Darren used to watch movies for a living. It's not as fun as it sounds. Now he writes the YA horror/comedy series PETER AND THE MONSTERS, about a 10-year-old boy who moves into his grandfather's creepy old mansion and bad, baaaaad things start to happen. PETER AND THE VAMPIRES (Volume One) is currently free on Amazon.
The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural...
I was always a fan of the red kryptonite episodes of Smallville and this particular story is just as good [if not better than] some of those. After a particularly grueling day at school, Peter finds himself wishing to be a darker version of himself. And that darker version emerges from The Dark Place with, ultimately, one goal; take over Peter's life permanently!
I liked this book a lot because in it Peter learns to accept himself, even the bad parts. It also shows strong friendship (the not-letting-each-other-get-killed-by-evil-gingerbread-men kind). Anyway, I just find that Darren Pillsbury writes with humor, something I am finding hard. I really like all his books. I recommend them if you are like me: if you don't mind staying up late reading these kinds of books and watching mildly scary movies.
SPOILER ALERT:
New Character! Yeah! I'm glad Gwen joined the group. It was getting frustrating that she had appeared before in Peter and the Carnival of Evil but didn't know anything, even after her soul was sucked out of her body and trapped in a mirror.
