This is well-written drama. It commences with the reflection of a very deep, emotional trauma .based on grievous and severe suffering by both parties in what everyone believed to be an idyllic marriage, in a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business. Their strained relationship tragically spiraled downward to a point where both parties nearly killed each other viciously,

It sheds light on physical abuse that left debilitating scars tied to the after effects of P.T.S.D., fear, and their rejection of God in their lives, by walking away from him, at the time that they needed him most.

Running and crying, she sought a place to hide . . . It was the night that put an end to who she was and where she belonged. In the wake of it, she became what she had come to call 'a misplaced object.'"

This innocent love story portrays the highs and lows about life relationships and the powerful force forgiveness can be. Forgiveness is an act one gives to oneself. It not only heals our hearts but our souls as well. The narrative is presented by the points of view of the H/H, along with words from the Holy Spirit. You will personally witness an all-embracing Christian based walk through the eyes and hearts of the H/H.

This book had twists and turns throughout the lengthy time frame that keeps you in suspense, providing subplots and interconnections that bring clarity of awareness as well.

"Learning the seccret of contentment came as a result of unmending the veil."

Throughout the book and well into the conclusion, light is shed on restoration by faith, an intimate Christian walk, with faith in one who never walks away. It is packed with emotion, scripture, and biblical truths.

This was a tearjerker for me, even though I rarely cry. This was a story of forgiveness (of oneself and others), healing (emotional and relational), and more. I can’t say that I enjoyed reading some of it, but that was because of the disturbing subject matter. I loved the last half or so. I usually don’t care much for letters in books, but I enjoyed the many letters in this book.

Wow. This is as good as a Francine Rivers book! It has the emotional depth that makes you laugh and cry. You can see change in the characters' thinking over time. You see how scripture influences their thinking. I recommend this book! The examples of the characters in this book will inspire anyone to start the road to healing in their own life. The happy ending is so very satisfying. It's one of my top favorite books now. You will be glad you read it. I can't think of enough good words for it!

Wow! That's about all I can say right now. This book has to be one of the best inspirational romance books I have ever read. And, I read a lot. This is my first book to read by this author and it won't be my last. I am literally speechless. You know a book is good when you grieve, cry and rejoice with the characters in the book. Which is what I did. I read this book in two days. I could not put it down. I was a little hesitant at first to read about the subject, but it was so well written. It was absolutely beautiful the way she handled the story. And, I am happy to say it did have a happy ending. (always worry about those things) This book inspires you to make God your first love and when tragedy happens to not mend the veil. What does that mean? You need to read this book.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Not only is it well written and I honestly could not put it down. I had to keep myself from reading quickly so I could absorb this wonderful story of forgiveness and redemption. I kept thinking this is how Jesus sees us, worthy. The subject matter is difficult at times but the author does a beautiful job of uncovering layers of brokenness and baggage we carry into relationships and how they affect our lives. This is a life changing read and I know that I have gleaned valuable insight that have caused me to reflect on my life and how I see others and invest in to relationships.

When I saw the reviews on Amazon for this book I couldn't understand what everyone meant by saying, "It's a terrific story of redemption."
That said little to me of what the book was about.

So here's a quick summary:
Robin has spent the last 5 years of her life running away from the horrors of that dreadful night. Working at an inn with a family friend, Emma, Robin has prepared her escape for when her estranged (and very much incarcerated) husband Mike is released from jail. Meeting Chris is the best thing that's happened to Robin all summer. Chris's godly character starts to make a difference in Robin's life, and slowly God begins the process of healing her heart. But Robin's new life as a follower of Christ starts with all new challenges.
Emma has a secret that can tear both her and Robin apart. Chris has a startling confession to make to Robin. And Mike wants nothing more than to make Robin his again.

Now I can tell you that this story really IS about redemption. This story strays away from the typical Christian Fiction "format." And for that I love the story. My only reservation was that the author would sometimes shorten events by simply stating what happened as opposed to laying out the scenes.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS NOVEL

A moving story of forgiveness and redemption. I firmly believe that God changes hearts and that an alcoholic abuser can become a loving husband by God's grace. However, I know that abusers often say and do whatever it takes to convince their partners that they have changed when they haven't. Robin was cautious to ensure that Mike really had changed; any abused woman should be extremely careful, take their time, and be wise and discerning--make sure the change is from God and not deception from the enemy.

THIS BOOK! Put it on your reading list!
Its about redemption on SO. MANY. LEVELS.
This story is now on my top favorites list

Beautifully written and emotionally captivating, it just kept getting better until the final page. Readers grow attached to the characters and can share in their journey as the gospel floods their lives. Like the story, we are all broken people in very much need of a Savior.

I'm not one to cry but this story got me!

This story reached into the depths of my being. It is not to be read lightly. There is heartache and pain. There is also grace, healing and restoration. The magnitude of Christ's love is skillfully shown within this story. I highly recommend this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed Unmending the Veil....although it was hard to read what Mike & Robin went through.  I loved to see their walk with God change and grow and how God bought healing in their brokeness. It encouraged me to be more real with God about how I am feeling about some things in my life (nothing near as big as what Lisa's characters went through) but just made me want to really draw closer to God in my own quiet times and walk with Him. I look forward to reading more books by Lisa and looking forward to reading the sequel when it releases......

I loved UNMENDING THE VEIL. Actually, I love everything I've read by this author. UNMENDING THE VEIL made me laugh, cry, and search my own heart. Lisa Heaton draws the reader into her books with such strong emotions, and UNMENDING THE VEIL is no exception. The characters are presented as flawed people who find their way by using their faith in God and by relying on strong relationships with those around them. I highly recommend this book to readers.

One of my all time favorite books.

This is an amazing story of forgiveness and redemption. The MC must face her tragic past and learn to trust God so she can heal. This book touch me deeply in a personal way and will remain one of my all time favorite books. I read it for the second time and may have enjoyed it more the second time. It gave me reasons to think about my own relationship with Christ and the ways I have mended my own veil.

Forgiveness

Robin has a past that haunts her dreams. While working at an inn a schoolteacher with secrets of his own befriends her. Chris, the schoolteacher, helps Robin to not only face her past but forgive the one man who haunts her nights, her ex-husband Mike.
This is a great story of forgiveness and redemption.

Amazing Story

Wow! Just wow. Lisa did an incredible job developing the characters and taking you through their past sins, pain, joy, and spiritual growth. I could hardly put it down and read it in three days. While I typically prefer historical Christian fiction, I’m so glad I stepped outside of my preferred genre for this story.

Lisa Heaton is a new author to me and I truly enjoyed this book. The characters are flawed and real and dealing with issues of today- PTSD, spousal abuse, and SIDS. But this is a story of forgiveness, redemption, grace, viewing God as a Counselor rather than just saying these words at Christmas. This book is real and will touch you in so many ways. I recommend you read it.

The author did an exceptional job of making me care about every character. I fought tears more than once. My heart went out especially to Chris.

This book is heavy on scripture and Christian themes.

This book was both good and bad. It was both believable and unbelievable. It was not at all what I expected. In all honesty, though it was well written, I can't say that I enjoyed this book.

SPOILER ALERT: I enjoyed reading about the main character's recovery from the pain of spousal abuse. It was very realistic and encouraging. It was great to read about the heroine's recovery, and I felt that it could be encouraging for other abused women to read...

Then the woman's ex husband was released from prison, where he had finished serving a five year term for abusing her, and the two formed a friendship. Of course, the husband was completely reformed, and had become a Christian the night he was arrested, five years earlier. It turns out, the two had never stopped loving each other, so they were reunited.

I'm a Christian, and I know that God changes heart's, but it usually isn't as simple as this book made it seem. When I think of the many abused women, who return to their abusive spouses, hoping that this time, he's really changed, I am deeply troubled by this book.

While some abusers do turn to the Lord and change their lives for the better, most don't. If you are an abused spouse, beware, and be wise, before returning to live with your abusive spouse. If he has truly changed, he will be willing to seek counsel, and to find an accountability partner. Real life doesn't always give us the happy ever after ending that we would all like to have.

This book was skillfully written and challenged my faith on a level much deeper than I expect from a fiction read. At the risk of "spoiling" the story, the concept of unmending the veil was thoroughly carried throughout the storyline, and continually supports the actions of the characters. The thing I like best about this author's treatment of the topic of spousal abuse was that the resolution was what I consider to be a moral one. I don't like stories in which I find myself rooting for a solution which would be unbiblical, in my opinion.

The messiness of a Life.

"Unending the Veil" by Lisa Heaton, is so far, the best book I have read in a very long time! At first, I struggled " getting into" the story, but then as I continue to read, the tears began to fall. I was so moved by the storyline that I began to ask myself the very same questions( about my relationship with the Lord). After awhile, I didn't want to forget the truths that I was seeing, so I began to take notes, (all 14 pages of them).

This book was a little to "preachy" to me. Having an aunt that was abused I would hope that no woman would go back to those circumstances and I do not care if a man has "found" Jesus. You must forgive but that does not mean that you forget or give them the opportunity to hurt you again. This was just too unrealistic.

Was really caught off -guard by how much I enjoyed this book and would encourage you to give it a shot. Can't wait to see other titles by Lisa Heaton.

Nice story, but

I did enjoy this story, but the central portion did drag on. A lot. While they were exchanging letters, (which was either very dated or very unrealistic), the writing was very stilted. The author was much better with dialogue. And for such a heavy subject, it did wrap up too easily.

LOVED this book! Emotionally draining but so full of God's healing and grace. The author spent a great deal of time developing the characters and being realistic in how this situation might work out. Best book I have read in a long time. Highly recommended.

Hands down my favorite book. Easily ranks up there with Redeeming Love as must read Christian fiction. I highlighted so many parts that were deep truths that flowed as part of the story. I cannot recommend this book enough!
