I enjoyed reading this even though I don't have much background on Indian-Pakistani relations. Some stories had a bit of Hindi/Urdu in them, but I didn't feel I missed anything without them. (I could be wrong)
If I had to pick favorites, I think it would be Anjum and the Old Willow.
The cover has been beautifully designed by Sabahat Muhammad depicting the colours of the flags of both the countries. Each story is unique and is followed by a brief description of the author.
I liked the book very much and the book actually made me realize that apart from the political line dividing the two countries, we are similar to each other.
A must read. Highly recommended.
The book is available free on the Indireads website, in all the formats, and is easily downloadable. So all you need to do is create an account and download the book.
Love across borders is certainly a must-read book. Based on a unique theme of the India-Pak relation, this book carries stories with assorted emotions. While the book is thoroughly entertaining, it also works as a medium of bringing the two countries together through literature. I particularly loved the story "One Stupid Comment" by Shuchi Kalra & Sabahat Muhammad which focuses on a much possible critical situation between Indian and Pak in the future 2130, the aftermath of which shall be chaotic and devastating for both countries. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who loves South Asian literature. A sure thumbs up from me! :)
Interesting read. Wonderful concept. The short stories are easy and light to read. Not all stay with you though. Out of all, Anjum is my favorite. A few stories could have been written better. Read More (about each short story) here > http://www.artihonrao.net/2014/06/rev...
Book is a collection of small stories with India Pakistan as backdrop for all of them. I did like the message it is trying to convey of people being no different in both the countries and love is found in people and not entirely based on tge places they are from. Kindness can come from anywhere and from anyone.
Love across Borders as the title suggests are short anthologies by Indo – Pak writers. Literature and art are common ground for these countries to co – exist together. And what better way to tell stories from both the sides; it is nice initiative by Indireads.
All the stories are brisk and easy. Each and every story has a different feel to it; nevertheless all stories do not make a lasting impression. I particularly liked Anjum; a simple story which brings out the attribute of kindness to everyone. The beautiful feature of all these stories is the meeting of two individuals/families across the border. From there on, it’s the emotion/relationship makes an honest effort to last.
