Another classic Moomin story reworked in full color, with a kid-proof but kid-friendly size, price, and format.
After Mymble’s family comes to visit the Moomins, her littlest and most badly behaved sister, Little My, is left behind. She promises to behave if she is given Moomin’s bedroom; Moomin, tired of being forced out of his room, decides to build a house where all the rooms will belong to him. With Little My helping out, things are sure to go awry, but in the end, Moomin’s house-building misadventures teach him the value of a home.

Tove Jansson was born and died in Helsinki, Finland. As a Finnish citizen whose mother tongue was Swedish, she was part of the Swedish-speaking Finns minority. Thus, all her books were originally written in Swedish.

Although known first and foremost as an author, Tove Jansson considered her careers as author and painter to be of equal importance.

Tove Jansson wrote and illustrated her first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood (1945), during World War II. She said later that the war had depressed her, and she had wanted to write something naive and innocent. Besides the Moomin novels and short stories, Tove Jansson also wrote and illustrated four original and highly popular picture books.

Jansson's Moomin books have been translated into 33 languages.

4.5 stars. Mymble's mother turns up at the moomin house along with her 17 brothers and sisters. They really are a handful and their mother let's them do what they like. When they go home, there are too many to count so they find that Little My is left behind. Meanwhile Moomin is building a house for Snorkmaiden, and he finds out it's not as easy as it looks. The house ends up quite wonky, so they give it to Mymble and My's mother to live in with her many children.

Not quite as good as some of the others, but it was good to read about Little My, she's a great character!

Mymble's family comes for a visit. Her mom has 17 tiny (and evil) Mymbles! They try to get her to leave but eventually Moomin decides to build a house for himself. It doesn't go too well but in the end he's got a pretty eclectic building that is certainly not up to code. He ends up gifting the building to Mymble's family.

this is the one where Little My is introduced so it’s a sacred text on par with the holy bible

A short sweet arc from the early days of the Moomin comic strips, which show how Little My ended up living with the Moomin family. When she takes over his room, Moomin decides to build a whole new house. This is harder than he anticipated!

Aww, in this one Moomin is taunted by little My - who is only as obnoxious as she is because she needs to compensate for her littleness as she sharply observes herself - to the extent that he builds a very crooked and whacky house to escape little My. He has to face many obstacles in order to finish (but psst, there's a happy end).

Incidentally, this is also me during half of my DIY projects.

With all the excitement online about the movie, I decided to read some of the series! I love the Moomins. I think they were what I was feeling so nostalgic for the first time I saw a Ghibli film. It's the same vibe of gentle freedom and beautiful nature and loving family.

Funny, but not for toddlers! Has some…mean themes. The dark humor is pretty entertaining though. Instead of scolding my kids I…pour some water or lemonade on them!

These full-colour mini-Moomin stories are fantastic!

Dec/14 - delightful - the colouring is perfect and Jansson's comic turns are delicious - when Mrs Mymble inadvertently leaves Little My behind, Moomin loses his room and is forced to build a house for himself with hilarious consequences

Oh My, My, littlest My, what a mischievous little villain you are.

Another delightful read in the fantastic Moomin series. Tove Jansson is an incredible cartoonist and storyteller! Looking forward to reading other volumes.

Very pleasant in a way that reminds me of Winnie the Pooh, the old Harvey Comics brand, and old Disney comics.
