Melody, a plus-size lawyer, has just been dumped by her fiance. To make matters worse, he did it via text messaging.
Deciding to drown her sorrows at a local pub, Melody is intent on forgetting about men altogether. Instead, she's going to focus on her budding career, and if she's lucky, she might just make partner at her firm.
It isn't long before her plans are completely derailed by an irresistibly sexy stranger who guides her to a dark corner of the bar, clearly intent on seducing her. And this gorgeous alpha male is no stranger to Melody, or to millions of women all over the world, for that matter. It's Logan MacKenzie, lead guitarist and singer of Scottish rock band, "Revival" and he's accustomed to getting anything he wants. Anything at all.
But what starts out as a wildly passionate night of skilled hands and tender kisses turns into a far more complicated relationship when the curvy lawyer discovers that the chiseled rocker is her next client and if she doesn't win the case he'll lose everything he's worked so hard for.
And there's even more trouble on the horizon when Melody's boss discovers her new relationship and threatens to destroy her career if she doesn't give him the one thing he's always wanted - her in his bed.
Warning: This is an erotic romance story with plenty of sweet seduction, scorching hot intimacy, aggressive sex and deliciously steamy nights. Adults only, please.
3.5 Short, sex, and sweet. The Villain would probably high-five Harvey Weinstein. It's crazy that this book was written years ago and still relevant to how women are sexually harassed in their workplace.
It ended too quick, but I'm jumping to the next book.
I love this book. I really like Melody and can't believe how crappy her finance is, breaking up with her like that, how lame and then calling and asking her how she is, really? I liked how free she was with Logan, having the liquid courage helped with this but the sex between them was hot. The vibe I got when she went to her office the next day and told her paralegal about Patrick breaking up with her was strange, is Melissa sleeping with Patrick? Her boss Ryan starts off being creepy, then he is mean, and finally nasty, horrible, and dangerous. I loved the surprise that Logan pulls on Melody but it complicates things. It is interesting that there is a side story besides him and Melody or Ryan going after Melody. My heart was breaking when Ryan showed up at Melody's apartment forcing himself on her and doing this mainly so when Logan arrived he would see it and jump to conclusions and think Melody does not care for him, and sure enough that is exactly what happens. It ends with Logan turning around and leaving without even trying to find out what was happening, Melody heartbroken, and Ryan being his cocky self. I do not like the direction this story is going in, can't wait until I read the next book.
Not impressed at all. The only likeable character, and even that is kind of iffy, is Logan. Without spending quality time together, not involving sex, they fall in love? Yeah, okay. That's called lust, not love. I'm hesitant to continue the series but I will with the hopes it does get better.
