Marcy Margate has it all: she's young, rich, and built like Barbie. She isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but the girl's got sass and spunk to spare. Plus, she's sizzling hot. When her marriage to a real live genius starts to dim and grow cool, however, she's puzzled. What went wrong?

Marcy loves her husband, even if Jess Margate is from the planet of the nerds. She decides to play it smart for a change. Using spyware and creative strategy, she plots to find out why her geek has been interruptus. Armed with miniature technology, Marcy plans to uncover the cause for the downtime in their love life.

A modern romantic comedy of hot errors and hotter apologies, Geekus Interruptus is a story for our time. Because these days, nerds rule. And geeks have guilty pleasures too, some quite different than our own.

Okay, repeat after me: Be nice Heather, be nice Heather, be nice Heather...

::Deep breath::

I not only didn't like this book, this book made me visibly upset. I found it to be irritating and the characters to be shockingly one-dimentional. Not only that, I was even mildly offended by the content, which doesn't happen to me much.

Let me back up and explain. This book is a very short story about a hot wife who thinks that her geeky husband is cheating on her. My favorite parts of this book were the title and the cover, which are pretty cute. Also the blurb was promising- I mean, I love romantic comedies!

Problem? I didn't find this book funny. At all. And the character of the wife didn't really seem stupid, just judgmental, morally deficient, and not at all in love with her husband.

The first thing that Marcy does when she thinks that her husband is cheating on her is to go and seduce the married man next door.

Years of good girl behavior and, like that, she fell right off the wagon, landing on her ass, rolling onto all fours so she could indulge herself in all her old single-girl tricks. Was that fair? Shouldn't she catch Jess in the act before plunging herself onto someone else's dick?

Yes she certainly should. Especially if she expected to get a decent settlement...

Now, Marcy's whole thought process really bothered me. Being married and being in love isn't like sobriety- you are supposed to WANT to be with your spouse. Marcy didn't seem like she liked her husband at all, much less love him. So why should I care or root for their happily ever after? I didn't, and I just grew to hate Marcy more and more.

Jess was the ultimate geek, so the situation she found herself in shouldn't have been possible. Geeks were like Jews; they mated for life. Didn't they?

Marcy, as both a Jew and a Geek, I wanted to slap you at this moment. I think the author is trying to make Marcy out to be a ditz and having her say "zany", stupid things, but honestly it just comes across as mean. She says the most horrible, critical things about her husband and geeks in general. Marcy constantly talks about how geeks are boring and have lack-luster sex lives.

Marcy loved her husband, but this was Geek love. Not her usual brand of wild, passionate, intensely sexual love.

Well, excuse me! I didn't know that geeks were supposed to be boring in the sack! No one sent me the memo. Again, I think the author is trying to make Marcy out to be silly-judgmental but it falls flat. Mostly because Marcy articulates her judgmental and stereotypical thoughts exceedingly well.

I was hoping and praying right up to the very very end that Jess (her husband) would be running a sex dungeon on the side, just to mess with Marcy's perception of a "geek" but, alas, don't hold your breath, readers. The ending was harlequin all the way and I finished this book feeling pissed. All things considered, the writing wasn't bad, but the content just pushed my buttons the wrong way. Other reviewers seem to like this one so I seem to be in the minority.

2 Stars!! Mostly for the adorable cover, I can't say the same for what's inside.

I couldn't connect to this story or characters at all!! I found the entire read somewhat humiliating. I’m not a heroine hater and I try to give women and their issues the benefit of the doubt, look at why they feel the way they do. BUT, Marcy’s issues and her answers to resolving things with her husband were twisted, and she was no better than what she accuses him of. I found her to be crude and nasty, not sexy and seductive, and in all honesty for someone who claimed to love her husband so much, she didn’t know him at all. It was steamy alright, but I felt no love, no chemistry, just demanding degrading sex.

This read might appeal to some readers, but as for me…I’m out!

My TeamRBH review with links here: http://rbh-contemporary.blogspot.co.n...

Originally read by the RBH team in May, the funny and entertaining hot short story; Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J Corrigan has been re-released by Bottom Drawer Publications with a new cover and minor copy edits after original publisher closed.

Marcy has had enough of being ignored by her husband, Jess who's always closeted away doing whatever geeky stuff he does with his computer. Marcy wouldn't know, she's not allowed near him. We meet Marcy as she's convinced Jess is cheating on her. Well she's not going to take this lying down/standing up/any which way and makes it her mission to catch him out and catch him back into her bed where he belongs!

Mickey has done a fantastic job of describing Marcy and Jess, I can totally picture them, Marcy is just beautiful, drop dead gorgeous, the girl every guy wants. She's chosen Jess tho, the skinny jeans kind of wearing software engineer aka computer geek. Marcy cant believe this is happening to her tries every trick in the book to get Jess to notice her.

With Mickey's style of writing I was completely captured, I wanted to find out if Marcy was successful in catching Jess out. I was laughing out loud at some of the outrageous things Marcy gets up to and most of all I couldn't wait to see how it all turned out in the end.

Geekus Interruptus is an amusing and delightfully naughty little short story which is perfect for any time really; a sneaky read at work, a trip on the bus, waiting in the Dr's room...

If you've already read Geekus Interruptus, it's well worth the re-download and dont forget to take a look at Bottom Drawer Publications, a whole new world opens up for us readers and I found myself marking a quite a few stories for downloading.

I'm looking forward to Mickey's upcoming release thru BDP The Ghostwriters

Head to Amazon now, as I write this Geekus Interruptus can be yours for as little as $1.49.

Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J. Corrigan is a short novella by an able author with an eagle eye for focussing on the details in relationships, romantic/sexual relationships in particular.

This is not the first time I've seen a geek feature as a romantic hero - Libby Mercer and Louise Cusack have both featured computer nerds in their romance novels. But the premise is an interesting area to explore. Marcy, a young woman with a high libido, stopped her sleep around lifestyle to concentrate on domestic bliss with Jess. But all is not well. Jess the man is present, well some of the time, but when he is, his mind is elsewhere. Marcy debates what she should do and decides to go for the jugular and find out exactly what her nerd is up to.

The answer is surprising.

I liked this story. I know Mickey J. Corrigan writes erotica and sure enough, the ration of passion was there. The usual erotica trip, albeit condensed. Certain body parts hardening, others liquifying, the whole arousal trip then hey, it doesn't happen. The big let down. Of course when fulfilment comes, the earth moves (doesn't it always? At least in novels).

A satisfying ending and lessons are learnt all round. If you like short, fun, sexy reads, grab this one.

Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J. Corrigan

What is a beautiful " Barbie " like wife to do when she believes her Geek of a husband is cheating? Why go to a spyware store of course!

In this short novel by Mickey J. Corrigan, we find Marcy at lose ends as to why her husband Jess is no longer interested in her. He is staying behind closed doors, working late and traveling out of town on weekends. Marcy realizes just how bad things have gotten when she is tempted by a neighbor into having an affair. Not wanting to lose Jess or her marriage she sets out to get to the bottom of their problems.

Jess Margate really does love his wife, but he doesn't find her intellectually stimulating. So he has found a way to challenge himself. What he doesn't realize is his new passion and obsession is taking a toll on his marriage. We are talking a true Geek thru and thru.

The characters were well written. Jess was believable as a geeky nerd, and Marcy came across as neurotic at times, which gets explained near the end of the book. I did have an issue with Marcy's character being paranoid about what Jess is doing, when she needed to question her own actions. But overall nice short story

Marcy Buenaventure Margate is married to a Geek named Jess Margate. Marcy is worried about her marriage to her Geeky love because loving a Geek is very different from everyone else's love. Marcy wonders if Jess is cheating on her. Marcy misses her wild sex days before she married Jess whose loving is sweet and gentle. Marcy sets out to prove that Jess is having an affair. Is Jess having an affair? Will Marcy get her wild sex back? What is Jess hiding from Marcy? Your answers await you in Geekus Interruptus.

This is such a sweet and amazing book. It explores a side of romance that is often left in the dust by many authors. Who tend to be more mainstream as far as writing goes. I simply adored Marcy's inner dialogue. Jess prove to be an alpha male by taking charge and allowing Marcy her say. I certainly hope that this author continues to do books that inspire me into finding my hubby for some special one on one time. Until next time Happy Reading!

** I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK BY THE AUTHOR, IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

This would be a 2.5 stars for me.

Book – Geekus Interruptus
Author – Mickey Corrigan
Star rating - ★★☆☆☆
Would I read it again – Probably not.
Plot – A little thin, could have been expanded on.
Characters – Can't relate to them. A little one-dimensional.
Movie Potential - ★★☆☆☆
Ease of reading – Very easy.

Personally, the premise sounded great, but the story didn't grab me. I really didn't like Marcy; she wasn't my kind of character at all. She was selfish, self-absorbed and I couldn't relate to her at all.

So at the end of the first chapter, my thoughts were: I don't like Marcy. She's a slut. There, I said it. I like the writers style and ability, but the continual crass words belong in an erotica story. Which is not how it's advertised. It's called a 'romantic comedy'. So far, nothing funny, nothing romantic. With unlikable characters. I looked forward to meeting Jess, until I met him, and then I realized that he was as one-dimensional as Marcy was.

Premise -

Marcy used to be a wild 'will screw anyone, anywhere, anyhow' kind of girl. Then she married Jess, the Geek. After 6 years, one dream and the suspicion that her husband is more withdrawn 'though he's always been withdrawn' and spending longer hours working (downstairs in their house with the door closed, shock! And more weekend trips away), Marcy jumps to the assumption that he's having an affair. To me, it sounds like a desperate sex maniac clutching at straws to explain why her sex life with her husband petered away into oblivion, no matter what tricks she tried to tempt him with.

Also, there are two covers for this book – for the two different release dates. Neither one adequately portrays the book so far.

Marcy is a bit lame, in my opinion. She ends up throwing herself at her neighbor just because he gives her some attention. And I mean just about getting on his lap kind of throwing. Although she can't accept the thought of her husband being with someone else, even just touching them (it gives her 'physical pain'), she doesn't mind letting the sleazy neighbor feel her up in her own driveway. More than just a grope guys, this was like, seriously 'I want you in my bed' touching up.

It may just be that I'm one of those old fashioned people who doesn't believe in cheating on someone you love – even if you're not actually with them at the time. It may be that I class cheating as the following: emotional love, touching of any kind that is more than accidental or casual, kissing and most definitely sex of any form. But to me, I find Marcy boring, pathetic and an all round unlikeable character.

I had hoped that with the prospect of Marcy spying on Jess, to discover if he was cheating and who with, the story would improve. Unfortunately, this aspect of the story that was so promising, was sort of skimmed over. It could have been done a lot differently and extended, but it just sort of seems to be a side-bar to the whole Marcy-crisis thing.

It was also a little off-putting having a paragraph at the end of the chapters, which was basically an Author's Note. It broke the story. I also didn't like that the author made them sound as if it was a lecture, or a life lesson she was giving, relating us all to Marcy's situation. It sort of annoyed me to hear someone trying to tell me that I knew what Marcy was going through because we'd all been there. It's not true for me, and I didn't like it, or the little laughing at her own jokes, in parentheses. It just felt really wrong, within the story.

Sadly, this book just wasn't for me. But I've seen rave reviews for this author and for this book, so there's obviously something I'm missing that other people see.

Got an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I checked my mail I got a message from Mickey asking for me to review her work. I gladly accepted and I she didn't disappoint. Though it was a short read, I enjoyed it.

This is a story about a Marcy and Jess who's having some marital issues. Marcy thought of a way to "solve" their problem in a rather spy-ish way.

MARCY

Marcy has an appetite for wild, hot, all-night-long rump in the sack before she met Jess, now she's a faithful wife. She devised a plan to catch her husband in the act and to bring their relationship to an end or mend it.

JESS

Jess is a geek with gargantuan sized brain, he made money from the software he made. He was focused and may have neglected his wife but in the end he got his head out of his @$$ and see straight (even though he is nearsighted).

there are somethings I'm not really into with; I didn't expect it to be such a short read. The story itself was just four chapters short, I thought it would be a little longer. I wish the situation with

Mickey, thank you for the opportunity to read and review your work. Good luck in your career!

Marcy Buenaventure Margate is married to a Geek named Jess Margate. Marcy is worried abut her geek husband . Is he not attracted to her anymore? When they make love it is always sweet and easy. Lately, they haven't been making love at all. Marcy misses the days of wild sex with many different partners. Is she willing to give up what she has with Jess to get that back? Should she go out and have an affair to get back at him? Is he cheating on her? What is Jess hiding from Marcy? You have to read GEEKUS INTERRUPTUS to find out! I'm not telling!

One night, Marcy has enough of these feelings and lets Jess have it! She wants answers and she wants them now. He lets her have at it and after she teases him and screams at him and drives him wild with desire, she walks away leaving him speechless. How he acts after that drives Marcy even crazier!

Even though this novella was only forty pages, it packed a punch! I was mad at Jess and was like, Geez, if Geeks cheat what does that mean for the rest of us?? I was instantly caught up in Marcy and Jess' marriage and had to find out how they were going to get past this. I really liked the characters in GEEKUS INTERRUPTUS and love Mickey's style of writing! This is my first read by Mickey Corrigan but it won't be my last! A very strong four stars for me! If you are looking for a quick funny read you can't go wrong with GEEKUS INTERRUPTUS.

One of the best things about being a reviewer for Romance Junkies is the vast number of new-to-me authors that I get to read. There is nothing more thrilling to me than finding a writer whose work I can instantly fall in love with. Mickey J. Corrigan is one of those authors for me. Her latest novella GEEKUS INTERRUPTUS is a juicy erotic story that is impossible to put down.

Marcy Margate is so caught up in the day to day trappings of life that at first she doesn’t really notice that her husband Jess seems to be living a double life. When all of the signs point to an affair, Marcy takes action and plans to try and catch Jess in the arms of another woman.

Feeling sexually neglected, Marcy almost gives into an affair of her own with her amorous neighbor. Remembering how much Jess means to her keeps her from doing so.

Jess Margate is a brilliant software magnate and he spends twelve hours a day in front of a computer screen. At night he is withdrawn and aloof and he doesn’t seem to even notice that Marcy exists. Is Jess really having an affair or is there something else that is keeping him occupied?

In today's world geek's rule, well not all geek's as let's face it there is still those absolutely drop dead gorgeous to go weak in the knees for hot hunks, but yes the world of geek's have made their mark on woman of today.

For some they simply go after the geek because he has the money, but in the new read from author Mickey J. Corrigan she tells the story of how a hotter than hot wild and crazy bombshell falls for a geek and it has everything to do with the man himself and nothing to do with his money.

Only after six years of bliss she finds her darling geek withdrawing from her, spending less time with her and giving her little to zero attention, she comes to the conclusion that he must be cheating.

Now she has three options, one take the geek for all he is worth, two start a sizzling hot affair with the sexy neighbour or three get her geek back in her bed! It all comes down to decisions and thankfully she makes the right one and decides to do a little spy work of her own, but in the end she will be the one getting the shock of her life!

The characters of Marcy and Jess were both written well, the author gave me as reader the perfect description for Marcy, I could clearly see her as this wild and sexy woman who loves to get down and dirty yet has changed her ways for the man she loves. I liked that the author gave her a quirky, crazy side when it comes to her man. It showed that the love of a good man can change even the worst of people.

Jess was of course nothing like the hero's we find in the romance reads of today, he is not rippled with muscles nor does he have the looks that can get any kind of woman to simply fall into bed with him, he is just a plain old hard working geek, sounds pretty boring right, well to be honest this character was just that boring! But also a little bit mysterious and that gave him that certain little bit of power to draw you in and wanting to know just what he is up to and with who!

The backdrop settings were average, kind of just blending in with the situation the characters find themselves in, and most of the scenes were played out in the couple's home, I would have liked the author to give a little bit more description as to what exactly the characters are seeing around them, yes it is a short read coming in at only four chapters but still a little more attention to detail would have been great.

The dialogue was kept light but with a swear word here and there when the characters get a little stir crazy. I also found myself smiling at the silly lines Marcie throws at Jess every no and then.

The sexual content was not of the high level erotica kind nor of the sugar sweet kind more of a touch and go, making it a bit of a hit and miss in both the sexy and sensual department, as it goes the route of hot and heavy but does not fully make it there , thus not letting me as reader really be able to pick up on the true emotions of the characters, not a major problem but with half the read focusing on why exactly these two got together the full on explosive sex would have let me into their minds just that touch more.

This is perfect for a quick afternoon read, when your looking for a little something different. A fun and quirky look at a wild and crazy Barbie meeting her own computer geek, with a totally unexpected funny ending!

The author shows definite potential for writing great reads that will make a impact.

I don’t usually start book reviews by gushing over cover art, but in this case I just can’t help myself. The cover of this book is just everything. It so perfectly fits what’s inside this book that it’s just ridiculous. It pulled me in and made me want to read this book!
What was inside was just as fun, lighthearted and funny. Mickey Corrigan’s writing style has a sense of humor that I really appreciate. Loads of sarcasm and wit make her voice unique and she knows who her characters are. Marcy, our heroine isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, yet she’s relatable and likable in a way I didn’t know she could be. I was right there with her as she agonized over her husband’s possible affair, going from states of denial, anger and sadness. Her geek husband Jess was adorable in his own way and I liked that he was an actual nerd … not an intelligent hunk (and there IS a difference). He wasn’t huge and muscular, not an alpha in any way. yet his sweetness and intelligence were refreshing, which I think is why this new trend of nerdy heroes is so popular. Aside from the romantic comedy aspect of this story, there was also a heavy dose of erotic play that heated things up.

All in all, a fun and sassy read that I could see myself picking up again when I have an afternoon to spare and a craving for a few laughs and a hot, romantic romp.

Marcy Margate is hot, hot, hot, and she married a certified genius. When things start to cool off in the bedroom, Marcy gets worried Jess is having an affair. Marcy contemplates sleeping with her neighbor to get back at Jess, but then realizes it would be a bad idea…unless she gets proof of Jess’ affair. So Marcy goes to a spy shop and gets audio and video recording devices to help her catch him in the act. Yet nothing is as it seems to be and Marcy’s in for an interesting ride as she tries to determine the reason for her Geekus Interruptus.

‘Geekus Interruptus’ is a cute short story about one woman’s drive to determine what has made her marriage cool off in the passion department. Marcy is a hilarious character and reading about her plans made me laugh out loud. Especially when she realizes the truth behind Jess’ odd behavior (and it’s nothing like she thinks!). ‘Geekus Interruptus’ is a sweet geek romance and comedy in one. A fun and easy read, without a lot of graphic scenes, I think ‘Geekus Interruptus’ is a story many people will love!

What happens when a not so bright but beautiful woman misinterprets her husband's waning interest? Misunderstanding abound and hilarity ensues. That's what.

Written in a very tongue in cheek style, we meet Marcy, a pampered but bored housewife who makes her her mind that her geek of a husband must be having an affair because of his lack of interest in their physical life. I have to admit that all things pointed to an affair in my book. But does she confront him with her suspicions? Of course not. Instead she sets about getting to the bottom of the situation a la Harriet the Spy and this is where in my book hilarity ensues.

I'm not sure if it was the intent of the author for this novella to tickle the funny bone, but boy did it. I found it to be a short, interesting read and just what I needed on a sunny day sitting by the pool. I can't wait to see what else Ms. Corrigan will come up with next.

Geekus Interruptus is a funny short story that deals with the totally different expectation between Jess, the Geek husband and his beautiful wife Marcy. It is told from Marcy's point of view as she worries that Jess is cheating on her. He isn't interested in sex with her, he is gone on unexplained business trips on weekends and seems distracted even when he is home, often going to his home office and closing the door on her for hours. The lengths she goes to as the reader listens to how her mind works is really funny; when she imagines the worst, she still love she husband and the conclusion when he admits what he has been doing blows her away. You will just have to read it to find out if her suspicions were correct; is he cheating on her or not?

[SPOILER]

And it turns out that the cheater is she!
Is it not being unfaithful to flirt with your neighbor and let him touch you and eat your breasts? It's REPULSIVE to read, above, how this idiot is excited and debated, really MUCH, about whether to lie down IN HIS OWN HOUSE (Yes, in which he lives with the Hero) with the neighbor or not, because it makes her very horny. And when he finally decides to back down, it reads how it cost him horrors not to give in. Because like the past, before marrying the Hero, she slept with everyone, justifies her action / reaction for that wild life she had.
Unpleasant is to fall short.
I imagine that neighbor what he will think every time he meets the Hero ... Very humiliating.

Well, Marce, what about you shut the fuck up and STOP BEING AN ASSHOLE? YOU RUDE BITCH" 42 páginas de idioteces sobre como el "amor geek" es aburrido, negligente y un montón de cosas más estúpidas que las anteriores, intentando ser salvadas con un "pero lo amo tanto" NO, MARCE, NO LO HACES.

El odio en mi corazón después de esto no se me quita ni con tres ave marias.

A quick rundown: Marcy has it all, young, rich, looks, popular, and is married to a real life Geek. She loves her husband but thinks he is cheating on her and in turn she is tempted by the rich hunky neighbor. What does she do? Cheat? Is her Hubby having an affair? Read this to find out it’s a fast fun read!
I really like the character Marcy. She is well described and I could feel her pain and understand how she felt. I would have liked more about her husband all we really knew was he was a geek, nothing much else. I felt the term geek was overused, and would have liked to had more on their life and more of her husband than just this term. However I found the story easy to follow, and quite fun to read. I think it was a great Romance with a happy ending.

Recommendations: If you like, loving relationships, story of trying to rekindle a romance, Happy ever after, and of course Geeks You will love this!

☆☆☆

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I gave Geekus Interrputus 3 stars and here is why:

I Kind of wanted it to be longer, I’m not sure the story suited being such a short novella because as soon as the plot kicked in, it was over and everything was smelling like roses. I wanted more drama.

Geek’s are very sexy, no-one can deny this fact but I just don’t know whether Jesse hit the jackpot for me, he was too much of a wet blanket. Marcy on the otherhand was pretty awesome, she had a vibe about her that made her relatable to the majority of women out there – She was a little insecure but when it came down to something she wanted, she was fierce.

Mickey did a great job at creating a humorous story with some really great ideas but it wasn’t perfect and there a few things I would definitely change if I had the chance too.

Sinceramente no me gustó.

It had so much potential. But it just fell short. Mainly because it's too short. But I loved the pacing. The heroine was very much likable and pretty funny. It could have been so much better if this was a normal length novel. The plot itself was very interesting and refreshing... Nevertheless, I'd still recommend it.
