I liked this one ok - the way the story was laid out was confusing at times. It all comes together in the end, but I felt dropped into the middle of things and trying to figure out things - am I reading a series of short stories? Oh well, inspirational in many ways, wish I could rate higher.

I loved the author's first book in the series, The Color of Heaven, so I decided to try another one. This second book is another good story, with solid writing and interesting twists. However, I was not a fan of the POV changes every few chapters. I would have much preferred if the author either wrote it in third person or stuck to one first-person perspective. I did enjoy the story and was happy to see the topic of adoption weaved through it. As an adoptive parent, I appreciate stories that shed light on the subject and portray it realistically. I would recommend The Color of Destiny to fans of romance novels that offer a touch of mystery.

THE COLOR OF DESTINY is a "stand alone" book and # 2 in Julianne MacLean's THE COLOR OF HEAVEN SERIES.
This story covers a span of roughly twenty years and is told from three different points of view - Kate Worthington, Ryan Hamilton and Marissa Smith. Kate tells her story first. Although Kate's story is told from different points in her life, this is not at all confusing. Was it destiny for Kate to live a life with trials and tribulations?
Was it destiny for her to become a paramedic?
In Part 3 we meet Ryan Hamilton and he relates his story from youth to present day.
I wanted to give Kate and Ryan a stern lecture and reality check when they acted recklessly. Was it youth or destiny that caused those behaviours?
I liked and admired most of the characters in this novel, especially Kate, Ryan, Grace, Marissa, Abigail and Elizabeth. Their appearances and personalities were unique and realistic. I felt that I knew them well enough to recognize them on the beach or at a restaurant.
The beautiful descriptive language allows me to smell the ocean air, hear and see the rolling waves and feel the cool breezes while exploring the beaches in Chester, Nova Scotia.
Did destiny lead Ryan to Nova Scotia to be an emergency doctor?
This story is very well written and deserving of all the accolades. Julianne MacLean is an amazing and excellent author and I eagerly look forward to her next book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic novels with a bit of mystery, suspense, and some twists, turns and surprises.

I liked the story. Love the premise that all things happen for a reason. The writing was clean and characters well developed.
I found the book a bit frustrating as I tried to figure out how the beginning story connected to the second story in the book. I wish the connection had been made a little sooner, because that frustration made the story feel like the plot was dragging a bit.
I wasn't surprised by the ending - nor was I disappointed.
An interesting read. I will certainly add "The Color of Heaven" to my to-read list, as well as "The Color of Hope" to finish out the trilogy.

Julianne MacLean's “The Color of Destiny” is her second contemporary novel, coming on the heels of “The Color of Heaven,” which I read a few months ago (and loved). The books can be read independently, but trust me, you'll want to read them both. They're captivating.
“The Color of Destiny” shifts smoothly between three very different but interconnected characters, people who not only survive tragedies, but thrive, discovering love where it is least expected. She gets inside the main characters' heads, but she also expertly weaves in the secondary characters, pulling us into a beautiful tapestry. Story 4 stars and narration 5 stars. At times I wasn’t sure about this read, thinking maybe 3 stars, but the last 60% was so good that I listened non-stop. It’s more a story of destiny than a romance, although there is romance. It’s one woman’s life and all the twists and turns that happen in life although she does have some lousy luck. It’s the people in her life, how they change her and how she changes them as well. How just a simple twist of fate can make all the difference. At times it’s unbelievable and that was okay too. I ended up really enjoying the listen and recommend it to people that like a different sort of women’s fiction. Now available on the Escape package on Audible.

"The Color of Destiny" is the second book in Julianne MacLean's The Color of Heaven series and I liked this one even better than the first book. Although this is the second book in the series, you definitely do not need to read the first book before you read this one (although you should read that one at some point because it is also a good book) as this book follows a minor character in the first book.
The book follows the story of Kate and Ryan. Kate and Ryan both have had very difficult lives in very different ways. Their story is a story of redemption and fate and of course, destiny. The book is told from the perspective of several different characters including Kate and Ryan. Again, the first person narration worked oh so well here because you really get a chance to get into the characters' heads, which is important as there is a huge twist or rather a couple of huge twists in the book where it's so good to know what's going on in the characters' heads.
At first is a little bit difficult to see how things are going to come together because the book goes through a lot of Kate's story and then Ryan's story comes in much later. I kept waiting for the connection between the two and eventually it does come and it is fantastic so it is definitely worth sticking this book out. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

An automobile accident costs her the life of her sister and she thinks her baby died. But it leads her to a career as a Paramedic. Her husband's choices affect her life. So to the point that she is on run when she is hired to help with an Alzheimer's patient.
Ryan is a doctor. He has a patient come to him with her beautiful daughter. Instantly he falls in love with her and starts to date her. Her husband had died and his Mom lives with them.
They marry and then he loves his wife to breast cancer. Gram is told she has Alzheimer's.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Color of Destiny from the first page to the last. Lots of high emotion in this one with enthralling characters and an intriguing plot. While the narrator is not outstanding, she does a credible job. Can't wait to read the next one in this series. Happy reading/listening!

This book takes two lives and intertwines them neatly, conveying the sense that one decision can impact your life forever. Told in the first person by different characters at different times, the story moves along at a fast clip, with short chapters, allowing a greater impact. Kate, the heroine, is a paramedic, changed forever through a series of events that started in high school. How she dealt with those the rest of her life is enthralling.
Ryan, a doctor, who also had his life dramatically changed at a young age, also used that to create a different life from the one he was traveling on. These two both had significant life altering events that changed (or started them on) their destiny. How they find each other is either a miracle, or fate.
MacLean is a wonderful writer, fleshing out her characters over time, giving a greater sense of who they are and why they became the people they turned into. Kate is a strong woman, and Ryan is equally strong, but to me he wasn't as fleshed out as well. Kate is the real star here, along with Ryan's step-daughter Marissa who seems to be the hinge that connects everyone together. Great story and worth the time.

This is the 2nd in the Series of The Color of Heaven..After reading the first one, I grabbed this one up and I am not disappointed..These
books are uplifting and keep you interested all the way through.

I'm most familiar with the author as a historical writer, so this was my first experience with her contemporary work. Written in the first person, we get a better feel of the characters and their thoughts and feelings. I will say that towards the end I was getting frustrated, as I didn't think the book was going where I thought it was going to go. And then the big right turn. It was fascinating to read. Really great characters and a superb story line. Made me examine my own life's twists and turns, wondering what a hand destiny played there. I'll need to go back and read the first book of the series now. Highly recommended.

I started this book right after finishing the first book in the series. I liked how the author tied in the first book but let this one also stand by itself.
This book is about Kate, who is a paramedic. One of the paramedics that came to the rescue of Sophie from the last book. Kate has quite a story to tell about how she got to where she is. Young love, death and heartache. It's hard to talk about these books too much without giving things away.
Also the book is about Ryan, who was a wild boy until a bad accident made him turn the corner and become a doctor.
Kate and Ryan's lives eventually come together to find each other and much more.

Being a HUGE believer in fate, and destiny, I couldn't wait to start reading the 2nd book in "The Color" series. This was a real page turner, and I absolutely loved it. I have read books #1 and 5 as they were free on Kindle and couldn't wait to pick up this one. I don't think you have to read them in order...but maybe you should since they are in a series. The Color of Destiny was a book about the intertwining of several lives, how hardships and unexpected circumstances can lead one down new paths, and the fate that can bring people together. Looking forward to book #3 The Color of Hope as well as other books by Julianne Maclean.

Güzel kitaplar kendini nasıl da belli ediyor.. Hemen elinize aldığınız gibi bitiriyorsunuz. Yazarın duyguları yansıtması, beni güldürmesi, hüzünlendirmesi harikaydı. Kate's voice is one of someone who survives. She loves her job. She's a good paramedic.
What she doesn't realize is that she is someone who was left to survive a terrible accident when she was young for a purpose.
And love an troublesome man from her high school years.
Everyone has a purpose. And Kate's is revealed through a descriptive story of young love. For every action there is a equal and oppostive reaction.
A great read!

I wanted to like this story, I really did because I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I gave it 3 stars because I loved the first 1/2, but then it changed into another story and took way too long and was too complicated to bring it all together. I didn't even finish it. I am sorry too because the potential was there. : (

This was an excellent book continuing from the previous one. A r about a young girl who gets pregnant at 16 and then is involved in a car accident. This author intertwines multiple stories. Can't say more or I would give it away. Well worth reading!

I'm really enjoying this series and the writing style! Very entertaining and thought provoking. They could be read independently, but I think reading the series in order is helping me enjoy them even more. I look forward to reading the next in the series!
