It's the beginning of senior year, and seventeen year old Juliet Somers has made the rash decision to transfer to her boyfriend's school in an effort to spend more time with him. Sexy bad boy Johnny Parker is a legend at Leclare Academy, and Juliet still can't believe that an average girl like her was able to tame his wild ways. She can't wait to start her new school with him by her side.

But one night, Johnny's self-destructive habits lead to a stunning betrayal--and Juliet realizes she's made a huge mistake. Now she's stuck at a school where she doesn't fit in, and all the girls seem to hate her guts. Even worse, Johnny is determined to get her back, pulling crazy stunts to win her forgiveness. Juliet is resigned to being an outcast for the rest of her senior year, with no friends, and no clue what she wants to do with her life.

Things start to look up when she gets to know some of Johnny's friends, and finds that some of them are really good guys. With the help of an unlikely ally at her side, Juliet begins to think her situation is not as bad as it seems. As the school year rolls on, she opens herself up to new experiences, makes some huge mistakes, and discovers things about herself she's not sure she likes.

Juliet resolves to stay strong against Johnny's seductive tactics, but it's becoming increasingly harder to deny she still has feelings for him. Will she risk her heart to him again--or will a hot contender manage to sweep her off her feet?

Protect your pets.

Nichole Christie has only written two books, and that is not nearly enough. I picked up her debut, “Falling for the Ghost of You” last year, and I laughed throughout the whole thing. The MC, Violet, narrated the book, and her inner monologue, while hysterical, could sometimes be surpassed by the things she said out loud. For example, she had this rather nasty habit of blurting out very inappropriate things when she was nervous in social situations (for example, “penis”. Like at dinner, when she meets her new step-brother. Yeah, that kind of funny).

So based on that, I should have known NOT to drink or eat while reading this book. I do not learn. Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Shortly into the book, when the female MC catches her boyfriend cheating on her, and he says he didn’t mean to, she responds with:

“And what? You tripped and fell into her vagina?”

At that particular moment, I was sipping a Pepsi, which I immediately spewed. Unfortunately, our family’s bunny was in the line of spew, and I got her bad. Fortunately, she loves sweet things and happily licked her fur for the next hour. My wife, on the other hand, wanted to know what caused me to do that, and since our teenage son was in the room, there was no way in hell I was repeating the line. She told me I needed more meds. I complied to protect the secret. Needless to say, I slept extremely well that night. Picked up the Kindle first moment I woke up.

Now one awesome thing about this book is that it’s long – almost 10,000 Kindle locations. For $2.99, it’s an incredible bargain. You love the book and it lasts.

Juliet was incredible. Besides being wickedly funny, she was tough. She displayed that toughness several times and it made me want to fist bump (I mean, the book does involve the football team). She thinks very inappropriate thoughts. For example, several times she lets her thoughts stray to being the shower with her (sort of) ex and her (sort of boyfriend). Who are step-brothers. So that would be really, really wrong. She’s a pervert and she admits it to herself. Don’t worry, it doesn’t go beyond fantasies – this is not a paranormal werewolf ménage book.

She has problems. Her best friend is a lesbian (which is only a problem because she wants her to fix her up with a girl who (a) Juliet hates and (b) is probably straight. This worries her). That fact that she’s apparently an alcoholic worries her even more. Her mother works all the time, so when she’s actually home, she’s either too tired to talk or she’s asleep. Her father has taken up with a much younger woman, and she can hear them getting it on whenever she stays over…which is so not cool.

Best friend Heather is a riot also. She’s always offering to beat up Juliet’s enemies or perhaps have her uncle do something more…permanent (I love that in a best friend). Johnny is a schmuck. He loves Juliet, he cheats on her, he’s incredibly self-destructive. But he’s likeable, because no matter what, he will still protect Julie. You kind of forgive him for that cheating part (so does Juliet). Dean is both mysterious and looks like a super model. Every girl in school wants him. They don’t get him. Juliet does.

There is one character in the book who is so wicked, so depraved, so evil – her picture should be beside the definition of “Mean Girl”. Personally, I would have murdered her. Fortunately, I was not in the book and she is a fictional character. Juliet handles her just fine. I still think she should have taken Heather up on her offer.

I regret that this book is finished. I pray that the author is slaving away, writing her next one (she’s allowed to get nutrition…and bathroom breaks. Nothing else). Get this book as fast as possible. Then grab “Falling for the Ghost of You”. You will be so happy you did. Just remember the no eating or drinking rule. For the sake of the bunnies, of course.

For the love of Pete!
Cheating ass of a boyfriend, stupid protagonist, torn between two lovers? Oh common! I had to endure 400+ pages of this? I regret everything!

This book reminds me of a teenage girls life...in REAL life. Yes, some of the situations in the story were out there, but her thought process and reactions were the same as I had at that age and even still today!
1. Girl does something knowing it is bad for her
2. Cheating is bad - just break up with the person
3. When a boy breaks your heart - listening to depressing music is a go to thing to do
4. Alcohol helps us do bad things - but we made the choice
5. Figure out feelings before you act
Those were things I really appreciated about this book! There were no triangles, there was no wishy washy girl saying "I want this, but I love him, but he makes my vagina yearn for him, but he has the special touch that makes me feel loved so I should sleep with his friend!" I absolutely hate stories like that!

Juliet: she drove me crazy at the beginning (especially when being in a relationship where you piss each other off is the thing you're trying to make work again). She had redeeming moments thereafter and I like how she pursues her relationships. I didn't get the whole mom disappearing 24/7 trick, or that a mother can have such mood swings but I can see how a mother not being around can influence a teenagers thinking!

Johnny: Yes, super gorgeous ex-man whore. I can't say much for him; he is ridiculously possessive, does things that he knows Juliet hates, and doesn't know what NO means! Not to mention that it's completely okay for him to screw up but not her!

Dean: Oh God Yes!!! Tall, silent, motorcycle, savior - all words synonymous with Dean! I won't say more as it would ruin everything!

I highly recommend this read to females that are sick of all the triangles/squares, cheater forgivers, and girls that can never make up their mind until they've tried every flavor in the darn ice cream store!

!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

I knew Nicole Christie was an amazing author when i read Falling for the ghost of you, and i didn't know she would be even as twice as amazing until i read this book. it has so much potential, hilarious, and hooooot. i've read many books about highschoolers like this but this one has the most realistic moments you probably had as a teenager.

I love Dean. like looooove dean. who wouldn't? he's what every girl dreams of. I love Johnny, in a weirdest way possible because i hated the possessive guy before, but Johnny made me think that possessive guy is hot. i know it's stupid but okay just deal with it.

and I love Juliet!!! she's funny and her personality is amazing. if i were her i probably would kill myself. you get cheated on, then the overly-violent bitch and her groupie hate you (even nearly killed you), lose the v card to your ex-boyfriend's bestfriend, then get 'someone better' and that 'someone better' IS YOUR EX-BOYFRIEND'S STEPBROTHER, get hated by your own bestfriend because you were trying to save her from using drugs(which is so fucking weird), your mother is barely there for you, then that someone better pretends to hate you and talks really shitty to you because he's blackmailed by the overly-violent bitch.

once again Juliet is truly amazing. she doesn't even think to kill herself. I love you Juliet, really. if only fictional characters were real, sigh.

Nicole Christie, im so so so so looking forward for your next book and your other amazing characters. please don't ever stop writing

and now how could i ever get over this book? so frustrating

favourite lines:

When I stare at him in disbelief, he snorts. “Because Dean allows just anyone in his Pontiac, starts texting when he’s publically announced how much he hates it—and eats lunch in the cafeteria for the first time in the two years since I’ve known him. And he even smiles occasionally—I wasn’t even sure dude had teeth until you showed up.”

(I love love love love how even a person like Ben notices the difference when Dean slowly starts to fall in love)

“I knew the moment I accepted your challenge.” When I give him a bewildered look, he grins and holds me tight. “I let myself fall.”

(this line gave me a heart attack. he remembers it when she challenged him to be a clumsy idiot and let himself fall!!!!!! OH GOD)

“I love you,” he says simply.
My breath hitches. “I love you.” Then I laugh, because it’s so easy to say.

(conclusion: it's really easy to say 'I love you' to someone you truly truly love)

and last not not least;

A soft sigh escapes me as I tilt my head back to stare at the unusually cloudy night sky. “How many times do you get cut by the same thing before you decide it’s time to throw it away?” I wonder.
Dean’s response is maddeningly practical: “When you start to bleed.”

(thats so fucking deep)

Oh, Dean... oh, Dean Youngblood...

I can't even gather cohesive thoughts afterwards... I. Just. Can't! Now this is the kind of stories I crave for! The whole angst-ridden-complicated-love-triangle shit that some people despise, whereas I thrive in it!

Oh, man. All the characters are memorable and awesome to get to know! Seriously... I loved Nick, Ben & Mack! Oh my god. Probably because remind me of my close guy friends Logan, Keagan & Mason (in that order).
But I just fucking loathed Kara. That bitch deserves to fucking die. But I guess, without her then the story won't be as interesting.

Juliet is awesome. She's a fighter and definitely relatable. I love how she actually think things through and not just give into impulses right away... She does at some parts, but you can't really blame her.

Johnny. Oh boy. Where do I start? I actually like him, I get his destructive ways. I also thought his attempts at getting Juliet back was cute as hell but I never once thought that they would actually get back together... A hook up maybe... But mostly I always knew they would just stay friends. I also have no doubts that he will fight for his Teeny, because I believe that he really does love her. Maybe not the most healthy kind of love - borderline obsessive, but I think that it's still real. His relationship with Juliet really is destructive and they're both too much alike to be good for each other. She likes riling him up, and so does he... That does not equal a healthy relationship. But still... *sigh*

Dean. Dear God, Dean Youngblood! Can I just say that I have found another member of my harem of book boyfriends? Yeah... Dean is definitely on that list. Unapproachable? Check. Tall, Dark & Handsome? Check. Intimidating? Check. Un-fucking-believably GORGEOUS? A million times CHECK. (Beautiful enough to make grown ass women wet their panties). He's that silent brooding type that just makes me wanna.... ugh! The entire time I was rooting for him. I knew there was more to that pretty face once Juliet came in his life. But man! I cannot stop gushing over how fucking amazing he was..

Honestly, I never wanted it to end! I was looking at the pages I had left and it made me tear up when I only had 5 pages left. Which just made me want more!!! So definitely a new fave. Aaand no doubt a re-read. I just can't believe I didn't start this as soon as I got the book! Silly ol me.

Okay Another Author that is right up there with Tijan and her knack for making you stress/freak out while you are reading her book. That you don't even notice how long the book is cause when you get to the stressful/good parts it's like the book is almost finished.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat the whole team I was reading it, I was like WHATTT... NOOOOO... WTH!!! ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!
But in the end it was worth it!!

All I can say is TEAM DEAN!!! YEAH!!! lol

What a wonderful book! A crazy story with a whirlwind romance in a crazy way. I fell in love with, Juliet, Johnny and Deans triangle. It makes you wonder how far will one go for the one you love?

I recommend this book to anyone who loves drama and romance!

SMH. High school drama, teen angst love-triangle, drugs and alcohol, cheating, scandal, psycho bitches and mysteriously absent parents so teens can run wild. I LOVED this. I am ashamed. Also the narration from a first person POV was hugely successful for me. I'm shocked. But this girl was hilarious and I kind of want to go back to high school so I can be friends with her.

When it comes right down to it, this book is aptly named. Slow Burn. It was indeed slow. A lot has happened and not all were relevant to the story. And if I have the control over things I would have probably toned it down. I’ll ask to edit some of the scenes, concise some of ‘em and put more development between the two main leads. But I don’t call the shots here. I’m just your average reader and all I’m capable of is sharing my opinion.

Usually I summarized the story but I think the synopsis did a pretty good job of giving you the gist of what’s the book is all about. Basically, if you are familiar with Hana Yori Dango by Yoko Kamio, Slow Burn is kind of like the western equivalent of it. But instead of being forced to attend an elite school so that Tsukushi can catch her rich husband-to-be, Juliet Somers transfers school to be with her boyfriend, Johnny Parker. But her boyfriend wasn’t labeled ‘bad boy’ for nothing, when she attends a party she saw that he was cheating on her. Now she’s in this school without a boyfriend who’s the primary reason she was there in the first place and the worst part—she’s the main target of mean girls wrath that are envious of her relationship with her ex-boyfriend and his friends. Yep, it’s not going to be a merry land out there for Juliet.

Johnny is not the only boy in Juliet’s life. A rundown: we have Johnny, the ex, and then we have Johnny’s step-brother Dean. We also have Nick the ex’s best friend. And also Rob, Juliet’s best friend’s brother. You got four of them. Perhaps I shouldn’t include Rob but he’s kinda looked like he’s interested too. And Nick? He’s special to her too. But even with only two guys, it was still plenty of drama and I’m still was running in circles because I’m more than 200 pages in and it was still not clear who she’ll end up with. I mean the anticipation can only do much and because it was unnecessarily prolonged I ended up frustrated instead.

And Ben, he’s just awesome and I just wanted that fact out there.

(There might be spoilers after this so read with caution. You have been warned.)

Between Johnny, Dean and Nick. She’s still not sure about Johnny but at least she knows they are a ticking bomb together. While she and Dean have history together and from the very beginning I was gravitating towards their relationship. What can I say, they are cute together. But I would have like if it was developed more instead of using their history as a springboard to lift their relationship to another level. Then there’s Nick, there’s like unknown chemistry between them (or maybe that’s just me) and then that thing happened between them that for me sort of ruined their dynamic. So yes, you can’t blame me if I’m little confused with the love drama here. It was so, so complicated.

Another complication is the mean girl, Kara. The girl is royally pissed because Juliet is stealing her thunder. So she weaved intricate plan to make her school life suffer and dragged her love life in the process. She’s one heck of b*tch if you asked me.

There’s so many things happened in here and there are so many characters that by the time the book was ending I was having a hard time remembering them. Almost all of them have back story that dragged down the pacing of the story. And frankly, it suffers big time. So I stand by my words that I would’ve omitted some, might add some and developed some more. But that said, I liked the story, I’m just wasn’t a big fan of how the story flowed. Overall it was entertaining and most importantly my ship has sailed. ;)

3.5/5

This book tells the story of a girl named Juliet who's in a dysfunctional relationship with his boyfriend, Johnny. Johnny is possessive and protective of her (in a very unhealthy way) and they fought a lot. But still, they stuck together because they just.. fit. And then he cheated on her. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It has some good points and bad points.

What I liked about the book is that there was no romanticization of the main characters' dysfunctional, semi-abusive relationship at all. Juliet was fully aware of the fact that her ex was a jerk and she swore him off. There's this one time where she wanted to get back with him but I'm blaming it all on her confusion and mixed feelings.

Also, I like most of the background / supporting characters. They're fun to read about!

What I hated about this book is it's draggy-ness. It fucking dragged and dragged and there were a lot of unncessary dramas that would be better off. It annoyed me so much.

The writing of this book also seems too messy for me -- it is all over the place at some scenes and I got really confused.

Overall it's a solid 2.

3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Stars! Enemies to lover, high school romance with a love triangle thrown in the mix. This was an OK read. It was too long and they took forever to develop a relationship. She made some really stupid mistakes that was a little jarring that I couldn’t forget. I really liked the 2 guys, Dean and Johnny, she was meh for me.

I loved this authors previous novel 'Falling for the Ghost of You'. Whilst that book was laugh out loud funny, this is a different type of book but it was still full of witty dialogue.

I would say this is a YA story as it's mainly set at School and the characters are all 17. The sex scenes are mainly glossed over but I was OK with that as I don't think this book needed them. This book is more than just a romance. The author surprised me at certain times with the plot, there are some things that you don't see coming. She throws in things that you weren't expecting that makes it far from a predictable storyline.

Juliet had changed schools to be with her boyfriend Johnny yet straightaway he lets her down but she has to carry on at the new school where the girls are all mainly 'mean girls' but Johnny's male friends rally around her offering their friendship. The characters are well written. Johnny tries to win Juliet back. I couldn't help but feel sorry for him that he had messed up so bad.

Johnny has a step brother Dean who Juliet knows from her past but they don't exactly get on but Johnny asks Dean to look out for Juliet so they start to develop a rather odd sort of friendship. Dean is the silent type but I liked him. He reminded me of a character from an american tv show I used to watch. What I love about this author is her obvious love of the 80's. She references music and films which make me smile. There was a funny reference to Officer and a Gentleman that made me chuckle!

Both Johnny and Dean are described as very handsome but I was a little put off at the description of Juliet..she looks like a doll with blonde hair down to her bum but she apparently has a big head and people call her lollipop head and most people think she is aged about 12!

I really enjoyed this story and it has a HEA but it still felt incomplete hence deducting a star. I have looked to see if I can find anything out about a second book but there is no info however, I hope the author has plans to tie up the loose ends.

If you enjoyed this book and haven't read Falling for the Ghost of You then give that one a go as well. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

Good girl meets bad boy, bad boy screws up, good girl leaves him, bad boy wins her back. Right? Right!.

This book was nothing like I'd thought it'd be. I came across this book several times and dismissed it every. single. time. Honestly, the only reason I read it was because it was free on Amazon through Kindle Unlimited; I downloaded it and forgot all about it, so when I started reading it I had no idea what it was about - which I'm sure helped a lot.

But anywho. Juliet is the all-american girl next door and Johnny is the all-star quarterback (or something else really important in football) and quintessential bad boy. Juliet and Johnny are "in love" and want to spend all their time together so they both decide that it would be best if Juliet transfers to Johnny's elite prep school for their senior year.

One discovery leads to another at a party, two days before the beginning of the school year, that leaves Juliet devastated and wondering how she'll get through the school year.

Juliet was so flawed. She wasn't flawed in the TSTL sense; she was flawed in the human, sometimes I forget to think before I act sense. And I loved her for it!! Even when she did things that made me cringe and vehemently yell "no no no!", I couldn't fault her because she owned all her actions.

The characters were very flushed out and the main character, Juliet, was HILARIOUS. This was a very fun ride that I'm grateful for having been a part of.

The book put me in the mind of Lovely Vicious, but with a little more weight.

OMG!!!!!!! Why did I only read this book now??!! BEST. BOOK. EVER.

All that drama! All the angst! All that romance! I just couldn't put this book down, was totally glued to it.

Even though I loved Juliet (her humour was the best!), there were times i just wanted to yell at her......I get it, you're confused! Make up your mind! Move on! :) I hated Johnny, I wanted to punch him in the face but then I felt sad for him. All these emotions were messing with my head and I liked it! Dean was mysterious and broody and just swoon-worthy.......*sigh*

2.5 Stars: It is probably my fault that I didn't like this book. I don't read spoilers of any kind before I read a book. I just enjoy them more that way. So having said that I did not realize that this book was, in a way, a love triangle. The characters were really, I mean really young. Sure they were college bound, but emotionally-NO. It is just my way to fall in love with the first guy in the book. Well, I didn't and I think my problem was that I was confused as to where this story was taking me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good love triangle but this one was confusing and didn't work for me. The silly things the heroine did just made my eyes roll on a continuous roll and I honestly just wanted to stop reading. BUT, I did finish and I have to say that the author did a good job of giving everyone their HEA and I was happy with that! I will read more by this author because I loved Celebrity Crush so much. This one was just not for me.

I read "Slow Burn" a while back, like three years ago, and let me tell you, it's one of those stories that stick with you.
Yes it's YA and yes the story is classic teen angst, except it's so much more than that.
The characters make mistakes and are true to their immature images.
The heroine is immature, and the situations she gets into aren't always the best, but there is growth and she tries to do her best.
There is a love triangle, although quite honestly it's flimsy considering I always knew who she would end up with, yet it did remind me of my own teen years.
The hero is just...omg scrumptious.
And the slow burn, hate to love is just PHENOMENAL.
If you want to laugh out loud and fall in love this is the book for you.
It astounds me that Nicole Christie has only written so few books. Like come on!!! I need the next one. What are you doing???

There is a bit of over the top drama that happens, but whatever. It's fiction. Just deal with it.

I'm sorry, I've never given a book a one star before, but this book barely deserved that lone star. I'm upset because this is the worst use of £1.79 I've ever made in my life, there are many other things I could've done with that money. So shallow, a reminder of why I pretty much try to avoid the YA genre - because if someone isn't terminally ill or going through something equally as serious, 95% of the time, the story will suck and it will leave no other impression on you other than how much it sucked. So disappointed because I LOVED Falling For The Ghost of You by Nicole Christie, I really thought this writer had a ton of potential but I'm not so sure. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone. So disappointed, I couldn't even finish this, a truly unenjoyable experience.

This was an good, addictive read. Definitely as advertised - a mature YA book with some steam. I really liked the strong heroine and I adored the strong and quiet hero even more. I'm not a fan of love triangles but it was nicely done in this book. This is my second book from this author and I really like her writing style - will definitely read her books again.

Ok i was a bit dubious after reading a poor review on this book but after reading 'Falling for the ghost of you' by the same author, which i really loved, i'm so pleased i took a chance with it. I really loved this book and didn't want it to end!!

You're thrown straight away into Juliet's relationship with Johnny which is really intense and hot, but then his insecurities get in the way and he goes and betrays her as a result. It's at this point that the book starts to get really good and the characters come into their own and the writing becomes more mature.

I just loved Juliet's character, she's passionate and funny and her inner dialogue is brilliant. She's strong and caring, and you can really relate to her and the feelings, hurt and confusion she goes through.

I really warmed up to Johnny also despite what he did, and whilst you could see how destructive their relationship could be, you can tell he genuinely cares about her and I ended up almost rooting for him to win her back. Almost!

There's a slow build up with another character which over the course of the book becomes really important for Juliet but I'm not saying who or spoiling anything. Lets just say this development keeps you wondering what and when things will finally take off between them and what's going to happen as a result.

Theres lots of secondary characters but Ben and heather are my favourites, they're both so cool and they really cracked me up at times with their banter.

If you're looking for a funny yet good read, take a chance on this, you won't regret it!

A MUST READ

I read the authors other book Falling For The Ghost Of You. I loved that, so was keen to read more of her work
Juliet Somers has transferred to Leclare Acadamy to be near her boyfriend Johnny Parker, all round bad boy and star of the football team. Juliet can hardly believe that an ordinary girl like her has caught his attention. But then Johnny lives up to his reputation and betrays Juliet. So for her that's it they're finished. But Johnny has other ideas and is determined to win Juliet back. His crazy stunts are at times funny, but sometimes just embarrassing.

She hates being at the new school, she's broken up with Johnny and the other girls, mostly the cheerleading squad try to make her life miserable. She does make friends with some of the other guys on the football team, mostly through her cooking skills!

Juliet at times is in a bit of a turmoil she can't forgive Johnny. But she still has feelings for him. But she does have another friend who is very supportive.

I liked this story, there's never a dull moment. There are a whole host of side characters who all have their own part to play they are very well fleshed out.
Juliet is a likeable character, though at times she did grate on me a little bit. As for Johnny I had a love/hate ting for him. He was his own worst enemy.
This is a fast moving and emotional read with a bit of angst and drama thrown in as well. There's a whole lot more to this story than I expected when I started it.

I always feel faintly ashamed when I love a book like this - filled with teen angst, over the top drama, cheating, love triangle between stepbrothers, absent/neglectful parents, teen drinking & sex. But love it I did. Mainly because it was hilarious, and I loved the characters. Juliet is awesome. She is so fiesty and funny & direct and even though she makes mistakes she doesn't hide from them. And Dean is very swoon worthy (although we don't really get to see that side of him til later in the book). Johnny is so cocky and so self destructive. I like how Juliet acknowledges that their relationship is bad and struggles between what she knows is best for both of them and her feelings. And I love all of Johnny's friends. Especially Ben for some reason - he is so funny. They are all so funny. I love all of Juliet's inner musings, especially her violent impulses which of course she doesn't act on (well ok sometimes she does but the person always totally deserves it - cherry soda dumped on the bitchy girl who pulls up her skirt, a punch to cheating boyfriend's junk as she catches him with another girl, and punching you know who in the face for you know what). I recommend it for fans of Tijan's Fallen Crest series as it has a similar feel but it is funnier.

So where do I start? While writing this review, I am laughing my A off and not in a good way. This book is a mess from the very beginning. I avoid books with love triangle because they stress the F out of me but I decided to give this book a chance since the blurb seems intriguing. Oh well, I regret it. I just couldn't fathom how I was able to finish this book.

At first, I was rooting for Johnny because I have a soft spot for alpha type of guys and his efforts to win Juliet back were oh so sweet. And then Dean came along and I started to reconsider. Just when I started warming up to the book, crap happened. Like serious crap. The thing with Nick... oh my goodness. I wanted to DNF right then and there but I wanted to know how it will turn out in the end. But then I reached the end and the characters seem to avoid that event like the plague. I guess not all secrets get revealed.

Seriously, Slow Burn is a mess, 20% good and 80% bad. Juliet and a lot of the characters acted impulsively almost all the time (not to mention under the influence of alcohol!). Towards the end, I was skipping a lot of pages because I just couldn't take it anymore. Sorry, Nicole Christie, this book is not just for me.
