Ulus-devletin düşünülebilir olması için, ondan önce var olanın, yani feodalitenin üstyapısal kurumu kral-devletin yadsınması gerekmektedir. Spinoza, Locke, Voltaire ile Montesquieu gibi düşünürler, işte bu işlevi yerine getirirler. About the author

After Saint Joseph Boys High School, he graduated from the Institut de l'Etude Politique in Strasbourg (1973). He started his postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris in the same year.

Ağaoğulları, who received his Doctorat d'Etat (state doctorate) degree at the same institution in 1979, became an associate professor in the field of political theory in 1987 and a professor in 1993. Starting in 1980, he taught "History of Political Thought" at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University and retired in April 2017. The retirement ceremony planned for him was prevented by the rector and the ceremony was held at the Mülkiyeliler Union instead of the faculty.

Herhalde serinin en iyi kitabı. Spinoza, Locke, Aydınlanmacılık ve Monstesquieu, her biri de kendilerini yaratan toplumsal düzenler ve sınıf mücadeleleri içerisinde değerlendirilmiş. Daha da güzeli, düşünürlerin siyaset görüşleri sahip oldukları felsefi temelle birlikte, onun bir uzantısı olarak ele alınmış. Ayrıca Ağaoğulları'nın yazdığı "Aydınlanmacılık" bölümü, döneme ilişkin okuduğum en yetkin, en güzel değerlendirmelerden biri.
