Getting stuck on an elevator with the sexy boss you’ve been fantasizing about….yup it was just as hot as it sounds. Especially when you find out he reciprocates that.
James White is the CEO and a very good looking one at that. He owns the architectural firm that Rachel works at as a secretary. While delivering mail to him, he decides to go to the elevator with her and the elevator stalls with them both in. The chemistry ignites for them and the passion is on. This was a nice short story that I enjoyed.
Rachel Masters works as a secretary for a high-powered architecture firm and she has a crush on her boss, James White. She’s not his personal secretary—so that’s different from the typical office romance story—but one of many secretaries in the business. When they’re riding on an elevator together, it gets stuck and she has a panic attack. She’s claustrophobic and he helps her through it. Things heat up, on and off the elevator. This is a quick erotic romance. The sex is sooooo hot, their attraction is believable, but I don’t like loose ends. Rachel and James agreed to get to know one another better and see what happens between them, but how will they act at work? Will their relationship be an office secret or will they be open about it among their colleagues and face possible ridicule? Besides that loose end, the book needs a light edit to fix a few typos. Nothing major. Other than that, it’s well-written and kept my interest. I’d love to read more stories by this author. 4 Stars

Heather's Notes This was hot. I rolled my eyes a little at what she was wearing under her office clothes but otherwise it was a good story. I also would have liked a little tighter ending, but it made sense.
As cliche as this is, it was a ridiculously good short read. It took less than an hour to reach all the spicy peppers and a smidgen of story, too! Nicely done! -Jorja Rae (independent author)
This was a pretty good story. It's short so we don't get a lot of background but it's a hot little story with a HFN (happy for now) ending.
Rachel works as a receptionist and has the hots for her boss, James White. She's always tried to behave professionally around him but when she's trapped in a elevator with him and her claustrophobia kicks in, she finds herself on the receiving end of some rather intimate attention from her boss.
James is hot. We don't get a lot of info about him but he seems very forceful and dominant. He's wanted Rachel for a while but the time was never right to approach her (but he's always intended to make her his). When they're trapped in the elevator together, he takes the opportunity to move things forward between them.
James and Rachel have a hot interlude in the elevator and more in his office/apartment. Basically they have some really hot sex and find the attraction between them just keeps growing. They decide to spend more time together to explore the start of a relationship between them.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Rachel and James and while I wouldn't have minded getting more of their story, I liked how it ended and it wasn't really lacking. It was ended with hope which I liked very much. I'd recommend this story.
Rachel watched impatiently for the day to come to an end. After being set up on a blind date by her sister she knew that she was crunching on minutes and making it home to meet her date on time was looking kind of bleak. As the time progressed, she grabbed her lipstick to freshen up her lips when Mr. All of 6 feet...CEO sex-on-a-stick walks past making her desire and want for him more and more. Minutes pass, she's dropping off company mail... she reaches the bosses office to make a drop, they exchange words and glances...then she heads towards the door when he says wait...well he says more, but to (hear/read more)...you need to buy the book. This by far was a double shaft treat...pardon the pun. A quick read with sexaction in an elevator stuck between floors couldn't have come at a better claustrophobic time... For Rachel being rejected for jobs over and over & landing a job that has led her right into the arms of a man where membership has its privileges definitely turns steamy. But it doesn't stop there!...So what are you waiting for...Tory definitely put her big girl's on when she wrote this one.
Up in Flames is an erotic short that features Rachel, a secretary at a large company, that has a crush on her boss James. While the love scenes are smoking hot I would have liked to have had more plot to the story. The beginning started out strong. The short is told completely from Rachel’s perspective so while we can see her internal dialogue dictating some of her choices, we never get that from James.
The short is only 30 pages long so we are only with the characters for one night. After a short intro of characters, James and Rachel end up trapped in an elevator. Rachel is claustrophobic so James distracts her with some erotic play. I know it is just a short but I would have loved to see a bit more development of the relationship and have some insight on what would happen in the future.
Basically I did enjoy this as a short but I would have loved to have more. More James and Rachel together, more details about what will happen ect. All in all a nice quick steamy read.
For what it was, it was okay. It's a bit similar to Midnight Secretary without the paranormal element. I liked Midnight Secretary better. The editing got in the way of this story for me.
We have no reason to care about these characters. It pretty much jumps straight into sex after the briefest of character introductions. It's erotica. It's simple. It pretty much ignores anything which should have caused an amount of internal struggle. (Harassment concerns, being fired, condoms, getting pregnant (because she should "have a couple of days" before she has to worry about it)) Just threw all of that out the window, when addressing any of those could've made it a stronger story. The story ended before the point where those things would be discussed, sadly.
2.5 stars, rounded down because it doesn't have rereadability for me.

What to do when you have a bad case of claustrophobia, along with a bad case of wanting your boss, and find yourself trapped in an elevator with him? Try a little love in the elevator, of course!
Up in Flames is a short story that you want more of, especially since the story was steamy from the beginning. The author gave us a one night glimpse into the life of two characters. Rachel, the sultry vixen behind the pent up clothing and glasses, and the hot boss, James. While Rachel may get hot flashes thinking about her boss, she’s not so sure he notices her, but once their stuck inside the company elevator, James reveals he has always wanted to get to the naked truth of the woman behind the professional attire.

Rachel Adams knew the only way to get the job that she wanted was to dress professionally. Only problem is that she has had a crush on James White since she first saw him. She know he is never going to give her the time of day. All of that changes when they get caught in an elevator together. What turns into a night of fright for Rachel because she hate enclosed places, becomes a night of unbelievable passion.
This is a really hot read. Made me want to have a little time with some toys. I enjoyed every single minute of this book. This is the first time that I have read something by this author. I loved the little story and the only thing I didn’t like was I felt that there was more that needed to be said at the end of the book. Other than that I had no problems and would read it again.
If you love short and hot books then this is the one for you. Enjoy!
Some stories move to tears. Other stories move you to close the book. While not quite either, Up in Flames just didn’t move me. I was unimpressed with much of the premise behind the book. Maybe my expectations are too high for erotic romance authors; however, this book left a lot more to be desired. The writing was average. The writer wrote a good story but the story did not tell me anything about the characters. The book felt dry and not really capturing some of the things that I felt it could have. For example, I felt that the conversation between the two main characters was predictable and I could anticipate where it was going before it went there. Overall, I don’t recommend the book as is. I feel like it has a good premise. With better character building (even for a short story) and some more sentence variety, it could have a great short story for an anthology.
Some may like it, I was not one of them. I give the book Three Autumn Leaves.
Up in Flames is a short story/novella coming in at 33 pages according to Amazon. While I don't usually read stories this short because I feel short-changed sometimes, I decided to give it a try since I have liked this authors writing in the past.
Not much can be said about this book in a review. It was short. To the point. Filled with lots of sex as well since it is an erotica read. The writing was good with lots of sexy time, I just wish it could have been longer with more of a buildup for the characters. I know novellas are rushed and needing to fit within a short amount of pages, but it was too rushed if that makes sense.
If you are a fan of short reads, then this book will feed your hunger for this sort of craving. If you are like me and have a hard time with short stories, then be forewarned that it is quite short and rushed.
Rachel Adamas.. was an excellent secretary.. of the utmost pride in her professional dress, and her ability to watch but not touch the boss. After 3 years, a night like most nights she went up to drop of a letter on the boss's secretaries desk, he heard her and told her to bring it to him. James White handsome, intelligent, and now single at last heads down in the elevator with Rachel..when all of a sudden it gets stuck.. Rachel being claustrophobic begins to panic.. Jame's cue to ramp up the heat.. and boy did he.
A very short read, some hot sex... not over the top.
my actual rating for this would have to be a 2.5 really. i loved the sex scenes, those were great but i sort of wished James was just a little more possessive.
The story wasn't horrible or anything, because there there were those cute little couple moments but, i was just looking for a more alpha/possessive type of male. That's just how i like my men. ahha Great short story though, i just wished it had a more definite happy ending.
Oh wow! This book totally deserves its title. If you're looking for scorching hot office sex between the secretary and the boss, you've grabbed the right book. LOL! There's not much to this story plot and character-wise, but then, there's not supposed to be. It does leave the door open for a relationship to build from their encounter. A short read that will rev you up!
This whole story was full of conveniences the author wrote for herself that simply aren't reasonable. There were lots of vulgar details given, but didn't connect the reader to the characters some how. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, hot story with no plot or connection to the characters.
A blind date? It was so good of James White to change Rachel's plans so she could avoid that embarrassment. Hot scenes, hot sex. The banter between them was just right, so enjoyable.
A wonderful guilty pleasure, consumed quickly with some chocolate. I can't wait to read more from Tory Richards.
A 30 page long story about a secretary at a large company whom has a crush on her boss. They get trapped in the elevator and that's when things get _Hot!!! It is well written, detailed and spicy. Both characters were great. Recommended!
A very short but hot as hell read. I hope the author continues with this couple's story. I think I might develop claustrophobia if I'm ever stuck in an elevator with a Mr. White.
