A little out of date but it has some fun project ideas. It's easy to read and easy to follow. My biggest criticism is a lack of good/best practices - especially around security. But if you use it as a tool to build experience with the platform you'll have a good time.
This book starts off by showing you how to do the “hello world” of electronics – fade an LED in and out. It will take you right through all the fundamentals, including how to control a wide range of electronic sensors.
