A summer bestseller from the immensely popular Lindsey Kelk Tess Brookes was the girl with a plan. Now she's the girl with a choice. Should she stay in London and start her own advertising agency with her best friend and potential boyfriend Charlie? Or should she head to exciting Milan to pursue both a new career as a photographer and a new man, the enigmatic and elusive (and highly irritating) Nick? For the first time, Tess has to choose between the life she always dreamed of and a future she never imagined possible. With her heart and her head pulling her in different directions, Tess has to make a life-changing decision about What a Girl Wants.
Lindsey Kelk is the Sunday Times bestselling author of books including the I Heart series, On A Night Like This, The Christmas Wish, and One in a Million, along with the middle grade Cinders & Sparks series.
As well as writing books, Lindsey co-hosts the award-winning beauty podcast, Full Coverage, and Tight and Fights, a pro-wrestling podcast on the Maximum Fun network.
Born and raised in South Yorkshire, Lindsey lived in Nottingham, London and New York before settling in LA, where she lives with her husband and two very rude cats.
Boo-hoo! I was so excited about reading the sequel of About a Girl, but it was such a disappointment. The short answer is that the end made me so mad I was sorry I didn't have a paperback that I could throw at the wall as you can't really do it with a Kindle... here's why What? I'm sorry what?? If this is a way to drag the series into a third book, it really isn't working as the second book already felt stretched beyond the story limits. Here's why in more detail:
The Love Story What was great in the first book (banter, sarcasm, love/hate) felt forced in this book. I mean, the love/hate works at the beginning of a love story, not really when the relationship has already evolved to another level. Their respective behaviors felt too over the top, almost fake. It was forced. Call Me Old Fashioned Tessa sleeps again with both Nick and Charlie, meh! I prefer monogamist romances, but it's not just that, it's mostly that the story felt forced again. In the first book it worked. Tessa sleeps with her best friend, he's a jerk, she escapes to Hawaii, she meets Nick. But to have things go down almost the same way in the second book felt same old, same old, repeat, repeat, repeat. Also, for me her sleeping again with Charlie ruins the romance with Nick. The Arty Intrigue Seriously, who cares? The whole side plot of Arty's son being petty was boring, predictable, it didn't add anything to the story... waste of pages, huge waste of pages. Amy I don't like her, her drama was once again useless... she was an annoying accessory. The first book was special because Tessa was away from anyone, putting Amy in the second book ruined that, and Amy really doesn't add anything to the story.
Overall, this book fell short. The disappointment was so much stronger because I loved the first book so much. If the story was ruined only for the author to have a third book to add to the series I honestly hope this is not the case, stretching a story beyond its natural evolution only to sell one extra book it's more harmful as it gets fans so mad! Believe me I'm mad! (Also considering how ridiculously expensive the ebook was, I'm so glad I borrowed it) Instead, if that's how the story really is supposed to end it just sucks! So Boo-Hoo.
***Update*** And then book three gets announced... quote the blurb: "...When the opportunity arises to join her best friend, Amy, in New York for Christmas, Tess jumps at the chance. The only fly in ointment is that Nick, the man who broke her heart, lives there. And Charlie, the man she turned down, has just started talking to her again...." Really? Is she doing the whole Charlie/Nick shenanigan a third time?! Please authors please stop dragging stories just to sell extra books... wrap up your romances and move on!
*Received in exchange for an honest review* *Thank you, Harper Collins*
This is the most PERFECT summer read EVER. I completely devoured it. There is no way that I'm ready to say goodbye to Tess Brookes and her friends yet. There needs to be more of this series. Please tell me there's going to be more Tess?! What a Girl Wants was the perfect read after Mental Health Awareness Month. It was light, fluffy, full of laugh out loud and cringeworthy moments - I really can't get enough of this world that Kelk has built. What a Girl Wants and About a Girl are such Sex in the City books, with the laughs, the drama, the ups and downs; it's absolute perfection. Kekipi is to Tess what Stanford is to Carrie. He is there to hoist her out of trouble and to make sure that she's appropriately dressed in this book just as he was in Hawaii in About a Girl. This is going to be the most incoherent review ever because all I can do is sit and clap with glee at this amazing book!
In What a Girl Wants Tess is back and as disastrous as ever. She is now confronted with the decision between setting up her own company with Charlie, or hopping over to Milan to pursue photography with Nick. This book was exactly what I expected for a sequel to About a Girl. It was equally as hysterical and consuming as the first and I found myself completely immersed in the world of Tess, Amy and the rest of the characters. What I love so much about this book is that the characters actually feel like your friend. Tess is constantly confiding in you, the reader, and it's tough to not feel like you're developing a very trusting friendship with her. This book sees Tess through even more tough times and decisions but they all end in such hilarity. Like I said in my review of About A Girl, I neeeeeed a Tess in my life.
Lindsey Kelk's writing style is one of my favourite things about her books. She is so blunt, so crude and so real. All of her characters talk like real people. There's no censoring characters conversations or thoughts. If a 'fuck' is appropriate or a 'cockwomble' is deserved then let it be said! It's something I definitely connect with with her work. Her characters talk similarly to how I talk to my friends. It's something that's so relatable, so fresh and so real. I really can't get enough of it. Her language and her way of writing is so easy; it just makes for such a quick but fantastic read. I'm eyeing my I Heart series as I type this!
What a Girl Wants is the perfect book. I'm not usually a big reader of 'chick-lit' or contemporary fiction but I can't help myself with Kelk's work. I love them. They make me laugh, they make me cringe and they take you on one hell of a journey. From London to Hawaii to London and potentially Milan, there's never a dull moment in these characters lives and I just found myself lapping it up. This is the most perfect read for summer; it'll leave you grinning and begging for more adventures from Tess Brookes!
It's been a while since I read "About a Girl" but I reconnected with Tess quickly.
Now she has to face the hardest decision - the life she always dreamed of versus the future she never thought possible. Her best friend Charlie wants her to move in with him and open their own advertising agency together. After she loved him for over a decade, he finally sees how good they are together. As much as she loves advertising and Charlie, just now she met a man, she can't stop thinking about and rediscovered her passion for photography. Nick sent her a mail, telling her to call him - but now he won't answer her calls. Good thing she's in Milan to decide whether to take a photograhy job and he's also there. But he won't forgive her for pretending to be Vanessa, when she stole her job and went to Hawaii instead of her...
This is the perfect quick read. The writing is on point, blunt and makes this a joy to read. It's fluffy but deep enough, full of fun and emotions that made me swoon and laugh and mad.
While I didn't like Charlie much in the first book, he had his sweet moments here and converted me. He did shitty and I got that he made Tess try on lingerie he could buy for his girlfriends, while she was her potential baby-dadyy - hurtful - and as much I understood her making him wait here, I didn't like how she did it. It felt just wrong to me, not to her tough, because she clearly didn't even know what she wanted. Her trying to talk Nick into them could have been a hint. I was rooting for him, he's just so full of himself - exactly my time. But the story of his ex? That just made him look stupid. Same as Charlie, I mean shallow Vanessa ? Duh.
Tess behaved stupidly lots of times, beyond irrational. It's like she just loses her sanity whenever Nick or Charlie are around. But she's so likeable!
I loved the comparison of Charlie and a Chanel bag, that stuff just speaks to me, and the double thumbs up was the best thing ever. And Kekipi is still a favourite. He could be less prude but his story made me like him even more.
I didn't expect the ending that way but it's a good one. Plus now I definitely have to read the next book.
Lindsey Kelk is back with another blockbuster summer read, What A Girl Wants, which is the highly anticipated sequel to her new series, About A Girl. I’ve loved every single one of Lindsey’s books and I was hugely excited for What A Girl Wants!
What A Girl Wants continues where the previous book left off, where Tess arrives back in London after all the drama in Hawaii. Right away, I was hooked and I found it really hard to stop reading it. It was so good to read about Tess and the gang again after a year. A year! I guess from the blurb (and the ending of About A Girl), that Tess is offered a photography gig with Lovely Al in Milan! MILAN! Did Tess take this job to pursue her passion for photography or to chance a meet up with a blonde Adonis with piercing blue eyes?
I don’t think “excited” and “thrilled” could describe how I felt when I was reading What A Girl Wants! What’s not to love about Lindsey Kelk’s new series? First there was the absolutely gorgeous, everyone’s paradise, Hawaii and now it’s the fashion savvy and irresistibly charming Milan? Let’s just say, I felt like I was in the book! The things I love most about Lindsey Kelk’s books are the travelling part (pure escapist reads, all the time!), her beautifully detailed description of each setting, in Milan, which is the palazzo and streets of Milan, and of course, her sparkling humour. In What A Girl Wants, Lindsey Kelk's witty and signature turn of phrase is as fabulous as always.
The gang is back, people! Including my favourite fairy gayfather, Kekipi who is even more of a hoot in What A Girl Wants as well as the scrummy Nick and adorably reliable Charlie. So, the question is, are you on #TeamNick or #TeamCharlie? Personally, I’m the president of #TeamNick but after reading What A Girl Wants, I couldn’t very well decide! But that doesn’t matter, it’s up to Tess to decide! Remember Tess’s best friend, Amy? She plays a bigger part in this book and it was such a thrill to have her on Tess’s adventures in Milan, with her craziness and full-of-life effervescence.
Whether you’re sitting in your sofa reading this, or lying in bed or a chaise lounge by the pool, What A Girl Wants definitely delivers your fix of summer sunshine and it will put a smile on your face. An absolute treat for fan of Lindsey Kelk, What A Girl Wants is a delicious cocktail with all the right ingredients, which will leave you feeling giddy, incredibly satisfied but a stonking book hangover. A sublime Lindsey Kelk read, one not to be missed!
Tess had always played it safe but was she really happy? Does happiness have anything to do with your future? During a trip to Milan with best friend, Amy, Tess starts to re-evaluate her life and her plans. Should she take the safe option or live with uncertainty and be truly happy. Her friend, Amy, was taking every chance she got and running with it.
What a Girl Wants is the sequel to About a Girl and follows on from Tess’s time in Hawaii. Even though I hadn’t read the first book I didn’t feel like I’d just entered a party where everyone else knew each other. It was easy to pick up on what played out in the first novel. This YA read is laugh out loud chick lit at its best. A light read that will easily have you wanting to read it in one setting. All the characters were likeable. They had their flaws and were a lot of fun to get to know. Tess’s dilemma was realistic. I loved her hyperactive best friend, Amy. She was as fun as Tess was serious. The drunken misadventures of the trio, Tess, Amy and Kepiti had me laughing throughout the story. Kelk’s style of writing is real so there is a lot of swearing and mention of body parts when the best friends are talking to each other. Apparently that’s how some young women talk to each other so it was all relevant to the realism. Tess’s angst throughout the novel is not overdone and it doesn’t end with her making a choice other than to start living her life on her terms doing what “she” wants and I really liked this ending.
“Life might be too short for regrets – but it’s far too long to live with a compromise” – Kepiti.
Worst than the first, the fact that it takes her forever to make a decision is sooo iritating and again more whiny, eternal dialogue about boring stuff and not enough about what actually matters. And the ending is really frustrating, if I had known that the ending was so crap, I wouldn't have bothered to read it at all. I love Lindsey's writing style, but she should seriously either choose to write a book about grown ups in grown up style or teenagers in a teenage love story, because you cant do both in one book
''No one can accuse me of being boring'' the new Tess Brookes get into even more bother than the first book. You'll find yourself shouting for the first part of the book Just Call Nick. Then you discover he isn't picking up. Until Nick appears (About 100 pages in) again you just think Pick up the phone. This times Tess does the opposite to book one ''I'm not thinking about Nick'' instead of Charlie's name being in this quote.
When back in London Tess sleeps with Charlie again and he's falling head over heels for her not realising she loves Nick. When Charlie tells Tess he loves her, Tess's reply is an OK, that's brilliant supported by a thumbs up. Only Tess could do this.
In Milan now with Nick, but Amy's here this time and she's so funny with him. Amy is such a great friend to have and I love reading about her. As for Nick and Tess they start hot with each other, then they go cold with each other. Nick should listen to Katy Perry's Hot N Cold it really suits him. Tess questions whether she can be in love with two people at once? She might be but it's certainly two different type of loves one in lover and one as a best friend (If Charlie can ever be that again). In some cases Tess is more like Nick that she knows. Amy is funny again telling Tess to make a decision, go Amy exactly what i wanted to say to Tess Be Brave!
My favourite relationship between two people in this series is Al and Tess. Al gives such great advice to Tess while Tess would defend Al against anyone. Tess reminds me so much of Angela in many ways diving straight in and not talking to people are two of the top reasons they are so alike. I maybe think Angela might have picked quicker but maybe that's because to me her choice was so easy Alex is such a great character. Back to Tess's choice I think she knows which one she wants really but telling the other is proving difficult.
The airport scenes were so funny with Tess and Amy getting themselves arrested. They should be getting arrested for being idiots over being a security risk. ''Do you want the good or bad news?'' It's two men at two separate airports with Mr Miller going to Linate Airport. I like Amy very much as a friend i'm still not keen on Paige and Vanessa is even worse.
It really does leave you thinking in this book if either guy is right for Tess? She isn't the girl for Charlie because she's changed too much and won't go back to that. In several occasions Nick is also not the man for her but in other occasions is so the man for her.
The note at the end leaves you crying and furious at the same time!!!

I can't even explain how much I love Lindsey Kelk and this book. Tess is absolutely hilarious. It's shocking how someone so intelligent can be so clueless sometimes. But that is exactly why I love her. Her mistakes and her indecisiveness is what makes her so relatable and easy to like. As much as I knew everything was going to blow up in her face with Charlie and Nick I could totally understand all her actions. Tess isn't perfect but I love her. Now onto the boys. In the first book I was completely and utterly on team Nick. After this book I'm even more sure. Nick and Tess have a chemistry that just jumps off the page. They may not share as much history or know each other as well as Tess and Charlie but I believe in her feelings for Nick so much more. Sometimes they bring out the worst in each other and sometimes the best but I loved every second of them from the fights to the making up and I loved how they developed as individual characters and as a pair. In the first book I didn't care much for Charlie but after reading this I absolutely adore him. He's loyal and funny and sweet but he is not the guy for Tess. Tess needs to be with Nick and put Charlie back where he fits, as her best friend. I love both guys so I can see why Tess struggled to let them both go. That ending was hilarious but also heartbreaking and I can't believe I have to wait to find out if Tess can ever repair her relationship with Nick or friendship with Charlie. The rest of the characters were amazing as usual and I loved getting to see more of Amy. She was crazy, loyal and was the perfect person to help Tess through this adventure. Can I have the next book now please?
I finished this book in 1 day, what is life!? Tess really bugged me throughout the entire book. Make a decision, stop being so whiney. After about 180 or so pages Nick is finally back on the scene and oh my heart swoons for him. And then that ending!! Did Nick see her at the airport getting arrested and just ignore it? Thank god she went back to Milan because seriously? It’s bloody Milan!
It was good. At points I didn't always love Tess and I think far too many things in her life simply fall into her lap too easily, but I love Lindsey Kelk's writing style.
Szerelem. Elfogult vagyok, mert látom a hibákat és a gyengeségeket, de akkor is szerelem. Röviden összefoglalva, szerintem tök jó :), igazi nyári olvasmány, és várom a folytatást.
Not so secret confession: I bloody love Lindsey Kelk! Almost as much as Ryan Gosling without his shirt on. Almost. Her books are so fresh and relatable to a single girl living in a big city and juggling a career while trying to find the dateable needle in the haystack of wholly unsuitable men. And Lindsey's hilarious writing style and unique turn of phrase has made me spit out my drink on more than one occasion. I also learn a wealth of snort-out-loud funny new words while reading her novels, such as cockwomble, which I now make my mission to use in every-day conversations. It's like the SATs, but better and more practical because these are phrases I can actually imagine coming out of my mouth, rather than random seven-syllable concoctions that just make the Oxford Dictionary unbearably bulky.
What a Girl Wants (not to be confused with the guilty-pleasure Amanda Bynes film of the same name) continues on from where the previous novel, About a Girl, left off. Tess has just returned from her life-changing trip to Hawaii, where she initially only went to briefly escape from the madness in London, while impersonating her crazy but well-connected roommate Vanessa, but where she also ended up falling in love with a new job and a new man. Now back in London, she's breaking into her own flat to get some essentials – basically a suitcase full of M&S pants – and escape to her best friend's place so she can figure out what to do next.
After being made redundant will she try to find another role in advertising, a job she has always enjoyed and was very good at, or does she want to pursue a career in photography, the work she fell in love with in Hawaii? And with her best friend Charlie finally confessing his love for her, after she'd been pining after him for ten agonisingly long years while he was dating every female with two legs in the city, will she happily flop into his arms and enjoy her happily ever after or is she still holding a shred of hope to rekindle her Hawaiian fling with hunky but emotionally distant journalist Nick?
I have a huge girl crush on Angela, the main character in Lindsey Kelk's mega-popular I Heart series, but I think I'm falling for Tess even more. Sure, she is unintentionally hilarious as she finds herself in the most random situations – she even ends up behind bars twice in the space of a single book – but she's also an inspiration and incredibly likeable, someone any girl in their 20s or 30s can relate to. Only two books into this new series and I already feel like I've found a life-long friend in Tess.
As for the two swoon-worthy men in her life, at the start of this novel I wasn't sure if I was Team Charlie or Team Nick because they were both pretty big cockwombles (see what I did there?) and I felt she deserved much better. However, despite a lot of going back and forth between the two dishy men and indecisiveness from Tess for most of the story, after reading this book in a single sitting – the only way to read a Lindsey Kelk, be warned that once you pop you can't stop – I ended up being firmly on Team Nick. He is damaged goods with trust issues, but oh my what I wouldn't give for the chance to heal his emotional wounds!
The story has moved from the tropical setting of Hawaii to another enticing summer destination; Milan. Thankfully the location change doesn't mean that none of the other characters from the first book make an appearance, as we see fashion magnate and Tess' surrogate-grandfather Al again as well as new-found friend Paige, though best friend Amy plays a much more prominent role this time around. And of course there is the fabulous Kekipi, the best gay man in history. Ever. I wish he was real so he could take me out shopping before we embark on a karaoke bar crawl. I normally despise karaoke, but I think Kekipi can make me actually enjoy embarrassing myself in front of a crowd – or at the very least he'd ensure I'm properly wasted by the time I make my way onto stage so I wouldn't remember my cringe-worthy performance the next day.
This utterly amazing book is definitely the one you want to be reading this summer, whether you're spending the holidays at an exotic location yourself or you're trying to catch the sporadic sun rays that may make their way into your own backyard. Once you open the pages of What a Girl Wants you'll instantly be transported to a beautiful Palazzo in Milan where you'll spend a side-splittingly funny few hours with Tess, her fabulous friends and two incredibly gorgeous men. Sounds like the perfect summer getaway to me.
You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this book! I squealed and did a happy dance all around the house. I literally couldn’t wait to be back in Tess’ adventure land.
Tess had a big decision to make: stay in London and open an advertising agency with her best friend/love of her life Charlie or go to Milan and pursue her dreams as a photographer. And there was also Nick (she met him in Hawaii) and well let’s say they started a thing, but now he wouldn’t answer his phone.
So as you see there is #TeamNick and there is #TeamCharlie, and I’m definitely Team Nick. He’s hot and very attractive. Tess has been in love with Charlie for 10 years, but he was always the best friend, until now… He kind of confessed his love for her, but he doesn’t know about Nick and well Tess cannot get Nick out of her head.
She decides to go to Milan, with a little persuasion help from Charlie, and there we meet the whole gang again: Lovely Al and awesome Kekipi. I was so happy to have him back, he’s a great friend for Tess and just so entertaining. Then we have Amy, Tess’ best friend. I loved her and she brought a lot of funny elements into this story.
When I started reading this book, I just wanted Nick to turn up. Whenever he was there I was happy and I loved seeing his and Tess’ relationship develop. It was like a little game, they loved each other one minute and were fighting the other minute, but still their connection was always there and I just adored all their scenes. Both of them had some stuff to figure out and decisions to make, and I also liked that they got to talk as well and opened up to each other. Their feelings for each other were so obvious, but not for them. When Charlie turns up in Milan, to drama increases dramatically, which was awesome! As a reader you’re kept in the dark, about Tess and her decision, and especially Tess with her men. But she finally realised her feelings…
This book is just absolutely FABULOUS!!!! I couldn’t put it down and it has put a smile on my face all the time. Awesome characters, great storyline, very entertaining, funny, vivid and of course full of drama. Just what a chick-lit novel needs to be! The MUST READ of this summer and I definitely NEED MORE!!! We’re not done here ;)
I couldn't wait for this to come out because I loved About A Girl so much, and it was a very enjoyable read. But maybe only 3.5 stars. Or maybe 4. I can't decide....
This book takes Tess away to Italy for a photography assignment (a kind of flimsy one at that, but hey this is fantasy stuff, so whatever) and this time her best friend Amy comes along for the ride (with another ridiculous excuse, but never mind) and Tess is once again torn between her university-days crush (Charlie) and her recent summer lover (Nick) and two opposing career choices as well.
I enjoyed the delightful humour and sarcasm in this book, and Tess had some absolutely awesome moments, but I preferred the first book for two reasons: 1) I preferred the setting of Hawaii, it seemed more exotic and funnily enough, a little more believable; and 2) the characters were so much more likeable in the first volume. Reading 'What a Girl Wants' I kept shifting from being annoyed at Amy (a little too over the top for me), disappointed in Tess (make a decision girl!!), a little confused by Nick (all of a sudden he is extremely moody and kind of a jerk at times) and Charlie (who was almost inconsequential, and also kind of a jerk at times).
There was also a scene where Amy was actually quite mean to Tess but it was Tess who went and apologised, which made me like both characters a little less actually. I didn't think the scene moved the story along at all (we all knew the issues before) and perhaps it wasn't really necessary. It would have been nice if the 'life long best friend who stuck with her through thick and thin' actually DID stick with Tess through thick and thin.
If you loved the first one, this is worth a read, if only to follow Tess through her decision making dilemmas and see where the whole Tess/Nick/Charlie triangle ends up. Although the ending was up in the air enough that I imagine a third book will be on it's way.
** I received an advanced readers copy from HarperCollins via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**
Having read About a Girl, I was anxious to get into What a Girl Wants. Would Tess pick Charlie or Nick? Would she opt for advertising or photography? I couldn't wait to find out.
Let me start out by saying that I loved the over the top humour in the first book and was looking forward to more of the same in this one. Although it was definitely there, I didn't find it quite as funny. I did have laugh out loud moments but not as many as I enjoyed in About a Girl.
Tess got on my nerves more than I would have liked. She was overly whiny, drunk and indecisive for the majority of the book. This did of course creative some laughable moments but it also created some head shaking and page skimming. Nick also lost some of his attractiveness for me as well. His arrogance was more pronounced and I wasn't so sure that I wanted Tess to pick him or Charlie if I'm being honest.
I think the story would have been better served if it didn't drag on as long. It was just a little too many pages of indecision and it wore on me. However, if you are looking for an over the top and humorous series, this one definitely fits the bill.
From the prologue and opening chapter I thought I’d picked up a winner. Best friends in jail together in Milan in formal dresses, breaking into your own flat and hiding under your bed because you’re afraid to face your flatmate and getting arrested as you fall out of your bedroom window to escape said flatmate. This was a promising start, this I could see on the big screen with Kristen Wiig.
And then it went downhill.
The main character is pathetic to the point of annoyance rather than affection. There is no development of the main love interests.
On that note, without wishing to offend anyone, and in particular the author*, from the way sex is dealt with in these books you would honestly think the author had never got any. Whilst I wasn’t expecting 50 Shades level of description I want more than the awkward mumblings of a teenager embarrassed to watch a sex scene with their mum and dad on a post watershed BBC drama.
There are also contradictions within the story which just plain annoyed me.
You won't miss anything by not reading this one
*I don’t write my reviews to be bitchy or snarky or just for kicks of giving a bad review. I tell it as I read it.
After being thrown out of her flat she shared with Vanessa and getting arrested because of Vanessa, Charlie, Amy and Nick get her out of there despite Charlie cheating on her with Vanessa for a while!
Off on an assignment in Milan, this time Tess's feelings for Nick come out more strongly and she realises she wants to be with him. Unfortunately after getting through the photo shoot and fashion show with her friends and team by her side Nick disappears and their relationship undiscussed just a note by him to her exists as she sets about tracking him down.
Ah, I love a Lindsey Kelk book but I could tell it was bridging us between books one and three with the flow of thew storyline beginning to end of this book. However, the characters are super different and zany in attitude which made me read through it all and found myself enjoying it eventually!
Fuck me, Tess. 3.5 stars for a bittersweet but thoroughly enjoyable romp. So many zingers that this book is ALL dog-eared bookmarks now. Amy and I were meant to be besties, if just for her choice of fave LI-O-NEL songs. And Tess for her love of the Little Mermaid <3
Love that Tess is getting her own back, and growing bolder though maybe not wiser. But honey, you deserve some time to yourself, to figure out what you want, (and not what your miserable fuckwit of a mother wants). Just don't stop shagging Nick. Please, seriously, don't.
Wonder who Charlie is going to end up with, because it certainly won't be you...
This is my perfect kind of 'chick lit' book! It is part of the 'A girl' series by the wonderful and brilliant Lindsey Kelk, it is a perfect summer read, it is uplifting, funny and sweet. Featuring the wonderful Tess Brookes, who you will love, she is a very easy character to get along with she is very likable. The way that Lindsey Kelk writes makes the words come off of the page, it is so easy to read that you dont even notice the time passing by. A good read for fans of 'chick lit' books and anyone who wants a very good and uplifting book to read.
ok, another book about a girl who drinks too much and makes poor choices. is this supposed to be cute? and her life revolves around men. And she magically ends up being taken care of by really rich people. And not clear where her talent magically appears from. And her assistant/girlfriend is even worse.
I laughed until I cried and I couldn't put it down. Lindsey Kelk's writing just gets better and better; in this book she's crafted a tight, polished story for thinking women all without compromising her humour or fantastical brand of escapism. She is the absolute queen of this genre.
The writer writes better than she plots - or maybe it's just me? I found that this number of pages for such a simple issue - to be or not to be - was far too many. I appreciated the descriptive, funny, and interesting writing, though!
I received this book for free from winning a Goodreads giveaway. I enjoyed this book very much. There were some typos and grammer errors but I don't know if that was just my copy or what but it was still a good story and this book did help me get out of my reading slump!
