Here With Me

Rate this book
The second book in the Paloma's Edge standalone companion novel series.

Hunter Lovell thinks his life is as good as it could possibly be. He and his twin brother Chase are now on speaking terms. He has his dream job as a tattoo artist and he’s attending the same college as Chase and his girlfriend, Beth, who has become his friend. However, Mariska, one of Beth’s best friends hasn’t accepted him into her life and it gets under his skin.

Mariska Landry has been the dutiful daughter for as long as she can remember. She’s only disagreed with her parents on two main things in her life: her friendship with Beth and leaving Franklin Parks to attend college in Miami. Away from home for the first time, she wants to live her life on her own terms. Something about Hunter, the guy she wants to dislike with every fiber of her being, intrigues her, and she does whatever she can do within her emotional arsenal to resist him. But what will she do when fighting her feelings for him is no longer an option?

I was really excited that this book started where the last one left off. I was especially happy that the entire gang was there and I really got more insight into the 1st couple Chase & Beth. But I did very much love Hunter & Mariska. I really enjoyed their story and the drama between those two drove me nuts. I so want to know what's going on with Jake and I hate the outcome of his story at this point but I get it. I really do hope there will be more books to follow about this group of characters. I really hope it stays in its current pattern of having all the characters very much involved in the story beyond the two main characters. My only question that has really bugged me is what's up with Pete. I get the speech impediment but he seems so much more fragile than just that but oh well I'm good. I really felt for Hunter and all that he endured and I love how he and Chase are trying but I think I love best is his relationship with Beth. Again the ending seemed kind of quick so I'm hoping the next book has a similar start to this book. I really am enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book. I really hope there is a next book :)

This story was very emotional. Hunter is a very complex character. He is battling his addiction and trying to make amends to his brother. He has to deal with everyone stereotyping him as an addict. Mariska is one of those people. I think the author did a very good job with her character. Mariska learns a lot about herself on her journey to falling in love with Hunter. She has to learn to not judge him based on what others say. She also has to take some control over her own life and not let her parents rule her every action.
Can be read as a stand alone, however I think the story would flow better if you have read the first one, which I didn’t.

This was just as good as the first book, if not better. I loved both and would definitely like to see more stories for other characters and having these four in them too of course.
