It was a win-win arrangement…until Caroline lost her heart…
Caroline Rossi needs to reinvent her life. Being a geotechnical engineer hasn’t exactly proved to be a guy magnet. She’s never really had the opportunity to let her hair down and have fun. But when a chance encounter with her big sister’s brother-in-law—millionaire Josh Campbell—leads to a night of unexpected passion, Caroline starts engineering an arrangement that will give them both what they want. She can help Josh with an important real estate project and he can school her in the art of amour.
At first Josh balks—but there’s something irresistible about Caroline, something very different from the bombshells he usually dates. Can the friends with benefits agreement really work? Or are Caroline and Josh playing a dangerous game that may end in heartbreak?

If she's more than ten miles away from salt water for any longer than a week, she gets twitchy.
I have to say, after reading this for the third time, this is my favorite of the 'Forever Love' series.
Caroline Rossi is a 27-year-old virgin and a geotechnical engineer who has never seriously dated. Her mother and sister, Meg, take it upon themselves to micro-manage her life to the point that Caroline steers clear of them. They simply refuse to let her live her own life, make her own decisions and it has caused Caroline to doubt herself, making her very insecure. They treat her as though she's a ten-year-old child without the ability or wisdom to make a choice without them telling her every move to make. With all of her schooling, she has not taken the time to let her hair down and live a little...until she runs into multi-millionaire, Josh Campbell, the boy/man she has loved since she was twelve. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from book one but I have to say that Meg, the heroine in book one, was very difficult to like in this book. In fact I thought she was pretty awful trying to run/ruin Caroline's life.
Josh Campbell sees Caroline in a bar on a Friday evening being hit on by her boss, who has made a very bad habit of wanting Caroline too much. Josh comes to her rescue and offers her dinner. They pick up pizza and take it to his place and with a little too much wine...they have one night of amazing passion. Josh is dismayed when he realized Caroline was a virgin. He didn't do virgins...he dates polished bombshells with lots of experience. He can have anyone he wants and does so without regret but with Caroline it feels different from the rest and that scares him to death. Caroline offers Josh a deal. She'll help him with a very important real estate project and in exchange he can school her in the art of lovemaking.
I was surprised this book didn't have a higher rating. I thought it was an excellent 5-star read and held me spellbound throughout. I more than highly recommend this. It could be read as a stand alone but it is much better to read 'The Temporary Wife' first and there is a total of six books in this series.
Jeannie Moon is a wordly wonder. Great work Ms Moon. Keep them coming!
All I'm going to say is I was lucky enough to beta read this book. I loved book 1 from debut author Jeannie Moon and was really looking forward to book 2, so when she asked if I'd beta read, I jumped at the chance and she did not let me down. If anything, book 2 is even better.
I fell instantly in love with Josh Campbell. Could totally relate to Caroline Rossi on so many levels. The continuing sage of the Campbell/Rossi storyline was interesting, with enough conflict going on to make their journey believable. The love story fun, sweet and sexy and will have you laughing, crying and cheering for these two.
Put this on your TBR list, move it to the top. You're going to love it.
Jeannie Moon has written another beautiful and deeply romantic Forever Love Story. UNEXPECTLY YOURS is the fabulously well-written tale of Caroline Rossi, who was always considered the smart one (well she is a geotechnical engineer) when compared to her sister Meg, the pretty one. Despite the fact Caroline is now 27 years old and has an excellent job, her family can only see her as the baby of the family. They refuse to take her personal dreams serious or let her live her own life. This same treatment is somewhat repeated at work, where as one of three female engineers out of sixty she is not taken seriously. Even worse her boss has been passing her over on some of the plum jobs ever since she refused his inappropriate advances.
The story starts off with Caroline in a Manhattan bar with a work friend who is trying to push her into drinks and dinner with their creepy boss. Josh Campbell, Jason’s older brother, just happens to be in that same bar and notices Caroline in need of a way out. He comes to her rescue by claiming her for dinner plans with him. Caroline is happy to be out of the uncomfortable situation and thrilled to be noticed by Josh after all this time because she has had a crush on him since she was twelve living on his family’s estate. They plan an innocent night of pizza and watching a movie back at his apartment, but soon are caught up in a sparking sexual chemistry. Josh is surprised how irresistible “Little Rossi” has grown up to be. He has been fine with his lifestyle of no-strings-attached flings, but with Caroline it feels different, he feels an emotional attachment and that scares him to death. Still even though he tries to be good, he finds it impossible. He tells himself as long as it’s just once it will all be fine.
Caroline has no such qualms. Josh is the man she has always wanted and realizes this may be her one and only chance so she goes for it. She has a surprise for Josh, which when discovered makes him even more determined it’s best to keep her at a distance. Caroline is only more certain he is the only man for her and she suggests since they will have continued contact through work anyways (she is helping him with a real estate project) they may as well pursue a friends with benefits relationship knowing he’s too freaked out for anything else. At first Josh turns that idea down flat, but when he can’t get her out of his head he relents.
So what started off as an accidental meeting soon becomes something neither can resist and they find themselves spending more and more time together. Her family interferes, his family interferes, her boss tries to interfere, but all this only serves to unite them even more. Josh was wonderful and I liked him so much in his role as the hero. I mean, this millionaire is a gorgeous, powerful, sexy, strong, loving, gentle, funny, protective and with the way he believed in and supported Caroline? How could I not fall for him too? Caroline definitely had her insecurities, and is naïve in some ways, but when she made up her mind about something she was a fighter. I loved her spunky personality and enjoyed reading about her battle for respect and independence. The two of them were perfect together making every page of this book a pleasure to read. I loved this one and just know you will too!

This is a contemporary with a billionaire hero and a virgin heroine, but, wait, come back! Despite the stereotypes and predictable behavior, I actually found myself enjoying this book. Sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants, right?
The first book in this series was about Meg and Jason, and this book, the second, is about Meg’s younger sister Caroline and Jason’s older brother Josh. As one character says, it’s kind of incestuous. Meg and Caroline grew up on the estate of Jason and Josh’s parents, so there was probably some classism in the first book. It turns out that those parents are rude, wicked, evil, all the horrible manipulative things that people can be without physical abuse.
The story begins when Josh rescues Caroline from a creepy guy at a bar, and my first thought was, oh no. Not another rich alphahole rescuing a perfectly capable woman. But Josh wasn’t too domineering, and he didn’t flash his money around. He and Caroline just get some pizza, hang out at his place, get drunk, and have sex.
Why is Caroline a 26-year-old virgin? Because college was so hard, you guys! She is known as the smart sister, while Meg was known as the pretty one. Caroline has issues with being treated as the baby, and other people always telling her what to do, even though she’s got an engineering degree and a good job.
Josh is freaked out about being her first time, because it seems to imply a relationship. He doesn’t do that. Josh goes out with glamorous socialites to high-profile events, sophisticated women who talk about fashion and are fine with casual sex. In comparison, Caroline is inexperienced yet brave, and so responsive! He feels protective towards her, but his libido is right up there, too.
They hang out first as friends, because for family reasons they don’t think a relationship is a good idea. But Caroline gets bold and makes her move, which of course Josh can’t resist.
Even though Josh thinks he can get Caroline out of his system, he can’t. Even though he thinks he’s no good for her, he keeps seeing her. He has standard hero thoughts but doesn’t make stupid decisions like lying to her or dumping her for her own good. Yay, Josh!
Caroline, through Josh’s influence, learns to stand up for herself at work and with her nosy, controlling sister and mother. She even comes clean about her secret desire to be a romance author. She’s not a baby anymore!
This book won’t shock you or surprise you, but it will make you smile. And sometimes that’s all you need.
Caroline Rossi has spent her whole life being told what to do by parents, siblings, co-workers and even friends. Caroline has decided that she is done being told what to do and is going to start making her own decisions in both her work and personal work. When a chance encounter has her spending the evening with her brother-in-law and childhood crush Josh Campbell, Caroline is going to take the opportunity to finally act on her feelings. Being the unexperienced in the bedroom she gets Josh to give her some tips and soon finds her crush blossoming into full blown love.
Josh Campbell has always kept women at arms length while he has worked to amass his fortune and success at his family firm. Saving his sister-in-law Caroline from a jerk at a bar had Josh finally getting to know the shy woman and he finds that he likes her a lot. Caroline brings out a side of Josh he never knew he had and she constantly throws him for a loop. As family and business start to intertwine Josh finds himself willing to do anything to keep Caroline by his side forever.
I really liked Unexpectedly Yours at first but after a few chapters I kept feeling like I had read this book before even though I hadn’t The millionaire meets shy, quiet virgin has been done over and over and there was nothing really special about Josh or Caroline to set them apart from the other couples in the same scenario. I had a very hard time finishing this book and found it very anticlimactic.
I liked Josh but I had a very big problem with him acting like he knew what was best for Caroline and not listening to her when she said she was okay. I wasn’t a big fan of Caroline until she started sticking up for herself to not only Josh but the rest of her family. The way her family treated her was horrible and her sister needed someone to smack her. Meg was the heroine in the first book in this series and I thought she was just horrible to Caroline and one of my least favorite characters in the book. I was really disappointed with this book and found it sadly boring and predictable.
Unexpectedly Yours: A Forever Love Story by Jeannie Moon tells the unlikely story of Caroline Rossi love affair with her older sister’s brother-in-law Josh Campbell. When Caroline and Josh run into each other in a Manhattan bar she is just happy he is there to get her out of an uncomfortable situation. Having always had a crush on him, awkward Caroline feels like he is out of her league, but she is surprised and thrilled that an innocent run-in can lead to a night of passion. Their continued contact through work means the friends with benefits relationship can go on, but is an affair enough to sustain a life-long relationship?
The one thing that really struck me about this story was the level of family involvement ith the character’s lives. Although Caroline is one the first to admit she is inexperienced and a bit naive, this is reinforced constantly by her mother and sister. Their continued involvement in her life is so overwhelming that it detracts from the story of the two main characters, and her family has nothing on Josh’s parents. Caroline is so painfully naive and innocent your heart can not help but connect with her. You will find yourself wanting her to be successful and get what she wants out of life, because it is painfully obvious she hasn’t gotten what she wanted in the past. Her insecurity is also one that will frustrate and befuddle you at times. Josh is a gem, and one who Caroline is lucky to find. His unwavering patience in the midst of her insecurity and problems at work only enhance his likability. These two old friends are destined for greatness, and you can’t help but get swept in on their journey.

Unexpectedly Yours by Jeannie Moon was an entertaining read. It was a fun, sweet, loving story that has the reader laughing and crying. There is the right amount of conflict and angst without dragging the reader down. Although the plot is predictable, it is well executed with a few unique twist.
Unexpectedly Yours is the second book in A Forever Love series. A Forever Love series is an outstanding addition in the Contemporary Romance genre. If you like Jennifer Probst or Bella Andre, you will love Jeannie Moon. Her writing is crisp, witty, and sensual.
The reader can relate to the characters, that in normal circumstances would not be drawn together. We meet the awkward, geeky Caroline Rossi. She is smart, directed, and uptight. She has a chance encounter with her older sister’s brother in law, Josh Campbell. Josh and Caroline make an arrangement that leads them to love.
Unexpectedly Yours by Jeannie Moon is the perfect kind of book to read during this busy pre holiday season.
The first 20% of this book was engaging and interesting. Unfortunately, the book didn't hold my attention. I found that there were pages of exposition where the hero and heroine were just thinking about the other. And this happened at the expense of actual scenes between them showing relationship development which lead me to skim quite a bit. This also needed a more careful edit. Another issue I had is that I didn't recall Meg being a shrill, annoying harpy like she was in this book. If I had read this first, I never would have picked up Meg and Jason's story. This felt like I was starting a completely different series than the first book.
I received an ARC for an honest review. I loved that she wrote about a character that was writing a romance story. That was a great twist on a standard theme. There we're good descriptions and the writing was solid. I would definitely read more by this author, just not sure I would race out to get it the day it was released.
I liked it but I found some of the previous book's characters completely different, I mean: MEG. Seriously? She was adorable in the first book and I couldn't stand her in this one! What's wrong? And she wasn't the only one. And please, stop thinking that your sister is a baby: she's 27 years old, for f*** sake!!
I love this book! Wonderfully written it's a story that grabs your heart from the very first page and keeps you smiling long after the last. This is definitely a book I recommend for everyone.
I'm in a reading slump, so a writing-review slump usually follows. But because I write reviews mainly for me (helping others is just a side benefit...I hope 😊), I feel compelled to write something so I can at least remember what I read.
Unfortunately, as much as I have loved so many Jeannie Moon books, this one fell far short of the excellent writing and storylines I've come to expect. My motto is Less Pecs, More Plot and there was far too much talking about body parts and hawtness for me. Also, there were some plotlines left hanging...what happened with the heroine's stalker? how did the whole situation with the hero leaving his family's business go down???
I will say the one good think is that this was a "best friend's little sister" story that - for once - wasn't bogged down by "I can't be with you because your brother would kill me" malarky. So I give the author bonus points for that!
Caroline is the youngest in the family and even at 27 years old she is still questioned and pushed on her decisions. Josh sees her and hears her but the reality is that there are fights ahead for both i n their personal and career paths. Absolutely recommend this book and it seems the whole series.
This was the second "heroine is still a virgin and wants to lose her virginity to her brother's friend" book I read in a row - and I hate that trope. So it is hard to 100% blame the book. But I will blame the book for the blatant unsafe sex without consequences. The hero and heroine were each kind of bland, to be honest. Meg, the shouty sister stole each scene she was in. I wish the Campbell brothers didn't both have J names. Overall - absolutely not my favorite. :::shrugs:::
Caroline Rossi has had a crush on Josh Campbell forever, her family grew up on the Campbell estate and her sister Meg is now married to Josh's brother Jason making them sort of family but Josh still only barely acknowledges her existence. So when Josh steps in and rescues Caroline at a bar one Friday night from her slightly creepy boss Mark, Caroline didn't think for one minute that she would end the night slightly tipsy in Josh's bed.
After a night of passion with Josh, Caroline is no longer a 27 year old virgin and Josh who has always seen sex as just being sex, panics when he realises that Caroline was indeed a virgin. Josh really doesn't want to be anyone's first he's used to dating glamorous but vacant women but something about Caroline's sweet personality and intelligence really appeals to him. The next day Caroline gets a little bolder and proposes a friends with benefits arrangement to Josh in which she will help him with the site assessments he needs for his latest project if he teaches her about sex.
I quite enjoyed Caroline and Josh's little friends with benefits romance, despite being a smart cookie geotechnical engineer Caroline has led a quite sheltered life and is pretty much told what to do by her slightly overbearing sister and mother. With no time to date in college Caroline always assumed she would find a boyfriend once she graduated and started working but just hadn't found the right guy yet. I found Caroline to be quite sweet, although maybe a little too sweet at times for me. Understandably lacking in self confidence, Caroline has always seen herself as being the smart sister and has lived pretty much in the shadow of her prettier and more confident sister Meg. Personally, although I couldn't wait for Caroline to finally stand up to her controlling and interfering mother and sister, I found it quite hard to believe that a woman who is obviously incredibly intelligent, could have put up with still getting treated like a child at the age of 27.
Caroline and Josh's relationship isn't obviously as straightforward as they would like it to be with their shared history and family connections but I still ended up rooting for them both especially when Josh sticks up for Caroline and gives her mother and sister what for after they've dismissed her lifelong dream of being a romance author as being a "little hobby". Overall I did enjoy Unexpectedly Yours it's a sweet little contemporary romance and worth a read.
Unexpectedly Yours is the second book in the Forever Love series from Jeannie Moon and is about Caroline Rossi and Josh Campbell, younger sister to Megan Rossi and older brother to Jason Campbell from The Temporary Wife, respectively. I loved how Caroline and Josh had been around each other for years and while Caroline may have had a crush on him, their coming together as a couple was truly unexpected. Even after that one night together, they were able to have this genuine care and concern for each other and formed this honest-to-goodness friendship that proved to be a great foundation for them to have a relationship. They were sweet to and supportive of one another that I couldn't help ooh and aah.
Setting aside my feelings toward Meg, I must say that I enjoyed this second book far more than I did its predecessor. There was drama but there wasn't the kind of angst that was rampant in the first book. There was also this wonderful dynamic between Jason and Caroline that made them such an easy couple of lead characters to fall in love with and cheer on as they worked their way to a happily ever after they deserved. Theirs was a story about taking chances and going after the things that will bring happiness and contentment and never having to settle for what everyone else thinks is okay. Out of all the five books that I've read in the series so far, Unexpectedly Yours is definitely my favorite. This gets five out of five stars. ♥
Caroline Rossi might come from what seems like the perfect family and brilliant, but it didn’t stop the struggles she has had. Especially when it comes to even just having fun let alone finding a guy. She decides one night to take a chance and in true engineering fashion makes a deal with her sister’s brother-in-law, the guy she has had a crush on since she was 12. Will this connection not only have her let her hair down but maybe follow a dream she’s always had.
When Josh Campbell runs into his sister-in-law’s sister Caroline one night at a bar, he never expects it to go from doing a quick rescue from a jerk who just happens to be her boss at the geotechnical engineering company he is working with to an amazing passionate night. When she offers a deal in which they can both help each other, he realizes maybe it is time for him to settle down after all. Because there is no denying there is a definite connection between the two of them, one that could lead to either severe heartbreak or true love.
This book is the second in a series and honestly I liked it better than the first one. Not many people realize how hard it can be for some women to work in an area that is dominated by men. This book catches your attention and keeps it throughout the whole time.
Absolutely beautiful story! I was a little leery at first with Josh's story. I was afraid of the type of man he would be. But from the get go, I liked him. He was so much more than I thought he would be. He was strong, protective, loving, fierce, gentle! And Caroline! She was a hot mess! I loved her no filter, shy but strong, fighting for her independence. And the two together, total magic!
And the last chapter as well as the epilogue melted my heart. I adored Meg's words and then Caroline's acknowledgement. Beautiful!
3.5* Caroline and Josh are a sweet couple. Caroline has been in love with Josh since she was 13....and Josh saw her as the little sister of his best friend. Years later they re-connect. They start out with a steamy night of sex, bit then move into a friends only zone. Eventually, the guve in to their attraction (again) and move forward. The drama comes from his overbearing father, but I believe he'll get what he deserves.
I enjoyed the first book and it was pretty much standalone but it was still comfortable having had read the first book first. It was running into long lost friends. I really liked the characters and it didn't seem so insta love but more like right time for Josh to feel both comfortable with a lady as friends and also have chemistry. I liked how he was so careful with her but as he saw her strength he took time to admire that about her. Josh's dad and Mark were great bad guys!!!
I adore this book. Short, sweet, sexy! A smart but naieve woman and a strong, confident man that she had a crush on for years makes for an enjoyable read. Go for it you won't be sorry. I looked that the plot has some unexpected twists. No spoilers from me ;-) I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a straightforward romance but what I liked about it is at the girl is a geotechnical engineer which adds a nice modern dimension and an interesting occupation. She is somewhat typecast but she comes across as competent and creative. The guy is an Ivy League man who is supposedly out of her league and the attitudes of some men like him leave a lot to be desired.
Love the book ,hate Meg in the story ,also the author did not keep track of time line ,she said more the once 6 months past from the first book ,then a few more went by ,and Caroline keep we the 6 months . still the book is great.
second book in the series, Caroline and Josh's story, good series, quick to read with lively conversation, great characters, and sexy scenes. good continuation of series overall storyline and incorporation of other characters from the first book.
