What if you had the ability to see into the future? What if you knew how someone might die? Would you do something about it?
This is Adelaide Paige’s dilemma.
She wakes up one day with the ability to see into the future, but she has no desire to be a savior. All Adelaide wants is to graduate college and to become a Forensic Scientist… maybe even date a little. She just wants an ordinary life.
But her world is turned upside down when two dead girls turn up at the local morgue where she works. Adelaide soon discovers that these cases are not your everyday cases, but there is a serial killer out there. Someone who is murdering young women just like her.
She has a decision to make.
Choose to reveal her secret and risk losing those closest to her? Or remain in the background and let the police handle it?
Will Adelaide make the choice in time to save those she loves… or even herself… from a similar fate?

First Glance is an exciting and spellbinding story of our choices and the consequences of those choices. It will touch your heart while ensuring that you leave the light on just a little longer than normal. This is a journey that will awaken your mind and sharpen your senses. It has a heart and soul that I didn’t expect, and that I just couldn’t get enough of. You will be left sighing with contentment and wanting oh so much more.
Adelaide Paige seems like a normal, everyday college student who just wants to finish her degree and go into her chosen field of study. Unfortunately, things aren’t what they appear, and she finds herself in possession of a dangerous and unwanted gift. With a simple touch, she is able to receive a vision of how that person will die. This isn’t something you want when your job forces you to cross paths with a killer. Will she use her gift to help catch a killer, or will she continue to hide out in the shadows of her life wanting more but too afraid to take a chance?
Adelaide better known as Addy to her friends is about to watch her life take a 180 from calm and predictable to turbulent and disconcerting. She is about to face her biggest challenge. Should she use her gift to do what she knows is right and risk being seen as a freak, or does she continue to hide within her own safe life while others are suffering a fate that she can easily change? This is a decision she never expected to be faced with, but it is also one that she cannot walk away from and ignore without dire consequences.
Much to her delight not all of the recent changes in her life are uncomfortable or painful. There is a very handsome and very protective man who awakens her heart from its perpetual slumber and offers his support as her life spirals out of control. Addy struggles with how far into her heart she is willing to let him gain access to. Her small, protective world no longer exists, and she must face her new reality. What remains is her decision to open her heart and allow herself to truly live a life of passion and possibility or crawl back into her painfully compact world of safety and ignorance.
What a beautiful journey Addy led me on! I was captivated by her heart and her determination to do what she could to make an impact on those around her. While she started off not wanting to go beyond her own little world, she ended up risking everything to do what she knew was right. In the end, her world was not only rebuilt, but it was filled with more love, hope, and promise than she could have ever dreamed. Sometimes we have to let go of everything in order to really see the blessings and opportunities that are right in front of our face.
L.L. Hunter has written a stunning and pulse-pounding story of the power of our choices. This beautiful story kept me reading until the very end without a break. I had to know what Addy would do next and if she was going to survive long enough to realize what all she could lose. The characters were powerful and impressive, and I hope to meet them again. This is an outstanding start to a very promising series, and I for one am very eager to see what Addy’s next adventure will be.
4.5 stars, but I shallz explains <3 (later. much later)
Warning: I was in given this ARC in exchange for an honest review and thats what i am going to do. Gotta problem with that? Take it up with someone else because I am all about the love yo ;)
Song Choice: "Precious" by Depeche Mode, "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" by Flogging Molly.
First thoughts: This was a fast, suspenseful, murder mystery, kickass fast read. I really enjoyed what this book brought and the fact that it did managed to trick me a couple times over. Anyhoops. So YAY.
Thoughts on Plot: So as i mentioned just up there, this was a fast suspenseful, murder mystery. There were creep factors - and i mean who doesn't LOVE creep factors....what? Just me.... well then. Anyways, L.L. Hunter went to places others don't dare to do, and I really do appreciate that. Anyways I really liked the first few interactions with Killian and Addy, there is nothing more fun then explosive, angry love at first. So much fun! Anyways when you think you got it down, you are probably wrong. My biggest "thing" I guess is why did she suddenly start getting visions... I had a crazy ass theory that i was sort of hoping i was right about, I wasn't but I guess for me it was one thing i didn't fully understand *shrugs*
Characters:
Addy (i might spell this wrong Adelaide?): She was really bright, and really interesting. I liked her for the most part, there were a few times that I felt like she gave in a little too easily, but I do understand WHY she did so it really doesn't bother me all that much. She was sassy and not afraid to stand up for herself, especially when it first came to meeting Killian ;) hehehehe.
Killian: hot Irishman, I want him. Seriously gimmie. Gimmie right meow! Anyways he was a smartass himself and i loved it. He was protective of his girl and they fall for each other pretty quickly but they have a lot of heightened moments and experiences. Anyways back to Killian I am really REALLY curious about his past, and his family, it was slightly mentioned and I want to know more.
The ending: ummm part of me is confused, but i am eager to read on with the series.
so this is A HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE SPOILER please don't read unless you have read the book
Adelaide is working at the morgue. Her life changes completly when she discover that she have the ability to see the past and sometimes the future. Just by touching a corpse or someone will sometimes trigger a vision. That is not necessarily a gift as the visions are not always great. She is afraid to talk to anybody about these visions because she thinks that they will think she is crazy.
With all that stress, the best remedy for her is always coffee. She then met Killian the awesome guy working at the coffee place near home. At first, she didn't like him he had his way of upsetting her but then he seems to be fascinated by her. Who is that guy really? Is he good or bad? Will she tells him her secret?
Back at work, when many girls her age died in similar circumstances and arrived at the morgue, by her vision, Adelaide discover that there is a serial killer out there targetting girls like her. She has to talk to someone about that but who? The police? Her boss? Her best friend? Who is that killer?
All answers will be found in that wonderful story.
My opinion: Oh my god this was soo good!! I just couldn't put it down. I read it it one day. I loved the characters, especially Addy, Cory and Killian. There was suspense and I had try to figure this out but L.L Hunter, you got me. Thank you so much for allowing me to read your story. Now write fast because I can't wait to see what's next. I recommend this without hesitation.
I loved Killian!!! He's cocky, "I don't normally. You've brought out all my best qualities, sweetheart." He talks like he owns the room (which to me that sexy beast does) "she didn't call me, she cam around to the cafe, but didn't end up ordering anything. She wanted to talk to me, about you. She invited me to her wedding, which I thought was peculiar, her being a stranger and all. I mean, you don't go inviting strangers to your wedding." When I say cocky I mean really cocky, "do you want me to ask you?" I realize I'm standing really close to him, less than a foot in proximity. He raises his eyebrow, waiting for me to give my answer." And he knows how to show a girl he's interested, "our lips meet again and we fall backward on the bed. Oh yes, he wants me alright." Although short I liked this story
Fast pace and adrenalin pumping read. Like all of L.L. Hunter books this one pulls your right in from the begining. Addie's life changes over night as she can see into peoples last moments on earth. She takes this new gift and deals with it at the same time she is juggling a new man in her life and is "unofficially " working murder cases. This blood pumping book you just cant put it down. It has the perfect blend of mystery, love, and unknown to keep you in your set til the very end. Speaking of the end. Thought it was the end but Ms. Hunter threw me for a loop! Awesome read 5 stars from me!
Absolutely love! L.L Hunter does it again! First Glance is awesome! I love Addy and you feel for her with her ability and every thing she goes thru! I love her friend Cory and how can you not love Killian Swoon******* from trying to solve murders...being sent to a psych ward...the twists and turns keep you on edge...Awesome job and highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was definitely a thrilling book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I've always had an interest in the forensic side of crime, so it was really awesome to see! I cannot wait for the next book. I must find out what happens!
This book was like a B movie...or maybe a C,if they have that. There was SO much crammed into the not quite 3 hours that it was funny. It seemed like every storyline from top selling movies/books were tossed in.The characters were superficial and stereotyped.I found the narration pretty bad except for when she,Nina Price, read instead of doing voices.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
Adelaide Paige is a forensic science student with a bright future. She is being mentored by Dr. Lanning Channing, which she considers as a grandfather figure. He teaches her about the business and lets her intern at his office. During her college career, she has a circle of friends, which she considers family. During crazy twists and turns, she finds out who is a friend and an enemy. During this crazy and emotional ride, she finds love and the mastermind of the ugliness. Addy gets a gift she does not want and must now decide if she will use this gift, she has now to stop a killer or to hide in the shadows from everything and everyone. When she meets Killian, he is able to get her to open up her heart again. She must decide how far she will let him in or if her fears will get the better of her. Can Addy deal with the changes in her life and realize a new life awaits her if she only takes a chance? Will she survive long enough to enjoy her new life with Killian? Addy is a strong character and the author makes you feel like you are a part of the story. I loved Addy; she was very determined to help those around her. I could understand her desire to not be dragged into a world she does not understand fully with her new gift. I loved Killian; he is one hot Irishman! He gives as good as he gets when it comes to verbal sparring and watching him and Addy trade barbs was so much fun to see. I loved how protective he was of Addy. It was so sweet. I want to know more about his past, we were only give a small taste of it and I want know more about this sexy Irishman. This is a wonderful first book to what seems to be a great series. I would definitely recommend this book!
First Glance was a very interesting book! It was very fast paced and I loved the storyline very much. During the beginning of the book, you aren't explained right off the bat what the story is about, but the author wrote it to make it a nice way to ease into the story.
I loved Addy and Killian, and Cory! They were great characters and they went well together. I especially love Addy, with the way she thinks and does things. I wasn't expecting her to be able to do some of the stuff that she does.
I did find that the story went a little too fast in terms of Addy and Killian's relationship. Another thing that I found was off was that I found that Addy didn't really show emotion for certain things that for other people would be traumatic. But then again, it is a fast paced story, and we don't dwell much on the character's feelings.
The book was well written and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, Second Sight. I really did love this story, and I'm excited to be reading more of it. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I was really confused by this book but also absolutely loved it. It definitely left me wanting more and I can't wait to find out more about Addy and Killian. I don't feel that I got to know nearly enough about Killian at all.
I loved the plot, characters and the writing style. However, I found a couple places where things didn't make sense and other parts were just hard to follow. There was so much happening in such a short amount of time but I am patiently waiting to see what happens to this amazing cast of characters next.
While reading First Glance, I felt as though I was a character in the story. I rode the emotional roller coaster with Addy, and shared her visions, from beginning to end. Well done to L.L. Hunter for making that connection with the audience. Just when I had an idea on who the killer was, something would happen that then had me suspecting someone else. I was left guessing (and still am) until the very end and cannot wait for the next instalment.
This was such a good book. At the end of this book, we still just have a lot of pieces that don’t seem to go together yet. Addy is so brave and determined for such a young woman. She takes on so much without caving. She handles everything with grace and poise. I know my best friend and I would be having a serious talk if she told some random guy where we lived to set me up, but why not??!! It worked out. I can’t wait to see the pieces come together.
What a great story! Started to remind me of the show iZombie where she can see the future and other things. L.L. Hunter did a wonderful job with this story she kept me interesting and wanted to learn so much more about Addy and what was going on and what was going to happen. I can't wait to read the next two books.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK BUT FELT AT TIMES CERTAIN SCENES WERE RUSHED. FOR EXAMPLE THE RELATIONSHIP WITH KILLIAN. SHE FELL FOR HIM STRAIGHT AWAY NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND GAVE UP HER VIRGINITY. LOVE THE CONCEPT OF THE VISIONS AND CANT WAIT TO READ BOOK 2
