Interesting, I guess

I didn't think this was a particularly captivating story but I think my younger children might like it. It was mildly interesting, and just okay. I did like the pictures.

Explains where my lost items are

Father and son take on a monster that is stealing items from around the house only to eat later. The monster gives them quite a fright. They devise a plan to trap him but can only watch as he eats their items. Monster realizes he needs to return the items so he sticks his arm down his throat to retrieve them. In the end, father and son learn a valuable lesson in making sure they put their belongings in place.

Very simple premise. I was barely entertained and wouldn't expect young kiddos to be either.

Although I enjoy reading The Monster That Ate Our Keys, I am left wanting to learn more about what would eventually happen at his dad's job and how will the son deal with the bully at his school. Other than that the book is funny and warmhearted. The illustrations of the monster is silly and I believe won't scare a child. The lettering is readable that I always like. I don't have to go searching for my bifocals.
I recommend the book since parents, caregivers and children are able to talk about what troubles them and how they deal with their problems.

The Monster That Ate Our Keys
Colorful children's book about a monster. Starts out with Dad and his regular routine but he needs his car keys and he can't find them.
The boy thinks he sees a blight flash of orange...they look all over for the missing keys. While collecting change in the couch he finds the culprit and his dad comes to help.
They corner him in the bathroom...they each come up with a different idea that might work....
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.

My son liked that they got the keys in the end and made it to where they were supposed to be.

It was a good length book not so long that my 6 year old lost interest, not so short that we were not reading for at least ten minutes over the course of two days to finish the story. Just right and it was a fun story.

A quaint way of explaining lost things

A quaint way of explaining where lost things might be. I'm sure the 'monster'' would be accepted by the over 10s without nightmares.
Its good that there is a series.

Willingness to share to help others.

Read this with my seven year old grandson. The title was so appropriate because missing keys, remotes, chargers, phones are normal occupancies in his life. Chris truly enjoyed this story and related with it.

Once again this was a book my niece shared with me. I thought it was a fun, cute book. Perfect for a young reader. Might be too much action for bedtime. Wonderful illustrations.

The writing could have been tighter, with less of the father and more of the monster. Also, this could have been better illustrated. Other than that, the book has a nice concept.

Funny

It was funny, and they worked as a team. They didn't give up after failing, but tried new ideas. My children enjoyed reading this story.
