***This is the special edition version of this book***
I have this thing about saying ‘yes’. I do it frequently, and with abandon.
Skydiving on a whim? Yes. A last minute getaway to Ireland? Yes! Agreeing to a marriage of convenience with sexy and arrogant Luca Rossi for two years? Um…yes?
It should have been a simple arrangement. Luca needs a wife to clean up his image as the new CEO of Rossi Motors, and I need my mother to stop trying to fix me up on terrible dates. In two years, we’ll part amicably, no attachments or hard feelings.
Anything that happens between us will be outside the confines of our arrangement. And by anything, I mean falling into Luca’s bed. Which I also do frequently and with abandon.
But nothing is ever as simple as it seems. It isn’t long before I fall for my motorcycle-riding, dirty-talking, sexy-as-sin husband.
I know I should be careful. This is just temporary, after all, and Luca and I want completely different futures.
The thing is, when I’m with Luca, all I want to do is say, ‘yes’, no matter how reckless that would be.
don't understand what there is to like about this one. Did I read something different then everyone else?
He was a manho before meeting heroine and he was so freaking proud of it. He told her Father that he did not regret, nor would he apologize, for his past (aka f*****g around). He said he had fun and enjoyed bedding women and that there wasn’t anything he didn’t try or wasn’t into before he met heroine. STDs anyone? Ewe.
And then there’s also that for almost 98-99% of the story, he treats heroine like a whore or a fling. Now I love me some assholeness from hero in the beginning but I want to see where he changes and relationship begins to develop and he becomes deserving after a few chapters - not like this one to have to wait until the very end with a page or two telling me he changed! He told her before they got married that he did not want to have a ”real” wedding (aka church wedding, white dress, honeymoon, etc.) because he wanted that to be experienced with his real wife someday when he found a woman he loved & wanted to marry. So up until the end, he never has sex with heroine in his bed or his home. It's always in a motel/hotel and she has no problem with it?
And then there is the sex. Jeez. Why do people write porn instead of lovemaking in fictional romances? For me personally, it read very cringe worthy, disgusting and overall skipped those parts. And let's not mention that there was no protection ever mentioned. He found a used/open box of condoms in her nightstand before they ever had sex and he threw it away and that was that. She was no virgin/saint but his sexual history was clearly mentioned so you would think a mention of STD's would be discussed. Lol.
I liked the FMC more then I liked the MMC who honestly ran hot & cold and got on my nerves. He only became likable to me after he meets her family which is close to the end. It was then that I felt they had some potential and story picked up for me but it took too long to get there and by then I was fed up with it.
The only thing I liked about this which is why it even got 2 stars from me is the “family” aspect of the story. The close knit families & friends and how well they blended. I also like the 2 kids (h's niece & nephew) and how funny they interacted with H.
Safety:
No cheating or OW/OM drama, though I was not a fan of H flirting with a female bartender right in front of h. He called the OW "Bella" which was often used on h as well, along with "pretty girl" which got on my nerves. There was also an ex OW who came on to him but he shut it down quick. And before MCs got into the fake marriage, h mentioned she was flirting & wheeling in OM that she maybe had an interest in. Nothing happened in either scenario but it was just icky scenes that I wish were left out.
No intimate scenes with others. HEA of a year later, though wish we could have had a real wedding and kids.
Julia Wolf is one of those authors that never misses. I love that she can write in so many subgenres of romance and kills it every time. The more I read of her back list, the more I love her. I’m trying to get caught up and I’m more than halfway there!
Sorisa and Luca have mutual friends, but they’ve never met in person. And once they do, they realize they have in fact already met. Their meet-cute was one of a kind. I loved watching Sorisa worm her way into Luca’s heart. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorites when done right, and this was done so well! I had a fun time reading it, and it was uber romantic. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series- I enjoyed this one even more than the first.
2.5 stars 1. Luca was 🤮. First he hit on Saoirse at a party at his house. After she had to leave, even though he couldn’t stop thinking about her, he made absolutely no attempt to find her. Then, he went to the gym with his buddies and bragged about their hookup. Then, she met him by chance at a bar where he hit on the bartender right in front of her before accusing her of stalking him. 2. Even though Luca was desperate for her to marry him, he told her she wouldn’t be getting a wedding or a honeymoon because he was saving those for his “real wedding” but he “wouldn’t mind a wedding night”. 🤮 3. Luca had such a double standard. He admitted to himself that most nights, even the night that they were married, he “left the condo to do my own thing without giving her a second thought”. She had no idea where he was, what he was doing or who he was with. Yet, when he thought she was having an innocent lunch with a male co-worker, he had a tantrum. And, when he found a box of opened condoms in her bedside table, he got pissed off and threw them out because “she wasn’t bringing something she used with another man into my house”. 4. On one hand, Luca stood up for her and kept her mother and her mother’s aide from hurting her but on the other hand, he totally disrespected her by refusing to have sex with her in his home and only f#%king her in hotels like she was just another hookup. He even admitted to himself that he was putting absolutely no effort into the marriage. 5. The conflict in this book felt manufactured. For some time, Saoirse had been hoping that Luca would want to continue their marriage after the two year term was up but when he said that was he wanted, she wouldn't agree. It made no sense in the context of the story.

I've never read a Marriage of Inconvenience quite like this one! I was so excited for Saoirse's romance, being a huge fan of her older brother, Lachlan and Elena's romance last year. Saoirse and Luca delivered on everything I was hoping for and more!
From their first night running into each other at a party to discovering their unknown friend connections. These two just feel drawn to each other. When Luca needs a wife to get his father and his sister off his back and do what's best for the family business... he thinks Saoirse could be just perfect to help him out. For two years.... sure, that won't be difficult at all! Sharing a space with the chemistry they have is not going to be the cake walk they expect.
Saoirse is up for anything and I love that about her. But she's not planning to be tied down to anyone. She's seen what marriage can do to a couple even with the best intentions. So no matter that Luca gives her butterflies, orgasms, and it's nice to hold him tight on the back of his motorcycle... this arrangement has a time limit and they are sticking to it!
I really loved how the relationship blossomed between these two. I raised my eyebrows at some of their ridiculous rules to keep space between them, and I was over the moon when we visited a certain, cute little family on the ranch. This book just had me giggling and smiling the whole way through.
I was slightly peeved at how much we referred to the two year timeline. It's two years away, we don't have to harp on it! But I was charmed and my heart was happy the whole way through.
Also, I of course have to mention the lovely steam in this one. It had some particularly delightful scenes. Lot's of good spicy times where the emotion really comes through.
When will authors get that a hot-cold, verbally cruel man is NOT ATTRACTIVE. It may be ok for the first few chapters but showing that they changed in the last 95% is just plain lazy writing of their characters.
It’s 2023 for goodness sake, women shouldn’t accept crumbs of men not worth it even in books, actually specially in books, okay? This FMC here accepted that she was treated like a whore, yelling at her, insulting her, and even then she fell in love with the MMC 😭.
after an epic, almost one night stand, saoirse runs into that very same guy at a lunch with friends because he turns out to be the elusive luca they’re always mentioning but she’s yet to cross paths with. imagine her surprise when he’s also the ceo of the company she’s temping at. luca’s in hot water for his playboy ways so when he overhears her fib to her mom that she’s dating him, he proposes a solution to both of their problems… marriage.
this was such a fun one. i loved luca and saoirse’s back and forth and marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes ever. this one also had some added boundaries they don’t want to cross so their feelings don’t get mixed up… which they do, obviously.
i only wish this were a couple chapters longer because i would’ve liked to read luca’s pov about proposing the marriage to her and get more insight into when it from being fake to being real but i loved them!
almost dnf this a million times which is sad because i usually enjoy this author. i skimmed A LOT i thought we’d get saoirse and elliot together with an enemies to lovers/best friends brother romance but instead we get her with luca.
it makes no sense to me how they’ve been in the same friend group for YEARS but have never met???? don’t buy it at all. besides their first private meeting and the chance ones after that they literally don’t know each other and luca asks her to be his wife just bc he knows she doesn’t say no to things. saoirse doesn’t ever want to get married but says yes bc luca will get her a cat!!! 🤦🏽♀️ like miss girl isn’t an adult and couldn’t get her own damn cat whenever she wanted??
their wedding scene really disappointed me. luca was dressed in a 3 piece suit but was upset that saoirse wore a blush pink silk dress? what did he want her to wear jeans and a tshirt? gtfo
“I would like to save all those traditions for my future wife. I won’t say no to a wedding night, though.” “You’ll ditch all the traditions except the one involving sex. That makes sense.” this gave me the ick
make it make sense that they’re having sex in hotels bc at home it “blurs the lines” yet it was never a problem for him to bring home random women??? but his fake wife is off the table? it took until 78% and his sister staying at their house for them to sleep together both in the sense of the same bed and actual sex 🙄🙄
“The attraction of no commitments and living for moments of passion and excitement was still far too strong to give it up. Until I’d been forced to.”
“What kind of husband was I, fake or not, when I put no effort into this marriage? My wife was mingling, getting to know my family, dressing up for me, and all I could do was change my shirt in the back of the limo?”
“Dear god. He had to come to terms with sleeping with me. I didn’t think he realized how awful that sounded.”
luca finally gets his head out of his ass and tries to become a better husband/partner/friend to saoirse i guess but it bothered me how he was able to seem to unaffected almost their whole relationship while saoirse took any crumb of attention he gave her. luca made a point to not push her away when he was dealing with work issues yet did it anyway for the 3rd act (at 90%) when something happened to his sister and his feelings got a little hurt 🙄

Such a fabulous book - I absolutely loved it! I've been hoping for a Saorsie book since we met her in Sweet Like Poison as Lock's younger sister, and Julia did NOT disappoint! The writing was fantastic and her take on the "fake marriage" trope had me alternating between getting my heart strings pulled and laughing out loud. The chemistry between them was super hot. The true show stealer was Lock's son, Caleb, lol who's going to eventually need his own book :)
"A lighthouse is a beacon to follow home, to keep ships safe from crashing a focal point. On the other hand, an anchor locks a ship in one place and weighs it down."
Yes. That word has defined my life. Helping friends? Yes. Working for free? Yes. Marrying my boss so that he can improve his image? Yes. Luca Rossi, CEO of Rossi motors, is my boss and also... my unforgetable one night stand. We said we would start fresh. Start from scratch. So it makes sense to marry him right?
I'm not getting married. Nope. Not happening. No thank you. Let me live my bachelor life. But my sister says I have to. And I will do everything for her and for this company. I want to prove that I can be the CEO that no one believes I can be. So I choose the easiest choice. Nothing would go wrong. At least that's what I hoped...
"This girl might have the bubbly girl-next-door act down, but she was a little vixen through and through."
Wow. Wow. Wow. I received an Arc for this and I have never been more happy honestly. After reading "Dear Grumpy Boss" I was like there is no one that could top Weston and Elise. Well we have some competition because Luca Rossi can get it. Honestly the Italian Ceo vibe is working.
Saorise is amazing! I love her so much. Gives "takes no crap Bad B vibes" and I love that. I know I say this a lot but honestly Luca and Saorise could run me over with their motorcycle and I would ask them if they needed help changing their tires (P.S. I know nothing about tires).
Thank you Valentine PR and Julia Wolf for this Arc! Loved every single part.
And just for my spicy people:

Marriage of Convenience Workplace Friends with benefits

Luca and Saoirse's story was pretty much what I expected to be honest. I knew they would not be much of an emotional connection in the beginning when they entered their 2 year ''fake marriage''. I also knew there would be a lot of pushing away from Luca concerning his potential feelings towards her. He seemed to be someone who just did not want to be tied down and it shows in the way he lived his life until he was basically (forced) to stop living his bachelor manwhore lifestyle since he took over as CEO.
I liked Saoirse tbh, she was someone who was easily friends with everyone and was selfish to a fault. She decides to enter the marriage even though she does not believe in marriage at all only to help Luca out. Nothing more.
One thing that bugged me was how Luca refused to be with her sexually in their home because to him it meant it was more than it was supposed to be so they would meet during their lunch break at a hotel like they were having an affair?
Though I will say they gradually became more and more intimate in terms of their feelings are things moved forward.
The scene where he is in fear of losing everything (his own fear) and basically demands she tell him she will never leave him was intense, you could see and feel his desperation. It scared her and this causes them to have a huge fight and for him to basically end everything between them.
They are separated for a short amount of time with Luca coming to terms with his issues and groveling to get her back and actually TALK things through.
I think my main issue with this book was the fact that a lot of the story also focused on side characters that had their own issues and it’s kind of sometimes overshadowed the MC's story.
I also wonder if the gang will ever know their marriage was fake in the beginning?? I was waiting for that reveal to happen, but it never did.
The romance development was weak. The h was verbally cruel to the weak FMC. The FMC was too flighty and lacked a backbone. What a cringe worthy read in my opinion. DNF.
Overall: This was right up my ally since I have a weakness for fake-to-real or arranged marriage type stories, only this fell flat for me. I liked the h but I felt like I never really connected with the H. Beyond lust, I didn't really feel the progression to feelings or even the tension that typically comes with these stories (at least the good ones), and then on the flip side, it felt like a switch was flipped and then it became a little too fluffy. The conflict was weird -- I'm still confused what that was about! I'm giving it a little less than 3 "just okay" stars.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Saoirse and Luca's story. They meet at a house party and have a steamy encounter that gets interrupted only to meet soon after from mutual friends. Saoirse is also working as a temp in Luca's family business. Luca is told he needs to change his image and get married for his newly appointed CEO position, and he propositions Saoirse for a temporary arrangement. They dance around each other but finally give in to their attraction and start to develop feelings. There is some family drama, some sweet moments, and some sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Saoirse and Luca's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Alright. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well for the most part, but it did feel a little slow for the last 1/4 or so.
Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.
H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Luca. I thought he was okay. He still kind of felt like a mystery in some ways.
h (heroine) rating: 4 stars. Saoirse. I liked her. I liked her self confidence, strength, and kindness.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.
Descriptive sex: Yes
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No, just some mild jealousy
Sex scene with OW or OM: No
Cheating: No
Separation: No
Possible Triggers: Yes
Closure: This ends in an alright place with what I would call a HEA ending even though I would've liked a farther glimpse into their future.
Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

I really enjoyed the second book in ‘The Harder They Fall’ series and their banter was amazing!! 🥰
I was so happy to continue reading more because the first book was so good and all the character were just wonderful!
Julia Wolf is an author to watch because she writes beautiful stories that are worth to read! ❤️
The story starts with Saoirse, she was invited by an acquaintence to a party that a far related relative gave from Luca, the owner of the penthouse without his permission. There was so much attraction which almost ended in a wild night together.
She starts working at her new job at Rossi Motors and Saoirse didn't know that it was Luca's company. He needs a marriage of convenience to help with his bad reputation and didn't want anyone other than Saoirse..
Thank you to Valentine PR, Julia Wolf and the publisher for providing me with this copy. All opinions are my own.
I know whenever I pick up a Julia Wolf book I’m in for a good time. She never misses for me! I had a lot of fun reading this one and liked it even more than the first book in this series! How can you go wrong with a marriage of convenience trope? Both characters were likeable to me and I’m a sucker for a secret mush ball as the MMC.
I love all body representation in books but it was nice reading about a tall, itty bitty FMC. The curvy figured women are always portrayed with the ideal body while thinner women are often depicted as the “bad women” in romance stories and as someone who is just a tall pole, it was nice for a change.
I hate no complaints. It was just a good contemporary romance! I’m assuming/hoping Elliot’s book is next and I’m excited to see where that goes!
Luca and Saoirse met at his place when his cousin was throwing a party the time he spent with her he was already smitten wanting to take it up a level. But sadly they didn't and things moved on when they both ran into one another they played it off as running into eachother until one day things got alittle not to happy and found out the share the same friend group. Which is so wired they NEVER met.. when they have been friends with the same group for a while. A deal is being made between the two since he knows she can't say no to ppls or friends and knows he has more fun with her than any person.
It's a rocky start for them as husband and wife they have rules, and they know they won't cross those lines, and it works for a bit until those lines are blurred. They do have rocky moments, and sometimes both did make me wanna shake them from Luca being a douche many times and Saoirse being a pushover and a yes woman. I'm glad they both come to their sense when the "break up" happened.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, secondary characters, drama, sexy times, no virgins (they talked about their past)

"A lighthouse is a beacon to follow home, to keep ships safe from crashing a focal point. On the other hand, an anchor locks a ship in one place and weighs it down."
I finished the second book in the series, and it was great! In this story, we meet Saoirse, who is Elise's best friend, and Luca, who is Elliot's best friend. The fun part? They’ve never met until a party at Luca's cousin's house, where they end up crossing paths without realizing they have mutual friends! Luca recently became the CEO of Rossi Motor after his father had a sudden heart attack. Unfortunately, he has a bit of a wild reputation—he loves partying and is often seen with different women, which makes a lot of people question his ability to lead the company. To turn things around, Luca decides he needs a wife to help fix his image. So, he proposes a marriage of convenience to Saoirse for two years! They both agree to the arrangement, thinking they won't develop real feelings. However, as they spend more time together, something beautiful begins to blossom between them.
“key to her long and happy marriage is choosing each other. The choice didn’t happen only once at the altar. They have continued to choose each other throughout their lives together.”
Luca's character in this book is quite different from what we saw in the first one! Back then, he was this laid-back guy who enjoyed partying and had casual flings. Now, though, he’s stepped into a big role as the new CEO, and with that comes a lot of pressure and responsibility. He’s more reserved and can be a bit annoying at times, but I get why he’s acting this way. Saoirse, on the other hand, is a free spirit! She loves traveling, meeting new people, and hopping from job to job. Because of her parents’ history, she’s not really into marriage—until Luca proposes a temporary marriage contract. The fact that it has an end date makes her consider it more seriously.
I enjoyed watching Luca and Saoirse’s relationship unfold! They have this undeniable attraction right from the start, and their chemistry is electric. It was a bit frustrating at times when they didn’t want to admit their feelings, but I loved their friendship and the honesty they shared. Their playful banter is also hilarious! One of my favorite moments was when they spent time at Saoirse's family ranch—it was so heartwarming. If you’re a fan of the marriage of convenience trope, this book is worth checking out!
“You’re Saoirse Rossi now. You get to start anew and be the woman you want to be. There are no expectations, no pressure. It’s up to you to shape your path. I want you to know I’m fucking proud of you. I admire the strength it takes to strike out on your own. You might be scared, but I’ve got your back, so there’s no need for you to fear.”
Marriage of convenience is one of my favourite tropes ever, but this was rather decent than great.
I liked their first interaction, but a lot of times the pacing was off in-between. There were sweet moments and there's a cat thrown here in the mix, but I would not be rereading this 👉👈
After reading so many billionaire romances in a row I start to get mad that I didn't somehow win over a sexy billionaire with my mundane peasantry. UGH.
I don’t think my love for marriage of convenience romance is any secret, so believe me when I say this is undoubtedly one of the BEST I’ve ever read. This book was such an entertaining read for me. The premise in itself was captivating and engaging for me; had me hooked till the very end. The relationship between Saoirse and Luca is based on marriage of convenience in which these two MCs slowly happen to falling in love. As, they struggle to trust each other and were often the target of their mutual mood swings which happens to lead to the very fun banter sessions 😭 And all their family drama had me enthralled through and through. Overall, the romance was passionate, entertaining and intense. And, the characters are powerful, charismatic and impassioned. All, in all, I loved it.
This was awesome. Fun and so steamy! This was heavy on the spice and filled with sike of my favorite tropes. We have a swoon worthy hero and a strong heroine. I adored the pacing and overall this was a great summer read! I always know that Julia will never disappoint me. This is not one of her dark reads but it was as delicious! Loved it.
I’ve never read a modern marriage of convenience story. All of the bones were here for this to turn into a great book, but it wasn’t very well-executed. The spicy scenes were imaginative, and our MMC, Luca, had some great speeches. 3/5
Ok, I’m joking, but Luca didn’t really impress me for a while. Another manwhore alert - which in this case added nothing to the story except making me not like him? We only actively see one woman he’s slept with once in the past but she also adds nothing to the story.
The worst to me is when he’s meeting Saoirse’s dad and the dad is like I’ve seen you when all these random women in the press and Luca is like I’m not ashamed of my past at all! Ok? It’s a strange dichotomy because he’s the one who wants a real wife one day and she’s against marriage.
Basically I love an obsessed man and Luca wasn’t giving that for like 75% of the book. He doesn’t treat Saoirse that well because he’s trying to keep her at arms length, but his distance went on forever. He said he’s saving traditions for his real marriage but would have wedding night sex if she wants. 😒 And then for half the book, he leaves her to do his own thing and doesn’t even think about her to the point where Saoirse actually thinks he’s leaving to have tons of random hook ups. (He’s not thankfully)
At 50% he says he regrets getting married and hopes going forward he won’t have to put as much thought into the marriage.
And then the best part…he doesn’t want to “blur” the lines so when they decide to do it, they have sex in a hotel on their lunch break every day, because he doesn’t want to do it in their home. And Saoirse is just ok with all this.
Honestly, I was more excited about her starting her new business than their romance for a while!
Finally I did start to like him a little. I liked that he stood up to her mom and defended her. I liked how he got her a cat. And I did appreciate that he’s close to his family and there for them.
Honestly, Saoirse was never that put off by his behavior so the nice things were amazing to her. She’s like oh he’s setting the bar so high for how I should be treated - ma’am where??
When he wants to email the company they can’t hang out after hours because they excluded her? That’s what I wanted more of the whole time!! A man who’s crazy for his woman. 😅
I mean, he came around at the end. I did like how he had to go find her, and I was rooting for their happiness despite him being a turd for a while. I just would’ve liked way more time of him giving in and them outside of spicy times.
Overall, not my favorite, but it was written well and I read it quickly - It might be for you.

This book is why I read romance!! It delivered emotional depth, clever banter and smoking hot sexiness. There’s many fun, engaging secondary characters. The story had me fully entertained; I laughed, I had giddy butterflies and felt deep emotions at times. Saoirse and Luca are witty, straightforward, loyal and well matched in their fiery natures. She’s carefree, thoughtful and brings the sunshine. She’s immensely lovable and is so respectable in the way she treats people. She has such a giving nature. There is nothing not to admire about her. Luca is sexy, intelligent, caring and so much more. His thoughtfulness and loyalty to family and friends is strong. I love his honesty that’s mixed with a tiny bit of stubbornness. He has a hidden, sensitive artistic side that made me swoon. I think he’s my forever book boyfriend, he’s that incredible. The story is fairly low drama and angst. It was such a pleasurable read. I enjoyed the lightness, the characters honesty, the sexual tension and spicy scenes were amazing. This author always delivers on super hot and steamy scenes. I love that they don’t play emotional games. They push each other’s buttons in a fun way, there’s no manipulation behind it. I could say so much more….read it if you love romance, if you love a sexy alpha who goes sweet for the right woman. Read it if you love a heroine who’s sweet, fiery and a great person. It’s the total romance package, I obviously love it hard. Also, I love the character crossover’s from some of the authors previous books. I love interconnected worlds. A new top favorite book and book character’s!
