This book is awesome. The kind of thing you sit down and read half of before you've realized what you're doing. Stevens grabs you right from page one and keeps you hooked all the way to the bloody end. It probably shouldn't have taken me so long to figure out who was behind everything, but I kind of like that the answers weren't immediately given away.
Kurt enters the story as just one of those guys you like immediately. He's loyal, and he's brave, and creative...but oh yeah, he has a temper. He tasers a guy to death. But he's a good guy! he just wants to find his wifes killer, right? Mmhmm. At then there's his bestfriend Greg, who I think is batshit crazy. I like Greg a lot, but it takes a lot of cahones and a seriuos lack of common sense to go driving through the dark with a suspected murderer, who is planning on murdering more men. Like, a lot of men. I was a little surprised that Greg was let off so easily at the end. But I totally felt for him after everything was over, friends suck. But having smart, lying friends sucks even more.
What a great book! Talk about a guy who knows how to write a thriller!
I purchased the pre-released Kindle version, and I'm glad I did. Excellent book, Kurt.
I'll try to avoid spoiling it. I thought I saw the ending coming in the beginning, but then through the middle section I changed my mind. Then bam! It was there all along.
Masterfully written. I'll have to reread it again to see if everything checks out, but great book. Lots of fun to read.
When state executioner, Kurt Stephen's wife is murdered his life as he knows it is turned upside down. Losing his wife is horrible, but being blamed for the murder is even worse so Kurt decides to find her killer before the police find him. This is not your ordinary who-done-it and the ending is a true shocker! I couldn't put the book down.

Well....hmmm. I am confused. Really confused. I must first say that I completely enjoyed the story, and if it is true, I am really angry at myself for enjoying it! It was a clean fast read, and I would spend all day in anticipation of being able to continue it in the evening! I loved how the chapters just flowed one to the next. I was grabbed into the storyline from the beginning and loved the ride.
I honestly thought I was reading a book about the author of the book. I totally believed he was who he said he was and he was framed for a murder he did not commit. Then at the end of the book I find that the main character, the author, was in fact, a murderer and is on death row. I am assuming the last chapter was foreshadowing of what the main character will feel when the time of his own death occurs. So I searched for more information on this author to find out that indeed he has the same name as the main character but is an author, with a child named the same as the main character's child but he is a widower, but not because his wife was murdered. Now what to believe? I do. not. trust. anyone!
I loved this book. The being was kind of hard to get into, but after the first few chapters I had trouble putting this book down. It was a complete plot twist at the end that made me just want to cry out in frustration.
Kurt Stevens is the commissioned executioner for the state of Ohio. He holds the one job most protested over and receives death threats on a daily basis. He lives his life in a regimented way, needing the order to deal with the stress of his job. As the husband of Tanya and the father of Michael, Kurt fiercely loves his family. When Kurt finds Tanya dead, he knows the police will consider him the killer from the outset of the investigation. Going on the run, he’s got to make a connection to underworld elements to discover the truth and get justice for his wife. CAPITAL OFFENSE is an interesting investigation into the psyche and the nature of justice. The author has created a character in Kurt who is sympathetic and yet strange. I enjoyed the story very much and I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to give anything away. Pick up CAPITAL OFFENSE and enjoy!
