Just-graduated David has been brightening up his gray Surrey, England days with the porn collection hidden in his parents' shed, but when he finds that their American foreign exchange student, Dawn, has discovered his magazines, things really begin to heat up.
David’s parents insist that he look for a job, but Dawn has the week off and is determined to work on her tan. Distracted David finds himself increasingly tempted by their seductive, older foreign exchange student, who makes it very clear what she wants.
In spite of the Study Abroad program’s policy that no “relations” are allowed between a student and anyone in their host family—not to mention David’s mother’s insistence that they treat each other as “brother and sister,”—Dawn’s teasing ways slowly break down the barrier between them until they both give in to their lust.
But what are they going to do about the feelings that have developed between them in the meantime?
Warnings: This title contains erotic situations, graphic language, anal sex, and makes mention of pornography, hammers, interesting uses for rubber bands, dungarees, bikinis, and lots of Britishisms you may or may not have to look up.
Note to readers: This story appeared in another, now rather infamous book of mine titled Naughty Bits. Yank, previously titled Foreign Exchange, is a slightly less naughty, but no less sexy re-telling of those events--updated and redressed for your reading pleasure.
Selena Kitt is a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling and award-winning author of erotic and romance fiction. She is one of the highest selling erotic writers in the business with over two million books sold!
Her writing embodies everything from the spicy to the scandalous, but watch out-this kitty also has sharp claws and her stories often include intriguing edges and twists that take readers to new, thought-provoking depths.
Her books EcoErotica (2009), The Real Mother Goose (2010) and Heidi and the Kaiser (2011) were all Epic Award Finalists. Her only gay male romance, Second Chance, won the Epic Award in Erotica in 2011. Her story, Connections, was one of the runners-up for the 2006 Rauxa Prize, given annually to an erotic short story of “exceptional literary quality.”
Holy Mother F-er, that was one of the most sex-filled books that I have ever read. Total porn without plot. No plot, none. However the sex was incredibly, incredibly hot. I'm going to need a cold shower here, folks!!
My opinions on this book are all over the place. For all of those who have read Naughty Bits, this is the re-worked, non-incest version. However, in the switch from incest to childhood friends, some details of the book stop making sense. First of all, they keep acting like their attraction to each other is forbidden when any teenage boy would be attracted to his hot foreign exchange student, who is completely unrelated to him. The forbidden aspect is no longer really applicable, which made large portions of this book seem silly.
This book is also jammed packed with Brit-speak that I had trouble understanding some of it. Words like "slag", "bint", "wobbly", "grass", "naff", "stroppy", "lashed", "welly"- I mean, your guess is as good as mine! It kind of put a stutter in my reading progress.
My last complaint? I never thought that I would say this but this book has too much sex. I actually found myself skimming the sex scenes towards the end. It was like I got desensitized to it after a while.
What was good about this book? Like I said before, it was sexy, raunchy, steaminess that made me, a seasoned erotica reader, blush. For those who love down and dirty books, this is a must read! For those who want a bit of substance, pass on this one.

I blame my brand new Kindle and the novelty of free books for having read this one. This is NOT something I otherwise would have picked out, and I admit to a healthy dose of embarrassment to think of this being in my reading list (shame overruled by OCD).
I prefer erotic romance over erotica, and this one sits in the latter. Still, I admit that it does its job - hence the three star rating. That said, if I had read this one in what I understand to have been its original form, it would have been a 1 star read. Thank goodness I found that out after I finished this one, or I would have been totally skeeved out. Explains a lot, though.
I will be unchecking the 'add to my update feed' box in the hope that no-one ever sees this review!
I will caution that this author isn't for everyone, because she really does like to write about more taboo topics. That being said, Yank was one that just didn't do it for me and not because of any taboo factor. The problem I had was that I felt that neither character had any good qualities, and they just plain irritated the crap out of me. Now don't get me wrong, the sex scenes were way hot. Selena is great at writing smut. I just didn't like the jumping around of partners with no concerns for safety at all. If you are looking for one steamy hot and very smutty read though, then this one would be a good choice.
Let me first off say Selena Kitt knows how to write a sex scene ..So, if you are looking for a quick read with lots of steamy, smutty, and hot moments then go read Yank.
From what I read, the story-line of Yank is related to her previous book Naughty Bits. I have never read Naughty Bits but from my understanding Yank is a little less naughty but still has the same steamy hot sex scenes.
Yank focus on David and Dawn. David, a Brit grew up with childhood friend Dawn, an American who is currently staying with David and his family while she is in her study abroad program in England. David soon finds himself attracted and being seduced by Dawn. He can no longer deny his sexual attraction to her and soon there are lots of steamy and hot moments between these two. What I really like about this book, is that it was all from David's POV. Its refreshing to hear the inner thoughts of a man and his struggle to keep his pants on while a hot woman is trying to have her ways with him. Selena Kitt did a great job in allowing readers to get a man's perspective during those sex scenes. The only problem that I had with the book was the ending. It felt so rushed and I felt Selena Kitt could have drawn it out a little more. Overall, I enjoy this quick read. I liked this book better than Hussy. I would rate this book a 3.5 Selena Kitt
First of all I have to make it clear that this book is definitely Erotica and NOT for anyone under the age of 18, probably 21... LOL. I'm going to hide my review in spoiler form in case someone younger wanders across it!
***4 Hot dirty Stars!!!*** Free copy received in exchange for an honest review
If you are in the mood for something short, steaming, smutty, hot characters and story to read… here it is.
I have never read Naughty Bits, started reading Yank after I got the copy and did so with an open mind. I'm never really big on short stories because I mostly feel that the story was rushed but surprisingly, this one was a pretty good read. A hot read, actually.
Selena Kitt didn't try to compress an entire novel into a short story. Unlike most short stories I've read. She wrote Yank straight to the point and it still worked for me. We were given a glimpse of the characters', Dawn and David, background and history together and it was written effectively without it being too lengthy for purpose.
It also helped that it was David's POV, and I always enjoy reading the male characters thoughts in my books. There's just something exciting about reading how a man thinks and feels especially if it's a sexy scene and Selena Kitt wrote David very well.
The chemistry of both characters is steaming and strong you can feel it.
There are no boring internal monologues or even parts of the book and it wasn't a slam-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of sex too. It's a satisfying story.
The ending sort of came out of nowhere for me. I mean , really? No matter how casual it was, I was just expecting a good ol' "I choose you and let's be together officially" thing over that. But then again, Dawn was keeping a "secret" and that's a surprise problem to be resolved although maybe I should've seen it coming.
However, it was a small thing considering I did enjoy the entire book and essentially, it was the ending I liked, so not much to complain. :)
I recommend this for a quick hot read, if you're in the mood for this kind!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Dawn, a foreign exchange student from America, is headed to Surrey for her studies, to stay with childhood friend David. His world becomes shaken up the moment she arrives back, because he's not the little girl that he remembers anymore, and it becomes increasingly more difficult for either of them to resist the temptation that lives only down the hall.
I wasn't so much a fan of this one, in compared to the other Selena Kitt story that I have read.
I didn't feel connected to the plot or the characters. I understand that this is a short story, and an erotic one at that, but there still has to be some level of interest in characters or the rest of the story breaks down. That's how I felt about this one.
The smutty scenes, as always however, are well written and full of blazing heat. If I could rate these separately, I would, because Selena Kitt is a great author when it comes to the x-rated scenes within her stories.
Selena Kitt is known for approaching more taboo subjects, which I found odd seeing that this book seemed relatively tame. True, her host mother insists that the two act like siblings, and the school has a "no relationships with the host family" rule, but that little detail didn't seem so rebellious to me. But then I started reading reviews of this book, and saw that in the original edition of this story, they were related. I very much hate to say that, but I think I would have preferred that they were. It would have added the missing depth to the characters, the plot, and the "taboo" factor.
This is a book intended for adults, so be aware that this book contains vulgar language, crass British slang, and graphic detail. Thanks to Netgalley and eXcessica Publishing for my copy. This review can also be found on my blog, Bitches n Prose.
Five stars as an erotic rating, 4 stars for overall plot line!
Incredibly erotic , smutty quick read written from the male POV , which is always nice for a change! David is a young man just 18 who also has just graduated from school and is home wishing he could just enjoy his summer instead of having to ind employment. Dawn is a Foriegn exchange student from. The United States who has been living with David's family for the past year, but she just not a visiting student she is one of David's friends from when they were young children. David is supposed to treat Dawn as a sister. Which up until this point has been working out just fine till Dawn changes the rules. Since Dawn changed the rules and started hitting on him, treating her as a sister has become very hard in more ways than one, and for poor David he is loosing the battle he is waging in his mind about not touching her and his body totally wins out! Over the balance of the rest of the book, thanks to David giving in the author gives you one incredible hot sex scenes and continues with the theme that the whole relationship is wrong because they are old friends nd his parents said to treat one another as bother and sister, which they are not! Eventually everything comes to a full boil and secrets Are exposed! I enjoyed the read but did expect a little more of an ending to the story then what you get felt a little rushed; however, well worth the read!
Dawn a twenty year old american exchange student and David the eighteen year old she thinks of as a brother. They have always love each other as brother and sister. But deep down they lust for one another. You just know this is going to get very interesting very fast and it does! Lots of hot sex in this one. Scenes that will excite and arouse you. Selena always write great stories and in my eyes this is one of the best! Love, jealousy and sex abound, bordering on incest. But David and Dawn are not really brother and sister so is it so wrong? The story is easy to read and the characters easy to love. A must for eotica fans!
Yank by Selena Kitt is almost pure smut. About every other page mentions sex. Dawn an exchange student from the US has diplomat parents stationed in Turkey. She grew up down the street from David and his proper English parents. She's 4 years older than David. David is out of school and his parents are pestering him to get a job. This story is all about Dawn deducing David. She teaches him all aspects of sex.
Dawn is an exchange student living with David and his parents. Dawn discovers his porn stash and begins seducing him. David keeps saying it's wrong as they are like brother and sister since they grew up together, but Dawn does not see it that way. Eventually both betray the other and they are caught. What happens now?
I liked this story. It was hot! I liked David and Dawn until they brought in others to mess with their relationship. It was like they wanted to hurt one another instead of being honest about their feelings and what to do about them. Jealousy, anger, hurt, and pain followed. The ending was too rushed. I would have liked them to sit down and talk it out (and not behind the gym.) I would have liked to see them make their relationship work to show their parents they were serious.
While this was not my favorite story, Ms. Kitt is a talented writer and one of my favorites. I look forward to reading more.
Selena Kitt knows what she's doing writing sex scenes. I mean, man! Pretty intense. However I do like some plot to support those scenes and this book was seriously lacking in that department. I found Dawn to be completely un-relateable, and manipulative. I also found David's reactions to things to be pretty unrealistic. He may have been a horny teenager, but I can't imagine he would have gone from a virgin to amazing in the sack after one encounter.
Overall if you're looking for some steamy sex scenes this is the book for you! If you want to actually like the characters that are involved in those scenes, I'd put this one in the 'pass' pile.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
3.75 I read this instead of the original because I couldn't deal with a blood sister and brother relationship- that's too much for me. Still, I kept thinking back on it while reading and it still blew my mind. This is nothing but pure unadulterated sex yall. Don't read this if you're looking for depth or character growth- you will get none of that lol. David and Dawn have sex all the time and even when seeing/ dating other people. Of course things happen but then the ending is rushed and I'm like that's it?! I wonder how the original ends but I don't have the guts to read that one. Kitt... her books are saucy AF and I am so here for it!!
I was in a book funk after reading a good book, and nothing I started reading would maintain my interest until I finally came across this book. You don’t have to think much, it’s exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to an erotic book and is well written as per usual. You can’t go wrong with a Selena Kitt book
I really tried. . .but this book just didn’t do anything for me. . .the story was poorly developed and the characters had no depth. It felt like a rough draft. . .Ms. Kitt’s stories typically entertain me, so I am sorry to have to give such a poor rating for this one.
This was very steamy. She was a year older than him and initiated their physical relationship. He was shocked but happy. She taught him how to please her. Basically, two teenage roommates fooling around when the parents are not home or asleep.
A very hot read as always. I'm not sure if this was the first of a series, but it felt a little unfinished. Selena is a great writer though, and it shines through again here.
So the reviewers got me curious on this one. Not from the raving reviews but from the apparently lack of story and the multiple steamy scenes. So, I thought, there was no way it was as bad as everyone was saying. I have yet to encounter a story like that so I said what the hell, it's only 160 pages, it won't take me long to read.
I was wrong!
Yeah, it's as bad as everyone says and it took me a little bit longer to read. I would have been able to get through it quicker but I just couldn't handle all the steamy scenes when my Fiancé is 500 miles away from me. And there were a lot of them! Ten+ steamy scenes, at least one or more sexual act happens in all ten chapters. So to say the least, this is one hot read and you better have a partner around to help you out haha.
Now for the lack of story, the author tried to write one but it just got lost with all the sex. That's all this book was, sex. Book porn, yep, you can definitely call this that. So, if you want book porn then check out Yank. But if you're hoping for a New Adult contemporary romance as the summary makes it feel, then you'll be surely disappointed.
In the beginning and the end the author tires to have a story and hope you're as connected to the characters as she is but you're not. You just can't get connected and the sex overpowered the storyline so it looks like there isn't one. I guess if you really think hard on it, maybe it was the authors way of showing us that this was how the characters were able to show their love for each other and come to realize they do love each other. But that's if you think hard on the storyline and try to make sense of it, because let's face it, it doesn't make sense.
And then the author tries to throw in an obstacle and yeah, it wasn't really an obstacle, it was more like dafuaq?! Why is that a big deal and why are you making it a big deal. Yeah, I understand why the parents made sure they had them think they're siblings because they didn't want them bumping each other through the night but for the main guy to actually have like that mental dilemma was just weird. They've known each other since they were kids, the dilemma could have been they didn't want to ruin their friendship. But like I said, none of this made sense and for the author to try to make it feel like a contemporary romance at the end with a heart felt scene was like "Really, now you want to try to make this into a storyline?"
Overall, don't read this if you want an amazing romance because you'll be quite unsatisfied. But if you're looking for a read that'll put a fire between your legs then you've come to the right place because only the sex scenes made sense out of all 160 pages. And sadly to say, that was 3/4th of the book. Just sex. That's all this was, was sex. But don't get me wrong, I like erotic, I write it but I also like my reads to have a story. And this was nothing more but a one night stand for us readers.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for this review.
Kitt's "Unfolding"Unfolding is the only other book I have read by this author, and that one was an unabashed, scorching eye-opener, let me tell you. "Yank" was much more conventional than that one for sure, but still sexy and yummy with plenty of hot scenes.
I was really looking forward to Yank because it's one of my all-time favorite set-ups: Virginal beta-hero gets schooled by experienced vixen. Plus it is written from David's POV, I loved that idea too.
David is an innocent, horny English 19 year old still living with his parents, stashing his porn in the shed. Dawn is an American exchange student who has lived with him and his family (is it every summer?)for years- They practically grew up together and Dawn is treated like a sister to him. She is also gorgeous, blonde, busty and flirty-- most of the book she is prancing around in a white string bikini, sucking on lollies and letting milk drip off her chin. You can do the math here.
I vacillated between 3 and 4 stars because I wasn't crazy about the heroine* (I was actually rooting for David to pick another girl towards the end) and the finale seemed abrupt. (An epilogue would have been good) Without giving anything away, I thought it would be more of a coming-of-age book in a more realistic way, I wasn't buying that Dawn was that much in love (lust, yes) with David, nor he with her, especially
*Now that I am thinking about it, I wonder if I would have had connected more with Dawn if her POV was included too? I'm not sure....
Also, the sexy scenes got a bit repetitious/predictable for me after the initial few. (yes there is plenty of naughty foolin' around, which I love) David holds out awhile, and they keep their budding relationship a secret from his parents--but what should have been delicious sexual tension fell a little flat for me. Dawn had too few tricks up her sleeve for my taste, honestly, and it is all pretty vanilla except for a little back-door action.
In all, a solid 3 stars, I enjoyed the book and hope to soon read more by this author.
I had written a long review and thought I had posted it; it seems to have been swallowed by the ether, so I'll try again and keep it shorter.
The difference between porn and erotica is all in the details. If a story's generic, the characters are cardboard cutouts, and the actions (which is to say, the sexy bits) flow purely in an And then I... and then he... format, it's porn. It's also crap. If the story involves characters who are struggling with real problems that aren't easily solved -- even with a roll in the hay, then that's actually a story, and if there's sex involved then it might even be erotic.
Selena Kitt's stories are pretty consistently erotic. Smutty fun, sometimes, but no cardboard cutouts in sight.
The premise for Yank starts out as pure porn corn: a young boy (David) who spends his days masturbating to porn magazines has the girl of his dreams all but literally step out of the pages of his favorite magazine. The twist here is that the girl -- who proceeds to initiate David into all of the joys of sex and love -- is his sort-of-sister Dawn. There's a sense of pushing up against the incest taboo that fills each encounter with a kind of queasy dread -- and adds a level of complexity throughout.
Is it sexy? Yup. Is there a lot of sexy? Yup
Is it brilliantly plotted and characterized? Well, not brilliantly, perhaps. Some of Dawn's actions seem forced -- even once her initial intention comes clear. And there's a point at which you want to smack David if he says "But you're like my sister!" one more time.
There's also a secondary character who gets built up just to the point of being interesting before she is left, literally waiting in bed -- never to be seen again.
Still, the ecounters between David and Dawn are truly hot, and the whole romp is fun. Definitely worth reading.
I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review..
o.k. i don't know where i rate this book. it is either a 3.5 or a 4. I have to say their really isn't much of a plot for this book. there is a lot of sex...
David just finished school and instead of spending his time having fun and finding himself he was told by his parents that he needs to get a job or they will kick him out of the house. Why would you think his parents did that? well, it is because of Dawn. She is a foreign exchange student. She is from the united states and is staying with them in the U.K. for studies abroad. This is not the first time that Dawn has been at their house. She grew up with this family and had asked to come back. now things are starting to be different because both kids are grown. David likes to spend his time out in the shed. in this shed he has his porn collection. the magazine of choice is called "YANK" the girl in this collection looks just like Dawn. so, of course on day Dawn starts pounding on the shed door. David doesn't know what to say, but Dawn has other things in mind. She will start to seduce him. David still being a virgin is both excited and afraid because she was like a sister to him. Dawn will know test the boundaries to see how far David will go before he brakes.
o.k. as you will find out Dawn will show David everything he needs to know about sex. they find themselves doing it all the time because they both like the thrill of getting caught. well, every good thing comes at a price... David and Dawn will test their jealously when they each start dating. this is kind of funny, but also dumb. one day when things will go sour and then true feelings will either come out or would never be there..
oh did i forget to say that 98% of this book is sex....
Normally I like these kinds of reads but "Yank" was, well, to put it bluntly...a clusterf*ck. I mean, seriously!! There was no real plot here and the characters were pretty annoying and lacked personality.
Dawn irritated me with her whinny, slut-like, and at times disrespectful behavior. And David, how weak of an individual can you be?! Man up dude!!
Sheesh. Such immature characters that don't really think before they do. I can't even begin to fathom how Dawn and even Julie didn't get pregnant after not using protection by the end of the book. Plus too, what's with the trying to make each other jealous by dating someone the other person doesn't like and having sex with those other individuals when you're still sleeping together? So dirty and disgusting.
Gosh, I am lost for words regarding this read. The whole book was a train wreck and I am actually a fan of Selena Kitt.
And what's with the rushed and abrupt ending? It was as if, it was slapped together with a random revelation and marriage proposal.
Ugh. I feel as if I wasted my time. I didn't see what the big deal was with David and Dawn seeing or sleeping together. I know that it mentioned that foreign exchange students couldn't have intimate relations with their hosts and that David and Dawn were supposed to act like brother and sister but I couldn't see the whole taboo on this so-called forbidden love/fling.
*sigh*, so disappointed...BUT HEY,on the bright side, the sex scenes were super steamy and I liked the whole prohibition of these two lovers. Sounds pretty contradicting to my entire review eh? Oh well! ;)
Received this book from author in exchange for an honest review.
Yank was a rather quick and very short book. The overall concept of this book felt flat for me.With that said, there really wasn't any plot in the story. It was full of steamy scenes that took over the majority if not all of the story. Although this book is under the erotic romance category, I would have thought it actually included a little bit more plot, but I was wrong. From the very beginning, we meet David, who is struggling to find a job and maintain a relationship with his parents. He often finds himself drawn to an older foreign exchange student, who happens to live in his house. Despite knowing Dawn for many years, he has come to love her as a sister, yet as they both grow he starts to develop feelings for her. It all seemed physical at first, but as they spend more time together they both discover that their feelings may not be all physical after all. The real question is whether they want to admit their feelings for each other or not. Like I mentioned before, the story felt flat for me, and although it was fast-paced I liked certain moments in the book. Both characters struggle to find where they belong and to accept their feelings. Hence the majority of the time they are running away from what they real feel and want. The story was well-written, but the only thing that it would have helped the story was the ending. It felt too rushed for my liking, but I would recommend everyone who likes these kind of stories to give this book a try.
This is the second book I have read by Selena Kitt and I’ve come to discover this author is definitely the queen of naughty books! FYI - This story touches on “taboo-ish” topics so please read the author’s description to judge for yourself whether this book is for you. As for me, I loved the first book I read by Ms. Kitt so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on another one and I was not disappointed!!
Yank follows the sexual escapades of David ~ an 18 year old guy from Surrey England and Dawn ~ the 20 year old American foreign-exchange student staying with him and his family. Now, during her stay, David and his family have been treating Dawn as a true member of their family but… it would be a very interesting story if it stayed that way… right? ☺
Have I mentioned yet that Selena Kitt can write some highly erotic naughty sex scenes? Well she can!! This book had all the great erotica-with-a-taboo-twist that I have come to expect from Ms. Kitt yet I also found this story to be somewhat funny. It’s mainly told from David’s POV and I found him to be angsty, sexually frustrated/obsessed and funny ~ a true teenage boy! He tried to control his feelings for Dawn and stop himself at different points but it was an uphill battle for him. I loved that this story had the guy trying to stop/slow things down when it always seems to be the other way around. This book was a fast read and while I would have liked a longer story, I still really enjoyed it! This one is definitely another great sexy story from Selena Kitt!
** I received this e-RRC in exchange for an honest review. **
So this is the "clean" version of Naughty Bits. I didn't read Naughty Bits, but I think I can see where changes were made to make it "clean"... they're not brother/sister. They aren't even step-siblings. They're simply kids who grew up together, so close they might have been siblings. But because there was no blood, or even the step relationship, the whole "we can't do this" fell flat. Why not? She's visiting, sure, but c'mon... your mom knows you're an 18-year-old boy. You're NOT going to look at the cute older girl...who is absolutely no relation to you but whose parents are friends with your parents?
Beyond that, it was hot. Ms. Kitt definitely writes some hot sex scenes. There's just something about "God, I love your cock" that is so sexy. So for that, it was a typically hot Selena Kitt story.
But the ending was weird, and I'm going to think it's because it probably had to be rewritten since the relationship of the people involved was different. But what happened just seemed so sudden. And her reasoning for doing it? Wow. That's some desperation. But then for him to just move forward? With really no anger at all at being used? Sure, ultimately it was something different, but initially. So it just didn't seem realistic and it was rushed.
The British "lingo" was interesting. I wonder, not being from England, how authentic it was.
I have not read the other version of this book Naughty Bits, but I do know that this version is meant to be tamer than the taboo version where they are siblings. The scenes in this book were definitely hot! This is the second book I have read by Selena Kitt and she definitely knows how to write steamy erotic sex scenes. The one thing that bothered me a bit when reading this story was that because this is a revised version of another book some of the tone was the same with David feeling that it was wrong to be sexually involved with Dawn. While I get that they were were childhood friends that sometimes acted like siblings the fact remained that they were not related. Yes, David parents had told him to treat her like a sister especially because she was staying with them as part of a student exchange program, but it did not seem wrong to me that the two of them were together at least not at the level that he was feeling and at a certain point that Dawn felt. I was more confused about the two of them seeing and being with other people when they were obviously very attracted to each other. Though that did result in some hot interaction between the two of them. Even given the part that was a little off for me I really enjoyed this story. At the end I wished that there was a little more because it was a quick ending, but I was satisfied with the conclusion. I plan to read a lot more from this author in the future.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a big fan of Selena Kitt. I've read quite a few of her books and have enjoyed each and every one. Yank, however, falls a little flat for me. Yes, this is erotica and I expect it to be full of sex of all kinds. I wasn't disappointed in this aspect, at all - the sex scenes are seriously hot. The story didn't make a lot of sense to me though. Why was it such a taboo for David and Dawn to be together? Although I know the guidelines for the study abroad program insist that they treat each other as brother and sister, the fact remains that they are not related. The taboo angle just doesn't work for me - sorry. Then the ending...really? Just like that there's a HEA for these 2? Sorry, but I can't buy that either. And quite honestly, I didn't much like either one of the characters in this one. Selena, I think you've spoiled me with your other work, which not only contain hot scenes but feature likeable characters (love Doc and Mrs. B!) with plots that work.
So, it pains me to do so but only 3 stars for this - and that's mainly for the steamy sex scenes.
I don't normally mind erotica/new adult. I felt, though, that this was very little story with a whole lot of literary porn. Didn't really love it and I've been one to enjoy erotica/new adult novels. Right from the get-go, we're launched into David wanking off to his porn collection. In what feels like 2 seconds later, he's passing second base with the foreign exchange student he's always viewed as an annoying older sister. David and Dawn start off rounding second base, quickly onto third and by a quarter of the book they've hit the ball out of the park. Then you throw in a couple of extra characters and there's interchanging of partners. There was very little story and little to no character development. There was just sex. A whole lot of sex. It was a setting change, sex, different location, sex, different time of day, sex. It got a bit tiring with all the sex scenes (did I just say that aloud!!?). I guess I just prefer a bit more story! Wasn't horrible, I got a bit bored at times and the ending was really sudden and, to me, ridiculous. Guess it just wasn't my cup o' tea...
