I had hoped it would be similar to Karen Moning's time traveling Highlander series! I enjoyed the beginning but the ending didn't live up to my expectations!

(Highland Gardens, #2)

This is a, sexy Scottish historical time travel novel in the Highland Gardens Series with romance, highlanders, scheming faeries, a mischievous brownie, magic, and romance set in 16th century Scotland.

What happens when a twenty-first century business executive is expected to fulfil a prophecy given at birth of a sixteenth century seer? Ofcourse, he must raise his sword in her defence.

Believing women only want him for his wealth, Finn MacIntyre doesn't trust any woman and anything to do with love. When during the Scotisn Highland games, faerie magic sends him back in time to avenge the brutal abduction of his time traveling cousin, he learns he's the subject of a fae prophesy.

Elspeth MacLachlan, the beloved clan seer, is betrothed to a man she dislikes and dreams of the man prophesized at her birth, only to find him in the most unexpected place, face down in the mud.

With the help of fae allies, they must overcome the treachery set to destroy them to claim a love that transcends time.

Dawn Marie Hamilton is an amazing writter who has the perfect amount of talent to write in this genre. She will take you on a journey from the lush gardens of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to the Scotisn Highlands of 1511. This book is well worth the 5 stars in my book.

Loved it

Finn and Elspeth's story was even better than Patrick and Lauries' if you can believe it. There was so much danger and mystery I held my breath through half of the book. The most important and beautiful part of the story is the magical love story. I can't wait to read the next book! ❤ ❤ ❤

Just Once in a Verra Blue Moon by Dawn Marie Hamilton is book two in the series. If you loved Just Beyond the Garden Gate, then you are bound to love this tale too. Laurie’s handsome cousin Finn is the star of this tale. The man who had trouble believing in fairies and time travel finds himself hurtling through centuries.

Elspeth discovers the unconscious warrior in a stream. Although his language is peculiar, his manner and form are fine. So fine, she must remind herself that she is engaged to Alexander. An alliance forged at her birth. Her fiancé, who once filled her with awe, now feels more like a weight around her neck. For a man eager to marry, he has certainly taken his time. She finds herself enjoying bantering with the handsome stranger and wishing it were he, and not Alexander, who she’d marry.

Finn fell through time in an effort to capture the man who tortured his cousin, Laurie. His goal is to regain his strength to begin his search. He discovers his strength and ability may have more to do with an enchanted sword he carried from his time. Unfortunately, the sword disappears with a little help. Finn survives only on his natural ability, wits and charm as tries to unravel the intrigue in the castle, fight his attraction to Elspeth, and find loathsome McKay.

This tale included familiar characters from the previous tales making it easier to understand. Reading the first book is not a requirement for the second. It is interesting to see what mischief the fairies are up to in each book though. There is a feel of unrequited love about Finn and Elspeth almost Romeo and Julietesque, but they have a better ending.

Do you like men in kilts, passion, battles with two-handed claymores and brownies and fairies interfering in the affairs of men? If so, Just Once in a Verra Blue Moon is the book for you.

Ms. Hamilton continues to raise the bar in her latest, book 2 of the Highland Gardens time travel highland romance series, that is believable and history rich. It is filled with intrigue, finding love, and commitment to family.

Finn is a high-powered modern rich man who longs for true love and a family like his cousin Laurie. He character is developed in such a matter that one has empathy and understanding that money and hotness doesn’t always bring you happiness but more often loneliness and uncertainty as to who are your true friends and what true love is.

Wow I love Elspeth, she is a strong woman but due to the era she was born and family duty puts love before family. Her character is truly thought provoking and though you want to scream “don’t take that from your fiancé” we truly understand what the men’s beliefs about women were back then compared to today.

From my viewpoint there weren’t any strong secondary characters but Caitrina and Douglas seemed to deserve a story. So for now I am waiting impatiently for book 3 of this series Just Wait For Me, A Highland Gardens Novel.

I loved this book. It is well done and takes you back and forth through time without making you feel lost or confused. You enjoy Finn and Elspeth and the path they have to walk. I love fae books and with this one you have it all. Fae, time travel, mystery, action, danger, and so much more. Plus she does a lovely romance mixed in there. I cannot wait till the next book (Just Wait for Me) to come out. I want to see what happens next. I don't want to give too much out because honestly it is a book you have to read. To tell you anything gives a lot away. However, you will love the fact that it is a man that goes back in time and meets his future. I give this book 5 Stars. It is well worth Kindle Price: $4.99.

What a fantastic story! A little time-travel, villains in both eras, and mischievous faery characters provide hours of pure entertainment. Verra Blue takes off where Just Beyond the Garden Gate ended, but I don't think it's necessary to have read that one before you enjoy this clever tale. That said, once you read one you'll want to read the other. There are a couple of 'loose ends' to make me hope that there's another book in the making.

The author provided me a copy of this book in exchange for a review, and I consider myself a lucky reader.

This was a fun romp through time combining the elements of fate, fae and a most eligible bachelor. Finn travels through time to avenge his cousin and meets his destiny, Beth. Loved the strong characters including the villains! This is a great second bold in the series and reads well as a stand alone too. It won't disappoint!

Great stories

I really enjoy Scottish time travel stories. The Highland Gardens series are really good overall, but I don't care for the graphic abuse the women receive and this story had a lot of drama, but I still liked it.

Not that it is of any importance to anyone else but me, but I need to ask about the cover art on this three book series. Are you kidding me? I get that most books in the romance genre tend to sell better with naked men or sexy women on the cover, but seriously? This book falls into the fantasy genre as well, as the story is about time travel and faeries. That being said, I guess I expect a little more from the cover art. AND YES, BAD COVER ART IS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME NOT BUY A BOOK.

As for the story, it's a well rounded romance, but a little predictable. The story is saved with the author's attention to detail with the fantasy portion of the book. Well done on the time travel and faerie magic. Other than that, I unfortunately do have a lot to say on the book. It just didn't particularly stand out. I'll read book 3, and hope it get's better.
