Mark Hall is a master of words, rhyme, passion, and honesty, and he writes about all of the different things that went through writing the songs on his band, Casting Crowns, first two albums. I am a huge fan of his works, songs, and his band; their music was actually what made me become such an avid fan of Christian Music since I saw them live in concert in 2009! Reading this book shows what went into the creation of Casting Crown's self-entitled debut album as well as their sophomore release, Lifesong. In the book, he opens up with his inner struggles and temptations, especially concerning having ADD/ ADHD, and feeling like he was a loser who had to hide that fact from everyone in his life since he was tested positive for it as a kid. However, Christ was able to break through and use him as a youth pastor (currently preaching for youth at a megachurch in Atlanta), as well as singer/songwriter for his band, and now as an author. This book gives people hope that they can do anything through the awesome power of Jesus, and gives you insight on what writing inspirational songs that have impacted millions of people was really for.

Mark Hall is the singer of my favorite Christian band Casting Crowns. This books tells the story behind each of the songs on their first two albums. I had no idea how much scripture study and depth each of these has, which is why I’m sure his songs are so impactful. Some amazing life experiences went into writing these. Really enjoyed reading this book.

Based on stories from one of their albums, these are incredible life tales about things Mark Hall has experienced and learned. It also tells the 'why' behind the songs, and the people, situations, and God moments that inspired them. Worth a read. Heck, it's worth a STUDY!

I have not been a devoted fan of a musical group since I was in my twenties (I am now solidly into my forties) until the past year. I think Casting Crowns is great. The lyrics to their songs impart truths that need to be spoken, the music is wonderful and the groups sincerity comes through loud and clear. I even attended a concert which was awesome. With all that said, I enjoyed reading this book and was even more impressed with the authenticity of Mark Hall and his desire to share his life and his faith to help others. I recommend this book to anyone, especially our youth, their parents and youth group leaders.

Excellent book !!! This is a little more for people who have grown up in church, but it works well for later-life Christians as well. Mark is really open and has some awesome insights into the inspiring stories that caused him to write the songs for the Casting Crowns albums.

This was an excellent read. I especially enjoyed the back stories that inspired Casting Crown songs or ones that gave an existing song a deeper meaning. There were a couple of parts that gave me goosebumps.
