The Healer #1

The Touch

Rate this book
AJ McCallister can cure any illness with a single touch. Sometimes, however, the laws of his secret clan forbid it. In a search for normalcy, the Healer finds more than a new home down south in Lee as the hard to resist Addie steals his heart. He faces a momentous decision between abiding by his Clan’s laws or allowing a Grim to kill Addie and her daughter. Either way he will end up alone and must decide which is harder: living next to Addie without her love, or not having her around at all?

This was okay. I almost DNFed this one since the heroine seemed weak. She was engaged to an abusive man just so she would not be alone. Plus, it felt like she was the one trying to make a relationship with the hero verses the other way around. However, I stayed with the story. I wanted to know what would happen. There is a lot of inner monologue and some of it felt repetitive. I found myself skimming to get to the end. Some of the info could have been edited out.

Side note: I have already read book 2 and really enjoyed it. A lot less of useless and repetitive info. I am glad that I did not DNF book 1.

I really like the idea and the concept of the book. I love how AJ and Addie act towards each other and how they always bicker. Addie's little girl, Rose, is so adorable. I loved all the characters except for Devin, he was very very annoying. Honestly the book was very good, I did find a few typos but that's not that big of a deal. I love how the romance between the two characters wasn't pg but wasn't R, so a person my age could read it with knowing some things. The ending was so unexpected, I knew that he had no right, that he wasn't strong enough to, but I thought it was fight where he would mysteriously find a way to win like a cliche book would, but that wasn't the case. I can't wait to read the second book and for the third to come out. I really liked it Allie if you're reading this.

It was a well written and touching story about forbidden love. That being said, it didn't draw me in. That's too bad too because I really hoped it would.

Good Book!

I liked this first book of the series. The ending leaves you to imagine what you think might have happened.
