Have you ever been so in love with someone, but not had the courage to tell them?
Nicole Tepper is that girl. She loves her boyfriend Dale, but fearing rejection, keeps her feelings buried deep. She can’t even let on how heartbroken she is when Dale begins applying for colleges thousands of miles away from her; never even whispering a word about how much she wishes he would stay close.
But, when Dale is rejected from Columbia University in NYC, due to a police record that follows him wherever he goes, Nicole soon discovers that love can drive her to do things she never thought possible.
There's more than one way to say, I love you and Nicole Tepper is about to prove to Dale that she loves him beyond all common sense.

Beyond went, well, beyond my expectations (haha!) After I finished reading Betwixt, I was sure that the author had a perfect conclusion and didn’t need another novella. Well, Melissa Pearl proved me wrong! I was immediately sucked into Nicole’s story!
I loved seeing Nicole and Dale together without the threat of her death! They were so sweet! I loved how, even though she didn’t want to be separated, Nicole made it her mission to get Dale into his dream college.
Do you remember how I mentioned I thought the villain of Betwixt got off easy? That is fixed in Beyond! Seeing their terrible acts come back and bite might have been the best part of the book!
Overall, I loved this conclusion to the Betwixt trilogy. I am left immensely satisfied!
Anyone who wants to dive back into the lives of Nicole and Dale from the novel ‘Betwixt’ must read this! Focusing on them as a couple was refreshing and I really enjoyed their interactions. Like in ‘Betwixt’, you can just feel throughout it that these two are made for each other.
Told from Nicole’s point of view, it follows her as she worries about what life will be like after Dale leaves for college. Will he go far away? It’s so concerning that she finds herself pulling all the strings to figure out what she really wants and what she’s willing to sacrifice to get Dale what he wants. He’s more than deserving, and she knows he’s worth every bit.
This does tie up some loose ends from the novel ‘Betwixt’ and it leaves us with a satisfying end when everything comes to a conclusion. Nicole was a bit sulky during the first part of it, mainly due to Dale’s impending leave. Who can blame her? Man does she suck it up and goes off to demand that he get what he deserves with any means possible. Her actions stir up a pot of very distasteful issues, but it’s highly necessary to fix what’s been in the back of everyone’s mind for many, many months and must be put to rest.
Great conclusion for an exciting series that leaves you still wanting to dwell longer in the lives of these characters.
I received an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.
I give this Novella, 4 stars; What does this mean to me? This novel was great! I recommend everyone to go out and grab a copy!
Beyond is a wonderfully written Novella, that continues the Love story between Dale and Nicole from the Novel, Betwixt. If you've read Betwixt or even if you haven't read betwixt, this novella is one to have in your collection.
Ohhhhh The woes of love and the its wonderful insecurities.
Nicole and Dale are two young adults who have been through the ringer and are now trying to overcome the past and be better people. They've learned to lean on each other through the hard times and now they have become inseparable, with one small problem. Neither one of them have actually said "I love you" This is the dilemma that Nicole is having in Beyond. She same questions keep popping in her head over and over again. Should I say I love you, Will you run away if i do? Do you love me back? What happens if I don't tell you how I feel? Then, to make the situation even harder,Dale is a senior this year and seems to have his heart set on going to Columbia University. Nicole is beside herself with worry, what will happen when he moves 1000's of miles away to New York. Oh wait, I can't forget to mention that she finds herself turning to Adam for help. This is the the boy who hit her with his car in betwixt. You have to read this to see what happens!
Melissa Pearl's writing really lets you feel the characters emotions and believe that they are real people. It's the kind novel that has you rooting for the good guys and realizing that maybe the bad guys are not so bad after all.
So in conclusion, don't hesitate to read this Novella. It's a great read and it really gives you a great ending to this series. If you are like me and haven't read Betwixt yet, I'm sure you will be ready to read it as soon as you finish Beyond.
Last but certainly not least, I'm gonna leave you with a Quote from the book. I absolutely adore this quote and find the truth and honesty in it very refreshing:
"Bravery's a choice. It's not something you're born with or without. It's something that grows inside you each time you choose to stand up and fight for the right thing. Each time you choose to speak out instead of staying silent." Each time you take on a force greater than yourself for the sake of others."
I believe that each time we read a book, you should be able to find something meaningful. If you could ask Nicole, Dale and Adam, what they learned from all of the troubles they've gone through...They could all answer with this quote. Great Job Melissa Pearl, I'm so glad that you put these words into Nicole mouth.
WARNING SPOILERS POSSIBLE!! {I was given the Privilege of reading an ARC for my Honest review} Thank you Melissa!

These two are Genuinely Sweet together but all is not Perfect. I for one can't get enough of Nicole and Dale and hope for more of them in the near future! If you fell in love with Nicole/Dale in "Betwixt" then you Have to Read this novella!!!
It gave some follow-up and closure to the Adam and Sheriff Hutton aspect of BETWIXT that I’d felt I’d been missing in the previous story. It also explored Nicole and Dale’s relationship now that Nicole and Dale can interact physically as well as verbally, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In general, I felt like it tied up all the loose ends from BETWIXT. While it didn’t captivate me quite the way BETWIXT did, it fulfilled its purpose as a follow-up novella and added to the story as a whole.
I appreciated getting the closure I wanted and needed after such an amazing story in BETWIXT and I loved getting to see how Dale and Nicole interacted now that they were on equal playing fields.

Beyond is the short story following Nicole after the events of Betwixt. Now that she is back in her body and dating Dale other problems start to come to the surface. Dale is looking for college's and Nicole is feeling left out, she would have to go through senior year without him and being left with no friends seems terrible to her. But when Columbia rejects Dale and he is devastated Nicole decided to do whatever she can to make his dream come true and show how much she loves him.
In the beginning Nicole was all whiny, only thinking about how she was going to lose Dale and how she doesn't deserves him. It was an on and on inner dialogue about all her problems, even the ones yet to come. She was drowning in her insecurities and that was driving me mad. But after a few pages she finally showed us how she changed and grew. She decided to put Dale first and tried to do anything possible to help him.

What would you do for the one you love? That's exactly the question Nicky Tepper asks herself when the love of her life isn't able to have what he has worked for... The love between these characters is evident and very sweet - a continually growing romance. Nicky is a tough girl who has made dramatic changes in her lfe, Dale came to her rescue in the past and has been the constant in her new life - she loves him and comes to realize that love is more than just talk, it's actions that speak louder. With some help from Adam (the hit n' runner) and unwillingly the town sheriff, she makes this dream happen only to realize that dreams change... A great YA story... Can't wait to see what happens next for these two!
Dale and Nicole are together, but Dale is heading off to College, and he wants to go to Columbia, on the other side of the Country. While Nicole loves Dale, she can't say the words, for fear that he will reject them. So when Dales dreams of Columbia are shattered, she decides to make things right. This is a wonderful wrap up story for Betwixt, and shows the growing relationship between Nicole and Dale.
And do they declare their love for each other? You will have to read it and find out for yourself.
Seriously, this was just one of those OMG books. It continued the story where Betwixt left off... telling us what really happened between Dale and Nicole and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I know I sound like some kind of crazy stalker reader but, seriously... shut the front door! I did not want this book to end. AWESOME
This continues the story of Dale & Nicole from Betwixt. I love that Nicole stood up to the sheriff and I have a soft spot for Adam, he's a good guy who was forced into making some bad choices. A must read if you enjoyed Betwixt.
Read the first 2 books in this series and it was satisfying to have some closure on Dale and Nicky's eventful past. This book showed how strong and brave Nicky becomes with her new outlook on life. She finds that her love for Dale is truly real and she is struggling with how to express it to him. I love her mom's words in the book when she tells Nicky "Love him more than you love ypurself". During this story she is able to speak up for herself and Dale and correct some decisions that still haunt her from the past. Great ending to a series however I feel like it is left open just wide enough that it could continue with college life for them both. (Hint, hint)
I just finished the Betwixt series by Melissa Pearl! All three only took me a couple of days and my full review will be posted on all three for Amazon, Goodreads and my blogger once it is done. I would recommend to read The space between heartbeats, Betwixt then Before in the series.
I love all of Melissa Pearl/Jordan Ford books! I couldn't believe that I missed this fantastic series! Betwist, the Sequel and Prequel was so unexpected and had some supernatural twists that will leave you guessing! I fell in love with Dale from the start and the suspense of finding Nicole to see if she survives kept me on my toes till the very end. Read this series and check out all of this author's books as well!
This review is for the 2022 revised edition. This author always manages to pull me into her stories and I can't let go. After betwixt we see the recovery for Nicole, it's a long painful journey but she is alive. Dale is applying for colleges, will that be the end for them? She needs her protector but must not be selfish, his past could come back to haunt him making him ineligible for his choices. She'll do anything to help him get what he deserves. It was nice to see the author also writing the wrongs of the other characters in this story. The truth needed to come out or eat away destroying other lives. Great series, I've really enjoyed it.
How can Nicole show Dale that she loves him? He is going to college next year and his dream in Columbia. Can she help him get intoColumbia, surfacing a dangerous secrets and sending him away from her? Love is always worth it.
At last, Nicole and Dale have weathered her life-changing accident and are now a pair although neither has uttered the words, “I love you”. The sexual tension is high but Dale has taken a vow to abstain until he finds The One, the woman he wants to marry. Nicole hopes against hope that will be her but she just can’t be sure. When she finds out he wants to go to a college on the East Coast, leaving her behind, her dreams dwindle but she has to do one last very important thing for Dale.
Dale’s parents have become somewhat more lenient since he was so badly injured but they still seem to be unaware that they have treated him much the way they were treated by their own parents. It’s as if they’ve learned nothing and they expect Dale to make up for their personal losses. This aspect of his family life really took me by surprise since it shows he still hasn’t re-earned their trust even after everything that has happened and his obviously changed behavior since they moved to Big Bear.
Beyond is all about bravery, the kind that’s needed to face your fears, to do the right thing, to sacrifice your dreams so someone else can have theirs.
Overview
The Betwixt Series is almost a primer on how parents can fail no matter which road they take. In Nicole’s case, her mom and dad were far too lenient, letting her make so many wrong choices because they thought she needed to find her own way to cope with grief. Dale’s parents took the opposite approach and their constant rules and regulations drove him to an existence with no real point other than rebellion. Both teens are wanderers in life with no confidence in themselves or belief in anything. This, of course, is the focus of much Christian fiction and Melissa Pearl handles it very well without being heavyhanded.
The series also exemplifies the idea that we must hit rock bottom before we can truly heal from our own misguided and self-destructive behavior. Certainly Nicole and Dale are both on the verge of death when they begin to understand what really matters and, in doing so, reach a point at which each just might have a chance to survive with grace.
Finally, it’s a tale of two teens whose lives intertwine and how that ripples out to their families and to the wider community. It’s a tale very well-told and I’ll be reading more by Melissa Pearl.
I really enjoyed getting more of Dale and Nicole, I just wished it had been longer and had more to it. We know what happened in Betwixt and yet we really weren't giving the justice for Nicole the way we thought. Those who harmed her get away with it and we are shown more of what happens in this short story.
I just wish there would have been more. Nicole is faced with the reality that Dale will be leaving for college soon but she just didn't realize he had views of going to the East Coast schools. After a conversation with her mom she realizes that she needs to show Dale how much she loves him and do what she can to help him reach his dreams.
This is a good read if you have liked the first two. I want more!!!
Dale & Nicole are back! I love them! And look at the cute cover >,<
edit after finish There's a niggle part for me in Betwixt; the sheriff and his son, and though this sequel also picking up at that part, I still not satisfied.
And Dale & Nicole still my fave part! Nicky still a selfish, stubborn girl while Dale still a loving-romantic boyfriend. As much as I love Dale - Nicky, I think it's time for Adam's story ^,,^
Beyond is the sequel to Betwixt by Melissa Pearl. This novella gave us a glimpse into the lives of Nicole and Dale after Betwixt. They are an adorable couple. Dale's past is coming back to bite him as he applies for colleges. Nicole is determined to help, but doesn't know how, plus she's afraid of what will happens once he leaves. I wouldn't mind hearing more from Dale and Nicole in the future, but while looking around on the author's blog it looks like this is the final book for them. Beyond wrapped up this story line nicely. Beyond by Melissa Pearl was provided to me by Xpresso Book Tours for review. The opinions are my own.
This book gives us the continuation of Nicole and Dale’s story. Dale has been applying to colleges and Nicole is worried about how things will be when Dale leaves for college. After all, he has been her constant rock and the one she leans on when things get tough. Dale can’t seem to escape his past, which makes getting accepted to colleges harder. Nicole loves Dale but doesn’t really know how to tell him that she wants him to go somewhere near her. With the secret about what happened to her kept quiet, she does what she believe is best for Dale, which brings her, the sheriff, Adam and the mayor face to face in an all-out battle the sheriff is determined to win. I really enjoyed this short story and would love to read more of Dale and Nicole.
"Beyond" is the third book in Melissa Pearl's series that starts with "Before" and continues with "Betwixt". (Love the titles!) In this third installment, Melissa neatly wraps up the storylines from previous books and throws in a nice twist at the end while still delivering a romantic and happy ending. Dale and Nicole make a great couple and I hate to say goodbye to them. (Especially Dale; what a prize!) Hopefully, the author has an exciting new series in the works!
Both Before and Beyond are both short reads, easily finished within the day, and worth it to complete the story. Beyond, though my least favorite of the three, really does trim all those loose threads still hanging from Betwixt. You really can’t have the WHOLE picture without it. MUST read!
A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Glad I read all three together. It tied up the questions I had about the book. I love how Dale changed and became a sweet guy who acted like the perfect boyfriend. even to the very end.
Loved reading the conclusion to the story of Dale and Nicole. As usual the author has mixed in mystery , suspense, love, and teenage emotion into an enjoyable read.
A sweet novella to give a more satisfying conclusion to the series. The unexpected friendship between Adam and Nicky was really cute. It was also great to see the improved relationship between Nicole and her parents. Dale is also amazing as always.
