Zar Evans is not your typical high school senior; in fact she is anything by normal. Dressing to the trendiest Goth fashion, Zar wears nothing but black from head to toe. Not that this warrants unwanted attention, but she is also top in her class and is looking at a full academic scholarship to Iowa State in the fall.
Loudon Clarke is an all star athlete. He plays three varsity sports and has the world in his hands. Except for one thing; Loudon is failing majority of his subjects. He is about to be suspended from the basketball team risking his athletic scholarship.
Zar and Loudon would normally never cross paths, until these two are brought together when Zar’s brother proposes to Loudon’s sister. With an upcoming wedding and a lot of planning Zar and Loudon are stuck with one another regardless of their differences.
Zar has hidden behind the pain she deals with on a daily basis for years. Loudon has never had to feel pain nor the ignorance of his peers. Can opposites really bring these two together or will they be pulled even further apart.
Only one thing is for sure, it is impossible to fight the connection of pierced love when one is willing to change for happiness.
I’m a fun-loving, down-to-earth kind of chick who loves to laugh, smile, and have a good time. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in September 1979, I’m a true East Coast girl who loves the mountains and the beach. In Spring 2012, I became an avid reader and since have read over 300 books ranging across genres, primarily focused on romance and paranormal. Simply put, reading is my escape, a way for me to turn off the outside world and get lost in a new one. I’ve found a true love in reading and writing, and I never imagined I’d be where I am today. When I started writing my first novel in June 2013, I was anxious to see where my journey would take me. Becoming an author has been a dream come true. This is more than just a hobby for me, it’s my passion!!
I think the fact that this is YA is what led to my rating. It was all very...meh..and I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, but it was more like a flip flop, not a steel toed boot. Does that make any sense? Lol
It just wasn't for me and the grammatical errors drove me nuts. sigh
This book is definitely suited for a younger crowd, I am 41 and while I can appreciate a good YA story, they are not at the top of my list. After reading the blurb and as bad as this sounds, I wanted Zar's darkness to be different or more than what it was.
The story of Loudon and Zar is what kept me interested after learning of her past, he was very mature acting for an eighteen year old. The blurb also mentions that Loudon is this big star athlete who is failing his classes, close to losing his scholarship, yet that was skimmed over pretty quickly.
All in all this was a solid YA story, maybe a bit of a romance, but more like an after school special. Yes it deals with a serious subject, however I think the summary of the book is a bit misleading compared to how the book actually plays out. I expected a more dark and angsty read.
I received an ARC of Pierced Love from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story by T.H. Snyder is a lot different from her other works, as this is a Young Adult book. It was a really great story, dealing with some real issues that happen in life today. We meet Zar right before her senior year of high school. Something has happened in her past, that makes her hate school, and the people there, and they treat her horribly.
After the first day of school she head out of town for a while, and sees a guy at the pizzeria, and can't get him out of her mind. As the story progresses we meet L.C. (Loudon), and all you want is for the two of them to be together.
Zar has multiple panic attacks, and doesn't share with her family or LC the cause of these. She closed herself off so much she feels like she will be a huge disappointment to her family if they ever found out what happened 5 years ago to make her the way she is now.
LC brings Zar out of her shell and she wants to open up, but is scared. I really enjoyed Loudon's will to not give up on Zar, he is nothing like what you would think him to be based on his background, and what/who he is at his school. He's sweet, caring, and you can tell he really cares for Zar.
Push does come to shove, and we find out what happened all those years ago, that made Zar the way she is, and you truly feel bad for her, people are cruel, and high school is not fun! But you are happy it's finally revealed and to see how everyone responds, and to see that she truly wants to get better.
There are some slower parts of this book, but all in all, it truly was a good read, and I loved this story. It wasn't all sunshine and happiness and unicorns, it was real life, and what a lot of people probably deal with daily, but do not know what to do or who to turn to. I really enjoyed the epilogue and left me wanting more..... (hint, hint T.H.!)
Have you ever felt out of place? Alone? Well meet Zar, she feels this way. Living day to day, just getting by. She is not your typical teenager, with loads of friends that she hangs out with every weekend, no but she does have a secret. A secret that even her family doesn't know about, a secret she deals with alone. She hides it, or at least tries to from everyone due to fear of the unknown. Enter Loudon, not your boy next door, but a boy from a whole different school. A boy who has taken interest in Zar. He can tell she has a secret, but he doesn't push, he just wants to get to know her. Will Zar trust Loudon with her secret? Can she let him in, break down her walls to allow him to care about her? Can Zar be helped if and when her secret is out?
This story deals with important topics that dealt with everyday. It is more common then you would think and the situations that arise among teenagers tend to be similar sometimes. The author did a great job portraying these characters as real people and I am happy that I was able to be there along the ride. WTG T.H :)

This was a great contemporary, young adult read about the struggles of being bullied and growing up as a teen. T.H. Snyder delivers a book that is different from anything she has written thus far. This book wasn’t just a romance but was based more on the struggles that Zar lives on every day. These are real problems that some teens deal with on a daily basis. The author did a good job of painting the picture of Zar’s dark world that she hides in. In high school, I only had one occurrence with bullies, but I remember the fear of having to face them the next day. These days bullying is widely known about and luckily children are being educated to speak up and report an incident where a fellow friend or student is being bullied. Loudon is a sweet, attractive young man who refuses to stand for anyone harming Zar, and genuinely wants to get to know her and spend time with her. I really enjoyed this unique story and would recommend it to anyone young adult 14 and over. This was a clean, sweet romance but wasn’t just based on that. It was more based on Zar’s struggle, and is told a lot by her journal entries.
I was very happy that there wasn’t a cliffhanger in this story and you will be happy to know that there is a happy ending. I didn’t find it unrealistic at all; children and teens can be cruel and too quick to judge. As a Mother of a teenage daughter I learn something new every day. Times have changed and high school is certainly not the same place it was when I was a teen. This is one that I would love for my own daughter to read.
Congratulations to T.H. Snyder for stepping away from her typical genre, this was a great read that held my attention and I was eager to find out more about Zar. Honestly, this is one of the author’s best works in my opinion. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read and review this book, I look forward to her next novel!
How do you pull yourself out of the darkness when that’s the only place you feel safe? For 5 years, Zar Evans has been living through hell. She is notoriously known by all of her classmates as the freak, but she tries hard to keep that from her family, despite the panic attacks that are getting worse. She can’t let them know the pain that she goes through on a daily basis, it will crush them. She’s different from from her jock older brother and popular younger sister…that used to be her until that day. The day that changed everything. Now she dresses in her black clothes, keeps herself surrounded in the darkness, keeps her nose in the books, and tries her best to go unnoticed and just make it through this last year. One more year of the torture and she’ll be free to start over at Iowa State, in a new town where no one knows her.
Loudon is the popular jock from from the rival high school an hour away, and when he runs into the mysterious girl at the pizza parlor, he can’t get her out of his head. Fate is on their side when she shows up at his house not long after. Turns out Zar’s brother and Loudon’s sister are engaged. When Loudon asks Zar to go to a party with him, she thinks this is her chance, no one will know who she is, but no matter where she goes, she can’t get away. She thinks for sure she’s scared Loudon away, and there’s no point in trying to have a relationship with him because of her problems, but he won’t give up on her. She’s different from all of the other girls, and he has to know her. Is it possible that he sees the real Zar and not the freak everyone else sees? Can Loudon bring Zar out of the dark and into his light? With Loudon’s strength, can she overcome the fear and anxiety?
This is a great story for young adults that touches on some tough subjects, mainly bullying. My heart broke for Zar and the pain and cruelty she faced alone, but I loved watching her grow and overcome the issues she’s had on her quest to find true happiness. In the end I was extremely proud of her, as well as Loudon for sticking with her. T. H. Snyder does a great job of helping you connect with the characters and really feel what they are going through. I absolutely loved it!
"Pierced Love" is a very heart warming story of a young girl Zar who is a middle child of 3 children Zeke being her oldest brother of 6 yrs and her younger sister Zoe of 6 yrs. She has wonderful parents who are both physicians. Zar has a secret and she feels like if her family ever finds out what that secret is, they will never look at her the same way and treat her just like the others do. The story keeps reminding you one certain night that happened years back that changed her life but you won't find out actually what happened till around 68% of the book. This story focuses on teen issues and bullying.
Zar has a troubled dark side that causes her to dress in black and outcast herself from others in school. She has been bullied for almost 5 years since the night of their Homecoming. It is kind of a long drawn out story and could of been more of a Novella but I still enjoyed it overall. There were some grammer issues but I can always look past that in a book especially a story that can grab your attention.
Zar runs into Loudon at a Pizzeria and cannot stop thinking of him since that night. When her future sister in law invites them over to their house to start the wedding plans, little did Zar know that she was going to run into Loudon again. Loudon ends up being Allie's little brother which shocks but excites both Loudon and Zar at the same time. I fell in love with Loudon and just loved how he wanted to automatically care and protect Zar since the beginning. He wanted to be different with her than any other girl he was around with and wants to her to be "HIS" girl....swoon ;)
Fave quote below:
The feel of his body on mine and knowing that he's watching me has my heart racing. A strange feeling overpowers me, a feeling I haven't experienced before but have heard about I can only assume it's desire, it's overwhelming. I've never felt this way; in fact I've in no way been this close to a guy before.
I start to open my eyes and I see Loudon move toward me. His lips are on mine. Loudon is kissing me....me. I want to scream, cry and jump up and down all at once. After all, this is my first kiss.

This book definitely started out with a punch to get your attention and suck you in. It brought back some of my own issues from high school that I could really go without reliving. Although the story deals with several different issues, it felt like it was lacking in really telling us what Zar was going through. We saw a couple of scenes, how she felt about it, but we don't really know the extreme of what happened to her which left me feeling a little robbed. The majority of the book was my secret, my secret. I got to a point where the dragging out of the secret became too much and began to turn me off of the book. By the time I learned her secret I was like that was it? I know kids are cruel, but I'm shocked they were that mean over something like that. I question that. I really like Loudon and how strong he was. The connection between them was great. There was a couple of times he was acting like he wasn't going to see her anymore and then they would get together like nothing they said happened, but looking back I think I did that as a teenage too lol. Loudon drawing Zar out of her shell was done well. It seems all it took was the right person to help her. How her parents didn't see her over night transformation is beyond me. They seem completely detached as parents and stuck in their own white picket fence dream. I was waiting for Zoe to come home one day saying things to Zar and she did. You can't hide things like that from kids in school. I understand the premise of the book, but I think it would've made a bigger impact had it been a novella because it was drawn out for so long without the interaction the book was based on. When a story is drawn out, that impact you are going for is just lost and it lost my interest in the process. The ending wasn't what I expected and I closed the book feeling like I was deprived of what could've been a really great story. Taking that into consideration, the intended target audience, and the errors in the book I was sad I had to rate this book 3 stars.
I absolutely love reading a sweet and romantic book. This was one of those books. A book where you just know that love is the key to everything, that it will save the couple and makes all things possible. I was completely lost in this story, wanting to learn more about Zar’s dark secret and what was holding her in her darkness. I was completely lost within the pages and didn’t want to stop reading until I had finished the story.
Zar was such an amazing girl. I couldn’t help but respect her and want good things for her. She was a beautiful girl who was treated wrongly and it caused her to fall into the darkness to shield herself from all the pain that everything was causing her. I wanted so much more for her and was so glad that things started turning around for her. She didn’t deserve all the horrible and hurtful things that her fellow classmates were putting her through. I was so glad when she met Loudon.
Loudon was absolutely amazing. One of the best and sweetest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. He was so wonderful to Zar and never once treated her like she was an outcast or different. He treated her like she deserved to be treated, loved and cherished. I couldn’t help but fall in love with his character. He was strong, brave and stood up for Zar when it mattered most.
I loved Zar and Loudon’s relationship. They were instantly taken by one another and couldn’t get the other out of their system. They were meant to be. Faith just kept pulling the two of them together. I was so happy that Loudon helped Zar out of her darkness and never once let her down. He stood by her no matter what. I loved Zar’s support system as well; she had such an amazing family. I was so glad that she finally let them in on what had been plaguing her for so many years.
So if you love truly romantic and wonderful love story about a girl who must fight her darkness in order to find herself again with the help of one of the most remarkable guys ever then this is the story for you.
I've read TH Synder's other novels that are in the romance genre and when I found out she was doing a YA novel, it piqued my interest. This novel touches on a sensitive subject of bullying and I give a huge BRAVO to the author for addressing and bringing it out in the open. I'm sure many teens or adults have been on the receiving end of this horrible subject and it refreshing to have an author address it and show you can work past it. There is light at the end of the tunnel where you feel like you are drowning in darkness. One day you may be the happy go lucky girl and several events change you life forever and you find yourself being the outcast.
Zar is that girl that I just described. She was happy and one day and a turn of events find her lonely and in her own world. She quickly becomes the outcast and feels like she is falling under. Her panic attacks are becoming more frequent and even though she is the top student in her class, she is just an outsider. Until one chance meeting she has with the most popular guy at the neighboring high school. Loundon meets Zar in passing but for days both are consumed of thoughts of the other person. As luck would have it, they are thrown together at a family function and quickly form a bond. When Loundon is around, Zar is able to feel like her old self. She feels like she can breath. They are so different but both feel so comfortable around each other. At the big high school game, Zar's secret of being the outcast is thrown out for all to see. Its heartbreaking and something many girls can identify with.
Will Loundon be the one to pull Zar out of the darkness and bring her back to the life she once knew or will Zar have that self doubt of if she is deserves to be happy. When Zar's secret is exposed to her family is she able to work through it? You will need to read to find out. Its a wonderful story of self discovery and again touches on some very serious issues. Everyone can learn from Zar's journey.
Pierced Love is one of those books that you can’t help but feel for the main character. High School teenagers facing the everyday challenge of bullying. As we all know, this subject has hit the news more and more everyday and it has gotten out of control. TH Snyder does a fantastic job portraying those struggles through the eyes of Zar.
Zar suffers from extreme anxiety attacks. Only, being a teenager and naive, her and her classmates don’t understand what is happening when her first attack hits her like a freight train. Suddenly, her friends and classmates deem her a “freak” and she is instantly out casted. She does everything possible to keep this from her family, and succeeds for years. She can’t stand the thought of them being embarrassed or pushing her away too. When she first lays eyes on Loudon, he is the light in her darkness.
Loudon and Zar has this instant connection, not knowing anything about her, or her being a “freak” she feels that she can finally be herself around someone. Just so happens that he is her future sister in laws brother. Although she tries to push him away before he can see the world she has succumbed to, he pushes back, forcing her to let him in.
I loved watching Zar find herself again, finally doing something to bring herself out of the dark after years of bullying. Standing up for those like her, who haven’t found the courage to do the same for themselves yet. Seeing Loudon stand behind her no matter what.. *sigh* The world needs more Loudons…
This was an easy read for me, and like I said before, bullying is a worldwide outbreak… bullies are everywhere, all ages, races, social status.. the statistics of bullying and even bullying related suicide in teens that TH Snyder lists in the book is utterly.. depressing… I’m very glad that Zar’s story has been written and that she was one who pulled herself out of the darkness rather than succumbing to it.

Wow! What a heart breaking and heart warming story. I don't think I have ever wanted to reach out and hug a fictional character as much as I did Zar. Poor thing was in a silent hell for so long and couldn't tell anyone. Suffering from bullies at her school and afraid to tell anyone. Having countless panic attacks and keeping them to herself so that the bullying wouldn't get worse. Trying to stay invisible until it is time to graduate and move away to college where she can hopefully start over and once again have a chance to be free and happy. Zar is pretty good at staying invisible until she runs into a stranger at a pizza place in the town she plans on going to college, he sees her and she most definitely sees him. As fate would have it, Zar and Loudon are going to be meeting very soon anyway. He just happens to be her soon to be sister-in-law's bother!! Don't you just love when fate steps in like that? I certainly do. Socially and academically the two couldn't be any more opposite, yet they seem to be perfect for one another. Pierced love is one of those stories that is constantly breaking your heart, mostly because of the cruelty of others. Once you find out what caused the bullying to start in the first place you might just need to hold back a little rage (I know I did..people can be completely and totally insensitive tools that don't' take 5 seconds to think). But the love in this book took all the sadness away for me. I loved this book so much. This will definitely be one that sticks with me for some time!

A solid four stars for this sweet YA novel! Please note, this is young adult and not NA. The characters are in high school and while there are a few sexy moments, this is a clean read. No sex and minimal, if any cussing.
Zar is a broken young woman who is counting down the days until she can leave for college and start over. She is super smart but is shunned by her peers and suffers from depression.
Loudon is a good looking athlete, popular at his high school both with the ladies and just in general.
A chance meeting at a pizza place becomes much more when Zar and Loudon realize they are about to be family. Zar's brother is marrying Loudon's sister.
The two quickly develop a connection and Loudon is determined to bring Zar out of her depression and help her overcome the demons she is battling. But can she trust that he will still care for her once she comes clean and he really gets to know her?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This is a very sweet YA novel with great characters. Loudon is a great young man, very supportive, determined and mature for his age. Zar is a bit of a mess and a little overly dramatic at times for my taste but still a good character.
The book is well written and you can feel the pain Zar's character is going through. The scenes of depression and panic attacks are well done and realistic. The themes of this book include depression, grief, and bullying.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys YA and especially teens who might be going through some of the things Zar does.
Kudos to the author, I look forward to reading more of her work.
This was a heartbreaking yet triumphant story, all rolled up into one. Dealing with some heavy issues that unfortunately happen in today’s society with teens, you get a glimpse into the life of one particular girl, and the struggles she goes through on a daily basis.
Zar is a senior in high school, who’s been keeping some major secrets from her family, because she’s felt somewhat like the black sheep for years now. She feels if she talks to them about what’s been going on with her, they’d somehow look at her differently, and that’s something she doesn’t want.
She’s been a loner for so long, she doesn’t quite know how to react when she goes into a pizzeria one day, and spots a guy she has an instant attraction to. It’s such a change of behavior for her, she feels overwhelmed. After that first “meeting”, she can’t get him out of her mind, and it so happens the feeling is mutual. The guy turns out to be her brother’s fiancé’s younger brother, Loudon.
Zar and Loudon become instantly attached, and Loudon finds out there’s a lot more to her than she shares with anyone. He wants to know her secrets and help her anyway he can, but she’s scared to let him in. I love the fact that he cares about her so much, and has the “won’t give up on you” attitude; it’s super sweet!
She finally realizes that there are people that truly care for her, and she slowly opens up to them. People can be cruel sometimes, and this is a story of fighting your way back from those situations. It just shows you that sometimes love can conquer all!
TH Snyder is a newer author and has already put out a two different types of books, she will be one to watch for with her interchangeable styles she is able to show. I personally don't love the YA book genre but being a fan of Snyder I decided to read it.
It was hard reading a story that illustrated a young girls harsh reality of bullying. The daily torture she put herself through in order to prepare for the mean words, hands on her and internal hate she had about why she was.
In an attempt to get away from her 'normal' she drives to a town about an hour away where she plans to go to college. She thinks this is where her new beginning can be.. and it is.
Once Loudon and Zar see each other they immediately want to know one another.
Loudon is a popular senior at another high school who plays sports and has a large group of friends. Although this is opposite of Zar they have an instant connection.
Throughout the story we hear Zar talk about a 'secret' that she has that made her who she is today. It's a secret that makes her tormented daily and she has this internal hate that makes her want to dress in all black so she can try and hide.
This is a really cute story of how one person can change your life and help make you put the pieces back together by just believing in you and being there for you.
Well I have to say im not alwasy a fan of YA novels but I am a huge fan of T.H. Snyder! This book was really well written and had a very good plot. So it definetly deserves a 4 star! This book is about Zar and Loudon. Zar has been bullied for years and gets panic attacks because of this and she dresses in dark colors to stay un noticed so that no one in her family will every learn of this embarassment that she faces everyday at school. Her parents are both doctors and she has 2 siblings. She feels like the outcast in her family but is that her fault? Could she change things, could she be happier maybe smile again, wear colorfull clothes again? She isn't so sure about any of those things until she meets her brothers fiance's younger brother Loudon. He is instantly drawn to Zar and nothing will keep him away not even her dark clothes. He is the allstar athelte and Zar doesn't understand why he wants to be with her, but can he change her for the better? Can she share her secrets with him without him running away? Well get this book so you can find out. I really did like this story it doesn't have steamy sex scenes, but it does have sweet moments that Zar and Loudon share with eachother. It is a sweet love story of 2 young people who work through her fears and bring Zar back to life. If you like YA books this definetly is one to read! Thanks T.H. Snyder!

If you're looking for a book to read along with your teenager to bond of if you know anyone who has suffered from bullying this book is definitely a good read. We are taken in to the life of Zar and get to see how much pain she is in, how she suffers every day due to the hurtful words and actions of others. All the while keeping her pain a secret from her loved ones Zar travels to a nearby town she has always felt safe in she crosses path with someone who brings out the old happy Zar. Loudon is an all star athlete with the most gorgeous green eyes and although girls don't really hold his attention for long he just can't help but be drawn to Zar there's just something about her that he can't resist. She's obviously in pain and hiding it but he is determined to be there for her to help her be happy the one thing he won't do is let her go. Loudon changes Zar he reminds her that there's more to life than pain and embarrassment. She is faced with dealing with the way she sees herself and with the challenge of not allowing others hurtful words affect her negatively anymore. After years of darkness Loudon is her ray of light. This is a great book to introduce any young reader to and a great book for adults to read as well.
I was lucky enough to win a ARC copy of this yesterday. I couldnt put it down i finished it the same day i got it!
This book Touches a subject that teens all over the world deal with. Zar has alot of pain in her life for years trapt in her own pain living day in day out keeping to herself and hiding how much she hurts from her family. Her only goal was to finish her senior year and go to collage to get away for a fresh start. Then comes Loudon the younger brother of Allie who is engaged to Zars older brother Zeke. Thrown together these two couldnt be more opposite. But they both feel something together. Loudon makes her feel safe something she hasnt had in years. He is willing to fight for her for them. Everyone needs someone to feel safe with.
I loved this book i do not want to give to much away i will not ruin this for anyone. But to read all of Zars struggles of her pain from dealing with her bully's this book made me cry but it also made me smile in the darkness she found a light a bright spot to help her out.
This is an YA Book, But to me its and all ages book. Pierced Love was an Amazing story. Zar is a High School Senior, 5 years ago a sudden Loss of a Love One devastates Zar that she suffered her first Panics Attach in front of her so call friends and Peers. She was then labeled a Freak and through the years she is Bullied and teased so bad she withdrawals from everyone and keeps the pain inside not even her family know what she deals with outside her Home. Her first day of her Sr. year it starts so she takes a drive to a town named Ames to look around the Campus of the University that will be her Home soon and she can Start over. LOUDON walks into a Pizzeria where Zar is and their Eyes meet. Later they find out their Siblings are engaged to be Married. This is where Two worlds collide but for the good. Zar fines strength in Loudon to climb out of her Dark world and start to live again. I recommend this book to everyone. Bullying happens everywhere. Pierced Love was a book to keep you reading till the End. T.H. Snyder Did an Amazing job with this book.
I was given an ARC of this book and here's my review :)
This was a cute YA read. We meet Zar and she is 18 about to start her senior year in HS. She has issues and has panic attacks. I know i kept on wondering what the hell happened to her?
Zar had a brief encounter with LC at the pizza shop and for the first time she felt calm around him. I was interested in learning more about him too. Come to find out his sister is marrying Zar's brother Zeke and they cross paths again at his house and from there the relationship develops. He was there for her and was such a sweetheart <3
Once we find out, I though oh, this makes so much sense now. I felt so bad for her but glad that she finally opened up top her family and LC. I would have loved more of a relationship with her and Zoe her younger sister. The Epilogue was cute , wish there was a little more though but it was sweet :)
Hopefully Zar and LC can get a novella to see how they are (hint hint) :)
Beautifully written and emotionally encompassing journey of a teen dealing with pressures she tries to hide alone. This story had me completely engrossed and not wanting to put it down until the last page, and even then I wanted more of their story.
Zar's story is written almost as a journal and you can't help feeling the emotions pouring out. Raw pain and glimmers of hope as she struggles to deal with the darkness that surrounds her. She wants to live in the light.
Loudon is so totally sweet and charmingly written. Old fashion values, a need to protect, and a fierce heart. He is her calm to her storm, helping to try and guide Zar into the light.
Absolutely recommend this book to anyone who has teens in their life. Not just parents but friends and other teens too. This book was just completely amazing and expressed the realism of the emotions Zar went through with such precision. You will not be disappointed.
This book really hit home with me for a lot of reasons. This book left me with a lot of emotions, sadness, heartbreak, sympathy, and happiness.
Zar had a secret for years and dealt with panic attacks. It amazed me how well she kept everything hidden away from everyone in her life. She was alone and had no one to turn to, until Loudon.
One meeting is all it took for them to fall in love. Little did they know, they would be together more than they realized when her brother is marrying his sister. I loved seeing how much she changed from being with him and how much he opened her up.
She really opened up and I loved seeing how much she really grew in this book and became her own person. I quickly fell in love with Loudon and and the love and patience he has with her is nothing short of amazing.
If you want a tender and and heart wrenching story that turns into a beautiful love story, then this is one you need to pick up!
YA books aren't usually my read but considering the author I figured I'd give it a shot
Pierced Love is a great story about a young girl, bullied for years and nobody in her family has a clue.
The story is well paced, keeps you interested and has it's happy ending!
I can say Zar's underlying issues causing her panic attacks weren't as bad as I expected, not to take away from what she went through and how it affected her, honestly I'm glad it wasn't any worse.
Loudon is her rock. The one person she learns she can count on no matter what and is the reason she comes clean with everyone in her family, she' knows he'll be there for her, something she hasn't experienced from another person in years.
She was stronger than she knew but needed someone to help her see it.
I love the characters, the story and the ending. It kept me into it so much that I read this book in one day, rarely stopping.
An emotionally charged novel of a young woman who develops PTSD because of the death of her gran and five years of Bullying in high school.
Just this week I looked at the percentage of teenagers that are bullied and commit suicide in the USA. The statistics are horrifying and I wonder whether it will ever be eradicated?
It's concerning that not only are their copious amounts of young suicides but also far too many cases of PTSD. Again the onlookers either ignore or get involved in the bullying. Perhaps the laws should change worldwide and it should become a criminal offence and those that walk by and do nothing, those that enjoy involving themselves should be charged with a similar criminal charge.
Anyway this is a topic that is very disturbing and I'm so pleased that authors like you and actors are writing and acting in roles to make the public more aware of this crime.
This book was a very well thought out and well written story. I was sucked in to this book and could not put it down. Zar's story was heartbreaking and at times had my eyes welling with tears. Her stress dealing with her emotions and her struggle with her peers was current and relatable. The subject of bullying was dealt with in a responsible and conscientious way . I would ask my daughter to read this book. Louden, the boy who saw through Zar's pain to see the person she wanted to be and not the broken girl, was simply delicious . He pushed just enough to help with out being a jerk and stayed around when no one else thought too. I truly wonderful story about overcoming tragedy, standing up and taking back your life and love. Thank you T.H. Synder for bringing this subject matter to this genre , well done.
One of the most beautiful blossoming love story, emotional read and just truly heart warming. I love that Zar was a real girl dealing with real issues and emotions, She didn't come across as whiny, which is something that annoys me in some of the reads that come up. T.H. did a fantastic job writing Loudon he wasn't your typical jock that comes to mind. He was mature and what everyone wishes they could find in a mate. A rock, your lifeline, that person that truly loves and supports you through any issue that arises.
This book made me laugh, made me cry, made me smile and broke my heart when Zar's past truly was explained. It has been one of my favorite reads of 2013 and I am glad that I got a chance to read it. Recommended for a quick read, as you will not want to put it down.
This was a very well written story about a very real and difficult subject that unfortunately occurs much too often now in our society. This is a story about Zar and how she struggles with her last year in high school. She has been through a lot and can not wait for high school to be over so she can go and try to be "herself" again. She meets someone who makes her think that maybe things can change, but has to ask herself if that is something she wants and if she is ready. This is a very emotional book that deals with a very real subject. You can feel Zar's pain and can't help but want to reach out and hug her and tell her that, yes it does get better. Lastly the person that she meets that helps her through everything is such a great person and always there for her.
This was a fantastic book. It shows how horrible the effects of bullying can be on anybody, not just a teenage girl, even years after it starts. When it continues, it only gets worse, and trying to dig yourself out of that depressed hole can seem like an impossible feat, especially when nobody else knows what's going on. I plan on letting my daughter read this, after skimming through and making sure she doesn't read any of the parts that aren't appropriate for an 11 year old, as I think it has a great story to tell. Let people in, make sure the ones you love know what's going on in your life, don't keep it all in, and know that you always always have someone you can turn to for help.
Let me just say I love T.H she is amazing!!. Zar is just like any teen girl she is dealing with issues that high school brings. Though Zar has a hard time dealing with these problems and goes through a lot of emotional trama. When Loudon and Zar are brought together by fate but is his love enough to save her from herself. Loudon is the sweet, charming and sexy knight in shinning armour and definitely one of my favorite leading men!! Loved this book hope to read more about Zar and Loudon. ~RAQUEL~
