Who is Patrick O’Scheen? I ask myself this often. A sailor, a chef, a writer…even I’m uncertain. I know that writing is more than an enterprise for me. It’s a calling. Books and stories touch lives like nothing else. So who is Patrick O’Scheen…read and find out.
This is a good book, a really good murder/mystery. I'm not crazy about cliff-hangers, but I would certainly read another book in this series. This book takes so many different POVs and rolls them together without messing with the mystery. All of the characters get their two cents in, yet the bottom line is hidden until the very end. Really well done.
Well… Kris by Patrick O'Scheen sure was something. I kept waiting for it to make sense, but spoiler alert: it never really did. The plot jumped around like it had somewhere better to be, and half the time I felt like I was reading three different books mashed into one. There are glimmers of interesting ideas buried in there somewhere, but they’re hidden under layers of confusion and chaos. By the end, I just wanted someone—anyone—to explain what on earth I’d just read. Two stars for effort, and for sheer audacity to publish something this bewildering.
KRIS PATRICK O’SCHEEN Kris Cane has been an Orphan for as long as he remembers. Raised in an orphanage run by an order of nuns is the only way of life he knows. Unbeknownst to him he has a father and is whisked off. The “fun” begins when he is implicated in a brutal murder of a close friend and his rich father whisks him away. Accompanied by his cat Charles he embarks on a new life he doesn’t want. Kris is a fast paced mystery to discover what Kris’s dad is up to as well ¬ as goings on at the orphanage. The story had quite a few comic bits involving the cat and was well told overall. I enjoyed the suspense and was able to really feel for the characters. I would be happy to give Kris five fluffy cat paws for great story telling.

Kris is full of suspense, hidden identities, misplaced trust and murder. The violence is not graphic, and usually told in a detail or two seen after the fact. Still, the book managed to make me nervously bite my nails. Charles the Cat and Kris (his human boy) get deeper and deeper into the intrigue and lies until only the heroic action by (CENSORED! NO SPOILERS!). MEOW!! I cannot recommend this book enough! Another amazing tale by Patrick O’Scheen.
A great story, don't miss it. Intriguing and full of shady priest and courageous nuns. Kris is an orphan who finds out his real father is a crook. He is also put in a bad murder situation by a crooked priest. Many are on his side to help him.
A great, fresh read! A young boy with a heart of gold does the right thing in this story. What's not to like about that!? The writing is great, the story is great...a must read!
