Millionaire

By Dayal Madan

Review By Ila Garg

Millionaire, a beautiful novel by the debutant Dayal Madan is published by Rhythm Books Publication. It’s a self-publishing firm largely and Dayal Madan happens to be the co-founder. I also browsed through the official book trailer on youtube which was made with a lot of creativity. This is the first book by this publication house and the way it is presented to the readers is noticeable. Both the publication house and the book, Millionaire, seem to be promising!

The blurb reads as “Billions of people, with zillions of dreams. Dreams that say I want to be rich, I want to see my favorite car in the garage of my beach-house, I want to have everything I want. It’s true that money can’t buy happiness, ‘cause it is happiness. But do dreams really turn into reality? Can an ordinary life be deciphered to extra-ordinary?Bank balance of hundreds of millions, colossal apartment, resplendent black car, and retirement in the early twenties; he had everything. But it all appeared void to him. He was incomplete without his first and very last vish. The happiness couldn't buy him his vish. Can love be ever so strong that it can overshadow all the luxuries? Is the love he lost ever coming back? What about the promises he made? When he had nothing, he wanted everything. When he had everything, he felt nothing. He was Dev Arora, a multi-millionaire.”

The title Millionaire indicates the book must be about monetary aspects, a corporate world, precisely all about money. But the cover of the book gives a slightly clearer picture. It shows three distorted hearts with Euros, Pounds, Dollars, Rupees, & LOVE.

The story is written in romance genre. I was amazed while reading it as I thought a guy will never be able to pen down the depth of emotions with such a seamless effort, but Dayal Madan proved me wrong. He did a wonderful job with emotions in his book,Milionaire.

Initial story was more or less repetitive and thus predictable. The story revolves around the central character Dev Arora, who has some ambitions and aspirations pre-set for him. He then fell in love with Visha Kapoor, the girl who changed his life completely and then suddenly vanished completely from his life. He was all aloof and then time made him realise his aim to be a millionaire.

But gradually the story started taking twists and turns.

The story in a nutshell, is about sufferings, hurt, undying love, achieving success, be a millionaire, commitment, and many more such themes. The madness of Dev in his love story is a main crux of the book.

The 3-4 poems in the book are well-written and add to the beauty of emotions. The author has good narrative skills. The 203 page book takes you along with it and makes you realise that every love story is not an easy affair. The story is meaningful and the main reason that I loved this book is the dedication of Dev towards Visha. The story had a filmi touch, I almost felt as if I am watching a Hindi flick.

Dayal Madan managed to keep the reader’s interest maintained throughout! The pace of the story is smooth too. The language is easy to comprehend and there would be no difficulty in understanding the plot of the novel. It is an inspirational tale of love adding to its USP.

The too many turmoil of Dev’s love life is just one of the reasons you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens in Millionaire. To find out whether he survives the absence of Visha in his life, will he be lucky in love, who is Naina, will Naina be able to replace Visha in Dev’s life, happiness in just money or love is essential too; you will have to read the novel, Millionaire.

For a debut writer, Dayal Madan has given a good start to his career. The story line and absence of Visha without any concrete reason kept me glued till the end. Some of the dialogues in the book were actually so touching and close to my heart that I eventually ended up taking snapshots and whatsapping them to a friend of mine. Kudos to the writer for writing such an emotional tale… I recommend this book to all the love birds.

AN INTERESTING STORY ABOUT PASSION TO ACHIEVE DREAMS, EXPECTATION, LOVE, SACRIFICE AND ABOVE ALL COMMITMENT TOWARDS ONES LOVE… "

This is the novel by Dayal Madan … The is a story of Dev Arora, who has some ambitions and aspirations preset for him, But then mid way of achieving his dreams he fall in love with Visha Kapoor the girl who changed his life completely and then suddenly disappearance leaves him completely neglected. These turn and changes in Dev’s life firstly twirl him aloof from everything and then with self realisation make him millionaire in short span of time. The menacing accident leaves a great impact on Dev life when he become naive about his love life for some time and then one fine day suddenly recalls everything and boost up his life from ashes. The story is about hurt, Love, achieving success, however we can achieve success and money with hard work but not love, commitment and championship that all comes only when you have your beloved by your side in all thick and thin of relationships.

The madness of Dec in his love story is a main emphasize of the book. Poems depicting Dev’s love has been written and expressed marvellously. Narration of the story is something which makes you feel reflective many times. The commitment of Dev towards his love is a thing to watch out for in the book.

The story is real good example of inspiration to learn and implement, how to achieve success make dreams come true. Dreams of love, career, success and happiness in life.
Now my Positive viewpoints:

The concept and climax is good, on each and every page it will teach you a lesson. The struggle and achievement of Dev specially in the today’s era where most of the youngsters not much focused is something very inspiring in the current socio-eco-political era have been narrated well. Indeed the story will shake up your emotions to understand the story of Dev.

Some suggestive points:

Overall the book is really good and very well expressed; I would like to suggest that a little stringent editing was required as there are some typing errors in the book. The only drawback of the book is the narration of the story has taken place in a management college where ‘Dev’ came to deliver a lecture and share his success story, where as he has also shared his love story and even the some of the delicate moments as well, this is something hard to believe. Also mention of Dev’s professional life takes long time to come in front of the readers. The first half is no different from many other love stories in present times.
Final words:
Overall if asked I would say...this is a good job done by Author… (Dayal Madan) I would give 3 stars to this book.

I believe that if you have dream, keep the spirit to achieve it too.. Millionaire by Dayal Madan is an example of such thoughts. Millionaire, after reading this title I thought it to be the story of some corporate or money story but proving me wrong this story of a guy Dev Arora, a young multi-millionaire sharing his experience specially love life. Love story. The cover of the book is also confusing as cover and title will never let you predict the story within. The book is from Rhythm Publications and this is their first book in print. All the best to them for their coming future!!

Dev Arora, the protagonist gets invited in a college for a Valentine’s Day Function and narrates his love life story to all. The love of his life VISH (Visha Kapoor). How she changed his life completely and her sudden disappearance leaves him clueless about his love life. How Dev faced the failure in his love life and then how he suddenly gathers his wits back and rise from the ashes. It’s about how he stands on his own feet’s even after facing a sudden disaster in his relationship. It’s a story of Dev love, his hope, his willpower. His struggle to get out of the heart break.

I loved the poems in the book as they are expressed beautifully.

According to me editing could have been better as this was something purely visible (usually I ignore editing part but in this it was unavoidable). I found it bit unrealistic as he had completed his engineering and now is a millionaire and that too self-made at the age of 23? The story was having no new concept but still has its own spark which will keep you connected.

But as a debutant, author has justified his efforts and I appreciate his attempt and wish him luck for his future endeavors. I will recommend this.

Foreword:

Those were the days when our mailbox was flooding with book reviews and one such mail was really distinct from others. It read,

Hi,
I've set up a self publishing company, and my first book is going to be launched on 7th September. I would like to request a book review of my book for your blog. Please let me know the procedure.

The very aspect of self-publishing was pretty new for us. I rarely came across self-published books. Yeah, we reviewed quite a few books from Frog Books, which is a independent publishing book company, but that is a whole different matter. The frog books is maintained and funded by Leadstart Publishing house, a leading publishers in the market. But the story of this book is completely different. There are no maintenance of leading publishing house in the case of this book. I wholeheartedly wish the author, Dayal Madan and the co-owner of the publishing house, Rhythm Books, a very bright future. It is whole lot of hard-work to self-publish one's own book. There were many questions that popped up in my mind and there were many e-mails exchanged between me and the author. Not to forget, he answered each of my question pretty patiently

Thank you and all the best for your venture and the book, Dayal...

Plot (from the jacket):

Sometimes a book's title can make your mind work in too many directions. This is one book whose title can do the same to you as a reader.

A person who goes millionaire in his professional life and once a millionaire in love becomes pauper when his love disappears suddenly from his life.

It's nostalgic and strong on some craziness in love.

The love story lacks the freshness which was required in the book. The professional life too pops up very late in the book.

But it's a journey from the scratch to the top and a dream run for a person. You just should know how to live your dreams.

Editing could have been better.

An inspiring tell tale of love and ambitions.

A very relatable love story. The author has done a good job in keeping it simple and precise. College romance is undoubtedly one of the most read genres in India at present when it comes to the young generation, and in this, Dayal Madan has added a great book to the collection!
