Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn't know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her...sort of.

Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

As the body count rises in their wake, Nathan introduces Kris to a world in which not everyone is human and the battle lines between good and evil are clearly drawn. Kris's piece in the puzzle is something neither is aware of and, as they uncover the truth, neither is prepared for what they find. Overcoming twists and revelations that shatter both of their lives, they discover that nothing is as it seems and nothing, least of all their hearts, are safe.

From debut author, Desni Dantone, Ignited is the first novel in a tale of first love, mystery and adventure that will introduce you to an exciting new world as Kris discovers how she fits in it.

I live in the quiet, middle-of-nowhere Everett, Pennsylvania with my three boys.

I've been writing since I was eleven, after I swiped one of my mom's Dean Koontz books. I still remember the first one I read; it was called Darkfall, and kept me awake most of the night. Anyway, I was totally inspired when I learned that he came from the small rural town I called home (true story, I swear!), and started writing freaky little horror stories because I wanted to be just like him. I gave the stories to my mom to read. I don't think she was as impressed as I was, but she put on an encouraging face...and that was how my writing obsession started.

After years of writing for a hobby and taking creative writing courses, I've published my first novel, Ignited. My dream is for Dean Koontz to no longer be the only bestselling author from my little middle-of-nowhere hometown.

This was really, really good. And the author did an exceptional job with the editing. The first chapter of this book is on the Goodreads page, and I'd urge you to read it. A self published gem.

There's action and excitement throughout, and Ms. Dantone plays her cards very close to her chest, not allowing the reader to know everything that's going on until the end. And I doubt that anyone will predict what's coming.

Kris is a fantastic character who I took to straight away. She's the sole survivor of a recent car accident in which her three friends died, and therefore, getting a lot of unwanted attention around school. So, when I first met her, under these circumstances, she came across as quiet and shy. But once she's on the run with Nathan, her saviour, many times over, her true colours began to show and she was a lot more outgoing, snarky and sarcastic. And the dialogue and relationship between these two was really enjoyable. Reminding me of how I felt about the relationship between Penryn and Raafe in Angelfall by Susan Ee.

I'm dying to get my hands on the next book. If you enjoy PNR at all, I think you'll enjoy this one. I LOVED IT!!!

If there is one kind of romance I really love, it’s the protector-charge, mentor-novice type. You know, the kind where the hero falls in love with the girl he is sworn to protect (and under no circumstances fall for). Or the combat instructor who falls for his pupil a la Dimitri and Rose (Vampire Academy).

It’s the buried/forbidden feelings, the banter, the antagonism, the trying to remain professional but secretly falling in love. It is the old love/hate relationship. Gets me every time – Angelfall, the Fever Series, the Night Huntress series, Poison Princess, the Premonition series – there is a reason all my favourite books/series share a love/hate relationship.

In my roundabout way, this is me trying to explain one of the many reasons I am now crushing on Desni Dantone. She knows how to write a good love/hate, slow burn, mature, delightfully antagonistic romance.

She also knows how to deliver a heroine who did not make me want to set my kindle on fire in frustration. Not once. Everything Kris did, said or thought, I was on board with. It made sense. She speaks her mind, she doesn’t accept everything she is told; she measures it all up first. She wants answers but she doesn’t demand them every 2 seconds. She doesn’t expect to be coddled. She doesn’t overthink every single little thing. She doesn’t obsess on how ‘kissable’ her crush's lips are. She doesn't run from her feelings or from her problems. She is perfectly deserving of a book written solely from her POV.

I won’t say too much about Nathan, our resident ‘hot but caring jerk’ (think Aiden from JLA’s Covenant series), except that he is hot. And jerky. But super sweet too ;). As is [SPOILSSS], only in a much more... ornery and brazen kind of way.

The premise of the series is SO promising. I know, just know, that Dantone has something amazing in the works here and I can’t wait to find out what. It’s simple Greek mythology. Kind of. Basically, there is a war between Poseidon and Zeus’ descendents (the ‘good’ guys) and Hades’ descendants (the ‘bad’ guys). Only the good guys aren’t behaving so good, and the bad guys, they aren't all evil. And our heroine... she's the anomaly. The possible decider in the war. If only both sides weren't trying to kill her...

My final praise - Dantone is a great storyteller. There is no meaningless dialogue; no pointless thought sequences; no wasted words. I didn't skim a single sentence.

Thank you to Suzanne for recommending this incredible read to me!

1/5; 1 star; DNF

This book had the potential in terms of world building to be a pretty good UF/PNR YA story. I enjoy YA stories where the youth and enthusiasm of the main characters brings a lot to the adventure. In this book, I made it through about 3 hours of the audiobook before giving up. The story kept getting lost in the inner dialogue of a crushing, drooling teenaged girl. Ugh.

Overall, this is a solid paranormal with plenty of action and teenage drama. There were a few twists and turns to the plot that while I could totally see them coming, were still enjoyable. There were repeated scenes, at times, which I found disconcerting but overall a great start to a series.

My Rating: 4 stars

The book is beautifully written very descriptive it makes you feel as though you are there with Nathan and Kris, walking through the woods at the cabin.

I speak fluent Greek living in Greece since 10 and being Married to a Greek, i kinda caught on the skotadi would be something to do with Hades. The storyline is compelling trying to discern anything is like waiting for an egg to boil though it takes forever.

I wouldn't call it a love triangle as such as i only really feel the chemistry between Nathan and Kris rather than her and Alec, i mean she's been in love with the dude since before she can remember, the fact she even feels anything for Alec questions that.

Kinda guessed what Kris was, why the skotadi tried killing her is beyond me though, and where is gran does anyone care Alec went to her house to pick up clothes.... first thing i would do is ask.

But it was very good, definitely young adult, i'm mulling over whether to buy the rest of the series as i love the Greek aspect but i fear it may be a little to young adult for me.

She’s had dreams of a handsome young man saving her, she even “knows” she has seen him in the flesh before, long ago, but nothing prepared seventeen year old Kris when the mysterious Nathan shows up in her life and this time he stays. Her lifelong hero has come to life, to her rescue, once again, but his demeanor is less than angelic.

A “normal” teen, Kris is more than shocked when the hot guy in school befriends her. Alec is all brightness and sunshine in a world that hasn’t always been all that kind to Kris. Does he have an agenda that belies his actions? Only time will tell when a quiet outing with Alec becomes a battleground of good versus evil as Nathan shows up and Kris becomes the prize.
Kris’ world implodes around her as she learns of a world of angelic beings who are part human and her part in this world is far greater than either she or Nathan know.

Ignited by Desni Dantone is the first in a series that proves to take young adult paranormal down a new path, devised by her own words. Kris is not a superhero, she is a girl, with a mouth that holds nothing back. What she does discover is there is more to her than she knew, but the learning curve will have deadly twists along the way. The dialogue between the dark Nathan and Kris runs between harsh and terse to warm and sometimes even funny. Nathan is not your normal hero. Sure he has power, strength and a long history behind him, but he is definitely holding his past close to the vest. Our golden boy, Mr. Warm and Fuzzy, Alec, is like a chameleon, or maybe a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or is he a sheep in wolf’s clothing with sheep clothing on top?

Ms. Dantone writes with a firm hand, weaving twists and tangle along the way, feeding out just enough information to set that hook of interest and make being able to NOT turn that next page impossible! I was a goner after page one. There is innocence, danger, revelations and loss in this Young Adult Tale that fuels the mind with a touch of reality and a dab of the “what if!”

First of all, a disclaimer. I did NOT enjoy this book. I finished it because I didn't feel like adding another DNF to my bookpile. If you (wrote or) liked the book, good for you! Isn't it awesome that we all have different opinions? YAY for individuality! You might not want to read my thoughts on the book, however.
If you haven't read it, you might also want to steer clear. I have spoiler tagged the biggest ones, BUT there are still spoilers here.

Onwards - to the review! Here we go:
Mutilated Greek mythology? Check!
"Best friend" only there as plot device? Check!
Thin plot mostly consisting of hormonal teen girl swooning over man? Check!
The obligatory love triangle? Check!
Bechdel test fail, in a spectacular way? Check.
Factual mistakes en masse? Check!
Mary Sue main character who keeps cementing gender roles Checketicheck.

Seriously. This checklist of things-I-did-not-enjoy would be too long.
To sum it up, this book is the stilted story of a hormonal teen with poor taste in men and a penchant for surrounding herself with characters like the outgoing and more experienced BFF who is available for plot development but nothing else, the family and friends, added for sad backstory and "depth", the bitchy rival woman who is inferior to our speshul snowflake Kris (took me WAY too long to remember what her name was, btw) and - of course - the "other guy". She constantly finds herself in clichéed situations meant to (develop? and) show some sort of sexual tension between her and the main male character.
Then there are lines like these: "he turned his lips inward". He... what?! HOW?!
Or how about this: "He pinched my lips together with his thumb and index finger, silencing me". Did you find that hella sexy?! Me neither. Laughable? Yes.
My favourite might be this one, though: "Sometimes I hated being so perceptive". /The most clueless girl in the history of histories. I laughed out loud at that one. For quite some time!

This book had a solid idea, and I don't wish to hurt anyone's feelings, but it was just NOT enjoyable, for me.

* This is a review of the audio book.

This book wasn't for me. The beginning was very interesting and I could stand the love triangle, but after about 3 hours of listening to the audio book I couldn't stand Kris's whining. I understand that the situation was hard and that a lot of things were hitting the metaphorical fan, but is it too much to ask to only be told what was going on instead of having to go through an hour of whining every time something went bad?

I also had a problem with Nathen. Before everything clicked into place I was on his side of the love triangle, but by the end of it all I had 'Twilight' flashbacks of Jacob and Renesmee and my stomach started churning. No offence to anyone who loves Twilight because I have read the books and it was that book series that got me into reading vampire and werewolf romances, but with all the books I've read since then I realize that there are much better books out there.

Alec was presented as a possible boyfriend, then suddenly he turns out to be an enemy, but he becomes a friend again by the end of it all... He was just all over the place and his motive, when asked why he was helping, was 'because I like you'. You're telling me that you'd risk your life for someone you met a week ago? How does that sound plausible?

So this review turned out to be a lot more ranting, than actual reviewing. To conclude, I can't recommend this book because of all the whining. Having said all that, I will probably start the next book out of pure curiosity because of the mild cliffhanger.

I can't believe this was a debut. This book was fantastic and very well written. I was immediately drawn into the characters and could not put this book down. I messed up and started this book at 10 pm, don't be like me, start reading this at a reasonable hour.

The characters were well developed and they were very great together. I loved their dynamic especially since they were in such insane situations. I love how well the author wrote gray area into good vs evil. Let's be hones this is not always so cookie cutter and black and white. It is not always good vs evil, often both sides have something you understand. You know gray area.
I will read the next installment but you should do yourself a favor and go read this one... like now.

What a action packed beginning to a series that I think I am gonna really enjoy. I love the back story about the Kala & Skotadi. The characters were fun and I really liked them. There are still a lot of questions and I am gonna enjoy finding the answers. I am definitely reading more of the series in the near future.

I really liked this book! I thought Kris was very relatable and handled her situations throughout the book in a very realistic way. She was fierce and loyal but not always smart...which kept her in interesting predicaments. Ignited held my attention the whole way through. I appreciated the unique take on the war between the Greek gods.

Her relationship with her guardian, Nathan was a very tense and sometimes confusing one. I found myself frustrated that he wasn't more forthcoming with her, and even after they have a revelation later on in the book, I still thought there should have been more discussion of his feelings. On the other hand, I really liked Alec's role. He kept me laughing out loud, and I can't wait to see more of him in the next book. The enemies in Ignited are certainly intriguing. I definitely want to know more about the different warriors and would even love to read the story from their point of view.

All in all, this is a solid read with lots of adventure, action and Greek mythology.

Oh dear. Where to begin? Well, I really can't get behind books like this anymore. I really enjoy the plots and environments that tend to come out of good YA, but I felt like the plot in this book was secondary to the romance -- and a lot of plot points seemed contrived to push the protagonist and her love interest together. Instead of having external forces pushing them apart (which probably would have been more interesting), the two characters essentially spend the whole book together and just second-guess themselves about whether or not they should be together. I understand that conflicted internal dialogue does capture the experience of being a teenager...but at a certain point, I just thought, "But why does this need to be supernatural?" I think that whole aspect of the plot could have been removed and replaced with some other contrived reason for why this teenager spends weeks alone with a guy in the woods. Plus there is a really uncomfortable power dynamic between Kris and her love interest(s) that should not be held up as an example of a good relationship.

Enjoyable and entertaining. Though by the end of the book I wanted to take my shoe off and BEAT Kris over the head. Seriously. How many times does the girl have to turn into a weeping mess. It felt like at every turn, the girl would survive the latest crap of her life pretty darn well and then ruin it all with big fat stinking tears!
SUCK IT UP WOMAN! it's embarrassing.

OUTSIDE of the pathetic sobbing at every turn, the rest of the story was very interesting. A page turner that kind of sneaks up on you. You don't realize it until it's n AM in the flipping morning, you have to wake up in less than three hours to start your day and you still say 'okay ... one more chapter, THEN I'll go to bed' for the umpteenth dozen time before you say 'screw it', load up on the coffee and pull an all nighter just to finish the book in one go.

didn't see the dg angle coming and thought it a bit strange and weirdly put together with the whole good/bad greek angle but turned out to be a good one.

Definite Recommend.

Quintessential "teen-ish" read with all the right ingredients:

1. A delicious, electrifying love triangle
2. Unique take on Greek mythology
3. Action, adventure, & mystery
4. Fast-paced & descriptive
5. Exciting twists
6. Sex free

Ok, so IGNITED is most likely not going to be the next best YA-PNR. You WILL come across some very predictable, and cliché scenarios. By no means would I consider this book my new favorite. The whole aging process kind of tripped me up, and I thought I’d be disgusted, or grossed out, or totally uncomfortable w/ the situation, but I wasn’t. That was HUGE.

Take-away point: this book was TOTALLY AWESOME & my inner TWEEN just couldn’t stop swooning over Nathan. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for book #2; if you liked the ARCHERS OF AVALON series, I would highly recommend this book! Two thumbs way up.

Hmm I'm not really sure what amount of starts to give this book, it was good and different, being that the love interest for our female protagonist has been saving her life since she was around 3years old. What I didn't enjoy was that while she was on the run, in danger, with her whole life thrown up in the air, was her constant swooning over a guy. Perhaps the reason he isn't into you is that you're acting like a love sick puppy with no regard for your well being. But it has demi gods in it, and I'm a total sucker for most things involving the Greek mythologies :) so I give it a 3, because I did like it, I'm just fed up of swoony girls that are all or nothing with the men fighting to save their lives.

What can i say, this could have been just condensed down to a few chapters and been the beginning of a story but obviously the writer wants to do a series so has filled it with not one love interest but two and has not pulled it off. Apart from the dreadful love story the thing i hated the most was the constant refusal to give the full in formation to Kris it drove me nuts just tell the girl the full story and get it over with. Also show me a 3 year old who knows and understand what a guardian angle is.

I felt that it was a bit shallow for my taste and lacked a lot of details. I found it weird that Kris seemed so cool about everything and the whole love triangle thing didn't really do anything for me. Also found it concerning that Callie jumped in with them without even asking anything but it did kept me interested enough to finish the whole book. I won't be reading the second one though.

Ignited Book #1
By Desnie Dantone.

Absolutely awesome! Desnie Dantone again blows you away with her fabulous writing style, expressive and addictive imagination.

She is truly an amazing author and I suggest if you haven't tried her books it's a must!

I first got caught on her "Tagged" Series based in apocalyptic times with some swoon-worthy down right cocky characters.

"Ignited" Is hands down bloody brilliant! We see great and very likable main characters "Kris" She is easy to like, interesting to follow & relate to.
Nathan Which really is the second main character again is likable.
I would love to have seen things from His point of view? I felt that really was my only pet peeve, maybe a chapter or two from Nathan was needed? It would have given us an idea of what was going on inside his head. But it's only a small pet peeve,
The storyline is brilliant, I can't say much without giving anything away. But it's based on Good vs Evil. Lots of action, Running for your life. secrets to be uncovered, some good teen drama with boys. ( Wink Wink )
Just read it!!!

There is a love triangle, but it's not a terrible one. It's very subtle and slowly picks up towards the end, So even if you don't like Love Triangles, this is still worth reading as it's so subtle that it's not unlikeable. ( I hope you get my meaning )

There isn't really a cliffhanger either but it's left wide open for "Sacrificed" Book#2. Which I can tell you all, I am flying onto immediately.

This book was sooooo Good... That I read it in a day! My housework didn't happen and well actually nothing did, as soon as I started reading this that was it.

Highly recommend reading this. Superb.

I was pulled right into the story with its increasingly surmounting unanswered questions. At several points during the book, I was worried that too many questions were piling up. There are so many loose ends to be tied up and I was sincerely worried that there are too many coincidences to be believable. But Ms. Dantone came through with a mega-whopper at the end, which made it all worth-while.

I’m happy to say that I was rewarded for my patience. Many – if not nearly all – of my questions were answered. Many of the presumed coincidences also turned out not to be coincidences, which was a relief.

Considering this is the first book in a trilogy, I have great hopes that my still outstanding questions will be answered in due course and that loose ends will be tied up.

I will discuss some of the concerns that I have and questions left unanswered below:

(BEWARE: SPOILERS!)

It is too much of a coincidence that out of the 7 billion people on the earth, it just happened – by chance – that the super-hybrid was chosen as a random human to be saved. Was it a coincidence? I hope further development of the story proves it not to be.

I also had a few problems swallowing the believability of our protagonist’s actions.

Unconvincing was – to me – how long Kris is willing to wait for answers that she knows Nathan has. She keeps retreating to the argument that she won’t get any more answers out of him tonight, so she just gives up. The questions are too pressing to go one more week, night, hour, or even one more minute.

I understand the author wants to build up the suspense with a flurry of unanswered questions, which will be revealed in good time (or all at once in a banger finale) – and I absolutely love stories like that. The Harry Potter books are developed brilliantly in this manner. Every answer to an unanswered question reveals several more unanswered questions, all of which are interconnected, and then are finally revealed in a mind-blowing climax.

In the case of the Harry Potter mysteries, Harry runs into a brick wall in his search for answers, so we, the readers, run into a brick wall too. Harry doesn’t know where to get the answers to his questions, so the search continues.

The difference in “Ignited” is that Kris knows that Nathan has many of the answers she is looking for – urgent questions pertaining to life and death issues, but she is simply willing to wait for the answers because… why? I’m not sure. Because she is scared of Nathan? So that the reader is not offered too much at once? It seems to me like an artificially implanted tool used to create suspense, but which doesn’t come naturally out of the story line.

Considering that Nathan could be killed at any moment, and that he is almost killed multiple times, it is unbelievable that Kris would put off pressing him for answers for even one more moment. It is understandable that he can’t or won’t answer her questions while they are running for their lives, or fighting off danger, but during the many, many hours that they are simply walking, or hiding out in the cabin, it is unconvincing that Kris doesn’t make a full-fledged effort to pry out of Nathan the answers to questions that are of existential pertinence to her life. Who is she? Who is trying to kill her? Why are they trying to kill her? Who is she to Nathan? Who is Nathan? Why is he constantly trying to protect her? Kris asks Nathan each question once. He refuses to answer or gives a partial answer. She doesn’t ask again (until much later in the story).

Similarly, after Kris reconnects with Alec, he tells her straight off that he has answers she is looking for – but he will tell her tomorrow. So she climbs into bed with Nathan. Huh? I had to do a double take. I reread the passage several times to be sure that I really understood it right. She doesn’t demand answers? She gives Alec a bunch of information he is looking for, but is perfectly happy to wait until morning until he answers hers? These are not small questions. People are trying to kill her left and right! Even the people she has been led to believe are on her side are trying to kill her!!! The way things are going for her, they could be attacked again and Alec could be dead by morning. She should be demanding answers immediately!

It bothered me as well that Kris doesn’t ask Alec and Callie what happened to Gran. When we learn that Alec and Callie have been at Kris’s house to get clothes and toiletries for her, the first question that I as a reader asked was: Did you see Gran? Was she alright? If Gran wasn’t there, did it look like she had been there recently? Did the house look like it did the night Kris left (trashed after a battle), or was it cleaned up? Were there any signs that Gran was still alive? But, alas, the book ends without any clarification as to Gran’s fate whatsoever. We assume that she died, but we don’t know for sure. After living with Gran for six years, it just seems unbelievable that Kris would not even care enough to ask.

And why would Kris simply take Nathan’s word for it that the Kala are good and the Skotadi are bad? Alec just saved her life and the Kala tried to kill her! Isn’t that cause enough for a reevaluation of Nathan’s interpretation of good and evil?

I was torn between giving this book 3 or 4 stars – I reserve 4 stars for books I really love and 5 stars for books that blow my mind. Since I breezed through this story without a moment’s hesitation, and since it kept my interest throughout, I will give it a 3.5 star rating and hope that the trilogy continues to keep my interest and answer my questions.

**I'd like to thank author Desni Dantone for providing me with a copy of Ignited exchange for an honest review**

Ignited, Desni Dantone's debut novel is a fierce, heart pounding, heart racing read full of action, danger and just the perfect hint of romance woven together with all the mystery, tension and excitement a girl could want!

Ignited was an unexpected delight! Initially I only began reading this book because I was caught out and about without my normal read. So….I decided to read a few pages of this on my phone to pass the time. Flash forward sixteen chapters later and I didn’t want to put this book down. Next day I was finished and absolutely in love.

My goodness did I love this book! I don’t mean to sound so surprised but Ignited in no way reads like a lot of self published novels. Perfectly told and paced, this book is catching from the very beginning and tells a really exciting story. I really liked the story author Desni Dantone has woven together. There’s a mysterious element that surrounds just what is going on it the story; what the characters are and what their history is and this remains unknown for a fair part of the novel.

Focusing on Kris Young, a seventeen year old girl who recently went through a tragedy and Nathan the dark and mysterious man who has been protecting and saving her since she was a child, and yet who hasn't aged a day, Ignited is filled with fantastic characters, especially in the form of Kris and Nathan and picks up quickly, taking you straight into a story that’s easily addictive.

Admittedly, I did see some similarities between Ignited and other novels I’d previously read, most notably Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead where certain situations were concerned and relationships between some of the characters, but I don’t feel like this overly detracted from the story. The mythology within Ignited also proves to be fairly unique--I'm very interested in seeing it explored more in future books.

I don't want to give away any spoilers but when Nathan and Kris are thrown together and forced to run, they're bombarded with one issue after another, rising the stakes and the tension and soon even the smallest, simple, mundane moments shared between them prove to be brilliantly addictive.

I seriously loved Kris. In the beginning of Ignited she starts out slightly fragile and vulnerable, but as the book progresses she manages to find her feet and takes everything in stride. She's extremely likable and I like the sass Nathan manages to bring out in her. Oddly enough, Nathan's attitude manages to spur Kris on and her desire to prove herself to him manages to make her all that much stronger.

One of the highlights of the book for me was the chemistry that sizzles between Kris and Nathan from the beginning. The sexual tension that radiates between these two as they fight and bicker and banter back and forth is electric. The thing I liked about them was that their relationship was in the form of a slow gradual build that went from them being strangers to in a reluctant mentor/ trainee relationship to friends.

Nathan is so sexy--my favorite kind of male; strong, fierce, determined and protective. He and Kris slowly come to care about each other, though Nathan is reluctant to admit it. These two are awesome to read about. I love that their relationship wasn't instant and yet you knew something was going to develop. It's obviously they have their fair share of hurdles to face, especially in the form of Alec, but I'm definitely vying for them!

There are quite a few story developments towards the end of Ignited that left me hanging out for the next book. After reading Desni Dantone's debut novel, I'm excited where she'll take Kris and the gang next and highly recommend you adding Ignited to your TBR list!

I really wanted to like this book because the blurb really intrigued me but unfortunately I didn't love it as much I thought I would. But that doesn't mean I absolutely hated it because it had quite a few interesting aspects and I did enjoy reading this book.

Kris was living a pretty normal life until one day she was suddenly attacked and then she had to flee with a complete stranger. But this stranger was not at all a strange to her, she realises this person is not just someone she sees in her dreams, but is an actual person who saved her life a couple of times when she was in dire need. She is thrown into a completely new world which she didn't know existed and there are people who are trying to kill her. And when she finally gets to learn the shocking truth about herself, what decesion will she take?

This book was pretty good and I quite enjoyed it but it the plot was nothing new. It was the same- girl learning she’s not living in a world she knows, meeting two gorgeous guys who undoubtedly fall for her and her decision what she wants to do with her life. Frankly, this book was quite predictable. Nonetheless, I liked how the concept of Greek mythology was fused in this book. I also like the concept of Kala and Skotadi, the former being the good and the later evil and how in some cases they didn't have the power to choose which team they wanted.

Kris was an okay protagonist. She was smart and strong but I couldn't connect with any the characters much. I just didn't care. :-( Nathan was the mysterious guy who had been keeping track of Kris for a really long time and is the knight in shining armour for Kris. But when Kris was clearly, already into the supernatural mess, I don't know why he took such a long time to explain everything to her. Also I didn't understand why he didn't want to act upon his feelings when it was clearly mutual. *sighs* I don't understand this guy. He was making everything complicated by choice. Alec was a funny guy, I liked his sense of humour. Though I'm still not 100% certain what to feel about him. It's pretty much clear that there's a love triangle, although it was not much emphasised in this book. But I certainly loved Callie, Kris's best friend, she was definitely my favourite character. I loved her loyalty and love for Kris and how she didn't give up on her when she went missing.

Overall, Ignited was an okay read for me. The plot was predictable and I couldn't connect with the characters much but nonetheless I enjoyed quite a few aspects of this book. The writing was simple and sometimes witty and it was fast paced throughout the book. I do want to know what happened next but I'm not in a hurry to do so.

Recommend it?

Maybe. If you like love triangles, you should give it a try.

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
THEME: Mythology
RECEIVED: Author
BLOG: http://seeingnight.blogspot.com/

REVIEW:
I can’t really express how much I loved this new series without sounding like a squealing little schoolgirl, but I was totally surprised by how much I was hooked into this book. This paranormal romance has two characters that you will love and root for all the way to the end.

Ignited follows Kris Young, a teen that is trying to recover from a tragic accident where she was the only survivor. Once again her mysterious “guardian angel” Nathan, saved her from danger and adds to the many questions about who he is. Her life seems to be getting back to normal once the new boy in school befriends her, but he too is a big mystery. When her guardian Nathan steps in and fights off some scary strong people that are after her, she learns her life is anything but normal.

Kris is a girl who has seen and lived through a lot of tragedy and she’s always known that there was someone protecting her from harm, but never knew why. When she finds out she’s in the middle of a war between good and evil, the only one she trusts is Nathan, her savor. But he isn’t all she thought he’d be, Kris wants answers and she’ll fight for the truth. I loved how much spunk Kris has and of course doesn’t back down for anything. Her friendship with her best friend Callie adds some much needed humor to the darker bits of the story. Along with the flirtatious Alec and new boy in town, who is not all he pretends to be. Kris is a strong character that has a lot to learn about this new world and herself.

Nathan is a man of few words but very devoted to protecting Kris at all cost. Nathan is the one to keep her save, the banter and chemistry between these two is what made me love this story even more. She is bombarded with surprise after surprise the longer she and Nathan are together, they both discover that there are many secrets in their lives. I loved this guy, he did frustrate me at times with not telling Krisy everything but I understood the reason. Every scene that they are in together is full of suspense, humor, banter, and adding questions to the bigger picture that is hidden from Kris.

Overall this is one heck of a great story, the plot is creatively constructed, giving away pieces at a time so that the readers discover the truth along with Kris. I was surprised on the paranormal aspect of the story, I for one thought this was about vampires but was thankfully was wrong. There is a lot of mythology intertwined with some great backstory. It’s none stop action, mystery, romance, and shocking twist and turns, I never wanted it to end. I can’t wait to see where Kris and Nathan go next and what dangers they are going to have to fight to get answers.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that will leave you wanting more. Fans of Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux series and Jennifer Estep’s Mythos Academy series will love Ignited by Desni Dantone.

This book reminded me of Hush Hush. It's such amateur writing with an equally amateur storyline and storytelling ability. Generic characters to the extreme. Everything about the way this book is written is so unoriginal. I only made it to page 35. It honestly felt like a robot computer "read" a bunch of the lame ya novels out there and then "wrote" this book. Like a computer generated novel. There was no life infused into the characters. No personality. Also, It's written in a very explainy way. For example, two characters are having a conversation, but the author "stops" the conversation after every sentence to explain the reason behind the conversation or the background story pertaining to certain people. It takes me out of the story when a book is written this way. Just let the actual story do the story telling. Weave a tale that captures my attention, not by giving me a detailed explanation about everything that's happened and who everyone is and every detail of their personality right when the story begins, but by giving us small pieces of the background story and the different characters throughout the whole book. Build the whole story in layers. Kris, the lead female is so incredibly dull. Seriously, computer generated type dull. She says and does nothing interesting ever. There's this mysterious guy that has randomly saved her life a few times. She's never been able to talk to him or see him ever besides those isolated instances. So she has always wondered about him her whole life. So when she finally is in a car with him, able to talk to him and stuff, what does she do? Oh, she monologues about how tongue tied she is and how she can't even ask all the questions she's dying to ask. So she doesn't. She doesn't say anything at all to him save to answer one question he asks. Whaaaaa???? Why???? Why do authors do this? I can literally think of like 100 different things that could go on while they are inside this car together, but the authors brilliant idea is for her main character to say NOtHING???? Why? What is gained by this other than to prove what an Imbecile Kris is. Can the author really not imagine anything for her character to say to this guy? If not why is she writing a novel? I mean, for starters why isn't Kris completely baffled about the situation she's in with this stranger? I'd be asking what in the hell was going on! Crazy things have happened and are happening with this stranger. But Kris acts like all this is just a little out of the ordinary but nothing to really be completely freaking out over. Which is how I'd react if a random guy had been saving my life, never aging, etc. I'd be freaking out and grilling him about what in the world was happening and who he was and stuff. But nope. This girl seems brain dead. Like she's thick headed or something. Anyways. This book was incredibly dull, robotic, unoriginal, uninteresting, boring, lifeless, emotionless.

Kris has moved around from foster home to foster home, having nothing but the hope of seeing her mystery man who shows up at time when she really needs him. When Kris is 17, he comes back into her life and all hell breaks loose. Kris is on the run from people who are trying to kill her and she has no idea why. All she can do is trust the mystery man who has saved her life when she needed him most.

I went into this book unsure of what I was getting so I was definitely surprised by what I received. I was pleasantly surprised by the direction the story took because the first few chapters felt like a teen drama. Once that was over, it was a supernatural survival book filled with a never ending battle between good and evil based on the Greek mythology and demigods, kind of like a more grown-up version of the Percy Jackson books. It was a unique premise for a new series and I would classify this as a paranormal adventure/action story with a scoop of romance thrown in for flavor.

Kris was a strange character, at first a moody mess, then an insecure girl and then a warrior in training. I was not too sure about her at the start of the story, but by the end she was a more likable determined character. I was glad that she had to work at her training instead of just magically becoming a great fighter off the bat. There is a lot of mystery surrounding where she came from, what everyone wants her for and what kind of powers she will have and I am intrigued by what her role really is. She did spend a lot of time stuck in her own head having what-if conversations and no action, but overall she staid pretty strong.

The story sets up a very in your face love triangle, which to be honest about I am not thrilled with. I don't like love triangles pretty much at all and the angst that comes with them. Here we have a girl who has never had a boyfriend or any real interest, and along comes the most attractive and charming of new students who only has eyes for her, add in the strong protector/mentor who tries to be rough and unfeeling but would love nothing more but to give into his feelings. Add in the battle for good and evil and picking of a side, a dead love one who lives on in a memory and teen angst, and we have a hum-dinger of a potential love disaster. I can honestly say that I am not sure who I would want her to pick, both men have potential, and I am sure who she will end up with after everything, but I like both of the guys for different reasons.

I think this series has a lot of potential for more to come, and there are tons of questions that were brought up for me that never had an answer so I look forward to the next book. I was confused as to what part Kris' best friend had in the ending, but I guess some things are unexplainable.

I received this title in return for my honest review.

Ignited is the first book in the young adult fantasy and mythology series of the same name by Desni Dantone. This book was written in 2013 and there are 4 books out in the series so far. Actually, the fourth book comes out next month (March 2016) so now is the perfect time to read the first three and get ready. I don't often get a chance to go back and start a series this late in the game, unless it is one that has been on my radar for a very long time. I just found out about the Ignited series this year, and because I love mythology so much, I couldn't pass it up. And now I am obsessed with it. I am so freakin' happy that there are 3 more books already out that I can read because I really want to keep reading. There is a bit of a love triangle, but I am shipping one side of hard and I really, really want to see if it is going to work out for them or not. (it better work out!)

It is hard to explain the plot of Ignited without giving too much away, because the summary on goodreads is very cryptic. I wouldn't have even known it was mythology if I didn't see that so many people had shelved it as that. (but if you would like to spoil it for yourself, books 3 and 4 have spoilers as to what exactly the mythological elements are, so read at your own risk.) I don't want to spoil it for too many people, but you do know that there is some paranormal or magical element at play in the story, and you do know that there are the "good side" and the "bad side". Being the astute readers that you are, I also know that you know one side of the love triangle falls on the good side and one falls on the bad side. But both of the guys are great. I just happen to like Nathan a lot more than Alec. I may change my mind later on, but I doubt it at this point. (though it has been known to happen) Team Nathan all the way!

Ignited was action packed and the overall story was extremely well done. This book will suck you in and hold you captive for the entire time. I really like Desni Dantone's writing, and I really like her mixture of adventure and romance. I hope there is more of that to come in the future books.

Bottom line: If you love action adventure fantasy books, and you are a sucker for a good mythology romance like I am, the Ignited series is the perfect read for you. Grab book one. I dare you not to get sucked in and immediately want to read books 2, 3, and 4. I know I am itching to get my hands on them.

I loved this book! There was drama, love, hate and two handsome guys, one evil and one good, but I swear, considering their personalities, they were both on the wrong side!

I liked Alec to begin with, and still did all the way through the book and I hope that Nathan can find a way to help him as he tries to help Kris in the Epilogue.

I Highly Recommend this book to all adventure seeking teens!

You ever pick up (or in this day in age, come across a book on Goodreads, lol) that you just know is going to be good? You don't even finish reading the summary because something tells you that you're going to love it and you don't want the summary to give anything away. This was one of those books for me and it did not disappoint.

It was such a breath of fresh air and the exact change I needed!! I love a great romance novel, but they can get stale and repetitive and honestly, it's nice to read a book where the love story isn't at the forefront!!! There is definitely a love story brewing, and a love-triangle no less, but I think it's pretty obvious who she's meant to be with, so I'm not worried....yet, lol! There was a lot of crushing going on with Kris over Nathan, but since there was also so many other things going on aside from that, I don't think it took away from the story too much.

A very large portion of the book is spent with the main character, Kris, on the run for her life and we have no idea why. While this drove me absolutely bananas, I also loved it, because it was so nice not knowing what was going to happen or where the story would go. I think it's about 40% before we get any sort of answers on what is going on.

At about 85% a major bomb is dropped and I thought it was a fabulous twist! Stuff's gonna get really interesting in the following books!

The writing was pretty good, nothing cheesy, everything flowed really well. It was an overall enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to where the rest of this series will go!!
