Charlie is finally getting her life back after being attacked by her ex- fiance, Michael, three years ago. She has a decent job, a tiny apartment she loves, and her best friend Brody.

Brody; there things are getting a little complicated. They have been best friends since they were kids. Saw each other through family issues, first loves, and first heart breaks. When Charlie was attacked he was there for her, is still there for her, whenever she needs him. Her feelings for him are growing into something...more. Does she take a chance on love with the one person who knows everything about her and possibly lose her best friend?

Brody is in love with Charlie. He has been since 8th grade. He has never been able to work up enough nerve to take it farther than friendship, for fear of losing the most important person in his life. When she was attacked, the thought of losing her terrified him and made him realize that he needs her in his life and if that means they can only be friends, he will take it.

Charlie comes face to face with her worst nightmare. Michael is back and he wants to pick up where they left off. Will Charlie and Brody be able to put confusing feeling aside to stay one step ahead of a sociopath with a warped sense of reality; who may be responsible for leaving bodies scattered across the country; that look an awful lot like Charlie; or will danger bring them closer to the unspoken feelings they feel for each other?

I really wanted to like this book. There were just some things that I couldn't get past. First, this book should be categorized as a thriller or drama. This was not a romance and I'm not saying that because sex wasn't involved until the last chapter. I have read many romance novels where sex doesn't take place at all. This book really centered on Charlie escaping her psychotic stalker ex-fiance. Yes, it also addressed her secret love with her best friend, Brody, and I liked all of the past flash-backs, but since this book was so focused on the ex-fiance, I don't feel like the author really developed the now blossoming love of Charlie and Brody. The flash-backs revealed that Charlie and Brody were always in love with each other, but when we would fast forward to the present, I would have liked to have them make more of a love connection.

The other big annoying thing about this book was its lack of editing. Every other sentence contained a grammatical error. It made it very difficult to get into the groove while reading this. Also, the author went back and forth writing POV's. The problem with this is that it was never indicated at the beginning of each chapter whose POV this is written in and she changed them quite frequently, so it took me a good page of reading to figure out whose POV I was reading. Not only was it back and forth between Charlie and Brody, but she had to add in Michael and then sometimes it was Patrick O'Conner. Totally confusing! And there were times where she would write about the same person in 1st and 3rd person in the same paragraph! Also, did I forget to mention that when the author did change POV, that she would repeat the SAME dialogue for multiple pages?! I already read the dialogue once, I don't think there is need to read it again if you are not going to add something to it.

This book had lots of potential and I am glad that this was a freebie on Amazon, but I think it definitely needed to go back to editing and rebranded as a different genre.

DNF and shelved at 11% for now, the point of view changes, grammatical and tense errors are really getting to me but I do like the plot and characters (though some interactions do seem a bit forced). Hopefully the author will update it on Kindle and I'll be able to read it through without getting annoyed.

I absolutely hate to harshly criticize a fellow indie author. That said, I could not finish this book. The grammatical, spelling, punctuation and formatting problems were bad enough. But when it dawned on me that the POV was changing from first to third person for the same characters within the same scene, I just couldn't continue. Fortunately I obtained this book during a free offer. It is very disheartening to an author to have a book returned, but speaking as a consumer, I prefer to purchase something that is finished, meaning properly edited.

I will say that the story could be compelling, and I would try it again if Ms. Lee republishes on Amazon after hiring an editor. Currently it appears to have been withdrawn.

I rarely give up on a book, but in this instance I couldn't finish. The main issues were due to editing (I know that's the pot calling the kettle black, but if even I can spot the issues then I know it must be fairly terminal). I also found the jumping between characters difficult - it needed to be made clearer who was telling the story at any given point. I would try again if it was worked on a bit more, because I do think there's a story there - and I like your cover!

This book had a potential in that the plot line was sinister, kept you guessing and seriously freaked me out near the end. But I felt a bit like this book was trying to achieve too many different things at one time, and that it tried to fit into it too many twists. But of course, that is just my opinion!!

I couldn't get past the writing. Switching the pronouns in the same chapter was exhausting to the point where it was getting complicated and making the story almost impossible to read and understand.

I.... don't really know what to say- other than I liked this story. I didn't expect a lot of things that happened throughout the book, but it kept me on edge waiting to see what happens next. I found myself lost in this book for hours at a time.

Un bon livre avec quelques petits défauts mais l'histoire prend quand même aux tripes et Charlie est une femme forte après tout ce qu'elle vit.
