Nobody hides forever.

Ever since Remy O'Malley discovered her dual identity as a Healer and a Protector, she's kept alive by staying one step ahead of both sides in this centuries-old war. Now someone's trying to draw her out of hiding, using her kidnapped father as bait.

To save him, Remy will need every friend she's got. But as new alliances form, old bonds fray. Her boyfriend Asher is losing his powers, becoming more mortal every time she touches him. Meanwhile, Remy finds herself growing closer to Asher's brother Gabe, even as a family tragedy drives her sister Lucy farther away.

On a rescue mission to London, Remy decides she's tired of being the hunted. It's time to end this war once and for all, as Protectors and Healers alike hurtle towards a final, violent confrontation that not everyone will survive.

I. Hated. This. Book. It was awful. I feel like the author created the love triangle for the sole purpose of trying to create drama, especially because this book was full of it. It focused more on the romantic aspect of the story rather than on the rescue. The fact that it was unexpected speaks volumes. How the heck do you just suddenly develop feelings for someone in the last book?? The fact that everyone is shocked by that indicates that there really was no foundation for these feelings. I felt like everything Remy liked about Gabe was similar to Asher. Asher was TORTURED for WEEKS, and when he can't handle things for a while, her feelings change. I get that she waited. But I feel like if the situation was reversed, he wouldn't have given up on her because of her insecurities. Asher even admitted that he was ashamed, and she just let him go. And how the heck do you develop feelings for his freaking brother whom you HATED and always used to tease Asher about??? I feel like she literally forgot all the things Asher ever did for her. She keeps saying how Gabe gets her and is like her and knows everything about her and accepts her the way she is. Guess what??? Asher did too! Don't get pissed at him because he wants to keep you safe. Even Gabe freaked out and yelled at people to help Remy when she nearly died at the end of the novel. And even after alllllll of that, Asher STILL looked after her. He KNOWS how important Remy's family is to her, so even though she doesn't even love him, he said he'd look after them. He tried protecting her, and he protected her sister JUST BECAUSE she asked him to, and then he decided to let her go and still protected her family. When did Gabe ever do something like that???? He looked out for Remy, but he didn't ever go the extra mile to protect her family. Even though it hurt him, Asher stayed and protected who he could. The author made him out to be so freaking weak that it pissed me off. He's not weak. He's the strongest character in the series to go through the crap he went through and still come out fighting. To remain in Remy's presence even when she chose his brother. To be strong enough to let her go even though he obviously still loved her. He was TORTURED. They messed with his MIND. Of course he needs space. Of course he doesn't want that kind of pain. I feel like the author forgot about the promises she made these characters make, and this just didn't fall in line with their characterization. She made it seem like Asher needed his power to be able to fight when even Lucy could learn to fight as completely human. Even Gabe's character was completely changed. What happened to the snarky realist? What happened to the mean, overprotective brother?? You don't just take care of your family for centuries and put them first for so long and then quickly choose a girl over them. Especially when that girl was with your brother!!!!!!!! It bothered me SO FREAKING MUCH how Remy kept saying he was always there for her. She always referenced the time in San Francisco when he comforted her before she even liked him or even tolerated him. OF COURSE HE COMFORTED YOU AND TOOK CARE OF YOU. YOU WERE HIS BROTHER'S GIRLFRIEND, THE PERSON HE LOVED MORE THAN ANYONE, THE PERSON WHO MADE HIM FEEL LIKE LIFE WAS WORTH IT. HE TOLD YOU THAT MUCH BEFORE. That pissed me off immensely. Who else would be there for her?!?! Asher?!?! YOU THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD. HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR YOU, YOU IDIOT?!? I just can't even deal with this. I have never been so angry when reading a book in my entire life. It became an all-consuming hatred. I just think it was pointless and literally everything that happened between Gabe and Remy could have and would have happened between her and Asher. The banter was the same. The love was the same. The whole freaking story was the same. The feelings were the same. The endearment used was the same. The promises were the same. How could you not see how identical it was?! I felt like I was rereading the first book at times, except with a character that did not fit the role. It pissed me off. I cried so many tears over this book. So. Many. Tears. I think maybe I was hurt more than either Remy or Asher because I knew the story of both sides. It disgusted me. Remy and Gabe don't even click because whoever Gabe became in this book was NOT who he was before. He became an older version of Asher. It was so stupid. I just don't understand why. If you're going to start a love triangle, put it in the first book so I never have to read the series in the first place. I am beyond disappointed.

My Thoughts:
I love this book so much! Honestly this has to be one of my favorite book this year. So much of my expectations were meet and more! There was nothing wrong with this book.

The Characters:
All the characters in this book were on point. Throughout the whole series we get to see how Remy becomes the person she is now, a hero. I absolutely love her character. She was always putting the safety of others before her own safety. She truly has made a lot of sacrifices throughout the series. I wasn't even made at Asher . I understood why he made his decision and that he went through a lot of pain to do it. Then there was Gabriela was just kept getting better and better in this book! He was so funny in this book.

The Plot:
There was so many things happening this book. Some were expected and others were not expected. It just kept getting more interesting by the minute. There was a perfect amount of drama in this book. It wasn't over baring or boring. There was never a dull moment in this book.

The Ending:
I usually don't find a perfect ending in most series. It's either too sad and depressing, leaving me with a gaping hole in my heart. Or it's too Happily After like, where it's like who cares if everyone dies and sacrifice themselves, as long as were together then its fine. This book was in the middle. I wasn't left crying all over the place or annoyed. It was unexpected, realistic, and perfect.

Overall Feelings Toward the Book and Trilogy:
Overall I truly loved this series. Each of the books kept getting better and better. Ignited would have to be my favorite book out of the series. I am really sad and happy that I finished this series. I will read anything Corrine Jackson writes. She has a gift. I would recommend this book anyone.

Okay. I was right about the stupid love triangle that developed in book2. I didn't like this book mainly because I really don't like love triangles.

I'm going to start off with something that's been bothering me. Where did that even come from?? It's just a complete 180 from the first book and while it explains Remy's bonding and everything, I just can't even. I mean, it all turned out so sweetly in the end and I loved it but REALLY?? Maybe I'm overreacting but it just seems so drastic and sudden when you look at Remy's feelings in the first book and a half. Like really. Okay. So because of that, this book was going to be a 3 or a 3.5 but because of other things I've decided to give it a 4. Here are those reasons:

1. It answers so many questions about Remy's family and her bonding with Protectors as well as her powers. Those answers were really needed after the mystery in the past two books and it was so nice to get some explanations.

2. The action and plot lines kept me engaged and I couldn't put it down! It really takes you through a roller coaster of emotions!

3. Once again, the ending was really nice and sweet and made me smile. It wrapped everything up nicely as well even if it did come out of left field.

The Final Verdict:
Even with the complete 180 regarding Remy, I did enjoy the ending and finding out all the answers for Remy's family and her powers. It was a very engaging ending to the series!
4 stars

Quotes:
“Chase me, Remy.”

“Gabe's face flashed into my mind, and I knew that Asher and Gabe had both been right about my feelings. Gabe would do anything to save me, even put his life at risk for mine. He would do all that for a girl who'd never kissed him, or been brave enough to take a chance on him. Suddenly, I regretted that immensely.”

“Have you ever heard of such a thing as a phone?" I snapped. "You could have called so we knew you weren't dead."
My anger bounced off him. "I see my diabolical plan has worked," he observed.
"What plan?" I asked with narrow eyes.
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Tone down the outpouring affection, Remington, or I might get the wrong idea and kiss you.”

“It was odd that Gabe had noticed my habit when I hadn't.
"I notice everything about you," he said softly.

Honestly this has been one of my favourite series. I loved all the characters especially Asher. I was really disappointed though when Asher and Remy didnt end up together. And I didnt like how when they grew apart, the author made Asher look like a coward. when he says he doesnt want to be mortal after wanting it for so long and pushing Remy away because of it. I thought at the end of Ignited they would come back together but it didnt happen.
Another thing is I cant believe Laura died! I thought forsure Remy would heal her but she almost died because she tried. And when Remy realized their bond was broken i almost cried. At this point i couldnt even put the book down i had to finish it and find out what happen next.

I absolutely love this book despite my disappointments. i would recommend it to anybody who loves paranormal/fantasy YA books. Its definitely worth a read

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley.)
This is book 3 in the ‘Sense Thieves’ series, and kicks off 4 months after the end of book 2.

This was a good story, and I was glad that we got a happy ending.

I liked Remy and I liked her determination and the love she had for her family, even when things got really bad. She did take some crazy risks at times, but that was just typical Remy really.

I liked the storyline, even if things felt a bit awkward at the beginning, but I did find some things a little crazy! Attending one venue, where the bad guys were bound to be expecting them to turn up, just seemed to be asking for trouble!
We once again had the love triangle, but I actually liked how it ended, and found myself falling more and more in love with a certain someone as the book progressed.
I liked the ending, and I liked that while things were resolved, there was still the chance that we might once again get a peek inside Remy’s world.
Overall; really enjoyable story,
8 out of 10.

Ignited was a good read.

I really liked how Remy and Lucy was so close in the last two books, so it was sad to see them not getting along in the beginning of this one.

I loved how the love triangle ended, she defiantly ended up with the right guy!

The pacing in this one was perfect. There was loads of action, but it wasn't rushed, and i wasn't bored once.

Overall, A great sequel.

It’s been a while since I reviewed Pushed, the last book in this series. So to recap: so far, this series has been okay, but not particularly noteworthy. The world Jackson built was never very interesting to me, and I was beginning to lose interest in the characters as well. The plotting was alright, and Jackson’s prose was pretty good, but I was looking for something more from this series. I was hoping the character arcs would begin to advance more, and that Jackson could flesh out the world to make it more worldbuilding, while writing a satisfying plot to end the series. So does this book live up to any of that? I know that Jackson is a skilled author, from reading If I Lie - can she write another book that interesting?

Short answer: No. Not even close.

This was easily the worst book in the trilogy, and it was a huge chore to get through. I’ve never been a huge fan of this series, but I always thought that Jackson was a talented enough author that maybe the finale could take it in a better direction. As it turns out… nope. I had already known it, but this book definitively proves to me that Jackson is not suited to writing fantasy, and that she needs to write another contemporary book before I ever like one of her books again. But I don’t even need to compare this to If I Lie to explain why this fails, because it fails on its own terms in so many ways. I’ll be honest: as I read this book, I genuinely forgot that I ever liked a book by Jackson. This series was always a big departure for her, but this book has so little to do with what made me think she has potential as an author that I had trouble remembering that Jackson has written anything good before.

Here’s the big, fundamental problem with Jackson as a fantasy writer: she doesn’t know how to infuse story with character development. For all my complaints about this novel, Jackson does lay the foundations for a decent finale in the early pages. She establishes high stakes, she gives the characters an emotional investment in the outcome, and she gives them a clear goal to work towards. For a few chapters, I even felt a sense of tension.

And then, around 40% of the way through the novel, the pacing comes to a sudden halt, and everything Jackson built up is totally destroyed. The problem is that she needs to write character-oriented scenes - mostly, a romance between Remi and Gabe - and she doesn’t know how to incorporate them into the actual story. So she completely destroys the tension by writing a mostly light-hearted romance between Remi and Gabe, in the middle of what’s supposed to be the intense finale. It’s as if Jackson doesn’t know whether she wanted to write something fast-paced and tense, or something slow and introspective, so she awkwardly tries to cram them together, and she fails at both in the process.

I’ll get to why the romance fails later, but for now, let’s talk about the plot. For most of the middle act of the book, things barely progress toward the climax at all - at the 80% mark, we’re at almost the exact same place we were at the 40% mark. The only real events that happen seem to move the plot sideways, rather than forward. Jackson introduces a bunch of new characters that don’t contribute very much to the story (other than serving as plot devices in the climax). The reason these characters are here is to expand the worldbuilding, and wrap up all the mysteries. But even if I cared about the worldbuilding in the first place, this would’ve fallen flat for me, because Jackson makes the world so complicated. There are allusions to tons of characters who we only barely meet and never get to know or care about, and the backstory to all of the characters gets too convoluted to keep track of. And why should I try to keep track? The world is boring - Jackson doesn’t change that as she expands it. The complexity of the mythos reminded me most of the Kiesha’Ra series, but where that world was inventive and immersive, this one is unoriginal and flat. The effect of all this is that when the (admittedly well-written) climax finally arrives, it’s too little too late. It doesn’t feel like it’s answering any buildup, it just feels tacked-on and obligatory. (It doesn’t help that Remi’s grandfather is kind of a boring villain.) On the whole, the plot completely falls flat, and it’s a big part of the reason this book was such a chore to get through.

The romance didn’t help either. I might not have minded the middle act of the book so much if I had any investment in Remi and Gabe’s romance, but I really don’t. We’re told that Remi has some sort of great chemistry with Gabe, but I never really saw it. Quite frankly, as a character, he’s not very different from Asher, Remi’s previous boyfriend - I have no idea why he’s supposed to be so much better for her than he was. There are also plenty of subplots involving other characters, but none of them particularly stood out to me. A lot of the drama felt manufactured - Remi’s subplot with Lucy, for example, hinged largely on a misunderstanding that struck me as very easy to resolve. Remi is still a well-rendered character, and she did get some sort of arc in this book, which is better than what we got in Pushed. But in the end, I never cared about it very much. I mostly just wanted to get through this book, and the characters didn’t stand out enough to change that.

I’ve now read all four books that Jackson has released, and this is easily the worst. I still want to believe that Jackson can write another novel as good as If I Lie if she returns to contemporary. But it’s been more than a year since this book was released, and she hasn’t even announced another novel or even a short story since then. So until then, it looks like I’ll have to go to other authors to satisfy my cravings. It really is a shame that Jackson let me down this much - I never had high expectations for this series, exactly, but I expected better than this.

I'm so annoyed with this book! This was a great series but this ending did not sit well with me. I couldn't believe how the love triangle was handled. I thought it super negate the romance plot from the other two book.

Well I'm frustrated and didn't get the HEA I was hopping for.

Şirindi be.

I have stated on my review of the second book that I'm not fond of the love triangle (or any love triangle for that matter). I cannot just forget about Asher when there's the hot and brooding Gabe. But I think all that just changed.

I still find Remy a very admirable character. She's vulnerable yet strong. Although I can't say I'm a big fan of some of the decisions she made, she still made a kickass heroine.
I believe that this is the last installment in the series and because of that I expected a lot more drama and action. Sad to say, I didn't feel like there was more. It felt dragging and I was bored halfway through the book. It was a good thing the romance more than made up for it.

Speaking of romance. I'm not sure what part of the book I changed my mind on the whole love triangle debacle but I'm so happy the idea of Gabe and Remy being together doesn't suck the life out of me anymore. Seriously, I was hurt for Asher at the beginning. I literally wanted to cry for him. But after everything that happened I can totally see why Remy chose what- or rather who- she did. And why not? They fit perfectly together.

Although I enjoyed the book a lot it felt like it lacked that certain "spark" I feel whenever I read a book hence the three-star rating. Ignited is a perfect end to the series.

I received an earc via Netgalley to read and review.

A great conclusion to the series!

I love the heroine. She's a character that has a great balance of strong and vulnerable. Too often heroines in these types of books are either super emotionally weak or they're unbelievably/perfectly strong. I find myself frustrated because they either collapse in on themselves or they shrug things off way too easily. This heroine is someone I feel for and enjoy reading her story. And though she's in a fantasy world, her struggles feel real and endearing.

I loved the ending. The author spent quite a bit of time winding down the story and it really worked in this series. It gives a great sense of closure without everything being wrapped up in a cute little bow as they all ride off into the sunset. It feels like they've reached a moment of peace and bliss and have been able to assure themselves some peace, but there are still a lot of issues in the air and sadness. I liked it because it gave time to show the characters dealing with the fallout of the climax, rather than just immediately ending the story.

3.5

First of - i really really dislike the cover. Looks kinda cheap, doesn't it?
Like the story inside is some 101 YA-story.

WOOOOAAAHH!!

Definitely not.

Well ok, maybe a bit. But its still AWESOME!

(be warned: I'm still too excited to keep it low... the following will be full of spoilers! *sorry*)

So after reading the second book of the Sense Thieves i was kinda confused... I mean it sucked that Asher was dead for a while... and awesome when he wasn't anymore - but I really liked the scenes with" Remington" and "Gabriela". They were just hilarious.
But you know, Asher was the first one.

So while reading the third book i was open for everything because my mind wasn't made up. Well except the fact that I HATE love triangles. (Authors - tell me, do you feel some wicked pleasure torturing us?!)
But - lets be honest - this wasn't one, was it? I mean sure, Remy, Asher and Gabriel were always kinda involved - but one of them was always "passive".

And HELL, i loved how it turned out (wasn't it one of the cutest, loveliest break ups EVER?)
I really think Remy made the right decision. He fits way better then the other one!

To the plot. I actually expected more. This was supposed to be the final - and for a great final i expect a lot of action, drama and difficulties. Whereas in this book it was kinda easy for Remy to solve all of her problems (more or less...)
I mean sure, there were a lot of deaths (not all necessary in my opinion...) but when it came down...
NOT ENOUGH DRAMA

I don't know what i should think of it.

Guess the characters were good enough ("loved enough by me") to be still pleased with the book overall.

Even though the ending was kinda weak again..

ANYHOW - i really enjoyed reading the Sense Thieves Series.

PS: Back to the covers - why are the german ones waaaaaay better then the originals?! Weren't the german ones published first?

*facepalm* i don't understand this!

Kurz-Meinung:

Meine Wertung:
4 von 5 Sternen

Holy. Freaking. Shit.

I loved this book so so so so so much. It was the most perfect conclusion to the series. A series I started when I was like fourteen maybe? Again, it's such a bittersweet moment to end a series you started that age. To look back and think about how I used to see the characters, the writing, the story. It's all different now.

AND PLEASE. GABE????? FUCK, YEAH.

In the second book, when she started having that bond with Gabe, I honestly cringed. I didn't want to read about another love triangle, least of all with Gabe. I forced myself to stay loyal to Asher, even though I could see how caring and sweet Gabe was. And now I just want to punch myself because of it. I MEAN COME ON. Gabe is the definition of perfection. And I'm so happy how it turned out even if it was a rather slow burn.

I love how the author manages to make one love both brothers and then feel the pain, mourn the loss with Remy. It saddened me a lot to read through Asher's hurt and I wanted to squeeze him. But in the end, he, too, found happiness. (Hopefully.)

LUCY. God, Lucy. She was one of my favourite characters in this series, (besides the ultra handsome Blackwell brothers) but the way she acted when her mother died? Excuse me? I was not happy with that. I couldn't wrap my head around why she acted that way. I mean, I get that she's going through a tough time, but isn't that the time you need someone the most? Preferably your own sister? I felt for Remy and I truly was upset with Lucy and couldn't get myself to get over how she acted, even after she had apologised. And I think I won't see her as the character she is in the first two novels either when rereading them. That Lucy will burn forever with me and I won't be able to let that go. Saddens me, really.

ANYWAYS. GABE. IS. PERFECTION. AND I'M OUT.

BTW, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE DESIGN PRETTIER COVERS FOR THESE AMAZING BOOKS?

NOW I'M OUTTA HERE.

LOVED this book! Where to begin!! This has been an enjoyable series! I really loved this book to no end! I enjoyed everything(mostly). I love Remy, Gabe is incredible, Asher took a weird turn in this book! Lottie and Lucy were pretty good as well. I've been waiting for this book, and it was everything I was hoping for!

Serious spoilers ahead, you have been warned!!

Alright, so loved all of the ups and downs of this book. When Remy tried to heal Laura, and absorbed all the injuries and no one knew, it was amazing. I felt so bad for her when she didn't tell anyone and Lucy was angry and hating her. Plus, Asher was breaking up with her, that was a rough spot for sure!! I didn't get how Asher changed so much in this book, it totally made sense with how much had changed for him, from being kidnapped to being mortal, yet it was surprising. Gabe was awesome in this book, totally loved him. I was a huge fan of his since book 2, Pushed. He was incredible for sure! I loved how good they were together also.

Didn't totally love the whole breakup with Asher, didn't see this one coming at all, big plot twist for me! However, was rooting for Gabe and Remy for sure, just didn't know how that would happen, thought the author did a great job of understanding it all. Asher was a confusing character this book for sure, he wanted Remy yet couldn't figure out how to let her go, it was weird, yet it made sense too.

The whole Phoenix thing was really different, but loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sad to see the series ending, but enjoyed it so much! I loved this series!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC, LOVED it!!!!! Thanks to Corrine Jackson for such an incredible book!

Coming out on my 7th year anniversary with my husband. Awesome! <3

Review:
I was attracted to Corrine Jackson because this author has the same name as me, but our spelling differs. Nevertheless, this series is one of the best series I've ever read apart from the other series which I've read.

I loved Remy from the beginning of the series. Her strength and the determination as well as the pain that she endured ached my heart. No shit. My heart did crinched every time I read about those.

And this last book did not make my heart ease at any point. There was the heart-racing action and damn those tears.

Even though I was an Asher/Remy fan. But Gabe. OH GABE. Why are so sweet and understanding. <3

I LOVE THIS BOOK.
Definitely 5 stars!!!
