Learn to use the ultimate writing software: Scrivener. Allowing you to combine the various elements that make up your writing project, from outlines to research to note, Scrivener helped author Nicole Dionisio write two novels in a single year.

Our manual outlines how to use Scrivener to make your writing better, and is useful for writers of all stripes – which includes you.

It is 48 hours before your dissertation is due and, despite the chaos, you are trying to complete the final edits, because it’s the only choice you have.

There is one problem — and it isn’t the pile of unclean dishes housing sea-green mold and chatty-vermin that has become your sink — it is your computer and it is time. You should be going faster then this, you put your blood-shot pounding head in your hands and groan, “Why am I going so slow? This computer is brand new... what is the problem?”

It isn’t your computer’s specs. It is your writing process. It is because you have not yet started using Scrivener.

It is opening up a new webpage or PDF every 15 minutes to fact-check research. It is switching back and forth be- tween this research, your outline, your bibliography, and your draft. It is waiting for your files to load, bouncing be- tween them, and getting lost in the quantity of windows on your computer screen or document.

Scrivener has two key features: it loads all documents at once and it has many visual organizational tools. Scrivener has optimum productivity, thus it gives writers more time to actually write and accomplish their goals.

This manual outlines:
-Planning your manuscript
-Importing existing documents into Scrivener
-Collecting your notes
-Organizing files and documents within Scrivener
-Keeping track of your characters for fiction writing
-Bringing it all together and writing your manuscript
-The editing process, including sharing with beta readers.
-Publishing your masterpiece online

I'm a combination of half-made identities but my technology manuals are pretty right on. I recently published a tell-all about word processor Scrivener and am currently working on one about Goodreads.

When I'm not geeking out I'm falling in psychedelic wormholes of my own creation.

Easy, but, comprehensive introduction to Scrivener. Especially helpful as guide to its purpose and uses.

I rated it highly because of its clarity and utility. Very well presented, visually. Will turn to it often while using the features in Scrivener.

Great guide

Thank you for supplying this. As a writer I have this Scrivener program for windows.
Very anxious when they make Scrivener 3 available. I own many “dummy books” on Scrivener but this has given me a better outlook on this.

Solid Review

This guide is a simple ways to follow guide. It clears up some of the mystery concerning Schivner. For years, I wondered about learning another software package. I am glad I took the time to investigate things.

For a guide to a software package that went over the main features, the work flows, and high view about how to use this product, this worked well.

There were some problems with the kindle format that raise issues about the writer's QA process (the usual annoyances of referring to numbers that were off the screen when referring to steps, etc...)

It was inexpensive and definitely felt like a good quickie guide for someone new to the product.

Helpful

This was very helpful to understand the basics of how Scrivener is organized as well as some of the unique and useful features. I still need help with basics like how to set the font for an entire document but I'm glad I read this and would recommend it. Plus it was fun to read!

Helpful, useful and brief. Gives just enough amount information for a good and easy start with Scrivener. There are also some creative ideas how to use Scriveners. I could feel that the author both enjoyed working with Scrivener and also writing this guide.

Its a free ebook, so there's that. I found it to be very helpful, but ended up skimming over quite a bit, which I had figured out for myself.
