Winner of the RoNAs 'Christmas and Winter Seasonal Award' novel, 2022, with 'Winter at Cliff's End Cottage'.
I live in Chelmsford, UK, with my husband Alan. We have three married daughters and six grandchildren. I've been writing ever since I was a little girl, and finally achieved my lifelong ambition to have a novel published, with the acceptance in 2002 of 'The Trouble With Ally'. Prior to this, I'd been having short stories published in women's magazines for about ten years.
My most recent books are stories set in the English county of Devon, and most include pets in the story! They are feel-good contemporary fiction.
I worked for most of my life as a medical secretary. I now write full-time. I like to relax by reading, walking, swimming, and seeing my family and friends.
I am passionate about my writing and love to hear from my readers. I am also happy to give talks to writers' groups and others, and book signings, in my local area.
Lacklustre chick lit, Penny was more interesting than Michelle but just barely. Michelle was awfully casual about the disappearance of her boyfriend and very quick to move back home. Penny's dalliance was more believable but the plot points were all telegraphed well in advance. Some characters just didn't hang together properly and their motivations fairly inexplicable.
Excellent holiday reading. Took me less than 4 hours to read. Funny story about penny and her quest for a bypass in her town, which shoots her to stardom over her passion pud. We also meet her daughter Michelle who has lost her boyfriend literally while out for lunch.
I’ve read this a few times now and it’s one of my favourite chick lit books. A laugh out loud book with relatable characters that you can connect with.
I actually did enjoy this book. It was amusing. But, and it's a big but, there was too much swearing in it for my taste, so I probably won't read this author again. It's a shame, but there you go. There are words I don't want floating around my brain.
