First: There was The Event, The Event that changed absolutely everything.
Then: There was nothing but confusion, confusion and pain
Now: All that’s left to do is save the world from darkness.

Trish is a regular seventeen year old girl, her life is rather boring actually. Home schooled and living alone, with only her mother for company.
That is until The Event, the very next day she's shipped off to a swanky boarding school in California, with very little explanation as to why.
One crazy situation leads to another confusing moment and she can't seem to catch her breath, or a break.
Throw in the mysterious Keagan, preparing for an epic battle between darkness and light, a prophecy that stems from The Old World and you get to go on a journey.

One you could never IMAGINE!

Three and a half stars.

Imagine, by Christiane Shoenhair & Liam McEvilly, follows a seemingly ordinary girl, Trish. One moment Trish is leading the life of a young woman, getting an education, falling love. The next minute she is thrust into a world where everything she ever knew about herself was a lie, and the book really heats up.
As much as I enjoyed Imagine, first person can be difficult to achieve. Trish has the potential to be a strong protagonist, however falls short on occasion. This could have been rectified with more showing rather than telling.
The strength of this book is the story, and story is important. A slow start, but do persist, as the story unfolds many exciting things come to light. This book has potential and can be placed in categories with Stephanie Myer’s ‘The Host’, and The Mortal Instruments Series, if only the limitations were rectified.
Overall, I’d like to know what happens to Trish, the story premise is just too good.

Trish is a 17 yr old girl who is just like any other girl, with the rolling of the eyes at her mom, to loving her and needing her mom. Have you ever imagined/wished for something to happen? Well that is just what happens to Trish, the next thing she knows is she is shipped off to a boarding school with no explanations. She is bitter and angry with her mother for sending her away, just like anyone would be.

On her very first day she literally runs into Keagan a good looking young man who seems shy and quiet, and Chelsey, a pretty girl, who has a bubbly personality. She just takes Trish as her friend and turns out to be one friend we all wish we had. Chelsey brings Trish out of her slump, and soon the two girls are going out with Eddi and Keagan. And for a little while things seem good/great. Trish is looking forward to her first kiss and dreaming of possible things to come with Keagan.

Then things take a turn and the book just gets better. Keagan and Eddi are not just normal boys and Trish’s whole life is about to change when her gift comes out. She now has to find the truth, as most of her life is based on lies and half truths. Even Keagan starts to question his beliefs and his heart.

A war is waging and they are now a part of that. Can they find a way to over come the past and the bad, for the greater good?

I found the book to be a good read and fun. Yet, also very thought provoking. Good against evil. A test of the bonds we share as friends, family and Humanity. A coming of age, first love and freewill. The challenges that face us all.

I did have a bit of a problem with a lot of minor contradictions in conversation and the story. I found that they did hit the nail on the head when talking about California and just loved the way the story line went.

I was a bit confused with how Artemis, who is a virgin goddess, was able to some how have descendants. With that being said, this is a fantasy. The characters were believable and I am looking forward to reading more. I like how you really got to feel the characters and get to know them. I liked the detail the authors went into, for each of them. I liked the way it felt. Like you were sitting right there as Trish tells you her thoughts.

“I love how books let you escape, how one minute you’re lying on your bed alone and with the turn of a page you’re in a foreign land painted in your mind by the author. Whether it is in the past, a different country or even a completely different world entirely, it’s a great way to escape.”

This describes “Imagine” perfectly. You can lose yourself in this book. I’m looking forward to book 2 in the Young Creator Trilogy, ”Touched By Darkness”. Due for release (approximately) February 15th!

This book was given to me by the Authors, Christiane Shoenhair and Liam McEvilly, in exchange for an honest review.

At first, I felt this was an okay story that had great potential. As I continued, I found myself getting pulled into it more and more. It probably wasn't until about the 60% mark that I really cared how it ended. The ending was well done with a resolution for now and the promise of more action in the future, which is to be expected since it is a series.

Now for the criticism. This could have been a much better book with some serious editing. There are missing words, words used incorrectly, and grammar mistakes. There were also multiple timeline issues where it seemed a large chunk of time just appeared from nowhere--the whole book lays out like it happens over the span of days and you later find out it has been months. The punctuation is either missing entirely or incorrect for a lot of the book. There are sentences that are incomplete, and even the ones that aren't were usually grammatical nightmares in one way or another. In addition, the flow of the book was very choppy. Plus, Trish seems to speak in a way that my own 17-year-old and his friends would laugh at.

With all of that said, however, I loved the concept of the Young Creators, and the origin story was thoroughly inventive. I will most likely pick up the next book to see where the story goes, but if it is riddled with the same issues, I won't continue beyond that.

Read this book by a recommendation and I would certainly recommend myself.

Really, enjoyed this story, the imagination and creativity behind the writing is brilliant. It takes you to a whole new world that I've never read about before "Young Creators" and found fascinating.

The story did start slowly but once it got going it did deliver and I loved that the lead character Trish see's things how I would, not how normal teenage girls are portrayed by just being self obsessed, she actually does care about things other than herself.

The strength Trish shows after finding out everything she believed was true was in fact a lie is brilliant and the ending to this book is heartbreaking and then brilliant.

I personally can't wait for the next installment to be released to find out where we are taken....

I liked it. Good characters. Fast paced. The ending was very disappointing. The story builds and builds then just fizzles.

Needs editing, stat. It's like a dying, needs a heart transplant patient. Also, the 17 year old sounds more like a 13 year old.
The book is pretty short, and I feel that if it was stretched out more...if we were given more time with the characters...it would have been better.
I am curious as to where they take the next book...but I am not paying 1.99 for the next book when I know it's going to be the same issues with this one. I read the sample.
