Those Who Trespass

Rate this book
Seventeen-year-old Jenn Alistor is a murderer.

For months, she and her brother, Jake, have stayed one step ahead of the FBI. Now Jake is missing, maybe even kidnapped, and Jenn's last hope is a risky deal with the feds: if they'll help her find her brother, she'll turn herself in. But their so-called help comes in the form of 21-year-old Clayton Ford—brother of the guy she killed.

Lives aren't the only thing at stake any more. This is Jenn's one shot at forgiveness. But she has to choose.

Time is running out.

Well, after reading that amazing blurb, I knew that I had to get this book. And I was definitely not disappointed; this was definitely one of the best stories I read this month. I will admit that Those Who Trespass is not a book I would normally read; I am rather undernourished in the thriller genre. But this book was so good that I am really starting to regret that!

I L-O-V-E-D Jenn and Clayton. They were such fleshed out characters, which has been something hard to come by in the books I've read lately. Jenn's guilt is so strongly showed but at the same time she's so much more than simply a guilty murderer; it was just...perfect. And Clayton...Melody Valadez did such a good job portraying his emotional turmoil. It was so amazing. Ugh, I can't even describe how great it was.

And the action....oh my gosh, it was the best! I love when a book starts out with some action. It gets me into the story almost instantly. And this book had some GREAT action.

If there was one thing I could say wasn't great with this book, it was the romance between Clayton and Melody. It was sweet and Clayton was basically the most amazing boy ever, but at the same time...Melody murdered his brother. And you are going to go and date this person? I found it unrealistic, but at the same time I liked it. My feelings are very conflicted right now.

So to wrap this review up...well, just go and read the book!

WOW! What a ride!

Publisher's Weekly called this "...an adrenaline rush in book form..." and boy, were they right. THOSE WHO TRESPASS started out with loads of action (but not just for action's sake; we're talking true, authentic action), and never once did it screech to a halt and lose me as a reader. Yes, there were quieter scenes with thought-provoking dialogue, but as soon as I thought the characters were winding down, they were back up and running again. And I just had to keep turning those pages.

I love flawed characters. LOVE them. Which means Jenn Alistor and I really hit it off. She's a murderer, you know that right away, but she's not what you'd expect. She is neither completely cold and unrelatable, nor totally sweet and cheery and unrealistic. She's spot on as a real person. I adored her personality.

Clayton Ford isn't a murderer, but he's not perfect, either. I loved getting to know him and being surprised by the ways he developed through the story. Both characters (well, especially Jenn) did a lot of maturing as a result of their experiences. That's a sign of fantastic storytelling.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book that takes you on a breathtaking journey. Your jaw will drop more than once. You'll gasp at moments you didn't expect. You'll feel everything that Jenn is feeling. And in the end, like me, you'll most likely HAVE to pass this book along to another reader in your life. 5 out of 5 stars.

What a find!!!!! Not sure when I purchased this book, not sure where, not sure how much it cost me, BUT...I really enjoyed the read.
Jennilynn Alister and her brother Jake are on the run from the FBI and from the brother of the COP she shot. Jenn admits she shot Alan (the Cop), but though she’s not telling, there were extenuating circumstances.
Add to the mix the previous murder of Jenn and Jake’s mother, and the passing of their care-giver Alan’s mother, and this is one convoluted situation.
Without giving much more away, just know that a lady named “Heather” befriends Jenn and Jake, but is she really a friend and how does she know their Dad.
Superb read.

OOh I just wrote a whole review and than bam it's gone. I got this book for free on Amazon. The blurb sounded good but I didn't have a lot of high expectations.

This book was: action packed, well written, it has love, and a lot of hate, we have some crime, and a hot police assistant. The book cover doesn't do the book the justice is deserves.

Jenn and Jack have been on the run for the FBI for months now. Jenn is wanted for the murder of Alan a teenage boy. But one day Jack disappears and the only one who is willing to help her is the person who hates her the most Clayton Ford the brother of the boy she shot dead. She makes a deal with the FBI after they help her find her brother Jack who in turn will help them crack a code will she get arrested and sentenced to jail.

What will it take for Jenn to forgive herself? Will Clayton ever forgive her? Nope can't tell you the answers to that you have read the book to find out.

I was lucky enough to have a chance to read an early version of this book, so I wasn't surprised when it was selected as a finalist for the Amazon Break-Out Novel Award. I'm SO glad to see it in print now!

It's an intriguing story with real emotion. My favorite kind of suspense, because it's full of action and never stops moving forward, but does have a thread of romance and the reveal of an emotional backstory too.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, solid contemporary with an unique premise. There's no heart-fluttering insta-love here. There's history between the main characters and genuine intrigue in the events that have brought them together. You won't regret taking the time to delve in - after all, how many teenage murderers do we get to follow around (and learn to love?).

This is the best Christian crime-fic novel I've read yet. Not the most thrilling thriller ever written, but it's a chilling story of guilt and forgiveness. Written in first person from the point of view of a murderer it's a poignant story of love and loyalty that had me riveted from the first page.
