My Knightly Dreams

My Knightly Dreams

It has been a while since I have been able to find a good book to read about medieval times. I had read so many over the years that they all started reading the same. So I had totally gave up hope of find a good one again. That was until I came across Ms. Brittany James story and she has brought my love for this time frame back to life again. The story My Knighty Dreams is very well written about The Duke and Duchess of Crawley Lord Alton and Lady Luvera Montbassen and their only daughter Lady Farren Elizabeth Montbassen. Farren is just of twelve years of age and is to be coming-of-age soon to take a husband. She loves spending hours with her parents in their castle and with all those whom live within their castle walls. Farren loves to write poems but he father tells her that she must not waist her time with poems because her soon to be husband will not have it.. Then he also tells her to that she is to find true love and to follow her heart when it comes to what she wants. Her father gets message of a meeting with a family that has a boy whom his family wants Farren to marry their son no matter what. When Farren meet Lord Bayard Norshire of Farnborough she knows right away she doesn’t want to marry him ever. His father The Marquees of Farnborough Rayburn Norshire is a very rude man and informs Farren father that he has already spoke to the King to get is approval to have the families join together with the kids get married. Farren father Lord Alton is non to happy with this news and kindly ask them to leave his castle for he will decide who his daughter is to marry. Lady Farren has her coming-of-age party and meets many kind young men. But she is taken by one she happens to meet in the Kings garden. He is a Knight and she is fond of him right away. They are of great importance in the story and if you truly love medieval love stories with twist and turns you will no doubt love this one for sure. I can’t wait to read more work my Ms. Brittany James.

This was an awesome read, although I finished in just over a day.
It was the first time I've read anything from this author and is was breathtaking.
Its a romance with the twist of royalty and hierarchy. It has a historical feel to the story, you were transported to another period of time which I personally thought was good.
Brittany takes her time to introduce the characters individually leaving no missing pieces out! This was great! Yes in the beginning you were left wondering " when is something going to happen" but this worked surprisingly well, it made me want to read more, to find out more as to what's happening in this story.
Farren Elizabeth Montbassen is a young 13 year old girl in the beginning, dreaming of her glorious wedding that will be taking place when she becomes of age at 16. She dreams of beautiful gowns, giant ball rooms and a handsome prince to whisk her off her feet and to love her for who she is, not what her circumstances say.
What does she get......well far from a fairytale.
Lord Bayard Norshire is and I'm putting this bluntly " A WOMANISING PRICK"
He thinks he can rule any woman he wants and expects them to fall at him feet! Seriously dude, grow some and stop following orders from daddy dearest :)
When a marriage proposal goes wrong, Farren and the handsomely Good-looking Knight Patton embark on an adventure to rectify things
This is a beautiful love story, although there is heartache along the way we come to find that there is no cliffhanger at the end (YESSSS)

Wow! Just WOW! I totally wasn't expecting that kind of story.
I absolutely loved this book. <3
Like a lot of books it started out slow, but once the characters were introduced it started to pick up. Nothing was left out. Farren has just come of age, which means there is to be a grand ball and all the young men hope and pray they are the lucky man she chooses to wed. However it can't be that easy.
A DIck Head that's butt hurt by not getting chosen decides to come up with a plan to scare her into marriage. Ha! Yeah right! I swear If I could jump into this book and nut punch him I totally would.
The oh so sexy Patton takes Farren on an adventure.
I swear you will not be disappointed with this read. It's a beautiful love story that's full of heartache, but amazing nonetheless. Love Love Love <3

I have to say that I finished the book just a few short minutes ago, after reading for most of about a day and a half. The further I read the more enthralled I became with the story. It absolutely had all of the elements that I look for in a historical romance, including the strong and knightly Sir Patton, the beautiful and feisty Lady Farren, as well as intrigue surrounding the couple, and the humor of the trials and tribulations of the couple deciding whether or not they were made for each other. Watching the chemistry unfold is always my favorite part, and the indecisiveness of the male and female brains warring against one another. So to sum this up this book was absolutely amazing!

The author needs to do her research.
I only got 18 percent through this book and was turned off, not so much by story but by too many inaccuracies. This is supposed to take place during the time of the black prince, there was such thing as a "waltz" yet. Prince Edward talks about getting engaged to Joan of Kent already, according to the author the Prince is around the same age as the heroine who is 16. That did happen until a decade later. The heroine and her female nemesis are calling each other "doll". That term was not used back then as an insult. I understand using a writer's creative freedom, but when one reads a story about a certain time period and things are way off it distracts from the story. A reader like me wants to feel they are transported to that era when they read the story.

You know, the plot was cute. I feel like the book had a lot of potential, but it lacked depth. I didn't feel that the author was consistent in using the language of the time which took away from some of the stories charm. The whole story lacked details and really just gave an overview of the plot. I wasn't really buying the sincerity of the romance... all around the whole book just lacked feeling- I did not experience any of the emotions of the characters. I'm only rating the book a three because the story line was a cute one... the writing of it in general was very unimpressive. Maybe a delightful book for a ten year old with lower literary expectations...

Started well and continued well, then took a sappy nose dive. It was not logical or wise to take off after the bad guys with her along. The mix of modern words became annoying, "wow", come on, really? I liked the splash of history, but the story became more and more ridiculously drippy towards the end and begged to be ended. The poetry was the first warning but I continued on with high hopes. Be warned, when you read the poems, it is truly a foreshowding of the sap to come.
