An inspiring autobiography about one of rugby league’s most popular players and captain of Parramatta Eels, Nathan Hindmarsh. Old School gives readers a view from the paddock of Hindmarsh's record-breaking career at Parramatta, and chronicles the dizzying highs of playing for your club, state and country and the heartbreaking lows of grand final defeats. Hindmarsh reveals the joys of marriage, fatherhood, and playing for a club he loves but also covers with unflinching honesty the personal issues that he has struggled with off the field.
Celebrating the success of the recently retired Eels Captain, Old School is a refreshing autobiography from one of League’s top sportsman.
(3.5) I really admired Hindmarsh's career as a Parramatta player and as a motorbike enthusiast. Although, I wished he expressed his biking interest more in this book.
‘Old School tells the story of Nathan Hindmarsh, one of rugby league’s most popular players and captain of the Parramatta Eels. It’s an inspiring autobiography about an old-fashioned type of footballer, a one-club man whose hard work and commitment on the footy field are legendary, and who has always led from the front.

Hindmarsh reveals the joys of marriage and fatherhood, and of playing for and captaining the club he loves, but also uncovers with unflinching honesty the personal issues that he has struggled with off the field.’
I loved this book. As a Parramatta Eels fan, and someone whose favourite NRL player was Nathan Hindmarsh, as soon as I saw this book I knew I had to have it. I am happy to say that this book was everything I had hoped for and so much more. I loved that this was such an honest book. Nathan talked about the good, the bad, and the ugly, which was something I hadn’t expected. The way Nathan spoke to the reader was warm and conversational which made this book really easy to read. One of the things I loved most about this book was that you could tell how down-to-earth Nathan is while reading it, and even talking about the more difficult subjects he didn’t lose his humour at all making his story really relatable. Nathan Hindmarsh and Michael Visontay did a great job with this book. It had fantastic information, wonderful photographs, and a truly in-depth look at the life of a professional athlete. I am so glad that I have read this book. Old School by Nathan Hindmarsh is a must-read for all NRL fans.
