Facing death, enduring false accusations, and becoming a prisoner himself, missionary Terry Snow moved out in faith and boldness to share the gospel with the town of St. Marc in Haiti.
Amidst the tumult of civil war, gang-fighting, and terrorism, Terry's powerful ministry to the people of St. Marc took him form having a gunpointed to his head to being invited to pray in the presidential palace. His inspiring story shows how one man's obedience to God brought miraculous healing to gang leaders, prisoners, government officials, and the transformed town of St. Marc.

Wow. That was a word I repeated over and over as I read this incredible account of an ordinary man and his story of life with God and ministering to the Haitian people.
The story follows Terry Snow as he is raised in a Christian household but strays far from the faith as a young adult. It documents his return and calling he received from God to go to school to learn more about his faith. After joining staff at the school he went to, he goes on many outreaches with other students and one of the places he visits once or twice (unhappily) is Haiti. After feeling called to be a missionary and then realizing his call is for the country he liked the least out of his trips, he reluctantly follows the call with others called at the same time. We follow Snow’s journey as he works with many people to minister to Haiti, finally moving there and working to start the first YWAM base there! He meets his wife along the way and they work together to follow God’s calling and to serve the Haitians as much as they can.
This book had me thinking about it all the time and I was unable to put it down. It was fascinating and beautiful and touching and insane. The relationships and healing built between the Haitian people and the YWAMers was so exciting and the heart that these missionaries have for this amazing country was so encouraging to read about. One of the best of the International Adventures yet!
⭐️ ⭐️✨ I didn’t enjoy this book from the YWAM International Series as much as Dan Baumann’s story from Iran. There was a much greater emphasis on Pentecostal elements (visions, prophecy, “having enough faith,” hearing the voice of God “directly,” etc.), and the way some of these elements were described I think can be dangerous to how one views and understands God. It also included a couple instances of repenting for sins of one’s ancestors based on race, rather than one’s individual sins. I found these elements distracting from the bigger picture of what God accomplished.
The International Adventure series is amazing. I love reading about Christians who are alive and working today. All the books in this series are very well written. These books are all about various live that have been (and are being) lived for God's glory.
This was an awesome, gripping, compelling account of story after story of God's incredible work among the people of Haiti. It jumped around a bit, skipping over sections of the author's life to be able to detail the more dramatic parts, which was fine, but I found myself wanting to know more about the other parts.
Part of the reason I read this book is because I had been discouraged lately with the Western church and all the pastors and leaders who have fallen from sexual sin or toxic leadership. I read this book as a reminder of how God is at work and that there are still good things happening in the world! And that's what this book was. Unfortunately, in my curiosity to find out what the author is up to now (surely he's at the PEAK of effectiveness of his ministry in Haiti with his family!), I found out that he, too, admitted to marital infidelity, was forced out of ministry, divorced his wife, and is now selling tractors. Nothing against selling tractors or saying that God can't redeem and restore or that it negates the good God did through him during his time in Haiti, but I was just disappointed at yet another fallen leader. Sigh...
