"Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid. "

When Navy SEAL training pushed Lieutenant Josh Walker to his limit, Chief David Flint's stern heart-to-heart-more like boot-to-ass-helped Josh realize his potential. When the holidays found them alone together and sharing a mutual attraction, they couldn't help breaking a few regulations. And nearly breaking some furniture in the process.

Years after their short-lived fling, Senior Chief Flint returns to SEAL duty and finds himself under the command of the man he's never been able to Lieutenant "Commander" Walker. And Josh hasn't forgotten David, either. Rules be damned, they can't keep their hands off each other.

Despite their discretion, another SEAL catches on and threatens to expose their relationship, forcing Josh to bend to a blackmailer's demands to avoid strife within the team just before a dangerous mission. David is the last man he can confide in...and the first to pick up on Josh's tightly screwed-down stress.

When a life-or-death decision calls Josh's leadership into question, coming clean could cost him what he values most. His coveted trident...and the man he loves.

Contains a pair of Navy SEALs who don't like playing by the rules, scorching-hot sex between two Alphas who like to be in charge, cursing as only Navy men can curse, lots of camouflage and badassery in the wilds of North Korea, and enough emotion to sink a battleship.

Crap! What a bummer! This turned out to be a dud for me. I'm a huge fan of military romance and don't mind the action scenes at all, I understood all the lingo, but I just didn't connect with the two MCs. I didn't like how they got together (it felt creepy to me), I didn't feel their passion and this book never really held my attention. I'm gonna go with the very real possibility that S.E. Jakes and Kendall McKenna have ruined me for military romance. They just continue to knock me on my ass every time, without fail!

I'm putting this on my everyone liked it but me shelf since the vast majority are loving this book, so be sure to look at other reviews before deciding to read this one. For me, I needed more emotion and passion and I just didn't get that here.

Review written for The Blog of Sid Love.

This was one hot exciting ride pretty much from the get go. Flint and Josh meet up in BUDS/S training where Senior Chief Flint seems to be pushing LT Walker harder than any of the other trainees. Eventually, they learn each other is gay, and things really heat up. They give in to having a one-night stand that was so full of alpha testosterone, you could hardly breathe. Chief Flint becomes David, and LT becomes Josh, and the sparks certainly fly. I loved the dynamics and how everything played out when the battle for dominance finally ended.

The guys then attempt to ignore each other while training finishes up, and they are successful as graduation approaches. Flint eventually transfers to a new position and is now under Josh’s command. They eventually decide they don’t want to fight the attraction that has been on each other’s mind during the time they have been apart. So, they discreetly continue their relationship. Unfortunately, Benson, one of the team members, learns about them and tries to use the information to his advantage.

Not long after, the team is deployed on a mission to extract a POW, where things really heat up. Tension is high with the actual mission, as well as Benson’s attitude toward Josh’s ability to lead the team given his feelings for Flint. The action is exciting and just long enough to keep you interested. Flint and Josh’s love remains strong, even as they face the many challenges that come with the conclusion of their mission.

This was a fast-paced, engrossing read that I didn’t want to put down. The writing was solid, just as I expected from these authors. Hot SEALS that just seem perfect for each other, whose love didn’t falter no matter what they faced. I quickly fell in love with the both of them and was definitely not ready for their story to end. This is a fabulous start to a new series, and I am super excited to see what’s next. They still have some challenges ahead, especially Flint, so hopefully we will get to see those play out in book 2.

The story is far from over but this first book ends in a satisfying way and we leave the MCs in a place where they have their whole future head of them. No cliffhanger, no loose ends, but so many possibilities for more of their story, which we get with two more books!

I liked this first book a lot. The characters where amazing and their past was very nicely portayed. I liked how they reconnected after years apart and how they separated their personal and professional relationships.

It reminded me a bit of Wheels Up by Annabeth Albert (which I abrolutely loved!) since the main issue was the same in both books - the difference in ranks between the MCs meant that they couldn't have any kind of connection outside of the job.

If you like military men, secret relationships and a bit of action then it's a safe bet you're going to love this story!

I've always enjoyed a good gay romance that involved the military; be it Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Rangers, you name it, but this one is off the charts HOT and instantly became a favorite that I will no doubt read again. Walker (Josh) and Flint (David) are Navy SEALS who both fight for dominance inside and out of the bedroom. This is a real pantie scorcher, so be prepared to be wowed.

Josh is at BUD/S (SEAL) training when he meets David for the first time. David is a seasoned, hard-ass SEAL who is taking a break from the action in the field by instructing future SEALS in San Diego. Josh is the struggling trainee, but one with the potential to be a great leader, and David sees it, so he pushes Josh harder than anyone else. David is a real ass-kicker and doesn't hold back in his sometimes brutal training. You will be the best SEAL possible, or quit, period.

There is also that undeniable spark between Josh and David, hidden but smoldering…until Josh accidentally outs himself to David. Josh is beyond freaked out, but when David outs himself in response, then all bets are off. What happens next is one of the hottest sex scenes I've read in a long, long, time, and these two definitely rank way up there in my all time favorite main character roles. Whoa...these two take rough sex to an all new level.

Inevitably, training won’t last forever, and as usual in the military, deployments and transfers will separate the secret, but scorching, affair between Josh and David. Three years pass before they end up together again…and on the same SEAL team. Watching the two alpha males in action is almost as stimulating as vicariously experiencing their bedroom acrobatics. Those two make bruises sexy.

Sadly, their first mission together ends up being their last. I don’t want to spoiler anyone, but suffice to say, it was a tense read, and I was sweating it out, crossing my fingers and toes that these two could pull it off. I have a whole new world of respect for these guys and their families. It definitely requires balls of steel to do what they do.

That being said, this is a romance novel, so it does come with a strong HFN but one heading straight for that requisite HEA. This is the first book of the series, so I have no doubt that book two will solidify the HEA that is started here.

Highly recommend to everyone, and especially to those who get all warm and gooey over hot military men like I do.

Come on, it's LA Witt (w/ Cat Grant, who I must read more of now)...fucking fantastic. Can't wait for book 2 (same characters) - there's resolution at the end, a nice HFN tho.

(I see you all judging me, wondering why I can't give HFNs to my own books...)

I can guarantee that Cat Grant and L.A. Witt have written this first book in their 'Only One' series for ME. Navy SEALS. Hello? In my world they are the second hottest military personnel after the US Marine Corps. SEALS are rumored to be the toughest and the sexiest in the Navy, hands down, so then throw in some male/male love and I pretty much thought I'd died and gone to heaven. In fact, my husband ripped my iPad out of my hands to ensure I'd get some sleep. *pouting and pissed*

BUD/S training. I've heard some of the horrors, seen the Hollywood movie versions, but jumping right into it with Chief David Flint screaming at Lieutenant Josh Walker was eerily terrifying and my body hurt watching the paces Josh was put through. And, what I saw was just a tiny amount of the whole hellish training. *gulp* Flint gives Josh a kick in the ass which turns out to be the best motivation needed. A few weeks later when training is on hold for the holidays and everyone is out at the bar, Flint and Josh run into each other. Josh is surprised to discover that Flint graduated from the Academy, too, spent six years in the Marines, decided he wanted to be a SEAL, so he gave up his commission and enlisted in the Navy. Pretty damn impressive. Josh offers to drive Flint home as Josh is stone cold sober and Flint had a couple. Along the way, Flint teases him about taking Josh away from the only tail he's going to see in a while, and, well, that's when it inadvertently comes out that Josh is gay. Now Josh doesn't know what to think as Flint hasn't said anything negative, but he's also acting very uncomfortable even though he offers to let Josh wait inside his apartment for the cab.

"'I'll keep it quiet,' Flint locked eyes with him and stepped closer. 'As long as you will too.' 'What?' Josh furrowed his brow. 'If I don't want you to out me, why the hell would I out myself?'
'I wasn't talking about outing yourself.'
'Then what the hell--' Josh's jaw dropped. 'Oh. Oh'
Flint took another step towards him. 'Do we have an understanding, Lieutenant?'"

When Flint asks him to not call him chief for one night, to call him David, and then kisses him, well this is Josh's fantasy come to life and oh holy hell is it hot, and smoking, and incendiary and "I need a really cold shower now, thank you". I was pretty much a bundle of limp goo at the end. Thanks, Cat and Lori, I needed that. *grins* It, of course, could only be a onetime thing as they just broke a lot of rules, but neither one will forget it, or each other.

Three years later, Senior Chief Flint is reporting for duty and is shown into Lieutenant Commander Joshua Walker's office. Fate either loves these two or hates them. I wasn't really sure for a while. It certainly doesn't take David and Josh much time to get back between the sheets, even knowing if found out both of their careers would be in the toilet. "'There is so much at stake here. We've both worked way too hard to get where we are, and I don't want....' 'You don't want to throw it away over a fling.' Josh chewed his lip. 'Neither do I. I'm just not sure that's what we'd be doing.' Flint's eyebrows shot up again."

Oh, the total skeeze-bucket chief who blackmails Josh for a glowing eval so he can make senior chief and then retire. I despise people like that! Dear goddess, you're a Navy SEAL for chrissakes, you should never stoop to blackmail to get a good eval. Jerk. Ugh. On a lighter note, I was really impressed with the authors' military lingo and the action scenes for the team's deployment. It was very exciting and I got really caught up in the moment. I felt like I was right there being terrified with Josh waiting for some information from the hospital on David's status from his gunshot wound.

Returning stateside isn't exactly the relief it should be as Josh's higher-ups are all wondering why he didn't tell anyone he was being blackmailed and then he took his whole team, including the chief, on the mission. It seems they somehow believe Josh was going to give the chief a glowing eval and not deal with this at all, no matter how many times Josh explains that he didn't want this issue upsetting the team before a mission and he wouldn't have been able to replace the chief, who is also their medic, before they were scheduled to deploy. Politics, yuck.

Oh, I really adored this story and can't wait for the next one. I fell for both Josh and David, and rooted for their happy ending the whole time. It broke my heart when David got the medical discharge after nineteen years in the military. Seeing these guys get their happy ever after made everything worthwhile and now I'm on pins and needles for the next installment.

Love military guys and found this one unsurprisingly gritty. Cat Grant writes MC's who have this sort of very rough flavor. Not mean rough - just tough as hell. Stoic. Uncompromising. This is not unlike many guys I've met throughout my life who were career military so it just fits for me. There is often this feeling that you don't know the characters as well as you would like too - but I like that as it feels more authentic. Liked Josh and David, thought the sex was explosive and really some great chemistry. I did think the last 1/2 was not as good as the first but then again anytime you have that type of tension it's hard to keep it running throughout in the same way. As for fraternization I'm not a fan in general however there's room for errors on the MC's part - flawed is more interesting to me. The kind of arrogance demonstrated in the beginning along with the adrenalin they get from doing what they did felt every bit as addictive to me too!

Entertaining Navy Seals-kick-ass-and-fall-in-love-story for the squeamish, but it confirms my secret fear - that every story already has been told. I had many deja-vu`s while reading it. Navy Seals or British Forces - the similarities to Marquesate`s Her Majesty's Men were quiet stunning. Comparing these two books I very much prefer the much darker, much edgier HMM. Especially because Marquesate didn`t turn her badass- soldier characters to lovesick puppies. (Yes, that`s a niggle)
Though I must admit that one-two lines in The Only One Who Knows turned my cold heart to mush - not an easy task - for that the book gets three strong stars.

Flint and Josh

Really enjoyed this book. It is the perfect blend of sexy and emotional. I would love to see these men a couple of months down the road. I think I need to find more by this pair of authors too. Full review on Fiction Vixen Book Reviews

Let’s start by quoting the first couple of words from the Warning in the blurb:

Contains a pair of Navy SEALs who don’t like playing by the rules, scorching-hot sex between two Alphas who like to be in charge…

So do I have your attention yet? Well The Only One Who Knows had my attention almost immediately with that kind of warning. Is that really supposed to warn me off? lol Take into account the authors are Cat Grant and L.A. Witt, two very steamy m/m writers, there was no way I was going to let this book pass me by.

The Only One Who Knows Cat Grant L.A. Witt The Only One

Lieutenant Josh Walker is just trying to get survive Navy Seal training with Chief David Flint as his instructor. Being a Navy Seal is what he was born to do and he won’t let anything get in his way. If it seems like Flint is extra hard on him that is because Flint sees potential in Josh that not many other people have.

Josh makes it through this part of training and takes some time to celebrate with his fellow trainees. At the bar, he notices a less than sober Flint and offers him a ride home. At first, Flint protests because shouldn’t Josh be back at the bar trying to pick up a woman, but the awkward silence in the car tells Flint that maybe a woman isn’t what Josh wants. Once the secret is out for both men, they can’t seem to resist the attraction. Josh struggled to keep his eyes off Flint during training and now that the man is offering him a night with no strings, he is not going to pass it up. Both men know they are crossing all kinds of fraternization lines but just one time and they won’t tell anyone else. What neither of them count on is that one time meaning so much.

Fast forward three years and both men have been promoted. Flint has new orders and is dismayed to find out that Josh is his new commanding officer. The team’s old senior chief did not make it back from the last mission and now Flint is his replacement. It doesn’t take long for them to realize their attraction hasn’t gone away but if they were to be together now, it would be even worse because Josh is Flint’s CO. How would anyone trust the chain of command in a mission where two people had more at stake than getting the job done? But they recognize their feelings aren’t going to go away and agree to discreetly continue to see each other.

Things get dicey when an insubordinate chief implies that he has knowledge of Josh and Flint’s relationship and blackmails Josh to put in a good word for a recent evaluation. Just when Josh is trying to figure out how to deal with the blackmail the team is given orders and they immediately deploy. When the mission goes wrong and Flint is hurt, the truth comes out and Josh’s decisions come under question. Suddenly their relationship is in the open, Flint is hurt and Josh has no idea where his career is going.

The Only One Who Knows is a very well done book. One of my biggest issues with romance is how quickly a relationship seems to happen. I have learned to overlook it but it isn’t uncommon for people to fall in love and move to the next step within a week or several days. The Only One Who Knows shows the progression of a relationship in a realistic timeframe. Our heroes meet, connect and then don’t see each other for three years. Over that three years they move on with their lives but often think of the other man so when they meet up again it is only natural for them to get back together.

The sex is diiiirty and so hot. Flint might start as the instructor and badass but when they get to the bedroom Josh over powers him and he is the aggressor. It was completely unexpected and totally hot. Josh is also a pain whore so the first time he bottoms it is rough and hard. Readers will have no complaints about the sex in this one and you even might find yourself going back to peek at some of the scenes again.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable book. The emotions between the two men are deep and pull you in. Their struggle to decide between career and love is believable but I like how it didn’t drag out. The authors allowed us to feel their fight but to then focus on building what they had instead of rehashing the same thing. M/m fans will relish this sexy, passionate book and ask for more. Final grade- B+

Favorite Quote:

They had each other, which was something Josh couldn’t imagine taking for granted.

They had tonight.

Everything else could wait.

Good, but not great.

Let me start off by saying that I like both MCs: Josh and David (Flint). HOWEVER, they didn't really feel distinct. Asides from the fact that David cusses more than Josh, I don't think I would have been able to tell the difference in their conversation (as in, who is speaking). Not only that, but I had a very hard time buying their relationship. Sure, most relationships start off with lust, which leads to "the" one-night stand. But what happens from there is what makes these relationships special. With Josh and David, it was more along the lines of: they couldn't forget each other after their first sexual encounter --> love.

Urgh, sure.

But you know what? Once I realized that this isn't some nitty-gritty story where love is born from the perils of war and violence (cue dramatic music and scenes of two soldiers fighting for their lives) and took everything at face value, it kind of worked. And don't get me wrong: there was a level of intimacy and feels towards the later third of the story that had me get all teary eyed so this wasn't by any means a stale read. Plus, there was some action towards the middle of the book involving a mission (gunshots galore!). And of course, the sex was hawt, so yeah...

A tepid read involving two Navy SEALs. Even though I was expecting something to push my emotions a little more, it was still enjoyable.

I really liked the story of Josh, a young recruit in Navy SEAL training, falling for his instructor Chief Flint and having an intimate encounter with him. Years later Flint gets transferred to a SEAL team that is led as Lieutenant Commander by - big surprise - Josh, who is now Flint's superior. The two rekindle their old attraction and start a relationship that they want to keep secret from their teammates.

However, when their relationship status leaks during a dangerous mission in North Korea, it's both their lives at stake. And relying on their team mates is a question of life and death during a deployment.

I really liked the setting and the plot, but somehow I couldn't really get into Josh and David's mind. Their past stayed a secret, especially David's, who didn't seem to have any kind of history before showing up on the first page.

But I really loved the shift in power with both guys changing their roles during the story (student/teacher becoming Lieutenant Commander/senior chief) and the challenges that both guys faced during the last 20% impressed me and convinced me to add another star.

All in all, a solid story that sure deserves 4 stars!

I've read better by both these authors. I don't know that I really felt the love between the characters until the end, and even the sex scenes zigged when I expected them to zag. Also, the beginning reminded me too much of another book by Witt, Conduct Unbecoming.

I think I liked the actiony bits best of all, that part kept me fully engaged til the end.

Navy Chief David Flint has been a SEAL for years, and in the closet even longer. He's working as an instructor when his eye is caught by Lieutenant Josh Walker, a young man whose potential to be the best brings out Flint's toughest training. Josh's ability to stand up under that training brings out David's long-submerged desire too. In one heated moment, they collide into sex. But given their status and the DADT era, it's completely the wrong thing to do. They back away from each other, swearing never to let it happen again. Then, years later, they meet, assigned to the same SEAL team...

This is a prototypical two-alpha-military-guys story, that works pretty well. The military setting felt authentic, the sex was hot and rough, but not impersonal, and their growing relationship, almost against their wills, was slow enough to be mostly plausible. It felt somewhat like a case of opportunity and proximity, but they grew on me as a couple. There is some exciting action, some trauma and angst, and an ending that wasn't a cop-out on either the gay-closet or the injury front. This felt more realistic, but a little less emotionally immersive, than Suzanne Brockmann's SEALs as characters, but still engaging. This book ends with a HFN, and I immediately went to find the next one, to see how it worked out.

The Only One Who Knows is everything I love about a good military romance. There is fabulous, heart pounding action combined with a hot steamy relationship between two tough, strong men. Grant and Witt gave me just what I was looking for and I thought it was a fabulous story.

First off, the military side of things is so well done. From the training, to the mission, to the day-to-day life on base, the authors capture so many little details as to make it all just come to life. I never doubted anything I was reading was authentic and rang true, immersing me in the story and the adventure. The mission the men go on to rescue a captured CIA agent is incredibly exciting, with both wonderful detail as well as thrilling adventure that kept me frantically flipping pages to see how the guys make it out alive. It was all just so incredibly well done and really grounded the romance solidly in the military world.

“Still, he wasn’t worried. They’d already been through plenty of hell, and while they hadn’t come through it unscathed, they’d come through it together. There wasn’t a storm they couldn’t weather, not after everything that had happened recently.”

They start out at uneven and on unequal footing and at least in rank and position it stays that way, even if the roles reverse.
They also start out as Flint and Walker, but that changes to David and Josh.
This was slightly reminiscent of Basic Training, but it did have it's own charm.
I liked it, even if something about it kept me feeling slightly anxious and on edge, I'm not sure why though.
It feels very real and sweet and I'd actually like to read more about them together later on.

I loved this book. Love it. I have a thing for the men in uniform undressing each other and having hot sex. I'm a perv. Get over it.

What I also loved is how this was so easy moving. Everything flowed really well and felt good. During those totally intense times when I was on the edge of my seat, my heart was beating wildly, I could not have been happier. I was so invested in everything going on with these two guys and their SEAL team. I'm not sure how to explain how come this was so great for me. It just was. Now, I have to wait until like March, or some stupid month, to get the next book. I want it now!

I read this as an ARC and have been sitting on my hands since then. What I really want to say about this book is "OMG. So GOOD. You must buy it! Go, Now!"

But that's not very, um... helpful, is it?

So, the sex is hot, yes. But what really got me was the description of military life, the pressures under DADT, and the edge-of-your-seat action when the SEAL team went on its mission. OMG. The mission. I sat there on the edge of my couch with my heart beating a million miles an hour.

Basically, the book is a roller coaster of realistic emotion and realistic action.

And yes, yes, it has some damn hot sex.

Loved this. The main characters have great chemistry, and the military details felt very realistic. There was also an action sequence that kept me riveted.

One minor quibble:

Anyway, highly recommended, especially if you're like me and fed up with schmoopy military stories. I can't wait for the second book.

Sadly, this one didn't blow my dress up. I'm huge fans of both authors so perhaps I was expecting too much? I dunno. But, this one left me apathetic.

I had high hopes because I love me some alphas! So it stands to reason: two's all the better, right? Um, chalk this book up in the "no" category. The power plays got tiresome and I felt as though the MCs' combined alpha-ness worked against them. They fit; they just didn't coalesce.

Bottom line: I expected better.

Started hot and then fizzled.

Really liked the twist in the David and Josh's relationship, definitely mixed things up a bit. What am I going to say--I agree 100% on the dangers of fraternization. Those fractions of seconds spent worrying instead of acting is why it's not a good idea. Period. Great fun in a story, but so wrong in reality.

Great plot and wonderful writing! So intense I didn't want to put it away for even a second.

While I think the build up throughout the first quarter was pretty good and kept me interested, the most fun was def. around 40%~60% - everything was easy to picture, entertaining, engrossing and had me biting my nails....

I liked Josh and David, they're both "born SEALs", that's gotta say it all. {{In case it doesn't - they're HOT-HOT-HOT}} :)

I enjoyed their "battle for dominance" and when they eventually came around and admitted to their feelings it was actually pretty sweet. The sex was always pretty hot and didn't seem to be just a page filler, 'cause there wasn't actually that much sex. ( oh gawd I'm complaining 'cause there wasn't enough naked men..!? Just a little :) )

Overall though, I felt there was a certain lack of chemistry between them and I didn't connect with either man as much as I wished. I think more pages in the beginning, more personal background, a bit more of David and Josh together before the deployment and just a bit more fleshed out here and there... - I think it could do wonders and make this awesome book into something incredible. But that's just my opinion :)

"They’d already been through plenty of hell, and while they hadn’t come through it unscathed, they’d come through it together."

This was my first read by either author and I think I'm kinda hooked :) I will gladly come back for more!

I'm a huge fan of military romances, really huge. And this was definitely a great story and I really liked the couple. Was it a favorite of mine? No. But it was definitely a story that kept me reading and wanting to know more. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I really liked the way the relationship developed, but a few times I wanted the relationship to be a bit more romantic, I guess. The emotion between the MC's was there. I just felt like they started in a hot way, and I liked it. But then the time after that and once after they were reunited that I felt... I guess it was mostly because I felt it could be a bit one-sided at times.

Overall, though, the story was fantastic. Good for those who enjoy military romances and like steamy books. I am so glad I finally sat down and read it!

A-Z Challenge Book O

I’m asking myself why I let this sit unread for so many years! It was so good! I’m a sucker for military romance and this delivered in spades. We get to experience some SEAL training as well as a mission the team is sent on. Add in some delicious sexy times and I was a happy camper.

I wish we had gotten a bit more in regards to character descriptions. Eye color seemed to be the only distinction between the two men other than the fact that one was older than the other. Flint was older than Josh, but Josh outranked Flint. We never find out their ages so I have no idea of the gap. Flint had been serving almost 20 years, but he went to an academy first. Do those years count as part of the 20? It’s never clear. It was said that he wasn’t quite 40, but he had graying in his hair. 37? 38? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have no clue how old Josh was.

There are 3 books in this series and they’re about the same couple. I do think this would work well on its own, though, if someone just wanted to read one and not the others. It ends in a solid HFN. The original copyright date is 2014 so some things felt dated, but not overtly so. Overall I think it stood up well to the test of time and is still relevant.

You know what’s cool? When one of your favorite authors co-writes with an author you’ve never read and you discover a “new” author to love.

While I’ve read and loved L.A. Witt’s offerings for awhile now, I’d never read Cat Grant but after reading The Only One Who Knows, you can bet I’ll be checking out her backlist. Growing up around military bases, I can’t help but love M/M romances involving hot as hell military men and oh boy, does this one fit the bill. Navy SEALs, an officer and an enlisted man, and one in a supervisory position over the other, can you say rule breakers? But damn if that doesn’t just turn the heat up and make me want to read that much more and I’m so glad I did. A detailed and smart plot, two ALPHA men who both love being in charge and titillating forbidden sex make this one intelligently sexy story!

Chief David Flint has seen many a man come through SEAL training but only a few have shown the capabilities needed to lead but he sees that in Lieutenant Josh Walker. While Josh struggles with the physical aspects of the training, Chief Flint is there to keep him in line and kick his ass when needed. When an act of kindness finds them alone and sharing a mutual attraction, the rules fly out the window as they give in to the desire and passion they both crave.

There was no doubt of the passion between these two and when the reunite after years apart, it burns that much brighter. It was fascinating to watch their power plays during their intimate moments especially given their military ranks. I appreciated that they both realized there was more to their relationship than sex and it was worth the risk to stay involved and while that worked for the most part until a team member gets wind of their unorthodox relationship causing all sorts of questions.

A rough mission, tough decisions, serious injuries, and military careers on the line round out this already full and sexy story making The Only One Who Knows a must read.

Poor L.A. Witt use to be an auto-buy for me, before she became one of those authors who got popular, published with a gazillion houses, co-wrote a lot of bad books and just let her quality go down the drain. If you read her earlier solo books they are so good that these newer additions seem embarrassing in return.

I think I may have read two or so books from Cat Grant in the past? Maybe. I guess that tells you all.

These two co-writing? Well I despise reading co-written books because they rarely work. It reads like fanfiction between two pals who've drank too much and then asking money for it in return. That's how they read to me in any case. Then why did I buy this book? Because I have a thing for military type books.

The book tries to have the same flavour of the brilliant book (IMO) by Crystal Rose. This book had none of that brilliance and so much fail. David is a SEAL instructor and Josh is at the academy. He sort of sucks to be honest but David can SEE something in him you know. He knows he'll be a leader (whilst he's falling about on the floor). Josh toughens up in time for these two guys to hook up. Erections were flying all over the place as was the fear of being caught. I don't need to explain more.

Forward on some and Josh is now the Commander Lieutenant and David is in the lesser position. Erections are still flying as is the crazy WE SHOULDN'T BE DOING THIS and add in some blackmail, a mission and a near death scene - the guys get over their predicament fast.

The writing isn't bad and had potential but it was rather whiny and self-indulgent. This is a series (of course) so I hope the second book is a bit better considering the theme. I hope so because it hopefully can only improve?
