The Grey God The Grey God Darian can’t quite shake off the dark streak remaining after the thousands of years he spent enslaved by evil – or the memory of how the only woman he loved betrayed him. When given a second chance at life and love, Darian struggles to leave his past behind, before it destroys his future. The warrior destined to become his mate, Jenn, is accustomed to fighting – and defeating – dangerous men. But Darian isn’t just another powerful man, he’s immune to her mind reading talent and completely unpredictable, a trait sure to get anyone near him killed. Rather than embrace her destiny at his side, Jenn defies it in an attempt to protect him and her own heart.
I breathe stories. I dream them. If it were possible, I'd eat them, too. (I'm pretty sure they'd taste like cotton candy.) I can't escape them - they're everywhere! Which is why I write! I was born to bring the crazy worlds and people in my mind to life, and I love sharing them with as many people as I can.
I'm also the bestselling, award winning, internationally acclaimed author of over sixty titles and counting. This series thrust you a world of immortals, gods, eternal wars and choices. The romance in this is book is emotionally charged with physical glimpses. If you are looking for heavy physical romances this is not for you but if are a a fan of deep romances this is one you may want to check out. The characters are developed well and the storyline is defined. The struggle between light vs dark, the consequences of the choices we make and how Love may just come when least expected and not necessarily entirely welcome but when it comes sometimes you may just have to accept fate.
Because of the way Goodreads reading challenge is set up I had to read this series as separate novels. But the books were fantastic! I was a little leery about them since they had no real love scenes to speak of, but Ms.Ford pulled it off beautifully. All four books were reread worthy. I've already purchased the next one. Can't wait to get started.
All four of the War of Gods books together in one collection. I didn't blurb these because they've actually been out on their own for awhile, so just some reactions instead...
The first book in the set Damian's Oracle was pretty good. I'd actually gotten that book as a freebie, but at .99 for this set I thought it was worth it to get this too. Glad I did because this first book has a 'soft' ending and I would be going nuts if I didn't have the next one.
I liked the second book Damian's Assassin too, its nice that the characters carry through the stories, with a different pair in the lead this time though. It was odd to have the love scene totally left out (with a skip to the morning after and a sated heroine) but there was enough interesting things happening to make me want to read the other two books.
I liked Jule's book Damian's Immortal too and his heroine. So, three for three. These are light but still enjoyable, though I am happy that I am reading them as a set, because they do really go together."
The final book The Gray God sort of wrappers the whole series, it starts out by going back in time before Darian's betrayal and finishes off with his HEA and a big finish that decides the fate of the world. I liked it even more than the rest because there is so much going on, even though the Darian and his heroine don't spend much time together in the book.
I guess one thing that I have liked about the books is that all of the heroines were great and they all get a decent amount of screen time. The books are odd for me though because all though there are elements of sensuality in some of the stories there isn't an on screen consummation in any of them - I would have like just a tiny bit of 'in the moment' I don't need messy details but I'd have liked the emotional connection of taking those relationships to the next level. But it wasn't a show stopper for me.
So bottom line is that this was a entertaining collection at a fabulous price (.99 for all four) and I will definitely check out more from Ford.
I read the first book on its own then was given the set to read in exchange for an honest review.
I don't like to give away spoilers so I'll keep it brief and kinda vague so as not to spoilt any surprises.
In the first book, Damian's oracle, we meet Damian, Dusty, Jule and eventually Darian. The first book is about Damian and his mate Sofi who is an oracle. Through Sofi Damian finds his brother Darian who he thought was dead. This is really the start of the war that has been brewing for centuries.
The second book, Damian's assassin, is about Dusty and how he finds his Bianca who is a healer. The huge twist here is that Bianca's brother is the future black God. There are many twists and turns in this book that set us up for the next book.
The third book, Damian's immortal, we find out more about Jule. We discover he is not what he thought. He is sent to Ireland to kill someone but that someone is his mate Yully who is a magician. Together they must banish a creature known as the 'other'. We also meet Xander who is an original like Jule and we discover more about Darian.
The final book is the grey God and this is about Darian. After centuries of being kept hostage and tortured by the old black God, Darian finally discovers his fate is to be a grey God. The one who is the gate keeper for the realms. He was betrayed by his first wife which is how he came to be a hostage to the black God. Now he has found his true power and knows his destiny is to destroy one of the worlds. His mate Jenn is able to control minds and has had a very difficult past especially with trusting others. Eventually they find their way and learn to trust each other and their love and all is mostly right with in the world.
A definite must read for Lizzy Ford fans and anyone into paranormal stories.
War of Gods Box Set features the first four books in this series by Lizzy Ford. I understand there is a spin-off featuring at least Xander, but I'm not sure about the rest of the characters. I had previously read Danian's Oracle and couldn't wait to continue with this series. I wasn't disappointed! The female characters are strong in their own right, and not afraid to stand up to the male in their lives. The men are stubborn and opinionated but tamed (sorted of) by their women. The stories all link up, so I would recommend that you read them as a series, just so that you don't get confused with what is going on, or what has gone on before. The writing is smooth in most places but sometimes felt a bit jerky when it came to the love scenes that weren't written. Instead of fading to black, they abruptly cut to black, and then to the following morning. This wasn't a big issue, it just felt more obvious considering how smooth the rest of the writing was.
I loved Damian's Oracle and The Grey God. Whilst I didn't 'love' the others, I still thoroughly enjoyed them! I have no hesitation in recommending this series for all those who love feisty females and macho males.

Lizzy does it again in this fast-paced, action-packed paranormal romance and guess what? It's an entire series of this intertwined with romance, mystery, suspense, cliffhangers, and so much more fun!! When reading series, I sometimes get a little bored because they can often be so much alike, but Lizzy spins a delightful tale in each of these four books in the box set, Damian's Oracle, Damian's Assassin, Damian's Immortal, and The Grey God. Each book has its very own plot while including a sweet blend of the characters from the other books in the series.
This is paranormal, romance and action at its finest. I don't write spoilers, but Lizzy's characters are always so full of life. I leave the last page of each of her books feeling as though I just lived what the characters did...but, isn't that what a good writer does? Yes. For me, this is important. I want to smell, taste, feel, hear, and see everything an author's characters do and Lizzy's writing always does that for me.
I highly recommend this series and all other Lizzy Ford books.
this is the box set that I am reviewing......Great read, so great that I also bought two other books that go along with this series. Looking forward to reading them as well. I love when an author dedicates the time to expand on characters in their own books. With that said...... Really enjoyed this story, it kept me intrigued, so much so that I believe I started the 4 book set on the 9th of October , and finished it on the 12th!!! Couldn't really put it down, and quite frankly I didn't want to. LOL But there are supposed to be other things in life to do , Right ??? Not when one is reading and is sooo engrossed in the story....... just sayin'..... maybe it's just me , but when I get entrenched in a series, it is hard to find words to describe that story and to give the author due credit to their work. So I'll just say, get the books read the story, and enjoy it !!!! I did.
This is one of my fav series it has so many book boyfriends in it and everyone meets there mates and they all go through south to save and keep them the girls are badass in this series they ended up running the place. The guys change a lot they were all very controlling and end up not as much and I love the fact that they find there brother who they thought was dead and he changes the most he starts out not knowing who he is and turns into one hell of a grey god
This review is only for Grey God. Since this is a box set I left reviews on the other three books.
The one God I didn't think about when the series started ended up being the best one of them all. I loved the development of Darien from book to Book. This one ended with a bang and I was happy with the way this series played out and super sad that it was over.
I've read these books before & knew then that they were wonderful.... But this time around? Oh my! Anyone that knows me, knows it takes a special kind of book for me to read it twice. Loved it again and can't wait for The Black God!
Romances are just not my thing at all, so I'm not going to pee in other people's cornflakes on this one. As a fantasy novel series, it's terrible, but it's not a fantasy novel series. It's paranormal romance. So.
I was so glad to manage getting these books I am even more glad now that I have finished them. Definitely worth every minute spent reading. If you have a passion for paranormal romances this series is a definite YES!!!!!!!!
Books 1 and 4 were definitely the best of the bunch. Still, great series. Reminded me of Elisabeth Naughtons Eternal Guardians series, just a little more edgy.
