Rate this book
This little inspirational gem that is sure to brighten everyone's day is the first release from a series of books promoting The Lort Smith Animal Hospital. "Paws for Thought" was launched on Sunday 12th November @ 11 am at an Open Garden Day by Olympian and TV celebrity, Giaan Rooney, an Ambassador for the Lort Smith Hospital. Everyone who has ever had a pet, worked with animals or simply observed them closely can tell you - animals have a way of adding humour, sentiment or insight to our lives! In 'Paws for Thought' melbourne cartoonist Bev Aisbett has drawn from her experience of this to present dozens of examples where animals provide understanding or a new perspective on our everyday concerns. This gorgeous little book is the first in a series of publications to be launched to raise funds from the proceeds of sales, for the Lort Smith Animal Hospital. This non-profit organisation receives no government funding. Based in Melbourne, Australia, it was founded by Mrs Lort Smith who had a passion for lost, abandoned, mistreated, sick and injured animals. It is now the largest animal hospital in the southern hemisphere with a staff of over 100, and a volunteer work force exceeding 300 who, together, tend to the needs of more than 80,000 animals a year. It continues to provide care for animals belonging to people of limited means, promotes responsible pet ownership and fosters an awarebess of animals and the benefits they bring. The vision of the Lort Smith Animal Hospital is a world in which animals are respected and where the bonds between people and animals is understood and valued.
