I can't figure out the audience for this. The art is mostly colorless, and mostly lifeless too. Not compelling, but there aren't very many outer space books appropriate for preschool or younger kids, so it may find readers because of that.

I really, really liked the imaginative and creative rhyming duo of 'data' and 'crater' in this one...

A spaceman, robot and monkey are in a secret moon base and set off on a secret mission to complete a task of epic proportions but why is the monkey shooting bananas at a deep dark crater? Aliens of course!

The book starts out very simple with very few words and then it continues to grow with each page turned. The colors begin to change as well. It starts out with very few dark colors and then some yellow is added with bananas and then it changes again when they travel into space. This story also can inspire children's imagination with space adventures and aliens.

I received this advanced copy from Random House Books for Young Readers through Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.

This book is super-cute. I bought it for my niece and she loves it! Loving Price's illustration style - sinewy inky lines with solid blocks of colour. Anyone who can make tentacled space monsters adorable gets my vote. My only wish is that every copy came with a banana launcher.

A cute book about a boy, a robot and a monkey that venture into outer space to secure a base. What to do with the aliens? Feed them bananas, of course! We used this in our extraterrestrial storytime this week (for 3-5 year olds) and the kids really enjoyed it!

Charming illustrations and Seussian rhymes. Rather short, but great for younger children.

Delightful, three color illustrations are interesting, like how the text is incorporated into the pictures, solid rhyme pattern.

This rhyming book is about a spaceman, monkey, and robot who are on base on the moon. Monkey begins dropping bananas outside, and all of a sudden, aliens begin eating the bananas.

I liked this book. It was a silly book about rhyming.

I would use this in my classroom to practice rhyming with students.

A secret base on the moon? What's it for? Apparently, for protecting earth from the ravenous aliens who would otherwise eat us up. I don't know that my littlest storytime kids could handle that twist... but it seems like a great pick for the older kids.

Cute, funny rhyming book about aliens in space encountered bu a spaceman and a monkey on a moon base. I didn’t read this right away but my students barely let me take this book back to the library. Now that I’ve read it, I understand. It’s really cute and funny. Love it.

This book doesn't deserve the low average rating it has on Goodreads. It's not amazing or anything but a fun quirky read about exploring outer space. Bring your space loving monkey tots and enjoy the ride to the moon.

Um, not my first pick but you never know what the kids will like. Both of my boys (2&5) really like this book, particularly the end.

Simple, imaginative/fantastical/non-scientific space exploration story. Some awkward half rhymes. Not the best, not the worst.

A silly story of aliens and bananas.

My only complaint- rhyming "data" with "crater."

hilarious and strange. . . we are trying to understand outer space right now and there are so many formulaic books, and then there are banana eating aliens. . . works for us.
