Success Is a Journey: Making Your Life a Grand Adventure

Rate this book
If you think success is a one-step process, think again. Better yet, read on. This tale of adventure and discovery describes the beginning of Brian Tracy's personal journey to success and wealth. It began when he awoke one day with an exciting dream—to travel from the west coast of America to Cape Town, South Africa. That trip led to an unexpected and dangerous confrontation with reality deep in the heart of the Sahara Desert. He would never be the same again, having learned the critical importance of courage, persistence, and the acceptance of total responsibility for one's very survival. Using his story as a metaphor for any success in life, Brian Tracy shares how everyone can find similar lessons in their own lives. You learn the simple, yet essential steps you can take right now to achieve the greatness that lies within you. This is not a book of platitudes. It doesn't contain neatly numbered "secrets" of success. This book is about life, real life—and real su! ccess, with all its ups and downs. As you read, reflect on your own journey. You, too, will find success if you faithfully carry on.

Brian Tracy looks back on his days as a young man, when he and his friends undertook an adventurous and quite unprepared journey over sea and land, from north America to Europe, all the way down through the African continent, towards South Africa. At the time, Brian was 21 years old. A little unusual: after every episode of his journey, Brian dedicates a separate block of text to the lesson he learned from that particular episode. This shifts you from the story towards the present moment and is meant to make you reflect and learn. Nevertheless, it is a funny, enjoyable and entertaining book. Recommendable to anyone who wants to learn from the early life experiences of an extraordinary succesfull person.

I love the connection between seeing the world and learning some fundamental life lessons in the process. Being out of the familiar is a great place to grow, observe and expands your perspective like nothing else.
