Cougar Surrender #3

A Cougar's Desire

Rate this book

Book three in the Cougar Surrender series.

On the hunt for the man who’d tried to kill his uncle, cougar shifter Jase runs into a little spitfire who throws him for a loop. She doesn’t fall at his feet. But as his prey escapes, he realizes Katarina is a different sort of prey he refuses to lose sight of.

Katarina is a loser magnet. Having resigned herself to never finding Mr. Right, she reluctantly agrees to go out with Jase. He’s sexy as all get out, and just the sort to hit it and run. But this man with the smoldering eyes and made-for-sin body passes all her tests, and she finds herself letting him in.

As one night of passion leads to so much more, Jase’s prey comes back to claim what he left behind. And Katarina finds herself stuck in the middle.

2.5 stars, didn't read the first two, but was still fine.
Wasn't bad,and there was an actual story present, so much so that, IIRC, no sex scenes til about halfway into the book! but I still think I was looking for more depth.

Though no matter how unlikely this story is, it's still compelling. Chenery crafts a girl perfectly for each of the boys that we've met so far. Katarina is no exception. The chemistry, though not instantaneous, is still present a little later on. The descriptive writing that Chenery puts into this book is perfect for the point we are in the story. Only one book left and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

This is book three in the Cougar Surrender series. While each book is a stand alone, they are best read in order.

Jase has watched two of his cousins mate to human women. The older generation had never looked to the human’s for mates but as the times are changing, Jase and some of the other young shifters want to see if their mate’s are human. His hunt for a mate is put on hold as another hunt becomes more pressing. After his cousin escaped capture after attempting to kill their uncle, he has decided it’s his job to find him. Along the way he meets Katarina, a human that instantly sparks his interest.

I really enjoyed watching Katarina and Jase fall in love. Jase is an easy-going guy but he also has a sense of duty and honor that make him respectable and not just man candy. Katarina has a tough exterior because she is used to getting hurt by men. She wants to find ‘the one’ but has given up. When she meets Jase and the sparks start to fly she doesn’t think that anything will come of the relationship but she gives it a try and magic happens.

I always appreciate when an author of a series is able to take the same principle of a story and change it up so that it is new and interesting each time. In this case, the cougar shifter’s finding a mate and getting the women to take their pendant when they accept them. Sometimes the stories begin to sound the same with those kind of parameters but Chenery has a way of making it seem new and exciting each time.

I do wish I had more time with Jase and Katarina as a couple. They are only together about a day and a half so we don’t get as deep into their story as I would have liked. But for a novella I was very pleased. It was a quick satisfying read and I can’t wait to read more!

Cougar shifter Jase is trying to find the shifter that almost killed his uncle. He thinks he has finally found something to help him find him easier. He thinks that he is at the right place but he finds out that he was sniffing the wrong apartment. Imagine his surprise when he sees a woman with a bat coming after him. He knows his life will be forever changed after he meets her.

Katarina saw a man trying to peek through her apartment, she thought he was a burglar. So this woman knew she wouldn’t be going down easily. She meets Jase and figures that he is just like all the other losers that end up being the wrong guy. She decides to give him a chance and the more time she spends around him the more she wants him and the cougar necklace he has around his neck.

I have read several series from this author and this is the first one that I have started in the middle. I really didn’t think I was missing a whole lot. There is just something about this author that I love. I get so lost in the stories and never want to reach the end. I really enjoyed the characters and you knew what there feelings were. It just seems that these characters just knew right away that they would work out.

I just want to tell you that the loving gets pretty hot and if you love erotica then this is just the book for you. You get a story that is short and you will feel satisfied when it is over.

I have not read a PNR in a while and though this one felt more like a short novella than a full fledged novel it made my day when I finished reading it.

A short yet well written paranormal romance that attached itself in my brain and somehow made me smile.

The main characters, Jace and Katarina meet in a less forced manner than in some stories. And their chemistry did not seem amiss at any point. I liked Katarina in a sense that she was not the needy girl portrayed in most books but an adult and Jace was a fine guy.

But you know what I wish this book had well more words. I wanted it to be longer as this would have developed the characters deeper and the insertion to my brain would have led to them being permanently sewn on my heart.

And the whole necklace thing…this is the only part of the book I found not to my taste.

I recommend this book to everyone, give it a chance it is actually a good one.

A little too fast for me...
I hope the length of the story longer than this, which could give me so more romance..

But it's still a fine reading
