S. Ramakrishnan
(Tamil: எஸ்.ராமகிருஷ்ணன்; born 1966)

is a noted Tamil author and Tamil film dialogue writer. He was born in Mallankinaru, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu.

Ramakrishnan is noted for his column Thunai Ezhuthu in the magazine Ananda Vikatan. His short stories have been translated in German, French, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

His other works include Kadhaa Vilaasam, Desaandri, and Alainthen Tirindhen.

மனதிற்கு மிகவும் பரிச்சயமானவர்களுடன், ஒரு கோப்பை தேநீருடன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருப்பதில் உள்ள அடர்ந்த அமைதியும், இடையே விழும் மௌனங்களின் தீராத ஆறுதலும், சிலநேரம் எஸ்.ராவின் எழுத்திலும்.

திரு.ராமகிருஷ்ணன் அவரின் மீண்டும் ஒரு அழகான புத்தகம். ஒவ்வொரு சிறுகதையும் ஒவ்வொரு விதம். ஒவ்வொரு சிறுகதையும் இனிப்பும், கசப்பும் சமவிகிதத்தில் கலந்துள்ளது. அருமையான ஒரு புத்தகத்தை படித்த அனுபவம்.

Collection of short stories. "puthanavadhu sulabham" is one short story in which Buddha nature is treated as dispassionate living of young adults with their families. So my expectations were different for this book.
Other stories were quite good, mostly with a female central character subjected to restrictions / suffering by men or society.

A very varied collection of short stories which have S.Ra's unmistakable imprint. The characters/humans in the stories are the ones we see everyday yet they all stand at a distance and appeal to you either to change/embrace/empathize/ignore.

ஜன்னலை தட்டாதே அஸ்ரஃப். என்னுடைய விருப்பத்திற்குள்ளாகி விட்டது. மேலும் கோகிலவாணியை யாருக்கும் நினைவிருக்காது ரொம்பவும் கலங்கடித்து விட்டது 🙏

மனதை துளைக்கும் கதைகள். கோகிலவானி , சொர்ணத்து ஆச்சி, அசரப், ஊர்மிளா, ஜெயந்தி, வைத்தி, சபீனா போன்று, நம் வாழ்வில் அன்றாடம் காண்கிற எளியவர்களை கதை மாந்தர்களை உலவவிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

My first read that of S. Ra. Amazed at the way he takes us through the strange nuances of human beings. They say that only a woman would know about another woman, but how S. Ra. gets into the psyche of women so much? Story like "Yatchan Thanithirukiran" just makes you wonder how one can think like this. Can a character like Ashrab ever could exist among us? Every story brings about the psyche from deep - every reader might relate to some elements of the characters from his stories.
Looking forward to read his other works.
