Annie Fellows Johnston (1863-1931) was an American author of children's fiction who wrote the popular "Little Colonel" series, which was the basis for the 1935 Shirley Temple film The Little Colonel. She was born and grew up in McCutchanville, Indiana, a small unincorporated town near Evansville, Indiana.
An excellent set of three stories from the turn of the century. This time, I was more appreciative of the second two stories, "The Giant Scissors" and "The Two Little Knights of Kentucky" than I was of "The Little Colonel." The first story is a tale of wrongs righted, then the second and third add to that with the endeavoring to be good children.
Perhaps a little overly dramatic in some parts, but sometimes things actually are like that, and give me the same twisty feeling in my heart.
Cute series. The first books in the series are about a young girl, but as the series progresses, she obviously grows up, and the books become more romantically-centered. It still is a very wholesome series, and the characters who act honorably are the favored characters.
