There are parts that makes it hard to understand as there are a lot of titles, but I love the part where you learn about the truth of Emera. Finding out that while she has this great prophecy, there are others that will be with her on the journey. I love the relationship dynamic between her and Calian and I totally ship them together (if Sarah doesn’t make them end up with each other I’m rioting).
However, when you read the rest of the prophecy….now I don’t want her and Calian to fall in love because that’s a cruel prophecy. I do love the mix of elemental magic and chaos magic. I watch a lot of fantasy animes where elemental magic is a big thing. Chaos magic is more described as magic wielding darkness so I love how Sarah made her own version of Chaos magic.
I also love the backstory of the dragons and how everything is tied with the current events of the book. I watch a lot of fantasy animes and this book series would make a great anime series in my opinion.
I love the twist and turns at the very end and what a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read the sequel!
Fourth Wing meets ACOTAR hold the spice. This book is spectacular, I was not expecting it to be so good every time I thought I had it figured out- queue plot twist. Why should you read this? Fast paced even in the beginning Sassy FMC - we love her Chosen one vibes Trust NOONE Forced proximity romance- Calian is basically sent to be her body guard Telepathic connection with their animal sidekick- in this case horses 🫶🏻 You get elemental dragon shifter there’s lore without it feeling like a history book Fated mates. THE BANTER! Trials to test her power Found family Betrayal Has the guessing and asking questions literally to the last page
LITERALLY the only negatives I can say about this book and is I wish we would’ve got to know the other characters a bit more in depth and I wish there was just a little bit more world building but there was enough that it didn’t hinder my experience I just wanted to know more more more. - but there’s a second book coming and I have so much faith !!
Holy cannoli! This was such a good read. There were twists and turns; honestly, it felt like nothing was what you thought it was. This was such an excellent book to start the series, and I feel like I'm going to be obsessed with this series. I love anything about dragons, and Sarah Edgerton wrote a unique story about dragons. This book will suck you in, and she did a fantastic job keeping your attention with every chapter. There wasn't a time I felt bored, which was nice. I recommend this book; please read it. I promise you won't regret it.
I felt like the last 1/4 of the book was the best and I dragged through the first 3/4 of it. My book had at least 5 typos in it (for example, “Dragonhei” instead of “Dragonheir”), and the overuse of the word “dragon” was killing me. I get it- dragonplane, dragonmate, Dragonborn, yada yada.
I’m curious enough after the cliffhanger to read the next book, but I’m not sure I’ll recommend this one to friends.

I finished the book in hopes that it would get better as I got into it. Unfortunately for me, it did not. There was little character development and limited world building. It was hard to read with such simple sentence structure; it felt choppy to me. There were several typos that escaped editing. Will not continue the series.
A nice quick read from a fellow Kansan. the author tells you exactly what you need to know without giving too much away. I'm excited to delve into the next installment of this series.
Oh man! I was hooked from beginning to end! This book takes you on an amazing roller coaster, with all kinds of unexpected loops & turns! There’s dragons, there’s magic, theres a smoldering love interest & goofy but lovable friend, & a kick ass heroine, what more can you ask for?! I can’t wait for the second book!
