What A Wonderful Thrill Ride This Book Is!!!!!!

I absolutely loved this book!!!! L. C. Hayden really does a WONDERFUL job with her characters!! Once I started reading I was on the edge of my seat and I just couldn't stop reading!! Aimee Brent is a great example of a young newspaper reporter looking for "THE" story to give her career a boost that would put her into the "big" League's of journalism. This book really was a mystery that kept me guessing from start to finish!!! It was a fantastic "thriller" and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I really recommend it to everyone who loves a fast moving and very well written and mysterious thriller! Aimee Brent is now one of my favorite characters and I really can't wait to see what she's going to do next!! I am really looking forward to more in the Aimee Brent series!!! L. C. Hayden is a great author and I certainly can't wait to read more of her books!!!!

LC Hayden – Aimee Brent Bk 1 – ILL Conceived

When the past invades the future, the results could spell a disastrous ending!

A young girl goes missing, but no one is sure whether she has run away again or not. A local woman, called Grandma Louise, reports she heard a scream that night. No matter what anyone else thinks, Aimee Brent, a reporter for the North Shore Carrier, decides to check it out and try to solve the mystery. Aimee was unaware then, but her past was about to catch up with her! Aimee was seven when both her father and mother were killed. For years now, she had blocked out both incidents. The only trouble was this recurring dream threatening to push her over the edge. Over the years, though, she has learned to control the devastation that it brings to mind. But now she is on a path that might change all that, and the story begins…

What did I like? This book was a highly intense storyline that kept my mind so involved that I read all night, which was good because I have been having trouble reading and keeping my mind on the book. I can tell you I absolutely did not have that problem with this book. From page one, I WAS HOOKED!

What will you like? Exciting characters, a little romance, an extreme storyline, mystery abound, and a shocking ending! It’s a small town, and everyone knows everyone, and their business, so prepare yourself to be surprised and keep a few tissues at hand. Aimee takes us on a nightmare of a journey, and it will be shocking where it ends up!

This is one of those quick, read in a day type of books. While I did enjoy the suspense of the story, it was obvious halfway through the story who the “bad guy” was. There was one surprise at the end, however. I didn’t think the characters were developed enough, and the writer also repeats a lot of phrases. Overall, it was a decent read, and I’d be willing to give another Aimee Brent novel a chance.

Amiee Brent is a news reporter who initially was writing about runaway girls. She set out to to try and find Lauri Evans, a young girl who had a history of running away. She then discovers that Lauri has been brutally murdered. Lauri's murder brings a flash back to 18 years ago when Amiee's mother was murdered by the man with the evil eyes. Will Aimee be able to solve Lauri's murder before she herself becomes a victim. Lc Hayden's book has numerous twists and turns and just when you think you have the murder solved, some additional evidence turns up. Recommend this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series.

Solid mystery, probably could have had one less subplot, but still a very enjoyable read.
