The world has fallen.

This is what Choi Yoori feels when her reality begins to crumble all around her. After discovering irrefutable evidence that she was indeed An Soo Jin, the legendary Queen of the Underworld who “died” 3 years prior, her world is left in anarchy.

Time is ticking for Yoori. The elders of the Underworld are doing everything in their power to pit Kwon Tae Hyun—her crime lord boss and the favored King of the Underworld—against her. The memories of her dark past are closing in on her and in the midst of this chaos, Yoori is also plagued with an unsettling realization that she may have fallen for Tae Hyun.

Falling for a King of the Underworld has its consequences and in a society where love will never conquer all, Yoori will learn if finding "Paris" in the Underworld is truly worth it.

Tae Hyun smiled at her attentive silence. “You said that Paris is the city of love. You can’t go to Paris unless you’re madly in love with the person who is taking you. And not just the type of ‘love’ where you tell one another that you can’t live without each other. No…not that type of ‘love’. But the type of love that is unconditional – the type that is undying. You know…the type that can withstand anything…one of those….”
“Once-in-a-lifetime love,” Yoori finished for him.
He framed his hand against her cheek, caressing her skin. “No one said finding Paris would be easy…”
“They only said it would be worth it,” she mindlessly provided, never feeling so much bravery and fear in her life.
“You’re worth it for me, Yoori,” he told her with confidence. “All the obstacles, all the hardships, all the heartaches, all the pain, all the hell to come… you’re worth all of it to me.”

* siiiiiiiigh * Con , why you do this to me gal ?!!!?!!!?

This is the second book in the Welcome to the underworld series by Con Template and continues the story of Choi Yoori and Tae Hyun trying to find Paris in a world filled with lies , deceit , power , corruption and blood .

I'm not really gonna dwell on what the story of this book was all about . But I have to tell Con really has a knack for a impactful story writing . She'll give you sweet , heart warming , thoughtful , funny , love filled , awe filled moments and then BOOM ! shit is gonna hit the fan big time and the story will take a dark turn towards lord knows where !!!! And the best part about it ... You'll know shit is gonna hit face soon .. You'll know that there is no escaping it and that when it finally does hit you , your heart is gonna be all up in fuckin pieces !

This series ... just ....

Ugh !!!!

“I will not fall from grace because of her.”
“She is not a threat to me.”

When I read these, I just knew his words would backfire him. Despite his harsh words, his actions say otherwise. He had shown his desire for Yoori and boiiii I was more than happy for it to happen.

In this second book, we are also able to find out how Yoori’s past unravels. Her struggles, her pain that she had to face whilst denying her true identity. As a reader, I felt those too.

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I am immensely immersed with the storyline and every scenes flash in my mind like I’m watching an action series.

The way Con describes the scenes was just ✨immaculate✨

PERFECT, JUST PERFECT AS ALWAYS!!

description

I CAN'T WAIIIIIIIIT FOR IT TO BE RELEASED!
I still can't believe that my dream came true and Con.Template published this fabulous series!! Even if I already read the whole thing, I feel really excited to hold the paper version of this story, a story that came as near of perfect that a book could get!

description

It's been awhile now that I've read the fanfiction but I still can't help being that affected, every time I remember the end or even some scenes between Taehyun and Yoori, I feel like crying and I'm not that emotional of a person by nature! Con.Template, You're the best!!

Uhm, well this was a disappointment. I loved the first book, and I’m still going to read the next ones, because the ending was a great set up for what’s to come.
It was official; the impossible had occurred… The King of Serpents had stumbled into a foreign country, a foreign emotion, that he once promised himself that he would never venture into.

This book was a let down for me because it lacked all those things that had made this series so intriguing. First of all, that ridiculousness I found funny in the first book, became really awkward in this one. Yoori kept thinking one thing and doing or saying the complete opposite, and it was annoying most of the time. The angst was unbearable. I know, I usually don’t mind when the two main characters have to overcome a lot of obstacles to finally be together, but it was definitely too much.
“It is a rarity for the Underworld Royals to have good childhoods, we are too busy losing our souls.”

Yoori’s insecurities about being with Tae Hyun was basically all this book was about. Yes, there were some really cute and funny scenes, some emotional ones; but the main plot was overlooked until the very end when we find out some new informations about An Soo Jin, and Tae Hyun, and that was the part I liked the most. It felt like this book wasn’t necessary for the development of both the plot and the characters. I still think this is a good series with a lot of potential, and I’m pretty sure The War of Gods will find again the right path; we’ll see.

Here is what bothered me:
1. Yoori was super annoying when she was fighting her attraction to Tae Hyun.
2. The scene is in South Korea and they have names that match that but their attitudes and the way they talk make me feel im reading an American culture book. (Minus some tea, rice and chopsticks mentioned rarely)
3. I hate whimsy pitiful girls, just be bad ass and give the poor guy some!

Now what I liked: the story was constant intriguing action. I could hardly put it down between her initiation to how sweet and romantic Tae was it melted my little heart. All of the characters were pretty cool some huge ass holes but I loved the plot behind it. Unlike anything I have read before.

This is like a 2.5 bc the ending was good ffs.

I can't believe how good it got towards the end literally what the fuck. If for the most part of the book I was considering giving up ugh, that ending made me want to continue with the series ffs. But I cannot she's just sO annoying, can I actually do this... I would probably enjoy reading about the before with Soo Jin and Ji Hoon, their story more than /this/. As I am continuing with the series I sure as hell hope there's more underworld stuff, I got enough of her inner struggles, enough to last a lifetime.
Low key want her to be her /old/ self and rule the underworld, fuck it.

Hear me out. DNF (at about 60%).

Trigger warning this post contains mentions of rape and molestation.

I was so excited to read the this book, in hopes for more funny scenes, a ship to be canon and character development form Yoori. Plus, the synopsis mentioned an attempt to put Yoori and Tae Hyun in battle, so that sounded interesting.

In no way did I intended to bash a book, especially a book that seems to offer great potential but I was let down by problematic parts . Call me a sensitive reader, but I simply couldn't continue with the messes.

First and foremost , Yoori is constantly offended with the possibility of Tae Hyun implying that she is fat. Let's say she is actually fat, there should be no problem with it yet her attitude towards the possibility of obtaining such body shape is rude and disappointing. I don't know if I read in it too much but I was just annoyed whenever they banter, the "are you saying I'm fat?" with a angry face comes up, I get tired.

Second , the words choices bothers me. I need to break this down crystal clear:
1. “She nodded, hiding her hands behind her back to keep from reaching out and molesting Tae Hyun." I am trying to understand if Yoori or the author knows what they imply when they use the term molest. Because this term, by definition, is sexual assault.

2. “I’m so drunk right now, Tae Hyun,” she whispered, her eyes narrowing onto his naked upper body with lust. “I’ve never lost control like this. You have no idea how much I want you right now. I think I would’ve raped you if I didn’t manage to hold onto some control and cuff you to that bedpost.”
“Yes!” he shouted, agreeing with her. “Yes!”
She gawked at him strangely, the desire having yet to leave her body. “I don’t need you to agree with me that I was about to rape you.”

“Yoori! What are you doing? Why the hell are you locking the door?”
“So I won’t be tempted to come in and rape you later on tonight!”

Ok. The first example of #2, Tae Hyun said "yes" to her comment because he is giving her consent (he's enthusiastically responding to her desire). The second example happened a few scenes after the first example. Tae Hyun is consenting her for intercourse, Yoori knows it and tried to deny doing it by asking to get handcuffed (I guess with the reason to restraint her desires). Yet why, in the name of all the holy, is she still using "rape" as a term to describe her desire to intercourse with Tae Hyun? Rape means force and unconsensual sex. That is not the situation between the two in the book, so why is the author using the word twice to describe characters' consensual feelings and urge to intercourse (while concurrently denying to significant other that she is trying to suppress the urge to do it)? Denial from one to express their love and urge is an internal conflict, not what should be called rape (because both are consenting).

P.S.
If you're planning to read, there are quite several mentions of rape later in the book as well.

Third, since I've made it this far into expressing my discontent at this book, I might as well continue with the next reason: yes, ladies and gentleman, Yoori took advantage of Tae Hyun's "drunken state." He was half-asleep and slurring in her lap (turned out later that he was sober and not drunk) and Yoori decided to take advantage of him.

“She was going to advantage of him in his drunken state and she was going to enjoy it.”

“If only he was drunk too…then she probably would’ve taken advantage of him at this moment.”

There it is, literally no point in reading between the lines. So while Tae Hyun supposedly is sleeping and drunk (while in reality, he was aware of the whole situation) Yoori pecked him on the lips. Tae Hyun liked it, but did this mean it was right of her to do it especially if he was actually drunk?

Fourth, chapter 29. I stopped reading at chapter 20 approximately, but I saw a comment about this chapter on a two-starred review. I checked it out. Oh boy. I read it then skimmed it. Because guess what? Tae Hyun has planned this all along, he had planned on how he would meet and blackmailed Yoori into working for him. He knew the big secret even before she told him. But oh no, he didn't plan on falling in love, it changed him and he planned to tell her about his knowledge of her soon.

“In the timeframe that I had you, I knew I had to get you out of there fast so I did the only thing I knew would work quickly: I had to blackmail you and force you out of there.”

“I didn’t want to involve any emotions into it. I only needed you for a couple of months. I made you my assistant because I needed you by my side at all times. I needed you with me to continue to demand Jae Won’s loyalty. It was just supposed to be for a couple of months. After things got settled, I figured I could just pay you and send you on your way.”

“It was never part of the plan to fall for you. I used all the power at my disposal to keep that from happening because even subconsciously, I knew you were going to be my downfall. I kept trying to distance myself from you, yet I could never go far because I always yearn to be around you. You were like a drug…an addiction I couldn’t kick no matter how hard I tried."

Partially, I couldn't blame Tae Hyun 100% because Yoori was found the first time after trying to escape and then chose to stay there. But manipulation much? (At least I'm glad, Yoori's reaction was being mad at him.)

These were the key points that led me to giving this a two stars. A two stars because of the problematic parts and more than one star because there were some hilarious, enjoyable moments as far as I have read.

I don't know if I will read the next book, I don't think I will unless there is eradication in these problematic parts and a better development for Yoori (please note, this comment is made in regards to my observation of her "development" as of chapter 20).

if i had to rate the relationship development and my love for the main couple here, i would give them all five stars. and as much as i love the taehyun and yoori scenes, the fall of gods didn’t need to be just 80% romance and the remaining used for the left over plot near the end which btw, i had already guessed midway during the first book itself so it wasn’t really that big of a surprise.

combine the whole underworld plot from this book and merge it into the first one and it would actually make wttu have better closure. also some of the scenes here felt really unnecessary and the writing proved that this is actually fanfiction.

that being said, i don’t want to sound like i didn’t enjoy this one. i could read anything about the main characters and be fully satisfied. also the ending.. i’m excited for the next one!

Was nice and cute but this isn't what I signed up for. I had to wait until chapter 26 for some real action. Way to go. Seriously, the romance could took up less space than it did. I ship them but it became annoying. I want the badass An Soo Jin.

Not What I Expected

This book didn't talk much about gangster life like I expected. It focused too much on romance. Could have been better.

OH MY FLYING PIG.

PERFECT IT'S JUST SO PERFECT. Okay there are still lots of grammatical errors that made the whole reading experience awkward. Aaand, after reading this story for the nth time, I think I finally discovered a flaw in the way Con writes.

Again, plot-wise, I bow down to Con for her amazing ideas and imagination. The character developement is perfect. The reader can literally see how the characters' experiences change them. Her style of hmm how do I say this. The way she connects her introductions to the conclusion of each chapter, the way she uses her metaphors to conclude a chapter, her foreshadowing - basically her figures of speech, MAKE EVERYTHING FEEL LIKE A MOVIE. *read my WTTU review for the explanation*

However, I think, she stresses too much of the characters' thoughts, especially Yoori's, to the point that its makes the whole story draggy. Yoori will react to something, and that particular reaction will used over and over again up until the end of the scene.

Another thing, you will find these phrases not only once in the whooooole story:
"rip his/her clothes off"
"cute fat kid on a diet"
Not the exact phrasing but you'll get the same idea. And too much stresses on how hot Taehyun is and on how much she wants to eat him alive :))) Okay I KNOW HE'S HOT but to mention it in every paragraph..

These things, these phrases, I think it only works once. And for a story to use it over and over again kind of makes it dull and repetitive.

OR IT'S JUST ME FOR HAVING READ THE STORY ALMOST FIVE TIMES ALREADY? Don't hate me. Con's my ULTIMAYE FAVORITE AUTHOR, I swear. I'm just being objective.

Okay. The storyline, the whole TFOG book is about Taehyun and Yoori falling for each other, hence the "fall of gods". And like what Con mentioned in one of her sns accounts, readers should definitely enjoy how swoon-worthy this installment is because, quoting Con, "nothing but anarchy will come our way" in book3.

AND OH MY GOSH MY FACE WAS FULL OF SNOT AND TEARS WHILE READING CHAPTER 24. I though was already used to the emotions overflowing from TaeRi but nooooo. THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH IT HURTSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! And just thinking about the chaos that will follow breaks me into millions of pieces T_________________T

What else.. oh

EXCITED FOR THE THIRD BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading the first book, how can I not go on to get the second?! If the first book was the appetizer, I would describe the second one as straight on to dessert. The book is chock-full of fluff that would not be recommended to read in the outside world. Seriously, I tried and I could not stop giggling or squealing like a teenage girl. I got weird looks at work. So yeah... can't do that again.

But the romance is body tingling good! It will leave you frustrated with emotions yet craving for more. I do have to say though, it took me three month to finish this book and I can explain why. Because of the fluff. I would read a chapter and then have to put it down, fangirl to my people, then not pick it up or else I'd be up at 3am and be not able to go to work. So what would happen the next day is that I would leave the book and I would be scared to touch it because of what other fluff of teasing, one-liners, or romantic gestures would leaving me craving more. It was kinda scary.

Anyway, as much as I adore the drama and romance between the main characters, the plot wasn't driven throughout the book as much as I wanted to. I understood that it could be a strategy in it of itself for the reader to temporary not focus on the main problem and dive into the romance until the plot crashes through the windshield of our unexpected imaginings with little clue to how it got there. So I wasn't bothered at all but I can imagine a lot of people who don't care for the romance to complain on the deviation from the plot.

So for die-hard romantics, do dive into this book because not only is it worth it, it's also worth watching others fall into the underworld to suffer together in utter torment. Do share because it's not good to be in agony by your own.

A lot of tension of all sort was pouring out between Choi Yoori and Tae Hyun and it was inevitable that this two will soon have to acknowledge their feelings for each other but with their past and secrets soon catching up to them it has proved to be a very painful revelation for Yoori of the bomb that Tae Hyun has dropped on her. But I was not so surprised about it coz I have been having my own question regarding that very incident of how they met and the clues here and there that I picked up that led me to form my own theory which was not far off. But can I just say when Tae Hyun turn on his charm he is truly irresistable well except for Yoori who barely managed to hold on to her raging hormone against the onslaught of Tae Hyun's seduction. I absolutely love their confession scenes....even though it was under the guise of supposedly being drunk. And there were hilarious moments in between that had be laughing out loud. Yoori still have her reservations about being with Tae Hyun as his girlfriend knowing his world can be unforgiving to any kind of love attachment. But things are building up to a more intense situations when soon more from Choi Yoori's past are really catching up to them. For now my heart is aching for this two...and that mysterious person watching them sounds very ominous.

Now, I'm sure this installment is the fanservice. Don't get me wrong I love this book as much as the next person but I think it was a tad bit excessive. It is more about Tae Hyun and Yoori's relationship development which I don't think is necessary since I'm pretty sure it was polished by the end of the book 1. But I still enjoyed readinng those light hearted scenes.

It stirred clear from the main plot which is the underground activities etc etc. And seriously? I should be grateful because god knows I'm not ready for that yet.

I'd like to call this sequel CALM BEFORE THE STORM and it got me anticipating for the next book!

The book continues from where it left off at the end of Welcome to The Underworld. I was really happy to have the mystery of her identity confirmed (though its not a shocker). This sequel explored more of the relationship side for Yoori. Though at times I loved the description and experience of her romantic tale, i REALLY wanted to know more about the dealings of the underworld and the battle for the overall "lord of the underworld" position. There were glimpses of Yooris darker hidden past. We get the whole secret shattering experience RIGHT at the END which was a major event that just made me going NOOO DAMMIT. Overall, I loved it but not as much as I did in the first book.

Such a good book! Now at first I was mad because yoori needed to be smacked a couple times and just let the bad ass from the queen come out! I'm sad because of the reason it did but I'm also glad. Now to the boys :) I love both of them! I've always loved boss hyun more than boss hoon but it was a close race... Until this book. Now I'm mad at them both. I hope the queen comes out to play a lot more in the next book! Who will she choose? Ah the suspense is killing me

Dragged out

there were some cute scenes, but everything was dragged out more than necessary. my eyes glazed over while reading many of the chapters. I really didn't care for the chapters of useless chatter and bickering between tae hyun and yoori. he's also a gang leader, but the book does not get into any of his gang related activities. I really have no perception of him as a gang leader. we'll see how the next segment goes.

Just when I thought the first book was amazing, it was only a filler compared to the second book. This book had everything I wanted it to have and while it is the fall of "gods," it does not seem quite so. Rather this is a journey where the gods have finally found Paris (heaven).
