What if your world suddenly fell apart? What if you were suddenly ostracized and cut off from family and everyone you had cared for and loved for thirty years? What if you were the pastor's wife and it was all because of what God was revealing to you in His Word? How would you react? Find out how Carol does. Not many have been hurt by a church more than she has. Can she find peace and comfort in the midst of false accusations and absolute abandonment? Can she forgive even when no apologies come forth? Is the Lord's Love enough?
It's not easy to reveal the dark, painful parts of our lives. It makes us vulnerable and exposed. Yet Carol Dupre has decided to share her heart with us, so that we can know the powerful, redeeming love that only God provides. I am impressed with her writing, her use of words, her humor in spite of her pain, and most of all, with her faith. This is not just a story to blame and point fingers, it's not meant to shame anyone. It's a story of pain, loneliness, rejection, and finally, freedom. With God all things are possible. Carol has gone through a dark tunnel but has emerged on the other side with the joy of the Lord. She held it in for too long, so glad she decided to let it out. Well done Carol, well done!
This was personally meaningful, as air grew up in a post-hippie, evangelical church community that used (or abused) authority beyond healthy boundaries. A good book if the topic is something meaningful or personal to you or someone that you know. It begins to sound repetitive about 2/3 of the way through, as the author is clearly still working through a lot of the same issues chapter after chapter. At that point, I had gotten what I needed out of it and didn't have the urge to pick it up again.
Written in a unique way with great writing craft! Very healing! Makes you laugh and cry, but most of all be astounded by the power of the Love of our Lord Jesus.
