ARC received for review

Overall average 3 stars

Reno's Chance - 2 stars - too short, there was just something missing

For Maggie's Sake - 4 stars - read this one before, and I still like it

Atlanta Heat - 4 stars - great story, but she gets kidnapped from her bed and when he rescues her she's still in a skirt...what?

Night Hawk - 2 stars - total tease for their book later in the series

Cooper's Fall - 4 stars - Cooper is my favorite guy out of these books. He's just perfect Sarah and what all she's been through

Sheila's Passion - 3 stars - Friends with benefits that lead to more. Now there's a bad guy who really doesn't make an appearance, but is in the shadows for the other three friends books.....here's the issue there's only one more book written, where are the other two?

Taken is a collection of novellas from the Elite Ops, Tempting Seals and Wounded Warriors Series, some of Lora Leigh`s most popular works.
There are 6 stories;
Reno`s Chance
For Maggie`s Sake
Atlanta Heat
Night Hawk
Cooper`s Fall
Sheila`s Passion
As I read these I remembered every reason why I like her books, why these series are some of the best military alpha hot ones out there and why Wild Card (Nathan) is a tattered dog eared paperback from being reread so many times.
My favourite man, oops sorry story, of this collection was Ethan Cooper in Cooper`s Fall. Cooper was just to die for, from his physical description to his protective alpha tendencies to his hot steaminess I was lost all the way. I loved him and Sarah as a couple and as a story but in my dreams this week Cooper is mine.
Night Hawk was the only one that didn`t engage me, Black Jack the book was good but not in this taster in my opinion.
That being said Lora Leigh does love and lust with pure alpha dominant men better than most, she has you hooked start to finish with each book. Either as a small dip your toe into her writing book or a catch up with much loved characters and series book Taken works and is a good addition to her library.
If you haven`t tried her Breed Series then you should, it`s a must have, awesome series!

Reno's Chance (Tempting SEALS #1) 2 Stars!
I think this was my least favorite of these stories. The story itself was super short, so not only was the instalove strong, you had to take a lot of Reno and Raven's connection on faith. Plus, this one was way too obsessed with Raven's "gushing juices" and I wish a different descriptor had been used. I did like(?) the fact that Reno knew why Raven had the issues she did and how it connected to her parents relationship and he admitted he wanted to show her that they weren't her parents.
For Maggie's Sake (Tempting SEALS #3) 3 Stars!
This one upped the danger a bit, more than Reno's Chance anyway. There was some referral back to what I'm thinking was book 2, and I'll admit it has me curious about things so I might go pick that up so I can better understand this one. Overall feelings on this are...mixed. I liked the second chance aspect of Joe and Maggie and the two of them realizing they'd hated walking away before. That being said, I feel like a lot of their issues from before was because Maggie claimed to understand Joe had a job to do but then didn't want to actually understand when presented with evidence. Granted, there was some conversation where she told Joe that she wasn't willing to give more than he was, which I get, and that was actually a good conversation to have. But it seemed like a lot of their issues/reason for breaking up was tied into Maggie being mad that he had a date to an event that wasn't her. He told her he didn't know she was going to be there, and it's not like he could have called and said "Hey, I have to take this girl out for an assignment but if you're not okay with it, I just go tell my bosses I can't do it."
Atlanta Heat (Tempting SEALS #6) 3 Stars!
This one was interesting and I liked the connection between Em and Macey. Like the others, it was short but I didn't feel like this one had as hard a time selling you on the connection between Macey and Em. Macey was a little caveman-y but for Em, that was what she needed because she was so wrapped up in the way things had been she didn't want to see that it could be another way. I liked the conversations the two of them had/the reveals on their connections to their family. I liked that Macey didn't even blink when he talked about bringing her to his reunion and his family didn't either, beyond making sure he couldn't sneak into her room at night. The reveal on the big bad was a little disappointing, only because it felt like it came out of nowhere. Granted, this is a novella, but I would have liked a little more on how the bad guy became the bad guy and everything.
Night Hawk (Elite Ops #1.5) ??? Stars
This one is kind of hard to rate because it was like 15 pages so there wasn't really time to form much of an opinion. Travis and Lillian seem like there's a connection and potential but this scene was basically them talking about a job and then jumping into bed but we don't even see that.
Cooper's Fall (Wounded Warriors #1) 3 Stars!!
The opening scene was definitely interesting. I would have liked more on Cooper's past; we know he's ex-military and he's out due to a bullet in the knee. And we know that he's supposedly a bad guy, but it seemed like he cared about his friends. And while it was a eye-rolling way to go about it, especially when he had no intention (at the time) of doing anything, the fact that he was trying to protect Sarah in that roundabout way was interesting. I did like that once he realized his thing had snowballed the wrong direction, he did his best to correct it. Sarah was pretty great as well. The reveal on her past shed some light on things, but I'll admit I would have liked more because that's a pretty significant deal. Plus the fact that when the reveal happened at the end and she was talking about having to run again, but there hadn't been any indication that she'd had to run previously beyond the one instance that brought her to town. The fact that she knew Cooper from before was intriguing.
Sheila's Passion (Wounded Warriors #2) 3 Stars!!
While I liked the connection between Sheila and Casey, it got overshadowed by these two being gigantic idiots. Sheila refused to see that maybe Nick wasn't like her last relationship. Nick just took too long to acknowledge that he was okay settling down and settling down with Sheila specifically (at least whatever settling down looks like for him). I did like that Cooper and friends have their little covert ops stuff going on although even with having just read Cooper's Fall, I wish there'd been a little more explanation; it was sort of hinted at that they may have left the military but hadn't exactly stopped working, but I would have liked a little more explanation. The end was a little weird in that I felt like the reason(s) for targeting Sheila were out of nowhere. The end seemed to hint that there's more to come, but I think this series got stopped/stalled? Not sure if I want to continue, even to see the others though.

This book consisted of six short stories, the first three being part of the Tempting Seals series. Overall, this wasn’t my cup of tea type stories. The plots, if there were plots, were difficult to follow, but maybe that was the point?
Reno’s Chance was about Reno, a Seal, and him being after Raven or was it the other way around? It was enough trying to get that Clint is Raven’s brother and Morganna is Reno’s sister.
For Maggie’s Sake, the third book of the series (skipped #2) mentioned about the Fuentes organization. This is where the plot gets lost. This is some type of crime family that keeps getting mentioned in the books but makes things too complicated. Maggie used to date Joe Merino, a friend of her husband, but her husband has died. Maggie broke up with Joe when she saw him at an event she was writing about for a newspaper with another woman. He was actually working; the woman was related to some sort of crime boss. Anyway, Maggie goes and marries Joe’s best friend from the police force, Grant. But Grant is involved in the Fuentes organization, gets himself killed, and Maggie is being interregated assuming she knows about the crimes against women that have taken place. A mention of Morganna Chavez from the previous book says she was one of the women murdered? But no details and her name comes up again in a future book so this is just par for the course. So in order to protect Maggie, Joe takes her to a secluded cabin and to make a long story short, Maggie never loved Grant, Joe always loved Maggie, the crime family gets caught (at least some of them), but in the process Joe’s classic ‘69 car gets riddled with bullets. And why does the author have to bother mentioning Joe had a first wife?!
Atlanta Heat focuses on Mason “Macey” March and Emerson Delaney. Macey must protect Emerson in his “cave”, a glorified basement/safe room in his home that’s secured from the outside world. Emerson, goddaughter of Admiral Holloran, has been rescued from a kidnapping by Sorrell, a terrorist who is still after the Seal team. Quick background info mentioned that Macey and Emerson are already in love with each other, so it wasn’t too long before they got together. A few days into hiding, Pierce Landry, the Admiral’s executive aide, breaks in. He was working for the terrorists that wanted to kill Emerson. Macey’s anaconda attacks anyone with a gun, so Pierce is killed but so is the snake. A couple weeks later Macey presents Emerson with a ring...their birthstones intertwined. No diamonds for a girl he wants forever?!
Night Hawk is a code name for Lillian Belle. Black Jack (Travis) is an agent outside her unit. They both signed up for what is called Elite Operations, “suicide missions” to help capture terrorists? For some reason, it seems they were forced to sign up. Why, can’t figure it out. The information Lillian needs to get to Black Jack is about Sorrell, again. The daughter of Jansen Clay, Risa, who was institutionalized, is starting to remember things about her kidnapping and rape. Someone named Orion has taken out a contract to get her killed. And that’s it! Was this even considered a story?!? It’s not even filling in any story.
Cooper’s Fall focuses on Ethan Cooper and Sarah Fox. For two years, Sarah has lived next door to Cooper in the small Texas town. Sarah has always helped Cooper by bringing him food when he hurt his knee (he’s a Ranger) but has always kept her distance. Eventually though, Sarah gets frustrated with the small town, not finding someone to love, even being treated differently in Cooper’s bar. Cooper tells Sarah the truth about wanting her, and even though Cooper is the bad boy, he falls head over heals for Sarah. The twist in the story is Sarah is the daughter of a mafia boss. She had been taken a long time ago by one of her father’s enemies, resulting in scars and a sense of danger. She thinks everyone, including her father, has died, but he actually finds her, asks for forgiveness, and a second chance. He will probably move to the town. So I guess not even a life sentence for the killer dad?
Sheila’s Passion starts out with background information that completely confused me, and I don’t even know why it had to be mentioned. So Giovanni Fredrico, Sarah’s dad(?), apparently married for love after the death of his first wife. He severed the family ties. Blame was put on the son, Beau Fredrico. So wouldn’t Sarah know who her brother is and what he looks like? Because Nick Casey is Beau. (?)Or maybe the guy who dated Sheila before and just wanted a job through her father? So confusing!
So Nick and Sheila are an item. Casey is part of the security team at Cooper’s bar. They gather information that may be of interest to Sheila’s father, army captain of the southern section of the Covert Information Network. Sheila delivers the info to her father. So the only excitement and silliness of this story I got was Sheila wants Nick to tell her he loves her, but he’s playing his games, and he thinks Sheila is playing her games. He doesn’t tell her he loves her until the guy she used to date runs her off the road and hits her(?) with Nick and Cooper’s minuns racing after them.
Okay, so I have to stop this ranting with one last overall thought. These stories, whatever, should in no way shape or form be taken as what a girl should be striving for in real life. I cringed every time the first time any one of these couples said the words I love you was when they were fooling around. They didn’t even know each other! How could they know they loved each other? Why did they love each other? What terrible stories these are for the meaning of what love is supposed to be!

Lora Leigh has compiled a book of some of my favorite books in some of my favorite series that she has written in the past. I was thrilled to have revisited with some of the people that brought me to the Adult Erotic genre. Was I disappointed that I didn’t get to spend some time with The Men of August or with the Callahan’s, yes …. but, she brought a smile to my face with her Seal’s, Elite Ops and Wounded Warriors.
It’s impossible to review each of the books listed in the Overview. So, let’s cut to the chase. Each of the books listed are part of different series … just a little to whet your whistle, so to speak, maybe to get you interested in reading the rest of the books in each of them. Lora pulls you into each story with love, lust and intrigue. She’s a master at writing a story that pulls you in and has you turning the pages wondering what is going to happen next. Nothing that I have read of Ms. Leigh’s has ever disappointed me … from the Elite Ops to the Nauti Series, she has always held my interest. I adore the way her characters come alive and feed off of each other. She has a way with words that will leave you breathless, a way with words that leaves you wanting more. You’re seduced by the men and know why the women they have set their sights on fall for them. You also understand why some of them fight it as well … not everyone can handle the dominance of a Navy Seal, or an Elite Op. Mystery, intrigue, love, lust … it’s all out there waiting in “Taken”.

This collection of shorts come from the romantic suspense/action-adventure series LL can't stop writing. The theme here is unstoppable, formidable hot, hot, hot superhero type alpha has no defense against a female that decides she's his for the taking, or the asking.. All of her, no matter the odds, the obstacles or the amount of sex that must be had to achieve the goal. While each has its own star rating, none have a separate review.

Each was relatively fast paced and stand-alone reads but depending on their placement in the series they may call on other characters linking it back to the series. One series, I had yet to read, another I was able to follow the story with no problem and the third has it's first two installments as part of this collection.

As with most anthologies, there is both wheat and chaff among the covers as these sexy couples with varying degrees of chemistry can't stay away from each other.

Taken is a good collection to sample Ms. Leigh's erotic suspense writing.  For those who are interested in her Elite Ops or Tempting SEALs series, this is the book to read. In each one of these novella, Ms. Leigh brings together a tough military man and a tempting sweet woman. When romance readers want alpha males and women who can keep up with an alpha male, Ms. Leigh is the go to author.

I thoroughly enjoyed each of the six stories in this collection. The stories are tightly written with a beginning, middle and end. There are some references to the two series mentioned so for those who haven't read the series, they may not get as much out of the story. It will encourage them to try both series because they are smoking hawt and fast paced.

From a plot perspective, there are a couple of plot holes in couple of the stories. Rather than give away the spoilers, I'll just indicate the heroine's response to a situation didn't make sense to me. This is because I couldn't understand how she could have lacked the information to make a good decision. This aside, the world building is good as it paints a clear picture if romantic picture of those in the military or law enforcement. This romantic suspense anthology is recommended for women who love a man in uniform.

This is a collection of short stories by Lora Leigh. Some better than others...

Reno's Chance
This one is just a waste of time. Raven is annoyingly immature and I couldn't for the life of me understand what Reno saw in her. There's virtually no story, just lots of OK sex that I ended up skimming through for the most part. When they aren't doing it, one or the other of them is repeating the same old thoughts in their heads for the umpteenth time. Blah blah blah.

For Maggie's Sake

Atlanta Heat

Night Hawk

Cooper's Fall
I read this one a while ago and just enjoyed reading it again. a fun suspenceful, scrumsciously hot story about a crush from afar and a badboy who finally sees what he's been missing. But, is it in time to save her? It's a bit cheesey and def over the top, but remains one of my favourite stories by this author. Cooper is one of her top 5 heroes on my shelves, and a satisfying re-read

Caution: This book my cause spontaneous combustion.

Taken is a collection of six sizzling hot novella-length stories by Lora Leigh. Oozing sexually stimulating tales of burning hot romance, reading this book is a sure way to get your temperature rising.

I have read quite a few of these novellas separately, but now it comes in a convent collection called Taken. For Lora Leigh followers, many of these books are part of existing series, giving you more background into the works you already follow...or a teasing taste of her hot and erotic writing style.

Easy, entertaining, and erotic, Taken can warm up the chilliest of nights.

I received this ARC copy of Taken from St. Martin's Griffin in exchange for an honest review. This book is set for publication July 22, 2014.

This is a collection of Black-Ops Novellas. Lora Leigh is an excellent writer. All of these short stories fit in with all of her series other than the breeds. Although all of these were good enough to draw me into her other series, the Breeds are still my favorite & I was slightly disappointed that none of them included that series. Oh well!

If you are a Lora Leigh fan, you will HAVE to get this one too, because it's filled with tid-bits of continuing saga info. Keep in mind that Lora Leigh is a writer of Erotica and these stories are graphic.

I loved the stories, but wished one was a breeds one!!

oohhh, you know how I love a man in uniform (and when he’s out of it *wink*). This is a collection of novellas featuring heroines with fire, and heroes both military and law. Rub them together and watch the sparks explode! Mix it with intrigue and suspense and you have several hours of absorbing reading! This book includes: Reno’s Chance, For Maggie’s Sake, Atlanta Heat, Night Hawk, Cooper’s Fall & Sheila’s Passion.

Five short stories and one taster.
RENO'S CHANCE - TEMPTING SEALS 1
Enjoyable short read with no real background or getting to know these characters.
Lots of sex which is not surprising with this author but I did love the puppy present.
I did enjoy this short story and found the proposal side cute and funny.
I have read and reviewed this book before but reviews are missing.
FOR MAGGIE'S SAKE - TEMPTING SEALS 3
50% story, 50% sex.
Felt sorry for Maggie. By standing up for herself and believing in her own self-worth against Joe’s behaviour over 2 years ago, she ended up marrying his supposed best friend Grant, who really only wanted her to torment Joe.
When Grants’ deceit and treason is unveiled at his death, Maggie is once again used as a pawn.
Joe had been betrayed by his ex-wife and carried over that distrust into a relationship with Maggie. His behaviour was downright unacceptable with the hot-cold push-pull he perpetrated and he seemed surprised when Maggie walked and ignored him.
He has since realised his best friend really wasn’t who he thought and states he knew two years ago he loved her. But he did nothing to win her back and allowed her to marry Grant.
His behaviour was aggressive and alpha mine, which Maggie soon succumbed too. Pity, she didn't give him a harder time.
I have read and reviewed this book before but reviews are missing.
ATLANTA HEAT - TEMPTING SEALS 6
Macey and Emerson worked well as a couple.
Likeable plot with good characters. Had more story and less sex than previous books which I appreciated.
Sorry about Drack though, how sad.
Good story that obviously feeds on from previous books.
I had read Nathan’s story before this so have definitely read these out of order.
Have read and reviewed these books long ago, enjoyable rereading them.
NIGHT HAWK - ELITE OPS 1.5
Really just a few pages then it ends. Not even sure why it was put out by Ms Leigh.
The story is part of the Elite Ops series, a book called Black Jack.
COOPER'S FALL - WOUNED WARRIORS 1
Wonderful third time reread of this book. Previous review missing.
First read years ago in REAL MEN LAST ALL NIGHT. I really enjoyed this hot sexy tale with likeable characters.
You start off believing Sarah is this prim virgin with body piercings but boy does she have one hell of a background.
Loved all these other wounded vets characters. Pity Miss Leigh has not continued with more books in this series.
SHEILA'S PASSION - WOUNED WARRIORS 2
Two adults who both love and want the other but can’t have an honest discussion, so they play stupid games. Sheila more than Nick.
Sheila is still hung up like a teenager on a past relationship that she admits was not even love. Yes she was used by a man to get close to her father but anyone can see Nick is not like that. Yet she accuses him of that deceit.
Nick really was slow in giving any acknowledgement of how he felt for Sheila but I understood his reasoning in wanting Sheila to acknowledge that he only wanted her. Not something from her.
By the end I wanted Nick to find another woman and Sheila to stew in her stupidity. This stupidity is compounded by her not telling anyone, even her father, about all the things happening to her.
I skipped through all the sex scenes as they were prolific and to me not all needed.
The ending and the culprit (no spoiler) are not explained at all. Why did he go after Sheila?
The back story with the past was a bit annoying at times and will be continuing in the next few books I think. I know it is in book 3.
If anymore are ever written in this series. I hate when an author drops a series half way through.
Needed proofreading.

First reviewed at Red Hot Books here: http://redhotbooks.com/2014/07/review...

Ordinarily novellas or shorter stories are not my thing but I do read them if they are a part of a series I am already in to. Taken is a collection of novellas and short stories by Lora Leigh. All of these have been previously released so if they sound familiar that is why.

Reno’s Chance

This one is the first in Ms. Leigh’s Tempting Seals series and even though it is short, Raven and Reno are one of my favorite couples from the series.

Raven has been in love with her best friend’s brother since she was a teenager but she is convinced that she is too much like her mother to allow herself to be with him. While her father was away on missions as a Seal, her mother would fall apart and when he died, her mother never recovered.

Reno has known for years that Raven is in the one but he has also known that rushing her would be a mistake. He needed her to realize that she was stronger than her mother and that she would be able to survive and thrive when he was on a mission. He’s done waiting and he sets out to show Raven how good it could be between them.

The sex between these two was smoking hot and their chemistry jumped off the pages, but there was also a very sweet story there. We see some of Raven and quite a bit of Reno in future stories in the series but I would have loved to see these two get a full length book. Overall it is a satisfying and enjoyable introduction to the Tempting Seals series.

B+

For Maggie’s Sake

This story picks up after Dangerous Games and is the third in the Tempting Seals series. I don’t want to give away too much about Dangerous Games in case you haven’t read it, but the story in this one is directly related to the goings on in the previous book so it would not do well as a stand alone.

Joe Merino was a Seal and now works for the DEA. He has been in love with his best friend’s wife ever since he blew his chance to be with her. Now that Maggie Samuels’ life is in danger, he goes above and beyond to protect her, while trying to take down those that threaten her. We get to know Joe a bit in the previous book and there is only a couple of quick mentions about Maggie so it was fitting that most of the novella was surrounding their relationship as opposed to the story that drove the series. There was some of it to move it all forward but the majority of time was spent on the couple.

Overall a fast, enjoyable read but not one of my favorites of the series.

C+

Atlanta Heat

This story is the 6th in the series and I was really looking forward to getting Macey’s story after seeing him in previous books. I was slightly disappointed that it was a novella but it was still enjoyable. Mason March (Macey) is the communications guy for Reno’s Seal Team. His home is a fortress that few people are invited in to. When Emerson Delaney, the Admiral’s goddaughter is kidnapped by terrorists, Macey hides her in the one place he figures is the safest – his underground home. After lusting after her for years, Macey knows that having her in his quarters is a bad idea, but it’s the safest option for her.

Emerson has lived her life in an emotional vacuum, with her parents always preaching about duty and honor. Up until Macey, she had been sure she could live the life that she was supposed to and not let anyone close or ask for love. She doesn’t stand a chance when Macey sets his sights on seducing her.

I loved this couple. Macey is a sweet, alpha man and Emerson is a feisty, strong woman. There is a scene in the epilogue that is adorable and one of my favorites. A quick, but enjoyable story that doesn’t do a whole lot to move the overall plot of the series forward, but still serves its purpose.

B+

Night Hawk

The Elite Ops series is a spinoff of the popular Tempting Seals series and is the second book in the new series. Night Hawk is the code name for Lillian Belle, one of the female agents of the Elite Ops group. Although they have signed away twelve years of their lives in exchange for a new life with a new identity, she finds herself drawn to Black Jack, another operative. Night Hawk’s group is supposed to be limited to intelligence gathering and she hears a rumor that directly impacts Black Jack’s mission. There is no doubt that the duo are drawn to each other but both seem to accept that it is never going to happen so they settle for one kiss.

The events in this book are related to probably my favorite book in the Elite Ops series, Maverick and it sets the book up nicely. Eventually this couple gets their own full length story so I think this one was really just put out to set the rest of the series up. It was a very short freebie and it made me look forward to Black Jack as well.

B

Coopers Fall

This book is the first in the Wounded Warriors series and given the way Lora Leigh writes her Seals and other military men, I really hope this one continues! Ethan Cooper has been lusting after his prissy neighbor Sarah Fox since she moved next door, and when he looks out of his window and sees her laying in her backyard naked, he is unable to look away. After returning from the Army, Cooper opened a local bar that frequents bikers and all types of people so in his mind he thinks Sarah is way out of his league and would never be able to tolerate his sexual needs and desires.

Tired of being known as the town virgin since she relocated there, Sarah is determined to break out of that and live a little. After being the victim of a senseless crime when she was a teenager, she spent years running and has finally found a place she wants to call home. Ethan may not remember it, but the two had met before and he was the primary reason she moved to town. Now she is ready to do something about it.

Loved this couple and story. Ethan is your typical badass alpha man and sometimes comes off as overbearing but not in a way that ruins him. Sarah may be innocent in some ways but girlfriend has a bad side and she wants Ethan to help her discover it. There wasn’t a ton of suspense in the story but that is partially because it was a short one. The time was spent developing the relationship and getting to know the hero and heroine better and the sex was hot! Really enjoyed this one.

Sheila’s Passion

This story is the second in the Wounded Warriors series and given that the first two have been short stories as opposed to full length, I’m a little worried the entire series will continue that way. I’m hoping not, but even if it does I will keep reading them because I enjoy the characters that have been introduced. Nick Casey is one of the men that works at Ethan’s bar and we were briefly introduced to him in Coopers Fall.

Sheila is the daughter of the man that Cooper and his bouncers report to when they are gathering intel on criminal activity in the area. After being fooled by her first real boyfriend who was only with her to get a lucrative job from her father, Sheila is understandably wary about men that report to her father. The two dance around each other with neither willing to admit they love the other, but expecting the other to admit it.

I hadn’t read this one and I’m not sure how I missed it. It was a great story, I loved the two leads and I really enjoyed the set up for future books in this series.

As this is a collection of five novellas and a short story, I will keep the reviews short. I must say that Ms. Leigh writes great sex and I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. It serves as a great sample of her work and it definitely left me wanting more, especially from her Wounded Warriors series.

Reno's Chance (Tempting SEALS #1) – 5 stars
I have to say that I quite enjoyed the twist in this story. So often it is the girl chasing the hot Navy SEAL, while waiting for him to realize that he loves her. But not this time. Reno knows he loves Raven and was waiting for her to get old enough to pursue and has now spent the last six years trying to convince her of what he already knows … that she is his. He’s professed his love, but his choice of career is what keeps her from giving in to her heart and body. Thank goodness for hormones and a determined 6ft+ Navy SEAL. H.O.T. HOT!!! This is a great story with really sexy scenes that I have added to my re-read list.

For Maggie – 5 stars
Wow! Poor Maggie. Poor Joe. That was one seriously hot tale of betrayal. Maggie’s husband (now dead, thankfully) was a grade-A @$$hole. He left “evidence” incriminating her in his crimes, putting her life at risk and placing her under suspicion with the authorities, including the man she loved, Joe. Because Grant fooled Joe and the rest of the law enforcement personnel they worked with, Joe refuses to trust his judgment when it comes to Maggie and treats her like a suspect. Thanks to Grant’s subterfuge, Maggie has a price on her head and Joe takes her to a safe house to protect her and to learn the truth. They quickly realize that two years apart haven’t lessened their feelings toward one another, but because of the mistrust, they fight their attraction valiantly. Thus assuring an intensely passionate reunion when they can no longer fight their feelings … and it was oh, so good … repeatedly. Joe and Maggie have some seriously hot chemistry and the law enforcement aspects of the story made For Maggie an excellent read.

Atlanta Heat (Tempting SEALS #6) – 5 stars
Seriously, how can you not love a self-proclaimed boob man? Especially when said love gets Macey busted down a rank when his commanding officer catches him in a compromising position with Em, the Admiral’s goddaughter. This a great read featuring a hot as sin Navy SEAL, a kidnap and rescue situation, an anaconda (and no, that’s not a euphemism, I mean an actual snake), and a safe house that might have a top-notch security system that apparently lacks a fire alarm because the sparks that were flying between Macey and Em should have set it off … many times over. But Macey has his work cut out for him because not only does he have to insure Em’s safety, he also has to convince her that her heart is safe with him. Mission accepted.

Night Hawk (Elite Ops #1.5) – 4 stars
This is a REALLY short story. It felt like more of a chapter than a short story. There’s definite chemistry between Night Hawk and Black Jack, but there’s really not much that happens in this particular story. It’s definitely a teaser. Ms. Leigh, that was just cruel. But I’m certainly interested in reading more of this story, so I’d say the author accomplished her mission.

Cooper's Fall (Wounded Warriors #1) - 5 stars
Oh my! Ethan Cooper is one seriously hot alpha male. I so enjoyed the scene with which Ms. Leigh opened Cooper's story ... it was certainly stimulating. Of all of the male leads in this anthology, I think Cooper may be my favorite. When he stops avoiding Miss Sarah and decides to give in to his attraction to Sarah, oh my goodness, I don't even know a word that can properly illustrate how much I enjoyed those scenes. But as Cooper admits his feelings and Sarah becomes his Sair, his hotness factor goes through the roof. There was an unexpected twist to the story that I didn't see coming, but gave Cooper the chance to prove to Sarah how much she meant to him. This is a definite reread for me and I'm looking forward to the next & final story in this anthology as it is the sequel to Cooper's Fall and I'm hoping Ethan & Sarah make an appearance.

Sheila's Passion (Wounded Warriors #2) - 5 stars
I wasn't expecting the focus of the series to shift to Beau, Sarah's brother, and it definitely increased the suspense component of the series. Someone has decided that Beau needs to pay for turning his back on The Family. The problem is that the someone isn't sure which of the four men in Cooper's employ with "new" histories is Beau. So while Sheila and Casey (one of the four) find themselves in a precarious point in their relationship, Sheila becomes the bait as the someone attempts to force Casey's hand in a way that would reveal him as Beau. All the while, Sheila and Casey are fighting for the same thing, but both are too obstinate to see it. This make for some great reading as they take their passion to the bedroom. I'll just say that Casey makes angry sex look REALLY appealing. I am disappointed to learn that it doesn't appear that the next book in this series is available yet as I was really looking forward to learning Beau's new identity.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

It is so rare for me to give out one stars but I genuinely think this is a book that calls for it. I want to share that this book had so many issues as respectfully as I can. If you are into instant love and gratification with little to no back story then yes this book is for you. If you enjoy steamy romance with a backstory and other aspects than adult content with developed characters this book is not for you. Personally I will not be picking up any books by this author again. It was hell trying to get through this book.

Taken is a combo of a few series short stories. They are a great way to tease you and pull you into the series. They are all short reads with a lot of spice. If you love that military alpha Male. These are for you. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. These women are no blushing brides. They are just as fierce and strong as the men they want. Each novella could honestly be turned into their own full length novel easily.

This was so bad, why did I finish it?!

I got this as an audiobook on Libby, and I should have dropped it after Atlanta Heat. No spoiler, but there's a section from the POV of a snake that hates guns and will attack anyone with one. Like WTF? That's only the third of six stories, if you count the fourth, which is so short it's basically flash fiction. I cannot believe I finished this. I want those hours of my life back!

Lora Leigh did a great job of combining a lot of short stories into one lovely steamy heated book I would recommend it for anybody that is short on time and wants to just do one short story at a time or just once a good collective hot steamy multiples.
Big alpha males with independent woman is always a fun story

This should not have been a book. It felt like you were reading the author's ideas for books and all those ideas revolved around sex. Well except the last one that has some weird long winded nonsense about revenge and families lives being destroyed and how they were going to end someone. Waste of time.

Some very HOT stories, some like the second one...I can't recall what it was about. I am not a big fan of the SEAL/OPS and wounded warriors genre of stories, but most of these kept my interest .

This is the first book I've read by Lora Leigh although I had heard of her and have several books of hers in my Kindle wish list. Well, I'm sold. This book contains 6 novellas, some of which I gather have been published previously as standalone or in compilations, and provides a chance to dip in to her style and see whether you want to try other books. 5 out of the 6 novellas appear to be from larger series' the author has written so now based on which characters and stories I liked best I know where to go next.

Reno’s Chance is from the Tempting SEALs collection. Raven has had her eyes on her friend's brother Reno, a SEAL, for years but having seen her parents marriage struggle and her mother crippled by the loss of her father in service, she doesn't want that pain for herself and fights off all Reno's advances, until one night. Not the most exciting story, just focuses on him convincing her to be with him but Reno is delicious, I could eat him up. Worth reading just to drool over him.

For Maggie's Sake is from a compilation by various authors called Real Men Do It Better. Maggie is in custody suspected of having information about her husbands criminal activities. Joe, her ex-lover, and DEA agent is in two minds as to whether she knows anything. Maggie needs to be protected from the men who worked with her husband and Joe uses the opportunity to seduce her. I the Joe was a bit of an ass, using the position she's in to get what he wants. This is my least favourite novella in this book.

Atlanta Heat is from the Tempting SEALs collection. Em and Macey have been lusting after each other for ages but her godfather, who is SEAL Macey's commander is against them being together. Em is kidnapped and Macey's team is called in to rescue her. She is hidden away under Macey's protection until a possible mole is found. Wow, Macey, hello. He's hot as the protective SEAL taking no nonsense from her as he rescues her and he takes no prisoners in the bedroom. I loved Macey's naked tussle with the mole for some reason, I think it was the mix of hot post sex body jumping unquestioning into protector mode. My only issue is the part where it's from Drack, his snake (a real one not an innuendo), perspective.

Night Hawk if from the Elite Ops series.
Travis “Black Jack” Caine and Lillian “Night Hawk” Belle work for separate Elite Ops units. She specialises in information gathering and passes it to him for his team to deal with. They only know each other by code name. Any interaction between them besides professionally is not condoned but they can no longer stop themselves. This novella was too short, I need more! The potential plot had me excited and both characters were intriguing.

Cooper’s Fall is from the Wounded Warriors series. Former ranger Ethan owns The Broken Bar where all staff are former military. The bar fronts Cooper's team gathering information from the sometimes less than savoury visitors. From his attic window he sees Sarah in her garden, she has the reputation of being a "staid little virgin" but what he sees suggests differently. He's a bad boy, not for a girl like her but he soon discovers she can give as well as she gets and she has experienced more of the dark side of life than he thinks. I like Sarah, what spunk, stands up to Cooper and takes no nonsense. She knows what she wants and will get it. There is something highly erotic about Cooper watching Sarah and fantasizing about her.

Sheila’s Passion is from Wounded Warriors series. Ex-Marine, Nick, works for Cooper. Sheila is the go between between The Broken Bar and their commander who happens to also be her father. Nick and Sheila are explosive together but both are stubborn. Both have been burned before and are playing a game of cat and mouse making each other miserable rather than just admitting they want more than sex. Danger forces their hands into admitting their feelings. I do have a thing for both male and female lead characters been military or some sort, both strong and loyal, both sharing a mission

After reading this book, I have now bought the complete Elite ops and Tempting SEALs collections and I will also look out for more Wounded Warriors books. If you want to dip your toe into the writing of Lora Leigh, this is a great start.

This book comes out 07/22/2014. It appears to be a collection of previously released short stories and novellas. I don't think it's any secret to say that when you are talking about Lora Leigh, you're talking about alpha heroes, kinky potentially BDSM sex, and likely some element of non-con.

Reno's Chance (Tempting SEALs #1)
Reno and Raven have been in love with and dancing around each other for years, she's been avoiding him because of his kink and his career as a SEAL and he's just finally pursuing her because in his alpha-ness he's finally decided she's "grown-up" enough.

For Maggie's Sake (Tempting SEALs #3)
Maggie and Joe were once a couple and he basically dumped her by showing up with another woman on his arm. Later she ends up a widow with a price on her head and the authorities breathing down her neck due to get dead husband's misdeeds, and Joe ends up guarding her and trying to get information from her. Joe's a little more emotionally open than the average alpha hero.

Atlanta Heat (Tempting SEALs #6)
Macey is a real dog but he's been avoiding Emerson for two years because she's the one woman he wants most. Emerson is his admiral's goddaughter and despite the fact that the admiral knows how Macey feels toward her, when she's kidnapped he sends Macey to get her back and hide her.

Night Hawk (Elite Ops #1.5)
Lillian Belle AKA Night Hawk and Black Jack have both signed their lives away for 12 years to Elite Ops for a second chance to live. This is an incredibly short story that's merely a teaser for the series. It really had nothing of plot and very little of characterization. It teases about what might be a very interesting worlds and concept, but I find myself irritated because this is already available for free.

Cooper's Fall (Wounded Warriors #1)
Ex-Army Ranger Ethan Cooper is the town bad boy and bar owner. Timid Sarah Fox is as naughty on the inside as she is prim on the outside, and man does she have some secrets. It's a very sweet, sexy, naughty romance.

Sheila's Passion (Wounded Warriors #2)
Sheila and Casey have a major problem with communication. It doesn't help that both their jobs and their lives have exacerbated the issue. So it takes some extreme danger to force these two hard headed individuals to the sticking point.

Overall, I really enjoyed this collection and i am rating it 4 stars. I don't think I had read many of them previously, or if I had it was quite some time ago so I didn't really remember them. However, 2-4 were mid series novellas that seemed to feel like you should know a bit more about the characters and backgrounds. Additionally, they were just all so similar in content and tone (they were all alpha male military types with long-standing connections to the heroines that they are just addressing romantically) that without the content background they tended to run together in my mind as I read them all in one sitting. Admittedly, I do tend to prefer novellas where the main characters already have a history together, so that wasn't the problem. Overall, I say either read these novellas one at a time with some space between them (either for individual enjoyment or to get a taste to see if you want to pursue the series), or read them as part of their respective series and in their proper orders. I actually enjoyed the Wounded Warriors ones the best, however, the second one was published in 2012 and I am not finding anything to suggest that new stories are on the horizon so this may be a defunct series. And' I'll admit that while Tempting SEALs and Elite Ops had been on my radar since their inception, this was finally what prompted me to start those series, so I suppose that this collection has done its job on that count.

Review: Taken is a must-have for all fans of Lora Leigh’s Tempting Navy SEALS & Elite Ops series

In my overview/review of Lora Leigh’s various and sometimes intertwined HOT romantic suspense series - Nauti Boys & Girls, Tempting SEALS, Elite Ops, The Callahans - I noted that I was really looking forward to the release this summer of Taken, a compilation of short stories that are integral to the understanding of several of her series. Well, I received a copy for review from her publisher, and, may I say, this collection has made this series reader very happy.

I don’t think I’m unique that I really like reading a series in order. Sure, I’ll pick up a book, read and fall in love with it, and then go back and read the prior books in the relevant series. But that’s not my first choice. No, I love reading series in order from the very beginning.

Leigh is a master of the short story/novella that is integral in propelling a series along. That’s why when I read her, I make sure that the various anthologies or single title novellas are in my collection. That means I’m double checking titles and reading order with FictionDB and Goodreads, not an onerous task, but imagine that with one book you wouldn't have to do that any longer for two of her series - Tempting Navy SEALS and Elite Ops. Yes, that’s right. If you’ve been missing a short story, or two, or three, it’s here. Yes, it’s in Taken and doesn’t that make your reader heart dance!

From “Reno’s Chance,” the story that sets the stage for Leigh’s Tempting Navy SEALS, to “Cooper’s Fall” and “Sheila’s Passion” that are the first titles of an affiliated series entitled, Wounded Warriors, this collection has it all. Yes, all the sexy, suspenseful stories that you were searching for are here - in this one book. The only fault I can find is that short story, “Hannah’s Luck,” (published in Men of Danger) is not included in this collection. I’m not sure why, as I don’t think I’m the only one who ever wondered what happened to the sheriff from Wild Card (Elite Ops 1).

So, if you’re a fan of Lora Leigh and don’t already have all the relevant short stories for her Elite Ops and Tempting Navy SEALS series, this is a must-have addition to your library!

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the August 24 release date of Ultimate Sins, the fourth book in Leigh's The Callahans series. Until then, you can pick up Sins in the Night: The Prologue and First Chapter to Ultimate Sins for $0.99 beginning 22 July.

Review:

You will need a fan for this book!

A great collection of six Lora Leigh's novellas all in one book.

Most of these stories I had not read and it was great to get all of them into one book for my reading pleasure.

This book was jammed packed of Alpha Military Males and the women who are lucky enough to get them. Each story was sizzling hot and had drama, action and intrigue to go along with couple's romance.

Because I have not read all of Lora Leigh's series, I was a little lost as to how some of these stories tie together in the bigger scheme of her series. But I tried to take each story as a stand alone and read it from that perspective. And now I have a new yearning to go and read the series that I have not read yet.

If you love Lora Leigh's books you will love this collection!
