This book is a great starter for getting into Indian Cooking. Jaffrey explains the many spices and has chosen fairly simple but delicious meals. I get my spices bulk from Viks grocery on Allston in Berkeley.

Great little cookbook and resource for 22 different spices commonly used in Indian cooking. I have made the Soothing Cauliflower Soup with Coriander, Cumin and Turmeric and the Yogurt Soup with Cumin and both were delicious.
